ইন্দ্রজিৎ আইচঃ ১৯৪৯ সালে দক্ষিন ২৪ পরগনার ডায়মন্ড হারবার স্টেশনের পাসে স্বামী প্রনবানন্দ মহারাজ প্রতিষ্ঠিত ভারত সেবাশ্রম সঙ্ঘের ডায়মন্ড হারবার শাখা তৈরি হয়। তখন সমগ্র সুন্দরবন অঞ্চলের সেবাকাজ হত এই আশ্রম থেকে। পরবর্তীকালে সুন্দরবন এলাকায় ভারত সেবাশ্রম সঙ্ঘের বেশ কিছু শাখা তৈরি হয়। ডায়মন্ড হারবার ভারত সেবাশ্রম সঙ্ঘের উদ্যোগে এলাকায় সেবাকার্য ছাড়াও চারটি ইংরাজী ও বাংলা মাধ্যম স্কুল পঠন পাঠনেও এলাকায় যথেষ্ট সুনাম অর্জন করেছে । এই আশ্রমের ৭৫ বর্ষে ৯ দিন ব্যাপী প্ল্যাটিনাম জুবিলি অনুষ্টানের সুচনা করেন ভারত সেবাশ্রম সঙ্ঘের প্রধান সম্পাদক স্বামী বিশ্বাত্মানন্দ মহারাজ। পুজা পাঠ, নানা ধর্মীয় অনুষ্ঠান ও আলোচনাসভার মাধ্যমে অনুষ্ঠান, গুরু মহারাজের বিশেষ আরতি ও অন্নকোর্ট অনুষ্ঠান শেষ হয় ২৯ জানুয়ারি ৷ অনুষ্ঠানের উদ্বোধন করে সঙ্ঘের প্রধান সম্পাদক স্বামী বিশ্বাত্মানন্দ মহারাজ বলেন, একটা খড়ের চালার আশ্রম থেকে এই ভারত সেবাশ্রম আজ অনেক বড় হয়েছে। গরিব ও পিছিয়ে পড়া মানুষদের মধ্যে শিক্ষা বিস্তারের পাশাপাশি যে কোনো ধরনের প্রয়োজনে মানুষের শেবায় সর্বদা প্রস্তুত ভারত সেবাশ্রম সঙ্ঘ। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ভারত সেবাশ্রম সঙ্ঘের ডায়মন্ড হারবার শাখার প্রধান স্বামী ত্যাগব্রতানন্দ মহারাজ সহ সঙ্ঘের অন্যান্য সন্নাসীরা।
In 1949, the Diamond Harbour branch of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha, founded by Swami Pranabananda Maharaj, was built near diamond harbour station in South 24 Parganas. At that time, the service of the entire Sundarbans region was done from this ashram. Later, several branches of the Bharat Sevashram Sangha were formed in the Sundarbans area. Diamond Harbour has earned a lot of fame in the area by teaching four English and Bengali medium schools in addition to service activities in the area under the initiative of Bharat Sevashram Sangha. Swami Vishwatmananda Maharaj, editor-in-chief of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, inaugurated the nine-day platinum jubilee celebration of the ashram on the occasion of its 75th anniversary. Inaugurating the puja recitation, various religious ceremonies and discussion meetings, guru maharaj’s special aarti and annacourt ceremony ended on January 29, The Sangh’s chief secretary Swami VishwatmanandMaharaj said, “This Bharat Sevashram has become much bigger today than a haystack. Bharat Sevashram Sangha is always ready to spread education among the poor and backward people as well as to serve the people for any kind of need. Swami Tyagabratananda Maharaj, head of the Diamond Harbour branch of Bharat Sevashram Sangha, along with other monks of the Sangh were present on the occasion.
