ইন্দ্রজিৎ আইচঃ আজ থেকে অর্থাৎ ৫ ই নভেম্বর শনিবার থেকে হাওড়া শরৎ সদনে শুরু হলো সোসাইটি অফ মিডওয়াইফস (SOMI)-এর তৃতীয় আঞ্চলিক বার্ষিক সম্মেলন ২০২২।এই সম্মেলন চলবে আগামী কাল অর্থাৎ ৬ ই নভেম্বর রবিবার পর্যন্ত। আজ এই সম্মেলন উদ্বোধন করেন পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের স্বাস্থ্য ভবনের ফ্যামিলি ওয়েলফেয়ার এর প্রধান ডা: সিদ্ধার্থ নিয়োগী, হাওড়া মিউনিসিপ্যাল করপোরেশন এর চেয়ারম্যান ডা: সুজয় চক্রবর্ত্তী, হাওড়ার সি এম ও এইচ ডা: এন সি মন্ডল, বি ও জি এস-এর প্রেসিডেন্ট ডা: অভিনাস চন্দ্র রায়। তারা সোমির এই উদ্যোগকে সাধুবাদ জানায়। উপস্থিত ছিলেন মিতালী অধিকারী, সভাপতি SOMI, মানসী জানা, উপদেষ্টা, SOMI, শুভ্রা রায়, সচিব SOMI। এই সন্মেলনে সোমির প্রেসিডেন্ট মিতালী অধিকারী এক সাংবাদিক সম্মেলনে জানান গর্ভবতীকালীন মায়ের শরীর এর যত্ন, নিরাপদ সন্তানের জন্ম, এবং শিশুর খাদ্য, এবং মা ও শিশুর প্রতি আরো যত্নবান হওয়া এই বিষয়ে আমাদের সোমির দুদিনের সম্মেলন হচ্ছে। সেটিকে জনসমক্ষে তুলে ধরা এবং প্রচার করা এই সম্মেলনে র মূল ভাবনা ।
Midwives progress in leading role: skill, safe, sensitive and respectful care to mother and child. সম্মেলনের প্রথমদিনএই মুখ্য বিষয় নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা হয়েছে। মিতালী অধিকারী, সভাপতি মা ও বাচ্চার স্বাস্থ্য উন্নতি করণের উপর আলোকপাত করেন। তিনি আরো জানান কি ভাবে মিডওয়াইফসরা মুখ্য ভূমিকা গ্রহণ করছেন – একজন গর্ভবতী মার যত্ন নেওয়ার এবং প্রসূতি কালীন বিভিন্ন পর্যায়ে সঠিক উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করছেন যাতে মা ও বাচ্চা উভয়েই সুস্থ থাকেন এবং ভবিষ্যতে মাতৃ রোগ ও মৃত্যুর হার কমে। সরকারের বিভিন্ন উদ্যোগ কেও কি ভাবে তারা রূপায়িত করছে এবং মিডওয়াইফসরা কিভাবে মা ও পরিবারের ভরসা যোগ্য হয়ে উঠছেন, সেই সব বিষয়ে আলোচনা করেন । বর্তমান পরিস্থিতিতে অনেক সংখ্যায় দক্ষ মিডওয়াইফস এর প্রয়োজন। বর্তমানে এরকম উদাহরণ ও পাওয়া গেছে যেখানে নার্স প্রাকটিসনার মিডওয়াইভ্স তত্ত্বাবধান করছেন, সেই সমস্ত জায়গায় মা ও বাচ্চা যথাযথ গুণমান বজায় রেখে যত্ন পাচ্ছেন, এবং সেই সমস্ত জায়গায় স্বাভাবিক প্রসবেরহার অনেক বেশি। বর্তমানে ভারতবর্ষে সিজারিয়ান সেকশনের হার বেড়েই চলেছে। এই হার হ্রাস করতে Government of India থেকে এই উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হচ্ছে যাতে নার্স প্রাকটিস্নার মিডওয়াইভ্স রং সংখ্যা বাড়ানো যায়। ইতিমধ্যে তেলেঙ্গানা এই কাজ শুরু করে দিয়েছে, যাতে সিজারিয়ান সেকশনের হার কমানো যায়।
SOMI-র উপদেষ্টা মানসী জানা এই তেলেঙ্গানার উদ্যোগের সূত্র ধরে বলেন পশ্চিমবঙ্গ এই পথে অগ্রসর হচ্ছে। যাতে নার্স প্রাকটিস্নার মিডওয়াইভ্স এর ট্রেনিং শুরু করা যেতে পারে। তাই 12 জন মিডওয়াইফারি এডুকেটর কে ট্রেনিং এ পাঠানো হয়েছিল হায়দরাবাদ এর Fernandez Foundation Hospital এ।
মিডওয়াইভ্সের সংখ্যা বৃদ্ধি হলে বেশি সংখ্যায় মিডওয়াইফারি লেড্ কেয়ার ইউনিট শুরু করা যাবে। সংগঠনের সচিব শুভ্রা রায় এই সুত্র ধরে বলেন যত বেশি সংখ্যায় নার্স প্রাকটিস্নার মিডওয়াইভ্স তৈরি হবেন মায়েদের যত্নের তত উন্নতি হবে। মানসিক ও শারীরিক সব দিক থেকে মা নিজেকে তৈরি করতে পারবে বর্তমান ও ভবিষ্যতের জন্য।মা ও বাচ্চার স্বাস্থ্যর জন্য SOMI সদাসর্বদা তৎপর। তাই এই সংস্থার পক্ষ থেকে প্রতিনিয়ত বিভিন্ন সচেতন মূলক অনুষ্ঠান, সম্মেলনের আয়োজন করা হয়। এই সমস্ত উদ্যোগ গুলিকে সফলভাবে রূপায়ণে র জন্য সরকার, UNICEF, Himalaya Baby Care, WRAI এর সহিত অংশিদারী হয়ে কাজ করছে। ভবিষ্যত প্রজন্ম যাতে সুস্থ ও স্বাভাবিক জীবন পেতে পারে, এবং বর্তমান পরিস্থিতির বাধা কাটিয়ে কিভাবে মা ও বাচ্চার স্বাস্থ্য এর সার্বিক উন্নতি করা যেতে পারে সেই অঙ্গীকার নিতে চলেছে, SOMI তার এই সম্মেলনের মাধ্যমে। দুদিনের এই সন্মেলনে সারা ভারতবর্ষ থেকে প্রায় ৯০০ জন নার্স উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
The 3rd Regional Annual Conference 2022 of the Society of Midwives (SOMI) began at Howrah Sarat Sadan on Saturday, November 5, 2022. The conference will continue till Sunday, November 6. Dr Siddhartha Niyogi, Head of Family Welfare, Swasthya Bhavan, Government of West Bengal, Dr Sujoy Chakraborty, Chairman, Howrah Municipal Corporation, Dr N C Mandal, CM AND H, Howrah, Dr Abhinas Chandra Roy, President, B&GS inaugurated the conference. They applauded Somi’s initiative. Mitali Adhikari, President, SOMI, Mansi Jana, Advisor, SOMI, Suvra Roy, Secretary SOMI were present. Somi President Mitali Adhikari said at a press conference that we are having a two-day conference on taking care of the mother’s body during pregnancy, safe childbirth, and baby food, and being more careful about the mother and child. The main idea of this conference is to make it public and promote it.

Mitali Adhikari, President highlighted the importance of improving the health of the mother and child. She also spoke about how midwives are taking a major role – taking care of a pregnant mother and taking proper initiatives at various stages of maternity so that both the mother and the baby are healthy and the maternal morbidity and mortality rate is reduced in the future. They discussed how the government’s initiatives are being implemented and how midwives are becoming reliable for mothers and families. A large number of skilled midwives are needed in the current situation. At present, there have been instances where the nurse is supervising the midwives of the practitioner, where the mother and baby are getting care by maintaining proper quality, and in those places the rate of normal delivery is much higher. At present, the rate of caesarean sections in India is increasing. This initiative is being taken by the Government of India to reduce this rate so that the number of nurse practitioner midwives can be increased. Telangana has already started this work so that the rate of caesarean section can be reduced. Mansi Jana, advisor to SOMI, referred to the Telangana initiative and said West Bengal is moving in this direction. So that the training of nurse practice midwives can be started. So 12 midwifery educators were sent for training to The Fernandez Foundation Hospital in Hyderabad.
If the number of midwives increases, more midwifery led care units can be started. Subhra Roy, secretary of the organization, said that the more number of nurse practitioner midwives are created, the better the care of mothers will be. Mentally and physically, the mother will be able to prepare herself for the present and the future. SOMI is always on the lookout for the health of the mother and child. Therefore, on behalf of this organization, various awareness programs, conferences are organized regularly. The government is working in partnership with UNICEF, Himalaya Baby Care, WRAI to successfully implement these initiatives. Through this conference, SOMI is going to take a pledge so that the future generations can have a healthy and normal life, and how to improve the health of the mother and child by overcoming the obstacles of the current situation. The two-day conference was attended by around 900 nurses from all over India.
