নিজস্ব সংবাদঃ 14 ফেব্রুয়ারী বুধবার সকাল ৯ টায় Little Memorial School Bansdroni, স্কুল প্রাঙ্গণে প্রতিবছরের মতো এবারও শিশুদের হাতেখড়ি উৎসব অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। এই উৎসবে দুই থেকে পাঁচ বছর বয়সী যেকোনো শিশু হাতেখড়ি নিতে পারবে সনাতন ধর্ম মতে, প্রতিবছর মাঘ মাসের শুক্লা পঞ্চমী তিথিতে সাদা রাজহাঁসে চেপে বিদ্যা ও জ্ঞানের দেবী সরস্বতী পৃথিবীতে আসেন। সে অনুসারে সারাদেশে সরস্বতী পূজা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। দেবীর সামনে ‘হাতে খড়ি’ দিয়ে শিশুদের বিদ্যাচর্চার সূচনা হয়। হাতে খড়ি মানে ঠিক কি ? কবে থেকে এর প্রচলন শুরু ? 
আক্ষরিক অর্থে হাতে খড়ি হচ্ছে লেখাপড়ার সাথে শিশুর প্রথম পরিচয়। জন্মের পর থেকে একটি শিশুর জীবনে যতোগুলো উৎসব পালন করা হয়, হাতে খড়িও তেমনই একটি উল্লেখযোগ্য উৎসব। বহু প্রাচীনকাল থেকেই হাতে খড়ির প্রচলন ছিল। সেই প্রাচীনকালে শিশুকে যখন প্রথম বর্ণমালার সঙ্গে পরিচয় করানো হতো তখন তাদের হাতে বাঁশ বা খড়িমাটি দিয়ে বিশেষভাবে তৈরি কলম ধরিয়ে দেওয়া হতো। আর শিশুটি সেই কলম দিয়ে গাছের পাতা বা স্লেট জাতীয় কিছুতে আঁকিবুকি করতো। আর হাতে ধরে ধরে বইয়ের বর্ণমালার তাকে দেখানো হতো, আর বলতে বলা হতো। একেই বলা হতো হাতে খড়ি, মানে লেখাপড়ার প্রথম পাঠের সঙ্গে তার পরিচয় হলো। ঠিক এভাবেই আমরা গত বছর অর্থাৎ ২০২৩ আমাদের রাজ্যের রাজ্যপালের হাতেখড়ি উৎসব রাজভবনেই হতে দেখেছি রাজ্যের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের হাত ধরে। এই হাতে খড়ি অনুষ্ঠানের জন্য মূলত বিদ্যার দেবী স্বরস্বতী পুজার সময়টাই ধরে নেন। মাঘ মাসের শুক্ল পঞ্চমী তিথিতে সরস্বতী পূজা পালন করা হয়। সকাল বেলায় ছোট্ট শিশুদের হাতে খড়ি দেন বাবা-মা-রা। সাথে থাকেন পুরোহিত। তারা মা দেবীর আশীর্বাদের জন্য শিশুদের হাতে কাগজ-কলম অথবা স্লেট-চক তুলে দেন। ছোট্ট একটা রীতি, কিন্তু তাদের কাছে এর মাহাত্ম্য অপরিসীম। হাতে খড়িটা এখন উৎসব শিশুদের প্রথম পাঠে হাতে খড়িটা এখন রীতিমতো উৎসবে পরিণত হয়েছে…

Literally, chalk in hand is a child’s first introduction to education. As many festivals are celebrated in a child’s life since birth, Hati Khari is one of the most significant festivals. Hand chalk has been in use since ancient times. In those ancient times, when children were first introduced to the alphabet, they were given a specially made pen made of bamboo or clay. And the child used to scratch something like a leaf or a slate with that pen. And the alphabet of the book was shown to him by hand, and he was asked to say it.
