মালদহ- পুজোয় জেলায় পদ্মের ঘাটতি মেটাবে হিমঘরে মজুত করে রাখা পদ্মফুল। পুজোর প্রায় একমাস আগে থেকে রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন প্রান্ত থেকে পদ্মফুল সংগ্রহ করে মালদহে হিমঘরে মজুত শুরু হয়েছে। দুর্গা পুজো থেকে কালীপুজো পর্যন্ত বাজারে পর্যাপ্ত পদ্মের যোগান দিতে এখন পর্যন্ত পাঁচ লক্ষাধিক পদ্মফুল হিমঘরে মজুত করে রাখা হয়েছে জানালেন মালদা জেলা ব্যবসায়ী নেতা তথা কোল্ড স্টোর অনার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের সভাপতি উজ্জ্বল সাহা। তিনি জানান মূলত দক্ষিণবঙ্গের বিভিন্ন জেলা থেকে পদ্মফুল সংগ্রহ করে নিয়ে আসছেন। দক্ষিণবঙ্গ ছাড়াও উত্তরবঙ্গের উত্তর ও দক্ষিণ দিনাজপুর সহ বিহার ঝাড়খন্ড ঘুরে ঘুরে ফুল সংগ্রহ করে নিয়ে আসছেন। অনান্য বছরের তুলনায় এবার বেশি পরিমাণে ফুল সংগ্রহ করতে হচ্ছে। কারণ চলতি মরশুমে মালদহ জেলায় একেবারেই পদ্মফুল নেই। উত্তর মালদহের ব্লকগুলিতে একসময় পুকুরে পদ্মফুলের চাষ ব্যাপক হারে হয়েছে। তবে বর্তমানে অধিকাংশ পুকুরে মাছ চাষ শুরু হয়েছে। পদ্মের চাষ অনেকটাই কমে গিয়েছে। তার উপর এই বছর মালদহে পর্যাপ্ত বৃষ্টিপাত হয়নি। মে সমস্ত পুকুরে এখনো পদ্মের চাষ হয়, বৃষ্টির জলের অভাবে পাতা হয়নি।এমনি ফুল ফোটেনি। তাই পুজোয় পদ্মের যোগান দিতে আগে থেকেই ফুল ব্যাবসায়ীরা দূর দূরান্ত থেকে ফুল সংগ্রহ করে মজুত করতে শুরু করেছেন।
শুধু মাত্র দূর্গা পুজো নয়, লক্ষী পুজো,কালী পুজোতে পদ্মের প্রয়োজন হয়। বছরের এই সময়ে পদ্মের চাহিদা থাকে। মালদহের বাজারে দীর্ঘদিন ধরেই বাইরে থেকে পদ্ম আমদানি করা হয়। তবে এই বছর সব থেকে বেশি আমদানি করতে হচ্ছে। তবে মালদহের হিমঘরে মজুত করা পদ্মফুল শুধু মাত্র মালদহের বাজারে নয়। এখানে মজুত রাখা ফুল পুজোয় উত্তরবঙ্গের প্রায় প্রতিটি জেলায় পাঠানো হয়। এমনকি মালদহের হিমঘর থেকে আসামে দুর্গা পুজোয় পদ্ম পাঠানো হয়, এমনটাই দাবি ব্যাবসায়ীদের।

He said that he is collecting lotus flowers mainly from different districts of South Bengal. Apart from South Bengal, he has been collecting flowers by visiting Bihar, Jharkhand, including North and South Dinajpur of North Bengal. Compared to other years, more flowers have to be collected this time. Because there is no lotus flower in Malda district this season. In the blocks of North Malda, lotus flowers were once cultivated on a large scale in ponds. However, fish farming has started in most of the ponds. The cultivation of lotus has decreased a lot. On top of that, Malda did not receive enough rainfall this year. In May, lotus is still cultivated in all the ponds, but due to lack of rain water, there is no leaf. The flower didn’t bloom like that. Therefore, flower traders have already started collecting and storing flowers from far and wide to provide lotus for the puja.
Not only Durga Puja, but lotus is needed in Lakshmi Puja and Kali Puja. There is a demand for lotus at this time of the year. Lotus has been imported from outside for a long time in the market of Malda. However, this year the most imports have to be made. However, the lotus flowers stored in malda’s cold storage are not just in the market of Malda. The flowers stored here are sent to almost every district of North Bengal for worship. Even the lotus is sent to Assam for Durga Puja from malda’s cold storage, the traders claim.
