Kolkata, Saturday, April 11, 2026: Mohun Bagan Super Giant will look to return to winning ways and put pressure on league leaders Mumbai City FC when they face Punjab FC in the Indian Super League 2025-26 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Sunday, April 12, 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30 IST. In the early kick-off, Inter Kashi FC will look for its second consecutive victory when it takes on a winless Mohammedan SC at the Kalyani Stadium in Kolkata. The early kick-off is scheduled for 17:00 IST. Both matches will be streamed live on FanCode and telecast on Sony Sports TEN 2.

Mohun Bagan SG vs Punjab FC

In the evening fixture, Mohun Bagan Super Giant returns to the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan seeking a strong response to keep pace in the title race, having been held to a 1-1 draw by Jamshedpur FC after conceding a stoppage-time equaliser. Currently sitting in fourth position with 14 points from seven games, head coach Sergio Lobera’s side will look to collect maximum points at home to close the gap on the league leaders and solidify their title hopes. A win would elevate the Mariners to 17 points, bringing them close to the front-runners. Punjab FC travels to Kolkata, aiming to stage an upset against the heavyweights, buoyed by a resilient 2-1 comeback victory over Mohammedan SC. Having climbed to seventh in the standings with 11 points from six matches, a positive away result would see the Shers draw level with Mohun Bagan on 14 points.

Historically, Mohun Bagan Super Giant have completely dominated this fixture. In their four previous ISL encounters, the Mariners boast a perfect record with four victories, outscoring Punjab FC 10 to two overall. Their most recent clash in February 2025 saw Mohun Bagan secure a commanding 3-0 home victory at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan. Reflecting on their recent form, Mohun Bagan SG head coach Sergio Lobera highlighted the importance of a sharp start. “We need to improve further on set pieces and find solutions, not excuses,” Lobera explained. “Punjab FC plays attacking football, but we plan to improve our own game. We have to stay focused. My only goal is to get three points.”

Mohun Bagan SG player Abhishek Tekcham added, “It’s against my old club, so we have to do well. We need to learn from our past mistakes, get three points, and climb up the table. Punjab FC is a very good team with players who can run up and down the pitch without tiring. It will be a challenge for me to face them.” For Punjab FC, head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis acknowledged the challenging circumstances but demanded a spirited performance from his squad. “Mohun Bagan is a good team with home advantage, but our duty is to play our style,” Dilmperis stated. “In all our games so far, we have been better than our opponents, which gives us confidence.” Punjab FC player Samir Zeljković echoed the sentiment. “We need to stay fully concentrated the whole game, all 90-plus minutes,” Zeljković noted. “I hope tomorrow we will have a good game and show the best of us.”

Inter Kashi FC vs Mohammedan SC

Inter Kashi FC returns to action, aiming to build on the momentum from their recent 2-1 victory over Chennaiyin FC. Currently sitting ninth in the standings with eight points from seven matches, a victory on Sunday would take them to 11 points, enabling them to climb further into the top half of the table. Mohammedan SC, meanwhile, arrived searching for a much-needed point in the season after a narrow 1-2 defeat to Punjab FC, where they surrendered a first-half lead. Languishing at the bottom of the table without a point, the Kolkata side desperately needs a positive result.

Anticipating a competitive fixture, Inter Kashi FC head coach Antonio López Habas pinpointed areas for improvement despite their recent victory. “The problem was individual mistakes, not collective mistakes,” Habas stated. “We have to solve the situation of individual mistakes, and after that, we have to continue to grow in the ISL.” Inter Kashi FC midfielder Asif Khan added, “It’s never pressure for us because from day one we have been preparing. Sometimes the result is not in our favour, but we keep going.” For Mohammedan SC, head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo emphasised the need for resilience and game management. “Protecting a lead against good teams requires a tough mentality and experience, especially in defence,” Wadoo explained. “However, our players are getting more and more experience with time.”

Mohammedan SC player Israfil Dewan noted, “As players in our first ISL season, we are under mental pressure, but the coach helps us stay cool and calm. We hope that we can have a positive result tomorrow and start our comeback to the season.” A victory for Mohun Bagan SG or Punjab FC would firmly consolidate their positions in the upper echelons of the table, with the Mariners potentially drawing level on points with the current league leaders. Conversely, maximum points for Inter Kashi FC or Mohammedan SC would spark crucial climbs in the points table. With such high stakes at both ends of the table, Sunday’s doubleheader promises to be a pivotal matchday in the ISL season.
