ইন্দ্রজিৎ আইচঃ ক্রমশঃ ভয়াবহ আকার নিচ্ছে অসমের বন্যা পরিস্থিতি। বন্যা কবলিত এলাকায় যাওয়ার ব্যবস্থাও নেই। এই অবস্থায় নৌকো বা ভুটভুটি না পেয়ে অবশেষে বাঁশের ভেলায় চড়েই বন্যা দুর্গত মানুষদের মধ্যে ত্রান বিতরণের কাজ শুরু করল ভারত সেবাশ্রম সঙ্ঘ ৷ সঙ্ঘের সন্ন্যাসী ও স্বেচ্ছাসেবকরা শিলচর শহরে ইতিমধ্যেই শুকনো খাবারের পাশাপাশি রান্না করা খিচুড়ি দেওয়ার কাজ শুরু করেছে।
কলকাতার বালিগঞ্জ থেকে সঙ্ঘের প্রধান সম্পাদক স্বামী বিশ্বাত্মানন্দ মহারাজের উদ্যোগে অসমে ত্রাণ সামগ্রী পাঠানো হয়েছে ইতিমধ্যেই। বিভিন্ন শাখা কেন্দ্র থেকে সন্ন্যাসী ও স্বেচ্ছা সেবকরা পৌঁছে গেছেন শিলচরে। বন্যায় শিলচর ভারত সেবাশ্রম সঙ্ঘের একতলা ডুবে গেছে৷ ডুবেছে সঙ্ঘের স্কুলও। এই অবস্থায় সেখানেই শুরু হয়েছে ত্রান বিতরণের কাজ।

Relief material has already been sent to Assam from Ballygunge in Kolkata at the initiative of The Sangh’s chief secretary Swami Vishwatmananda Maharaj. Monks and volunteers from various branch centres have reached Silchar. One floor of The Silchar Bharat Sevashram Sangha has been submerged in the flood. The sangh’s school has also been submerged. In this situation, the work of distributing relief has started there.
