কলকাতা, 27 মার্চ, 2024 – মিউজিক ইন্ডাস্ট্রির ভেতরে বৌদ্ধিক সম্পত্তি অধিকারের সচেতনতা প্রসারে এবং মিউজিক ব্যাবসা ও পাবলিশিং সম্পর্কে মিউজিক ক্রিয়েটর ও স্বাধীন শিল্পীদে শিক্ষিত করার একটি প্রচেষ্টায় গীতিকার, কম্পোজার ও পাবলিশারদের উপস্থাপক ইন্ডিয়ান পারফর্মিং রাইট সোসাইটি লিমিটেড (আইপিআরএস), দেশব্যাপী আন্তঃসক্রিয় কর্মশালা শুরু করেছে, যার নাম ‘মাই মিউজিক মাই রাইট, ক্রিয়েটর্স কানেক্ট‘ কর্মসূচি, কলকাতার ডলবি ল্যাবসের সঙ্গে যৌথতায়। গোটা দেশের মিউজিক ক্রিয়েটরদের সমর্থনের জন্য আইপিআরএসের প্রতিজ্ঞাবদ্ধতার ক্ষেত্রে এটি একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মাইলফলক।
ইওয়াই-এর সাম্প্রতিক একটি সমীক্ষা, নাম ‘দ্য মিউজিক ক্রিয়েটর ইকোনমি দ্য রাইজ অব মিউজিক পাবলিশিং ইন ইন্ডিয়া‘, দেখিয়েছে ভারতে বার্ষিক 20,000 ওরিজিন্যাল সং তৈরি হলেও মিউজিক ক্রিয়েটররা বহু চ্যালেঞ্জের সম্মুখীন হচ্ছেন। আর্থিক বাধা ও উন্নত মিউজিক প্রডাকশনের জন্য প্রয়োজনীয় দক্ষতা এবং আর্থিক কৌশল ছিল ক্রিয়েটরদের মধ্যে পরিচিত, মাত্র 60% তাদের লক্ষ্য অর্জন করতে পারে একমাত্র সংগীত থেকে জীবনযাপনের মাধ্যমে। ‘মাই মিউজিক, মাই রাইটস’ ক্যাম্পেনে জোর দেওয়া হয়েছে এসব চ্যালেঞ্জের ওপর কর্মশালা, সেমিনার ও অন্যান্য ক্রিয়াকলাপ দ্বারা, অনলাইন ও অফলাইন উভয় মাধ্যমেই যাতে ক্রিয়েটরদের শক্তিশালী করা যায় আরও কার্যকারীভাবে মিউজিক ইন্ডাস্ট্রিতে কাজ করার জন্য।

কলকাতা ও সংশ্লিষ্ট এলাকার স্বাধীন শিল্পী ও মিউজিক ক্রিয়েটররা উপস্থিত ছিলেন কর্মশাায়, যা তাদের অফার করেছে অনন্য প্ল্যাটফর্ম যাতে গান লেখা, স্বত্ব সামলানো, রয়ালটি, ডলবি অ্যাটমসের সঙ্গে আধুনিক সাউন্ড প্রডাকশন কৌশলের বিষয়ে অন্তর্দৃ্ষ্টি লাভ করেন তাঁরা, এবং মিউজিক ইন্ডাস্ট্রিতে শিল্পীদের যাত্রাপথ আবিষ্কার করে। এইসঙ্গে এই ইভেন্টে ছিল অংশগ্রহণকারীদের জন্য নেটওয়ার্কিং সুযোগ, সম্ভাব্য যৌথতা লালন ও ভবিষ্যৎ সুযোগ। এই ইমার্সিভ অভিজ্ঞতা অংশগ্রহণকারীদের হাতিয়ার ও প্রেরণায় সজ্জিত করেছে যা দরকার সদা পরিবর্তনশীল মিউজিক ল্যান্ডস্কেপে নিজেকে তৈরি করতে।
জিৎ গাঙ্গুলি গায়ক সুরকার, লেবেল মালিক এবং আইআরএস বোর্ড অফ ডিরেক্টর বলেন, “একজন সুরকার হিসাবে আমি শিল্পের জটিলতাগুলি নেভিগেট করার ক্ষেত্রে সংগীত নির্মাতারা যে সমস্ত চ্যালেঞ্জগুলোর মুখোমুখি হন তা দেখেছি।‘মাই মিউজিক মাই রাইটস’-এর মতো উদ্যোগগুলো সংগীত নির্মাতাদের শুধুমাত্র শিক্ষিতই করবে না বরং তাদের আইপি রক্ষা করতে এবং তাদের অধিকার নিশ্চিত করতে ক্ষমতায়ন করবে। সহযোগিতা এবং সম্মিলিত পদক্ষেপ্র মাধ্যমে আমরা সংগীত নির্মাতাদের উন্নতির জন্য আরও ন্যায়সঙ্গত এবং টেকসই পরিবেশ তৈরি করতে পারি।”

“মাই মিউজিক মাই রাইটস” প্রচারাভিযান ভারত জুড়ে সংগীত নির্মাতাদের সমর্থন ও ক্ষমতায়নের জন্য আইপিআরএস-এর প্রতিশ্রুতিকে পুনর্ব্যক্ত করে। আগামী সপ্তাহগুলোতে সারা দেশের শহরগুলোতে আসন্ন কর্মশালার পরিকল্পনা সঙ্গে আইপিআরএস-এর লক্ষ্য হল আরও বৃহত্তর শ্রোতাদের কাছে পৌঁছানো এবং আরও অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক এবং ন্যায়সঙ্গত সংগীতের ইকোসিস্টেম গড়ে তোলা।

Kolkata, March 27, 2024 – The Indian Performing Rights Society Limited (IPRS), representing songwriters, composers and publishers, in an effort to promote awareness of intellectual property rights within the music industry and educate music creators and independent artists about music business and publishingLaunched nationwide interactive workshops, the ‘My Music My Write, Creators Connect’ programme, in collaboration with Dolby Labs, Kolkata. This is an important milestone in IPRS’s commitment to support music creators across the country.
.A recent study by EY, titled ‘The Music Creator Economy The Rise of Music Publishing in India’, showed that despite 20,000 original songs being produced in India annually, music creators are facing many challenges. Financial constraints and the skills and financial strategies required for advanced music production were known among creators, with only 60% achieving their goals by making a living from music alone. The ‘My Music, My Rights’ campaign emphasizes these challenges through workshops, seminars and other activities, both online and offline, to empower creators to work more effectively in the music industry.
The event featured intimate talks with experts and renowned creators in the domain, industry insiders and panellists, Music Director and Singer, Label Owner and IPRS Board Member Jeet Ganguly; Composer, singer, songwriter, label owner, educator, poet. Upali Chatterjee; Singer, lyricist, composer and poet Siddharth Shankar Roy (Sindh); Singer, songwriter, independent artist Keshav Dey; Head of Artist & Label Partnerships – Spotify India’s Padmanabhan NS; Karan Grover, Senior Director, India, Middle East and Africa, Dolby Labs; Founder of Music ConnectPresident Kaushik Dutta and CEO Phonographic Digital Limited (PDL) Prashant Dogra.Independent artistes and music creators from Kolkata and surrounding areas attended the workshop, which offered them a unique platform to gain insight into songwriting, rights management, royalties, modern sound production techniques with Dolby Atmos, and the artist’s journey in the music industryby discoveringThe event also provided networking opportunities for participants, fostering potential partnerships and future opportunities. This immersive experience equips participants with the tools and motivation needed to create themselves in the ever-changing music landscape.
Jeet Ganguly singer composer, label owner and IRS Board of Directors said, “As a composer I have seen the challenges that music producers face in navigating the complexities of the industry.Initiatives like ‘My Music My Rights’ will not only educate music creators but also empower them to protect their IP and assert their rights. Through collaboration and collective action, we can create a more equitable and sustainable environment for music creators to thrive.”
