Lifeline Foundation is a Kolkata-based registered, voluntary, non-profit organization since 1996, working in the field of suicide prevention and mental health. The Lifeline Foundation is a chapter of Befriends India, affiliated with Befriends Worldwide, UK. We have a rigorous selection process and our volunteers are trained to provide emergency assistance in accordance with international standards. We are also associated with the International Association for Suicide Prevention.
মানসিক স্বাস্থ্য সংক্রান্ত সমস্যাগুলিকে ঘিরে কলঙ্ক দূর করার জন্য আমাদের নিরন্তর প্রচেষ্টা যাতে আরও বেশি লোক সাহায্য চাইতে পারে। তারা দুটি বিনামূল্যের এবং গোপনীয় টেলি হেল্পলাইন (033-40447437 এবং 9088030303) চালাই যা প্রতিদিন সকাল ১০টা থেকে রাত ১০টা পর্যন্ত এমন কলকারীদের জন্য উপলব্ধ যারা দুস্থ, হতাশাগ্রস্ত বা আত্মহত্যা করতে পারে। উপরন্তু, আমরা শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান, সরকারী এবং সরকারী সংস্থা ইত্যাদির সাথে আউটরিচ প্রোগ্রাম সংগঠিত করি। আত্মহত্যা প্রতিরোধের প্রচেষ্টায় সহায়তা করার জন্য আমরা কলকাতা পুলিশ এবং মেট্রো রেলওয়ের সাথে অংশীদারি করেছি (কলকাতার ৮ টি মেট্রো স্টেশনে তাদের পোস্টার রয়েছে)।
It is our constant effort to remove the stigma surrounding mental health issues so that more and more people can seek help. They run two free and confidential tele helplines (033-40447437 and 9088030303) that are available every day from 10 am to 10 pm for callers who may be distressed, depressed or commit suicide. In addition, we organize outreach programs with educational institutions, government and government agencies, etc. We have partnered with Kolkata Police and Metro Railway to assist in suicide prevention efforts (they have posters at 8 metro stations in Kolkata).
২০ তম বিফ্রেন্ডস ইন্ডিয়া ন্যাশনাল কনফারেন্স লাইফলাইন ফাউন্ডেশন ৩, ৪ এবং ৫ ফেব্রুয়ারী ২০২৩ তারিখে কলকাতায় আয়োজন করছে। উপস্থিত ছিলেন, মিসেস সুক্ষম সিং, প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ট্রাস্টি ও পরিচালক, লাইফলাইন ফাউন্ডেশন, মিসেস মলি থামবি, উপ পরিচালক, লাইফলাইন ফাউন্ডেশন, মিসেস মনজিত, উপ পরিচালক, লাইফলাইন ফাউন্ডেশন । শুক্রবার সন্ধ্যায় রামকৃষ্ণ মিশন ইনস্টিটিউট অফ কালচার, গোলপার্কের মিলনায়তনে সম্মেলনের উদ্বোধন করা হয় , ৩ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৩ সন্ধ্যা ৬:৩০ থেকে সম্মেলনে ভারত ও শ্রীলঙ্কার অনুরূপ ১৩টি কেন্দ্রের অংশগ্রহণকারীরা অন্তর্ভুক্ত হবে ।
The 20th Befriends India National Conference Lifeline Foundation is organizing in Kolkata on 3rd, 4th and 5th February 2023. Present on the occasion were Mrs. Suksham Singh, Founder Trustee and Director, Lifeline Foundation, Mrs. Molly Thamby, Deputy Director, Lifeline Foundation, Mrs. Manjit, Deputy Director, Lifeline Foundation. The conference was inaugurated at the auditorium of Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark on Friday evening, from 6:30 pm on February 3, 2023, the conference will include participants from 13 similar centres from India and Sri Lanka.
এই ৩ দিনের কনভেনশনের জন্য থিম ছিল: ‘সেলিব্রেটিং লাইফ ইন দ্য সিটি অফ জয়’। তাদের কথায় বিফ্রেন্ডস অনুমোদিত কেন্দ্র থেকে ১২০ টিরও বেশি প্রতিনিধি তাদের অংশগ্রহণ নিশ্চিত করেছে। ৩ থেকে ৫ ফেব্রুয়ারী ২০২৩-এর মধ্যে অনুষ্ঠিত হতে যাওয়া সম্মেলনটি আমাদের জ্ঞান বৃদ্ধি করতে, সর্বোত্তম অনুশীলনগুলি গ্রহণ করতে সাহায্য করবে, এইভাবে আমরা দুর্দশা কলকারীদের সাথে মোকাবিলা করার জন্য যে দক্ষতাগুলি ব্যবহার করি তা উন্নত করতে। বছরের পর বছর ধরে আমরা দুস্থ বা আত্মঘাতী কলকারীদের থেকে হাজার হাজার কল পরিচালনা করেছি, যাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ নিজের জীবন নেওয়ার চেষ্টা করেছে। আমাদের প্রশিক্ষিত স্বেচ্ছাসেবকরা সহানুভূতি এবং গোপনীয়তার সাথে এই কলগুলি পরিচালনা করে। আমাদের সংখ্যার প্রচার নিশ্চিত করবে যে আরও বেশি সংখ্যক মানুষ এই বিনামূল্যে পরিষেবা সম্পর্কে জানে এবং দুর্দশার সময়ে সাহায্যের জন্য পৌঁছায়।
The theme for this 3-day convention was: ‘Celebrating Life in the City of Joy’. In their words, more than 120 delegates from the Befriends approved center have confirmed their participation. The conference, scheduled to be held between 3rd and 5th February 2023, will help us to increase our knowledge, adopt best practices, thus improving the skills we use to deal with distress callers. Over the years we have handled thousands of calls from distressed or suicidal callers, some of whom have tried to take their own lives. Our trained volunteers handle these calls with empathy and secrecy. The promotion of our numbers will ensure that more and more people know about this free service and reach out for help in times of distress.
