INDRAJIT AICH: Kolkata, 26th September 2022: The Inauguration ceremony of Newtown Sharbojanin Durgotsab was held in presence of Janab Firhad Hakim – MIC, Guest-in-Chief Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar – MP, Sujit Bose – MIC Chief Guest. And Debashish Sen Chairman – NKDA, Tapash Chatterjee – MLA Rajarhat Newtown Constituency, Krishna Chakraborty – Mayor Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation were accompanied as Guest of Honour.
Today at City Square Ground in the New Town Action Area I of Kolkata, 10 women from all over Bengal were felicitated as Mohishashur Mordini. The festival of Durga Puja celebrates the Goddess Durga’s victory over the demon tyrant Mahishasura.Hindu’s and more specifically Bengali’s celebrate the Mother Goddess and the glory of the warrior Goddess Durga over the evil Mahisasura during the Durga Puja. The event symbolizes the universe’s “Shakti,” or female power. Hence the theme of this year’s Durga Puja at Newtown Sharbojanin Durgotsab is Narishaktir Jagaran (Awakening of Women Power).
