মালদা: উত্তর দিনাজপুরের কালিয়াগঞ্জে পুলিশের গুলিতে এক বিজেপি কর্মীর মৃত্যুর অভিযোগ তুলে শুক্রবার ১২ ঘন্টা ধর্মঘটের ডাক দিয়েছে রাজ্য বিজেপি নেতৃত্ব। তার প্রভাব সকাল থেকেই লক্ষ্য করা গেল মালদা জেলায়। মালদা শহরের প্রাণকেন্দ্র রথবাড়ি এলাকায় জাতীয় সড়কের ওপর বসে গিয়ে বিক্ষোভ প্রদর্শন করলেন বিজেপি কর্মীরা। একাধিক গাড়ি আটকে দেওয়া হয় বিজেপি কর্মীদের পক্ষ থেকে। শুক্রবার সকাল থেকেই মালদা শহরের বুকে অন্যান্য দিনের মতো ভিড় লক্ষ্য করা গেল না। হাতে গোনা কয়েকটি মাত্র যানবাহন চলাচল করতে দেখা যায়। তবে রাস্তায় ছিল সরকারি বাস। শহরের রথবাড়ি সবজি মার্কেট সকাল থেকে খোলা থাকলেও বেলা বাড়তে বন্ধ হয়ে যায়। তবে সকাল থেকেই শহরের বিচিত্রা মার্কেট ছিল বন্ধ। এদিকে ১২ ঘণ্টার এই ধর্মঘট সফল করতে সকাল থেকেই ঝান্ডা হাতে নিয়ে পথে নামে মালদা জেলা বিজেপি নেতৃত্ব। শহরের প্রাণকেন্দ্র রথবাড়ি এলাকায় জাতীয় সড়কের ওপর বসে গিয়ে বিক্ষোভ প্রদর্শন করেন তারা। তার পাশাপাশি ধর্মঘট উপেক্ষা করে চলাচল একাধিক যানবাহন আটকে দেওয়া হয়। তবে এই ধর্মঘট ঘিরে যে কোন রকমের অপীতিকর ঘটনা রুখতে মোতায়েন ছিল বিশাল ইংলিশ বাজার থানার পুলিশ।। 
Malda: The state BJP leadership has called for a 12-hour strike on Friday, alleging the death of a BJP worker in Kaliaganj of North Dinajpur in police firing. Its impact was noticed in Malda district since morning. BJP workers staged a sit-in protest on the national highway in Rathbari area, the heart of Malda city. Several vehicles were blocked by BJP workers. From Friday morning, Malda city was not crowded like other days. Only a handful of vehicles are seen plying. But there were government buses on the road. The city’s Rathbari vegetable market is open from morning but closes in the afternoon. However, Bichitra market in the city was closed since morning. Meanwhile, the Malda district BJP leadership took the flag in their hands to make this 12-hour strike a success. They protested by sitting on the national highway in Rathbari area, the heart of the city. Apart from that, several vehicles were blocked in disregard of the strike. However, the police of Vishal English Bazar police station was deployed to prevent any untoward incident around this strike.
