কলকাতা, ১৫ ডিসেম্বর, ২০২৩: নেফ্রোকেয়ার ইন্ডিয়া আজ তাদের দুই বছর পূর্ণ করেছে। নিয়মিত ৩০ মিনিটের দ্রুত হাঁটা কিডনিকে সুস্থ রাখে এবং এই বিষয়টি মাথায় রেখে তারা আয়োজন করল ‘আপনার কিডনির জন্য হাঁটা’ – একটি ওয়াকথন। প্রায় ৪০০ জন অংশগ্রহণকারী এবং সেলিব্রিটিদের সঙ্গে নিয়ে এই ওয়াকথন সম্পন্ন হল, যাঁরা এই স্বাস্থ্যকর অনুশীলনের ধারণাটি ছড়িয়ে দেওয়ার জন্য একত্রিত হয়েছিলেন।নেফ্রোকেয়ার থেকে পদযাত্রা শুরু হয়ে হোটেল গোল্ডেন টিউলিপে গিয়ে শেষ হয়। অনুষ্ঠানের পর চা-এর আসরের পাশাপাশি ছিল প্রিয় পরিচালক ডঃ প্রতিম সেনগুপ্তের একটি বার্তা। অনুষ্ঠানে বেশ কয়েকজন বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তি উপস্থিত ছিলেন: নেফ্রো কেয়ারের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও পরিচালক ড. প্রতিম সেনগুপ্ত; নন্দিতা রায়, চলচ্চিত্র নির্মাতা; শিবপ্রসাদ মুখোপাধ্যায়, পরিচালক; ডাঃ তীর্থঙ্কর বাগচি, আইএলএস গ্রুপ অফ হাসপাতালের সিইও; দেবাশীষ দত্ত, সেক্রেটারি মোহনবাগান ক্লাব; আশিস মিত্তল, পরিচালক, গোল্ডেন টিউলিপ হোটেল এবং আরও অনেক বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিত্ব। ইভেন্টটি ম্যাপ ৫ ইভেন্টস দ্বারা পরিচালিত হয়েছিল।

Kolkata, December 15, 2023: India, which is often referred to as the ‘Diabetes Capital of the World’ adds close to 2.5 lakh new patients every year to the pool of people requiring dialysis support due to advanced kidney failure. Highlighting the pressing need for generating awareness around Kidney Care, city-based renal care institution, Nephrocare India, organised a ‘Walkathon’ to commemorate its Foundation Day on December 15.
The advanced renal care institute, which was founded by the renowned nephrologist, Bharat Jyoti Awardee, Dr Pratim Sengupta in 2014, also launched a Mascot – “Mr Nephrocare” on the occasion, to create a connection with common people and spread awareness about various aspects of kidney health, the need to focus on kidney care, the importance of undertaking routine tests for early detection of anomalies and going in for holistic treatment to address any issues about the kidney.
The walk, which started from Nephrocare’s flagship unit at Salt Lake, Kolkata and ended at Hotel Golden Tulip, saw close to 400 participants across various age groups. The event was attended by several eminent personalities including Nandita Roy, Film Maker; Shiboprosad Mukherjee, Director and Debasish Dutta, Secretary Mohan Bagan Club among others.
According to Dr. Pratim Sengupta, Founder and Managing Director of Nephrocare, India has the highest number of prevalent kidney disease patients as diabetes is the leading cause of kidney disease globally. Official estimates suggest that there are around seven crore patients suffering from various chronic kidney diseases but only around 12,881 haemodialysis centres are capable of performing dialysis across the country. Lack of proper infrastructure and access to specialised renal care clinics are some of the main reasons for India to have such a huge burden of end-stage kidney disease patients. Intending to bridge this gap, Nephrocare India has envisioned setting up close to 300 comprehensive renal care facilities, by adopting the hub and spoke model, across the country in the next 8-10 years. The company is looking to rope in partners to support its ambitious growth plans.
The company, which currently has three kidney care clinics apart from a flagship unit in Kolkata, helps address all needs of a patient through its comprehensive units which include a pharmacy, modern dialysis facility, critical renal patient care setup, along with lifestyle Yoga and Nutritional care departments, backed by its unique patient-centric IT solution. The company plans to set up around 22 such high-end facilities by March 2026 and of this, four centres will be opened by the end of the current fiscal. It is exploring various options for raising funds, including an initial public offer (IPO), to meet its growth objective.
According to estimates, India’s dialysis market is projected to grow from $2.113 billion in 2022 to $4.368 billion by 2030, registering a CAGR of 9.50% during the forecast period of 2022 to 2030. The Indian dialysis market is growing at a significant rate, driven by factors such as an increasing prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD), a growing geriatric population, and an increasing awareness of the availability and benefits of dialysis treatment.
