গোপাল বিশ্বাসের রিপোর্টঃ কয়েকদিন আগে সারা নবদ্বীপ জুড়ে জ্যোতিষ বিরোধী পোস্টার কর্মসূচী চালালো ভারতীয় বিজ্ঞান ও যুক্তিবাদী সমিতি’র নবদ্বীপ শাখা। জ্যোতিষশাস্ত্রকে শিক্ষা পাঠক্রম থেকে বাতিলের দাবিতে, কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের শিক্ষায় অপবিজ্ঞানকে প্রমোট করার বিরুদ্ধে, অবৈজ্ঞানিক শাস্ত্র জ্যোতিষশাস্ত্রকে নিষিদ্ধ ঘোষণা করার দাবিতে এই কর্মসূচী নেওয়া হয়। ভারতীয় বিজ্ঞান ও যুক্তিবাদী সমিতির নবদ্বীপ শাখার সম্পাদক প্রতাপ চন্দ্র দাস বলেন, “জ্যোতিষচর্চা সংবিধান অনুযায়ী বে-আইনি এবং বিজ্ঞান ও মানবতার শত্রু। প্রফেশনাল ট্যাক্স বিষয়ক আইন ১৯৭৯ – এর সেকশন O (2) তে আইনসম্মত পেশার তালিকায় জ্যোতিষ পেশার নাম নেই। কারণ জ্যোতিষ পেশা বেআইনি। দ্য ড্রাগস্ এ্যাণ্ড ম্যাজিক রেমিডিস (অবজেকশনাবল্ এ্যাডভারটাইজমেন্টস) এ্যাক্ট, ১৯৫৪ অনুযায়ী যদি কেউ মন্ত্র-তন্ত্র, দোয়া-তাবিজ, কবচ-মাদুলি বা কোনও প্রলোভনের সাহায্যে মানুষের রোগ সারানোর দাবি করে বা দাবিসহ বিজ্ঞাপন দেয় তবে তিনি আইনের চোখে অপরাধী। জ্যোতিষীরাও এই অপরাধে অপরাধী। উচ্চ শিক্ষালয়ে এ জাতীয় অবৈজ্ঞানিক বিষয়ে প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া এবং জ্যোতিষশাস্ত্রের পাঠ্যক্রমগুলি চালু করা আমাদের দেশের সাংবিধানিক ৪নং অনুচ্ছেদের ৫১এ (এইচ) ধারায় উল্লেখিত নাগরিকদের বৈজ্ঞানিক মেজাজ গঠন ও তাদের মধ্যে অনুসন্ধিৎসা বোধ জাগিয়ে তোলার আদর্শের পরিপন্থী। অনতিবিলম্বে এই পাঠ্যক্রম বাতিল করা দরকার।” কোনও দায়িত্বশীল সরকার জনগণের করের টাকায় এই সব অপকর্ম করতে পারে না। এই ধরনের অবৈজ্ঞানিক চিন্তাভাবনা ছাত্রছাত্রী ও আগামী প্রজন্মকে আরও পিছিয়ে দেবে। সরকার বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পাঠ্যসূচিতে জ্যোতিষশাস্ত্র অন্তর্ভুক্ত করে দেশের মানুষের সাথে প্রতারণা করছে এবং সমাজকে অন্ধবিশ্বাস ও অপবিজ্ঞানের চাদরে ঢেকে রাখতে চাইছে। তাই সমাজের সর্বস্তরের মানুষের আজ এগিয়ে এসে জ্যোতিষ ও জ্যোতিষশাস্ত্র নামক অপবিজ্ঞান ও প্রতারনামূলক শাস্ত্রের বিরোধিতার পাশাপাশি পাঠ্যক্রমে জ্যোতিষ অন্তর্ভুক্তির পৃষ্টপোষক ও মদতদাতাদের বিরুদ্ধে রুখে দাঁড়ানো জরুরি হয়ে পড়েছে বলেছে জানান সমিতির কর্মীরা।

Training in such unscientific subjects in higher education and introduction of astrology courses is contrary to the ideals of building the scientific temper of the citizens mentioned in Article 51A(h) of Article 4 of the Constitution of our country and instilling a sense of inquisitiveness among them. This course needs to be scrapped immediately. “No responsible government can do these misdeeds with people’s tax money. This kind of unscientific thinking will further hold the students and the next generation behind. The government is deceiving the people of the country by including astrology in the university curriculum and trying to cover the society with a cloak of superstition and superstition. Therefore, it has become necessary for people from all walks of life to come forward today and stand up against the patrons and sponsors of the inclusion of astrology in the curriculum, as well as opposing the evil and deceitful scriptures called astrology and astrology.
