কলকাতা, ফেব্রুয়ারি ৯, ২০২৪: শুক্রবার অ্যাডামাস বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে অনুষ্ঠিত হল প্রতিষ্ঠানের সপ্তম সমাবর্তন অনুষ্ঠান। ২০২৩ সালের স্নাতক, স্নাতকোত্তর এবং পিএইচডি-তে সফল পড়ুয়াদের সম্মানিত করা হয় এদিন। অনুষ্ঠানে বিশিষ্ট অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন নোবেল শান্তি পুরস্কার জয়ী কৈলাশ সত্যার্থী। উপস্থিত পড়ুয়াদের উদ্দেশ্যে সমাবর্তন ভাষণও দেন তিনি।
এছাড়াও অনুষ্ঠানে অতিথির আসনে ছিলেন পদ্মশ্রী ভিএস চৌহান, ইউজিসি ও ন্যাক (UGC & NAAC) -এর প্রাক্তন চেয়ারম্যান এবং রাজ্যের শিক্ষামন্ত্রী ব্রাত্য বসু। এদিনের সমাবর্তন অনুষ্ঠানে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মোট ১২৫৬ জন পড়ুয়ার হাতে স্নাতক ও স্নাতকোত্তর স্তরের ডিগ্রি, সোনা ও রুপোর মেডেল এবং পিএইচডি ডিগ্রি তুলে দেওয়া হয়।
পড়ুয়াদের স্বীকৃতি জানানোর পাশাপাশি এদিনের সমাবর্তন অনুষ্ঠানে সাম্মানিক ডিগ্রি দেওয়া হয় চার বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিত্বকে, যাঁরা সমাজের বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে নিজেদের অবদান রেখেছেন। তাঁরা হলেন সিএন রঘুপতি, ইনফোসিস ইন্ডিয়া বিজনেস-এর প্রধান; বিশিষ্ট মনোবিজ্ঞানী মিনু বুধিয়া; প্রখ্যাত হৃদরোগ বিশেষজ্ঞ ড. তরুণ প্রহারাজ; এবং বিখ্যাত চিত্র পরিচালক গৌতম ঘোষ।
উল্লেখ্য, শিশুদের ওপর নির্যাতন ও দমনের বিরোধিতা এবং সকলের জন্য শিক্ষার অধিকারকে স্বীকৃতি দিতে অক্লান্ত পরিশ্রম করেন কৈলাশ সত্যার্থী। এই দুই বিষয়কে মান্যতা দিতে তাঁকে বহু কাঠ-খড় পোড়াতে হয়। কিন্তু তবু সেই কাজের প্রতি তাঁর নিষ্ঠা, একাগ্রতা এবং সাফল্য লাভের জন্য অদম্য জেদের কারণেই নোবেল শান্তি পুরস্কার পান তিনি। ১৯৮০ সালে ‘বচপন বাঁচাও আন্দোলন’-এর মধ্যে দিয়ে শুরু হয় তাঁর সামাজিক ন্যায়বিচার এবং সবার জন্য সাম্য, শান্তি ও শিক্ষার অধিকার চাওয়ার লড়াই।
নোবেল শান্তি পুরস্কার জয়ী কৈলাশ সত্যার্থী শিক্ষার্থীদের উদ্দেশ্যে বলেন, প্রতিটি মানুষের জীবনে যে বা যাঁরা কোনওভাবে অবদান রেখেছেন, তাঁদের প্রতি প্রত্যেক মানুষের কৃতজ্ঞতা জানানো উচিত। তিনি আরও বলেন, পড়ুয়াদের উচিত অধ্যাপকদের পাশাপাশি নিজেদের অভিভাবক এবং শিক্ষকদের কাছেও সমানভাবে চিরকৃতজ্ঞ থাকা। কারণ, তাঁদের হাত ধরেই ছোট থেকে পথচলা শুরু হয় প্রতিটি মানুষের। এঁরাই সেই মানুষ, যাঁরা প্রাথমিক বিদ্যালয়ে প্রথম বর্ণমালার সঙ্গে পরিচয় করান এবং পড়াশুনোকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যেতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন। এর পাশাপাশি, সত্যার্থী ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের একসঙ্গে পাশাপাশি সারাজীবন পথ চলার জন্যও অনুপ্রাণিত করেন এবং বলেন বিশেষ ভাবে খেয়াল রাখতে যাতে কেউ বাদ না পড়ে।
অনুষ্ঠান সম্পর্কে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের চ্যান্সেলর প্রতিষ্ঠাতা প্রফেসর ড. সমিত রায় বলেন, এই সমাবর্তন আয়োজন শুধুমাত্র পড়াশোনা সংক্রান্ত কৃতিত্বের উদযাপনই নয়, বরং শিক্ষা যে মানব জীবনে রূপান্তর ঘটাতেও সাহায্য করে, তারও প্রমাণ। নোবেল শান্তি পুরস্কার জয়ী কৈলাশ সত্যার্থী ও অন্যান্য বিশিষ্ট অতিথিদের উপস্থিতি আমাদের এই অনুষ্ঠানকে আরও অর্থবহ করে তুলেছে। এর পাশাপাশি ২০২৩ সালের সফল শিক্ষার্থীদের অভিনন্দনও জানান তিনি।
বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর সুরঞ্জন দাস পড়ুয়াদের মেধার বৃদ্ধি এবং তাঁদের জীবনে ইতিবাচক প্রভাবের জন্য বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভূমিকার ওপর জোর দেন। এই সমাবর্তন অনুষ্ঠান কেবল পুঁথিগত বিদ্যার স্বীকৃতির জন্যই নয়, বরং পারিপার্শ্বিক জ্ঞান, সামাজিক ন্যায়বিচার এবং বিশ্বে ইতিবাচক পরিবর্তনের লক্ষ্যে পড়ুয়াদের মূল্যবোধকে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়ার জন্য এক অনুপ্রেরণা হিসেবেও উল্লেখযোগ্য ভূমিকা পালন করেছে।
Kolkata, February 9, 2024 – Adamas University marked a momentous occasion as it hosted its 7th Convocation, celebrating the accomplishments of the graduating class of 2023. The ceremony, held on Friday, witnessed the prestigious presence of Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, who delivered an inspiring convocation address to the gathered graduates.
The distinguished dais featured Padmashri V.S. Chauhan, former chairman of UGC and NAAC, and Shri Bratya Basu, Minister of in Charge, Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal, alongside Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi. The convocation saw the conferring of degrees, Gold and Silver Medals, and PhD degrees upon 1256 deserving students of Adamas University.
In a remarkable highlight, the university also bestowed Honoris Causa degrees upon four eminent personalities for their outstanding contributions to various societal domains. C.N. Raghupati, Head of Infosys India Business; Minu Budhia, a renowned psychotherapist; Dr. Tarun Praharaj, a distinguished cardiologist; and Goutam Ghose, an acclaimed film director, were honoured with these prestigious awards.
Kailash Satyarthi, a laureate of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, received special recognition for his unwavering commitment to advocating against the suppression of children and championing the right to education for all. His establishment of the ‘Bachpan Bachao Andolan’ in 1980 marked the inception of the first people’s movement for social justice, equity, education, and peace for all.
Nobel Peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi addressed the students and said that each one should express their gratitude to everyone who has made a contribution in life. The students remain thankful to their professors as well as to their parents and the teachers who have taught alphabets in the primary school and who have taught reading and writing. Kailash Satyarthi also inspired the students to walk together so that no one feels left out.
Prof. (Dr.) Samit Ray, Founder Chancellor of Adamas University, expressed that the convocation was not only a celebration of academic achievements but also a testament to the transformative power of education. The presence of Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi and other distinguished guests elevated the commitment to nurturing knowledge and fostering societal change. He congratulated the students of the Class of 2023 for their remarkable journey.
