মালদা: ফলের রাজা বলা হয় আমকে। ফজলি হোক কিংবা হিমসাগর বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির আম রয়েছে। সমস্ত প্রজাতির আমের চাহিদা রয়েছে রাজ্য ছড়িয়ে দেশ বিদেশেও। গোটা ভারতবর্ষে আম পাওয়া গেলেও পশ্চিমবঙ্গে আমের চাহিদা তুলনামূলকভাবে অনেক বেশি। তারমধ্যে প্রায় ৭০ শতাংশ আম উৎপাদন হয় কেবলমাত্র মালদাতেই। জেলার অর্থনীতির একটা বড় অংশ নির্ভর করে আমের ওপর। এবছর আগাম গাছে দেখা দিয়েছে আমের মুকুল। ফলে জামাইষষ্ঠীতে আম কিনতে আর নাজেহাল হতে হবে না জামাইদের। জামাইষষ্ঠীতেই মিলবে মালদার জগৎবিখ্যাত বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির আম। বুধবার সাহাপুর এলাকায় সাংবাদিকদের মুখোমুখি হয়ে মালদা ম্যাংগো মার্চেন্ট অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের সভাপতি উজ্জ্বল সাহা জানান, এবছর আবহাওয়া এখনো পর্যন্ত আমের জন্য অনুকূল। প্রায় সাড়ে ৩১ হাজার হেক্টর জমিতে আম চাষ হয়েছে। প্রায় চার লক্ষ মেট্রিক টন আম উৎপাদন হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। সারা ভারতবর্ষে যা উৎপাদন হয় তার মধ্যে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ অন্যতম। তার মধ্যে প্রায় ৭০ শতাংশ আম উৎপাদন হয় মালদাতেই। এবছর আগাম মুকুল দেখা দিয়েছে। ফলে আবহাওয়া অনুকূল থাকলে? জামাইষষ্ঠীতেই আমের স্বাদ নিতে পারবেন জামাইরা।
