নদীয়া-ঃ নদীয়ার নবদ্বীপ শহরে সাতসকালে নিয়ন্ত্রণহীন লড়ির চাকায় পিষ্ট হয়ে মৃত্যু হলো এক বৃদ্ধের। ঘটনায় তীব্র চাঞ্চল্য এলাকায়। এমনি চাঞ্চল্যকর ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে নদীয়ার নবদ্বীপ শহরের দন্ডপানি তলা ঘাট মোড় এলাকায়। স্থানীয় সুত্রে জানা যায় এদিন সকাল আনুমানিক ৮.১৫ নাগাদ একটি ওভারলোড বালি বোঝাই লড়ির নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে এক সাইকেল আরোহিকে সামনের চাকায় পিষ্ট করে। স্থানীয়রা ঘটনাস্থল থেকে বৃদ্ধকে উদ্ধার করে নবদ্বীপ স্টেট জেনারেল হাসপাতালে পাঠালে কর্ত্যব্য রত চিকিৎসক মৃত বলে জানায়। জানা যায় মৃত ব্যাক্তির নাম বিমল পাল, বয়স আনুমানিক ৭০। বাড়ি নবদ্বীপ শহরের চটির মাঠ এলাকয়। দন্ডপানি তলা এলাকায় একটি ফার্নিচার শোরুমে কাজ করতেন তিনি। প্রতিদিনের ন্যায় এ দিনও বাড়ি থেকে কাজে যোগ দিতে আসছিলেন,  আর আচমকাই লড়িটি পিসে দেয়। স্থানীয়রা লড়িটি ও চালককে আটক করে, খবর পেয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে যায় নবদ্বীপ থানার পুলিশ,  পুলিশ গিয়ে লড়ি ও চালক কে নিজেদের হেফাজতে নেয়।

সামগ্রিক ঘটনায় তীব্র চাঞ্চল্য ছড়ায় এলাকায়। স্থানীয়দের একাংশের দাবী প্রতি দিনই এ এলাকা দিয়ে চোরাই বালি তাও ওভার লোড যাতায়াত করছে,সামনেই দুটো স্কুল কোন রকম নিয়ন্ত্রণ না করেই বালি বোঝাই লড়ি চলাফেরা করছে। তারা আরও বলে ওভার লোড থাকার কারনেই এ দূর্ঘটনা।

Nadia: An elderly man died after being crushed under the wheels of an uncontrolled lorry in Nabadwip town of Nadia at seven o’clock in the morning. The incident took place in the area. The incident took place at Dandapani Tala Ghat intersection in Nadia’s Nabadwip town. According to local sources, around 8.15 am, an overload lost control of the sand-laden lorry and crushed a bike rider into the front wheel. Locals rescued the old man from the spot and sent him to Nabadwip State General Hospital where the on-duty doctor said he was dead. The deceased has been identified as Bimal Pal, around 70 years of age. The house is in the field of Chati in Nabadwip town. He used to work in a furniture showroom in Dandapani Tala area. Like every day, he was coming from home to join work, and suddenly the lorry was crushed. Locals arrested the lorry and the driver, on receiving the information, the police of Nabadwip police station went to the spot and took the lorry and the driver into their custody.
The overall incident caused a stir in the area.  A section of the locals claim that every day the stolen sand is also overloaded through this area, in front of the two schools are moving with sand without any control. They also said that the accident was due to overloading.
