Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and undertaking routine tests are key to ensuring good reproductive health

Kolkata, December 13, 2024: Close to 15-20 per cent of women globally have difficulty in conceiving naturally and the proportion is gradually increasing because of the high levels of stress, poor eating habits and lack of physical fitness. Women generally tend to lose fertility between 35-45 years of age, Dr Karunakar Marikinti, Sessional Consultant Gynaecologist and IVF specialist, said.

In a first-of-its-kind day-long workshop on USG machine knowledge conducted at the Vivacity

Multispeciality Hospital at Madhyamgram, Dr Marikinti, who is a Senior Faculty member at the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG), London, UK, spoke about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and the need for undertaking certain routine tests to ensure women’s reproductive health.

“The condition inside the reproductive tract affects the overall reproductive health and could impact the fertility, lead to miscarriage, hinder growth of babies as well as the general health of women throughout her life. So, it is important to do telescoping and look into the details to understand if anything is wrong,” he said, highlighting the importance of precise radiological tests and USG.
