রাজেন্দ্র নাথ দত্ত:মুর্শিদাবাদ : মুর্শিদাবাদ জেলায় গঙ্গা ভাঙন এক জ্বলন্ত সমস্যা। বর্ষা কিংবা খরা ভাঙন ত্রাসে তটস্থ হয়ে থাকেন নদী তীরবর্তী অঞ্চলের মানুষ। সেই আতঙ্ক তাড়া করেই ফের ভাঙনের গ্রাসে সামশেরগঞ্জ। একটু একটু করে আবারও এগিয়ে আসছে গঙ্গা। সম্প্রতি লাগাতার বৃষ্টি হচ্ছে সামশেরগঞ্জে। আর বৃষ্টির কারণে গঙ্গার পাড় ভাঙতে ভাঙতে নদী এবার চোখ রাঙাচ্ছে ওই এলাকার কবরস্থানকে। এই মূহুর্তে লালপুর এজমা কমিটির কবরস্থান ভাঙনের কবলে। দেখা দিয়েছে বড় বড় ফাটল। যেকোনো সময় বেশ কয়েকটি বাড়ি তলিয়ে যেতে পারে গঙ্গাবক্ষে। তবুও ভ্রূক্ষেপ নেই প্রশাসনের। কোনোরকমে জোড়া তালি দিয়ে চলছে ভাঙন ঠেকানো। এলাকার সকলের দাবি, গঙ্গার পাড় বাঁধানো হোক স্থায়ীভাবে।মুর্শিদাবাদ জেলার ফরাক্কা সহ ভাঙনের কবলে সামশেরগঞ্জের ধানগড়া, শিবপুর, হরানন্দপুর, ধুসুরিপাড়া কামালপুর চাচন্ড, লালপুর সাতঘরিয়া দীর্ঘড়ি সহ আরো বেশ কয়েক গ্রাম। এর আগেও নদীগর্ভে তলিয়ে গিয়েছে কয়েকশো বাড়ি। এবারও বেশ কিছু বাড়ি তলিয়ে যাওয়ার অপেক্ষায়। ভিটে মাটি হারিয়ে উদ্বাস্তু হয়ে রয়েছেন কয়েক হাজার মানুষ। দুর্গাপুজোর আগেই নদী ভাঙনে তলিয়ে গিয়েছে কয়েকশো বাড়ি ঘর। এখনও পুনর্বাসন না পাওয়ায় খোলা আকাশের নীচেই তাদের আশ্রয়। এরই মধ্যে দু’দিন আগে ভাঙনের আশঙ্কায় বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়েছে চাচন্ডের একটি শিশু শিক্ষা কেন্দ্র স্কুল।একটু একটু করে আবারও এগিয়ে আসছে গঙ্গা। সম্প্রতি লাগাতার বৃষ্টি হয়েছে সামশেরগঞ্জে। আর বৃষ্টির কারণে ধুলিয়ান পৌরসভার ১৬,১৭,১৮ নং ওয়ার্ড সহ আরো বেশ কয়েকটি এলাকায় ভাঙন শুরু হয়েছে। ইতি মধ্যেই দেখা দিয়েছে বড় বড় ফাটল। এজমা কমিটির কবরস্থানের একদিকের দেওয়াল ঝুলে পড়েছে গঙ্গার উপরে। বসতি এলাকার বেশ কয়েকটি বাড়ির একদম পাশ দিয়ে বইছে গঙ্গা। যে কোনো সময় নদীতে তলিয়ে যেতে পারে বাড়ি গুলি, বলে আশঙ্কা করছেন সাধারণ মানুষ। ভাঙন বিধ্বস্তদের হাহাকার সত্ত্বেও প্রশাসন নির্বিকার। আশ্রয় হারিয়ে তাঁদের দাবি, বালির বস্তা ফেলে জোড়াতালি দিয়ে নয়। ভাঙন রুখতে গঙ্গার পাড় বাধানো হোক বোল্ডার আর লোহার তাড় দিয়ে স্থায়ীভাবে।ভাঙন বিধ্বস্ত ডলি বিবি বলেন, আমাদের মাথার উপর ছাদ নেই। সরকারের থেকে কোনো সাহায্য পাইনি। আবার ভাঙন শুরু হয়েছে। আরো কত বাড়ি ঘর ডুবে যাবে তার ঠিক নেই। স্থানীয় বাসিন্দা বাবলু সেখ বলেন, বালির বস্তা ফেলে ভাঙন রোধ করা সম্ভব না। বোল্ডার দিয়ে গঙ্গার পার বাধানোর ব্যবস্থা করা হোক। ব্লক সমষ্টি উন্নয়ন আধিকারিক কৃষ্ণচন্দ্র মুন্ডা বলেন, গোটা এলাকা পরিদর্শন করে উর্ধ্বতন কর্তৃপক্ষকে সমস্ত রিপোর্ট পাঠানো হয়েছে। খুব দ্রুত কাজ শুরু হবে বলেক আশা করছি।

Yet the administration has no qualms. Somehow, a pair of claps is going on to prevent erosion. Everyone in the area demands that the banks of the Ganga be permanently built. Dhangara, Shibpur, Haranandapur, Dhusuripara Kamalpur Chachand, Lalpur Satgharia Longari and several other villages of Samsherganj are in the grip of erosion, including Farakka in Murshidabad district. Earlier, hundreds of houses were submerged in the river. This time too, several houses are waiting to be submerged. Thousands of people have become refugees after losing their land. Hundreds of houses have been submerged in river erosion ahead of Durga Puja. They are still sheltered under the open sky as they are yet to be rehabilitated. In the meantime, a children’s education center school in Chachand has been closed two days ago due to the fear of erosion. The Ganges is coming forward once again. It has rained continuously in Samsherganj recently. Due to the rain, erosion has started in several other areas including ward no. 16, 17, 18 of Dhulian municipality. In the meantime, big cracks have appeared. One side wall of the Ijtema Committee cemetery hangs over the Ganges. The Ganga flows through several houses in the settlement area. People fear that the houses can be submerged in the river at any time. Despite the outcry of the victims of the collapse, the administration is fearless. They claim that they have lost shelter, not by throwing sand bags and clapping them. To prevent erosion, the banks of the Ganges should be blocked permanently with boulders and iron rods. “We don’t have a roof over our heads,” said Dolly Bibi. I didn’t get any help from the government. The breakdown has begun again. It is not clear how many more houses will be submerged. Bablu Sheikh, a local resident, said it was not possible to prevent erosion by throwing sand bags. Arrangements should be made to block the banks of the Ganges with boulders. Block COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Officer Krishna Chandra Munda said all the reports have been sent to the higher authorities after visiting the entire area. I hope the work will start very soon.
