INDRAJIT AICH: Nameg Fashion Calendar 2023 is an ode to the seasons. As the year turns slowly and steadily, it gifts us a variety of experiences through the churning of the seasons bringing a unique touch to our lives. From the balmy winter, joyful spring, golden summer to giddy monsoon, heart warming autumn and back to winter – the relentless cycle of seasons connects us to nature and creates wonderful memories to cherish.
This is much like the beautiful drapes of Nameg. Each of the handcrafted sarees have a story to tell. Chanderi silks, Benarasi katan silks, cotton kesapat Assam weave, kalamkari tussar silks, hand painted sarees and Bengal cotton handloom sarees in myriad colours of pink, white, green, yellow, blue, red, black orange, mauve and others capture the abiding colours of the seasons and lights up the inner glow.
The calendar was launched amidst much fanfare on Saturday January 7 by the co-owners of Nameg, Meghali Barua Lahiry, Rupali Barua and Namita Dashora with the team responsible for the calendar production. While it has been conceptualized by Supreeta Singh, the makeup, hair and styling has been done by Kaushik Rajat and photography by Subhadip Samanta and team. Apart from the owners the calendar also features Supreeta Singh, Sushmita Roy and Sonali Chakraborty as raising a toast to women achievers.
Meghali said, “We are very happy with the calendar this year again! The sarees have been hand picked by us that represent the beauty of handloom suitable for all age groups, body types, and backgrounds. That’s the best thing about sarees – they make every woman look beautiful.” Nameg is located at 56A Raja Basanta Roy Road and also has Cafe Narumeg on its rooftop.
