কলকাতা, মে ১৭, ২০২৩- বিশ্ব টেলিকম দিবস উপলক্ষ্যে এক আলোচনা সভার আয়োজন করে পাবলিক রিলেশনস সোসাইটি অফ ইন্ডিয়া,কলকাতা চ্যাপ্টার। এই অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন তথ্য ও যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তি ক্ষেত্রের একাধিক আধিকারিক ও এই পেশায় যুক্ত একাধিক ব্যক্তিত্ব। এদিনের অধিবেশনে আইসিটির সম্ভাবনাকে উন্নয়নশীল দেশগুলিতে ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তনের জন্য অনুঘটক হিসেবে চিহ্নিত করে। অনুষ্ঠানের প্রধান অতিথি ছিলেন কলকাতা টেলিফোনস, বিএসএনএল-এর চিফ জেনারেল ম্যানেজার দেবাশিস সরকার। সেখানে বক্তব্য রাখার পাশাপাশি তিনি ভারতের টেলিকম সেক্টরের বিভিন্ন বিষয়েও আলোকপাত করেন। বিশ্বব্যপী টেলিযোগাযোগের গুরুত্ব এবং তথ্য ও যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তিতে সর্বজনীন ব্যবহারিক প্রয়োজনীয়তা তুলে ধরার জন্য প্রতি বছর বিশ্ব টেলিকম দিবস উদযাপিত হয়। এটি এই ক্ষেত্রের অগ্রগতিকে স্বীকৃতি দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি সকলের জন্য সংযোগ নিশ্চিত করে এবং ডিজিটাল বিভাজনের সেতুবন্ধনের দিকে নজর দেয়। ১৯৮৯ থেকে ২০০০ সাল পর্যন্ত পশ্চিমবঙ্গ, মণিপুর ও বিহারের টেলিকমিউনিকেশন দপ্তরের বিভিন্ন বিভাগে কর্মরত থেকেছেন দেবাশিষবাবু। এরপর ২০০০ সাল থেকে তিনি পশ্চিমবঙ্গ, অসম এবং কলকাতায় বিভিন্ন পদে অধিষ্ঠিত থেকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে গিয়েছেন বিএসএনএল-কে। বর্তমানে তিনি কলকাতা টেলিফোনসের চিফ জেনারেল ম্যানেজার হিসেবে ম্যানেজমেন্ট, অপারেশন, রাজস্ব উৎপাদন এবং বৃদ্ধির মতো গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দিকগুলির তত্ত্বাবধানের কাজে নিযুক্ত রয়েছেন। এই অনুষ্ঠানের সঞ্চালনা করেন পিআরএসআই,কলকাতা চ্যাপ্টারের চেয়ারম্যান সৌম্যজিৎ মহাপাত্র। বক্তব্যে তিনি তুলে ধরেন কীভাবে টেলিকমিউনিকেশন শিল্পে জ্ঞানের আদান-প্রদান এবং পেশাদারিত্ব বিকাশের জন্য পিআরএসআই,কলকাতা চ্যাপ্টার প্রতিশ্রুতিবদ্ধ রয়েছে।
Kolkata, May 17, 2023- Public Relations Society of India, Kolkata Chapter organized a panel discussion on the occasion of World Telecom Day. Many officials of the field of information and communication technology and many personalities associated with this profession were present in this event. The day’s session highlighted the potential of ICT as a catalyst for positive change in developing countries. Debashis Sarkar, Chief General Manager, Kolkata Telephones, BSNL was the Chief Guest of the function. Apart from speaking there, he also shed light on various issues of India’s telecom sector. World Telecom Day is celebrated every year to highlight the importance of global telecommunications and the universal practical need in information and communication technology. It recognizes progress in this field as well as ensuring connectivity for all and looks at bridging the digital divide. From 1989 to 2000, Debashish Babu worked in various departments of the Department of Telecommunication in West Bengal, Manipur and Bihar. Since 2000, he has taken BSNL forward by holding various positions in West Bengal, Assam and Kolkata. He is currently engaged as Chief General Manager of Kolkata Telephones overseeing key aspects like management, operations, revenue generation and growth. Soumyajit Mohapatra, Chairman of PRSI, Kolkata Chapter moderated the event. In his speech he highlighted how PRSI, Kolkata Chapter is committed to sharing knowledge and developing professionalism in the telecommunication industry.
