● Narayana Health – Howrah sets new precedent in highly complex surgical procedures, unique initiative in bladder treatment in East India Howrah, November 2024: A 24-year-old youth, a 78-year-old veteran, and a 45-year-old man – all suffered from life-threatening bladder complications. Recently, their life started anew with advanced bladder and robotic treatment at Narayana Health – Howrah. In the first case, a 24-year-old man was diagnosed with a rare and complex problem called Primary Bladder Neck Obstruction (PBNO). This severely affected his bladder function and quality of life. On advanced imaging, the 7.1×6.5×5.7 cm tumor partially covered interstitial organs and was attached to the renal vein. The team of doctors performed a very delicate surgery and removed the tumor completely. Dr Bhargava said, “It had to be done with great planning and precision considering the tumor’s proximity to important blood vessels and the age of the patient. The patient is now back to normal life and faces very little disruption.” In the third case, a 45-year-old man was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma (RCC). He underwent a mini-invasive robotic radical nephrectomy using the Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System. This process reduces post-operative suffering and allows for a faster recovery.
