রাজা পাটের সাফল্য তুলে ধরতে এবার ঢাকে বোল তুললেন পদ্মশ্রী গোকুল ঢাকি

পরিবেশ দুষণ কমাতে সারা বিশ্ব জুড়ে প্লাস্টিকের বদলে পাটের তৈরি জিনিসের ব্যাবহার বাড়ছে দিন দিন। আর এই অতিরিক্ত পাটের অনেকটাই জোগান দিচ্ছে হায়দ্রাবাদের নুজিভীডু সিডস কোম্পানীর রাজা পাট৷ এই পাটের অপ্রত্যাশিত অধিক উৎপাদন চাষিদের মুখে হাসি ফুটিয়েছে। গত বছরের তুলনায় এবছর পাটের দাম প্রায় দ্বিগুণ বেড়েছে। গতবছর যেখানে প্রতি কুইন্টাল পাটের দাম ছিল ৪০০০ টাকা, এবার তা বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৮০০০ টাকা প্রতি কুইন্টাল । ফলে রাজা পাট চাষে আগ্রহ বেড়েছে রাজ্যের বহু কৃষকের। এনজে-৭০০৫, রাজা পাটের এই নতুন প্রজাতিটি ২০২০ সালে উদ্ভাবন করেন নুজিভীডু সিডস সংস্থার গবেষণা বিভাগের প্রধান বিজ্ঞানী ডঃ মোহাম্মদ মসিউর রহমান। তারপর থেকেই ধীরে ধীরে চাষিদের মধ্যে ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে এই উচ্চমানের পাট বীজের জনপ্রিয়তা। রাজা পাটের আঁশ সাধারণ পাটের তুলনায় অনেক লম্বা ও উন্নত মানের। অন্য প্রজাতির তুলনায় একর প্রতি অন্তত ২ কুইন্টাল বেশি উৎপাদন মেলে। সঙ্গে থাকে কম খরচে চাষ, মোটা ছাল, বেশি লম্বা গাছ (প্রায় ২ ফুট বেশি) ও ভালো মানের আঁশ। যার ফলে চাষিরা একর প্রতি অতিরিক্ত ১০ হাজার টাকা পর্যন্ত লাভের মুখ দেখছেন।এই অভাবনীয় সাফল্যে খুশি রাজ্যের চাষিরা। মালদা জেলার তুলসীহাটা, হরিশচন্দ্রপুর ১ নম্বর ব্লকে এই সাফল্যে অনুষ্ঠিত হল ‘মেগা ফিল্ড ডে’। সেখানে অংশগ্রহণকারী চাষিদের রাজা পাটের গুণাগুণ তুলে ধরেন বিশেষ অতিথি, ২০২৫ সালে পদ্মশ্রী প্রাপ্ত ঢাকি সম্রাট গোকুল চন্দ্র দাস। ঢাকের তালে তালে কৃষকদের মন ভরিয়ে তিনি জানান, “রাজা পাট শুধু ফসল নয়, চাষিদের ভাগ্যবদলের হাতিয়ার হয়ে উঠেছে।” অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত চাষিরা জানান, আগে তারা অন্য প্রজাতির পাট চাষ করতেন। কিন্তু ফলন ও লাভের পরিমাণ ছিল অনেকটাই কম। রাজা পাট চাষ শুরুর পর থেকে তাদের আর্থিক অবস্থা অনেকটাই উন্নত হয়েছে। কেউ কেউ জানিয়েছেন,আগের থেকে অনেক বেশি আয় হচ্ছে এখন চাষীদের এই পাট চাষ করে। নুজিভীডু সিডস সংস্থার তরফে জানানো হয়েছে, রাজা পাট ভবিষ্যতের জন্য একটি টেকসই ও লাভজনক সমাধান। বর্তমানে ভারতে যে ধরনের পাট চাষ হয়, তার আঁশের গুণমান বাংলাদেশের তুলনায় কম। ফলে শিল্পক্ষেত্রে সমস্যা হয়। কিন্তু রাজা এনজে-৭০০৫ সেই সমস্যা দূর করতে সক্ষম বলে দাবি গবেষকদের। এখনও যারা রাজা পাট চাষ শুরু করেননি, তারা বাজারের চড়া দামের খবর শুনে ও প্রতিবেশী চাষিদের সাফল্য দেখে আগ্রহী হচ্ছেন। অনেকেই জানিয়েছেন, আগামী মরসুমে তাঁরা নিশ্চিতভাবে এই বীজ দিয়ে চাষ করবেন। অর্থাৎ রাজা পাট এখন শুধু একটি বীজ নয়, গ্রামীণ অর্থনীতির ভিত শক্ত করার অন্যতম অস্ত্র হয়ে উঠছে। দাম, মান, ফলন তিন দিক থেকেই কৃষকদের জন্য সেরা পছন্দ হয়ে উঠেছে এই নতুন প্রজাতির পাট।

পুষ্পেন্দু সেন স্মারক রক্তদান শিবির

নিজস্ব সংবাদ: ইনকাম ট্যাক্স এমপ্লয়িজ ফেডারেশন (ITEF), বেঙ্গল সার্কেলের উদ্যোগে ৩০তম কমরেড পুষ্পেন্দু সেন স্মারক স্বেচ্ছা রক্তদান শিবির অনুষ্ঠীত হল কলকাতার ধর্মতলায় আয়কর ভবনে। বুধবার শিবিরে ৪৫৬ জন রক্তদাতা স্বতঃস্ফূর্তভাবে রক্তদান করেছেন, যা নিঃসন্দেহে একটি বড় সাফল্যের নজির। আজকের শিবির শুরুর আগেই কলকাতার অন্যান্য শিবিরগুলিতে ২৮৪ জন রক্তদাতা রক্তদান করেছিলেন। আজ দিনের শেষে সংখ্যাটি ছাড়িয়ে যায় ৪৫০-এর গণ্ডি। উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে, মহিলা রক্তদাতাদের অংশগ্রহণ ছিল চোখে পড়ার মতো, যা সমাজের সচেতনতার ইতিবাচক দিক তুলে ধরে। এই অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন আয়কর দফতরের বিশিষ্ট আধিকারিকরা, ITEF-এর নেতৃত্ব, এবং অন্যান্য কর্মীবৃন্দ। তাঁদের সক্রিয় সহযোগিতায় ও আন্তরিক প্রচেষ্টায় এই কর্মসূচি সফলভাবে সম্পন্ন হয়। ITEF শুধু কলকাতা নয়, সারা বাংলার বিভিন্ন মফঃস্বল অফিসেও এই ধরনের স্বেচ্ছা রক্তদান শিবির প্রতিবছরই আয়োজন করে থাকে। সামাজিক দায়বদ্ধতার জায়গা থেকে ITEF বরাবরই এই ধরনের মানবিক উদ্যোগে অগ্রণী ভূমিকা পালন করে এসেছে। বর্তমান সময়ে, যখন রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন ব্লাড ব্যাঙ্ক এবং হাসপাতালগুলিতে রক্তের অভাব প্রকট আকার ধারণ করছে, তখন এই ধরনের স্বেচ্ছামূলক রক্তদান শিবির সমাজের জন্য অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বলে জানিয়েছেন আয়কর দপ্তরের পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ও সিকিম রিজিয়নের প্রিন্সিপ্যাল কমিশনার সুরভি বর্মা গর্গ। উপস্থিত ছিলেন কমিশনার(এডমিনিস্ট্রেশন) এ কে সিং।

বালুরঘাটে তিনশো উননব্বই বছরের প্রাচীন জমিদার স্বর্গীয় সুধীর চন্দ্র চৌধুরীর পরিবারের ডাকরাচন্ডী দুর্গা মাতার পুজো :-

দক্ষিণ দিনাজপুর জেলার প্রাচীন সম্ভ্রান্ত বনেদি বাড়ির দুর্গা পুজোগুলোর মধ্যে অন্যতম হলো বালুরঘাটের হোসেনপুরে আত্রেয়ী নদীর খাঁড়ি সংলগ্ন এলাকায় জমিদার স্বর্গীয় সুধীর চন্দ্র চৌধুরীর পরিবারের ডাকরাচন্ডী দুর্গা মাতার পুজো। এই পুজো তিনশো উননব্বই বছরের প্রাচীন। এই ডাকরাচন্ডী দুর্গা মাতার পুজো দক্ষিণ দিনাজপুর জেলাবাসীর কাছে স্থানীয় এলাকার জমিদার স্বর্গীয় সুধীর চন্দ্র চৌধুরীর পুজো নামে পরিচিত। এই পুজোকে ঘিরে ভক্তদের মুখে বহু অলৌকিক ঘটনা শোনা যায়। বালুরঘাটের হোসেনপুরে ডাকরাচন্ডী দুর্গা মণ্ডপের এলাকাটি আগে বালুরঘাটের ডাকরা মৌজার অন্তর্গত ছিল, ডাকরা মৌজার নামানুসারেই ভক্তদের মাধ্যমে এই দুর্গা মণ্ডপ ডাকরাচন্ডী দুর্গা মণ্ডপ নামে পরিচিতি লাভ করে। স্থানীয় এলাকার জমিদার স্বর্গীয় সুধীর চন্দ্র চৌধুরীর বংশধর সুপ্রিয় কুমার চৌধুরীর কাছ থেকে জানাগেছে – দশ পুরুষ ধরে এই পুজো হয়ে আসছে, আজ থেকে বহুবছর আগে ডাকরাচন্ডী দুর্গা মণ্ডপ এলাকার পাশে ঘন জঙ্গলের ভেতর দিয়েই আত্রেয়ী নদীর মূল স্রোত ধারা বয়ে যেত। সেখানেই পঞ্চবটী বন ছিল। ওই পঞ্চবটী বনেই ঋষিরা ভক্তি ও নিষ্ঠা সহকারে পঞ্চমুন্ডীর আসন স্থাপন করে মা দুর্গার পুজো করতেন, কিন্তু পরবর্তীকালে ঋষিদের অবর্তমানে এই পুজো বন্ধ হয়ে যায়, তারপর ওই পঞ্চমুন্ডীর আসনটি যুগ যুগ ধরে খোলা আকাশের নিচে অযত্নে ও অবহেলায় পরে থাকার পর কালক্রমে মাটির তলায় চলে যায়, জমিদার স্বর্গীয় সুধীর চন্দ্র চৌধুরীর পূর্বপুরুষ রামচন্দ্র মন্ডলকে এরপর মা দুর্গা স্বপ্নাদেশে ওই পঞ্চমুন্ডীর আসনটিকে মাটির তলা থেকে উদ্ধার করে পুনরায় পুজো শুরু করার বিধান দেয়, স্বপ্নাদেশ পাওয়ার ঠিক পরের দিন সকালে মাটি খুঁড়ে ওই পঞ্চমুন্ডীর আসনটি উদ্ধারের পর ঘটা করে ধুমধাম সহকারে দুর্গা পুজো শুরু করেন। কালক্রমে ওই এলাকায় আত্রেয়ী নদীর মূল স্রোত ধারার গতিপথ পরিবর্তন করলে খাঁড়িতে রূপান্তরিত হয়। প্রথম দিকে এই পুজোতে মৃৎশিল্পী, পুরোহিত, পুজোর জোগাড়ী, পুজোর ভোগ রান্নার ঠাকুর ও ঢাকী সবকিছুই বংশানুক্রমিক ভাবে হতো কিন্তু বর্তমানে আর বংশানুক্রমিক ভাবে হয় না। জমিদার সুধীর চন্দ্র চৌধুরীর পিতা জমিদার শশীভূষণ মন্ডলকে ব্রিটিশরা চৌধুরী উপাধি প্রদান করেন। প্রচলিত নিয়মানুযায়ী জন্মাষ্টমী পুজোর দিন কাঠামো শুভক্ষণের মাধ্যমে প্রতিমা তৈরীর কাজ শুরু হয়, প্রতিবছর নতুন কাঠামোতে মায়ের প্রতিমা তৈরী হয়। প্রথম থেকেই এই পুজোতে এক কাঠামোতে ডাকের সাজে মা দুর্গা তার স্বপরিবারে পুজো পেয়ে আসছে। পুজো শুরু হওয়া থেকেই মহাষষ্ঠীর দিনই মাকে রঙের পর চক্ষুদান করে সাজানো হয়। মায়ের প্রতিমাতে সাজানোর সময় প্রচলিত রীতিনীতি অনুসারে কোনরকম পেরেকের ব্যবহার না করে আঠা দিয়ে করা হয়। পুজোতে কোন পাঁঠা বলি হয় না। এই পুজোর মূল বিশেষত্ব হলো পুজোর দিনগুলোতে দিনের বেলায় মাকে নাড়ু, মুড়কি, মোয়া, ফল, বাতাসা ও মিষ্টি দিয়ে ভোগ দেওয়া হয় এবং রাতের বেলায় অন্ন ভোগ দেওয়া হয়। মহাসপ্তমীর দিন রাতে অন্ন ভোগের সঙ্গে সাত রকম ভাজা, লাবড়া ঘাঁটির তরকারি, লুচি, পরমান্ন, পায়েস ও মিষ্টান্ন দিয়ে মাকে ভোগ দেওয়া হয়। এছাড়াও মহাষ্টমীর দিন রাতে অন্ন ভোগের সঙ্গে আট রকম ভাজা ও মহানবমীর দিন রাতে অন্ন ভোগের সঙ্গে নয় রকম ভাজা মাকে ভোগ দেওয়া হয়। ভক্তদের কাছে এই মা সদা জাগ্রত। মায়ের কাছে ভক্তি ভরে কোন কিছু চাইলে মা তার মনের ইচ্ছা পূরণ করেন। সেই কারণে পুজোর দিনগুলোতে বহু দূর দূরান্ত থেকে ভক্তদের এসে মাকে পুজো দিতে দেখা যায়। মহাষ্টমীর দিন সকালে বহু মানুষ এই মন্ডপে পুষ্পাঞ্জলি দেয়। প্রতিবছর মহানবমীর দিন চৌধুরী বাড়ির পক্ষ থেকে বহু মানুষকে মায়ের মহাপ্রসাদ বিতরণ করা হয়। মহাষষ্ঠী থেকে মহানবমী পর্যন্ত প্রতিদিন বিকেল থেকে সন্ধ্যা অবধি মন্ডপে মঙ্গলচন্ডী পালা গান হয়। মহানবমীর দিন সন্ধ্যারতির পরে মায়ের চরণ থেকে ফুল পড়ার দৃশ্য দেখতে বহু ভক্ত উপস্থিত হয়। দশমীর দিন সকালে আগুন নাচ ও চামুণ্ডার মুখা নৃত্যের পাশাপাশি মঙ্গলচন্ডী পালা গান হয়। বিজয়া দশমীর দিন স্থানীয় এলাকার আদিবাসী সম্প্রদায়ের মানুষজনরা মন্ডপ থেকে মাকে কাঁধে করে নিয়ে গিয়ে আত্রেয়ী নদীতে বিসর্জন দেয়। পূর্বে আত্রেয়ী নদীতে বিসর্জনের আগে মাকে নৌকোতে সাত পাক ঘোরানো হতো। কিন্তু ১৯৯০ সাল থেকে বিসর্জনের আগে এই নৌকায় ঘোরানোর প্রথা বন্ধ হয়ে যায়। মন্ডপ থেকে বিসর্জনের পথে নিয়ে যাওয়ার সময় বালুরঘাট শহরের বিভিন্ন রাস্তাঘাটে ভক্তরা দাঁড়িয়ে থেকে পান, সুপারি, ধান, দুর্বা ও বাতাসা দিয়ে মাকে বরণ করে।

সংস্কারের অভাবে মৃত্যু ফাঁদে

কুমারগঞ্জ ব্লকের ব্রিজ থেকে নেমে কুমারগঞ্জ থানা যাবার রাস্তাটি বেহালদশা । সংস্কারের অভাবে মৃত্যু ফাঁদে পরিনত হয়েছে এই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ রাস্তাটি। এই রাস্তার মাধ্যমে কুমারগঞ্জ থানা কুমারগঞ্জ কলেজ কুমারগঞ্জ হাই স্কুল, কুমারগঞ্জ কালীবাড়ি বাজার, কুরাহা দশমাইল মাঝিয়ান একাধিক গ্রামের বাসিন্দারা। নিত্য প্রয়োজনীয় কাজে সব সময় ব্যবহৃত হয় এই রাস্তাটি । মিলন মন্দিরে নার্সারি প্রাথমিক ও মাধ্যমিক স্কুলের ও কলেজের ছাত্রছাত্রীরা এই রাস্তায় যাতায়াতের ফলে সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হচ্ছেন। পাশাপাশি রোগীদের বড়হার এবং বালুরঘাট হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যেতে ব্যাপক সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হচ্ছেন স্থানীয় বাসিন্দারা। কিছুদিন আগে নামমাত্র রাস্তার সারায় কাজ হলেও তা সম্পূর্ণরূপে আশানুরূপ না হওয়ায় ক্ষোভ ফেটে পড়েছেন স্থানীয় বাসিন্দারা। ড্রেন না থাকায় রাস্তাটিতে জল জমেই থাকে একটু বৃষ্টি হলেই, সব সময় ব্যবহৃত এই রাস্তাটি। ব্রিজ থেকে যানবাহন নিয়ে নিচে নামতে গেলেই এই রাস্তাটির দরকার। নিত্য দিনের ভোগান্তিতে গ্রামের সবাই। দ্রুত সংস্কার হোক এই রাস্তাটি দাবি প্রত্যেকের।

পাঁচ মাসের শিশুর কিডনি বাঁচাতে মুকুন্দপুরের মণিপাল হাসপাতালে বিরল অস্ত্রোপচার / Five-month-old car driver’s son saved from irreversible kidney damage at Manipal Hospital, Mukundapur

৪ আগস্ট ২০২৫, কলকাতা: নদিয়া জেলার নবদ্বীপের পাঁচ মাসের একটি শিশু, আয়ুষ সেন (নাম পরিবর্তিত), মুকুন্দপুরের মণিপাল হাসপাতালে সফলভাবে একটি ল্যাপারোস্কোপিক পাইলোপ্লাস্টি (keyhole surgery) অস্ত্রোপচারের মাধ্যমে কিডনির স্থায়ী ক্ষতি থেকে রক্ষা পেয়েছে। এই সংবেদনশীল অস্ত্রোপচারটি সম্পন্ন করেন মণিপাল হাসপাতালের কনসালট্যান্ট পেডিয়াট্রিক সার্জন, ডা. শুভাশিস সাহা। শিশুটি জন্মগত হাইড্রোনেফ্রোসিসে আক্রান্ত ছিল, একটি অবস্থা যেখানে প্রস্রাবের সঠিক প্রবাহে বাধা থাকায় কিডনি অস্বাভাবিকভাবে ফুলে যায়। আয়ুষের সমস্যাটি গর্ভকালীন স্ক্যানে ধরা পড়ে। মাত্র পাঁচ মাস বয়সেই তার কিডনির কার্যক্ষমতা ২০ শতাংশ কমে যায়। তার বাবা বিজয় সেন (নাম পরিবর্তিত), পেশায় গাড়িচালক, ও মা রোমা সেন (নাম পরিবর্তিত), গৃহবধূ—বিভিন্ন হাসপাতালে ঘুরেও সন্তোষজনক চিকিৎসা পাচ্ছিলেন না। অধিকাংশ চিকিৎসকই বলেছিলেন, শিশুটি আরও বড় হলে তবেই অস্ত্রোপচার করা যাবে।

ডা. ললিত কুমার আগরওয়াল (নেফ্রোলজিস্ট) যখন এই কেসটি ডা. শুভাশিস সাহার কাছে রেফার করেন, তখন তিনি সমস্যার গুরুত্ব বুঝে সময় নষ্ট না করে দ্রুত অস্ত্রোপচারের সিদ্ধান্ত নেন। ২৯ জুলাই, মাত্র একটি ৫ মিমি এবং দুটি ৩ মিমি. কেটে আয়ুষের ল্যাপারোস্কোপিক পাইলোপ্লাস্টি সম্পন্ন হয়। সার্জারির পর শিশুটি দ্রুত সুস্থ হয়ে ওঠে এবং মাত্র ৪৮ ঘণ্টার মধ্যেই হাসপাতাল থেকে ছেড়ে দেওয়া হয়। আশ্চর্যের বিষয়, তার পেটে কোনও দৃশ্যমান দাগও পড়েনি।

ডা. শুভাশিস সাহা বলেন, “অনেক সময় গর্ভাবস্থার আল্ট্রাসাউন্ডে ধরা পড়া কিডনির ফোলাভাব আপনা-আপনিই ঠিক হয়ে যায়। তবে কিছু ক্ষেত্রে প্রকৃত ব্লকেজ থাকে, যা অপারেশন না করলে ভবিষ্যতে কিডনির স্থায়ী ক্ষতি হতে পারে। আয়ুষের ক্ষেত্রে, কিডনি ও ইউরেটারের সংযোগস্থলে একটি প্রকৃত বাধা ছিল। প্রাপ্তবয়স্কদের ক্ষেত্রে এই সার্জারি এখন সাধারণ হলেও, এক বছরের কম বয়সী শিশুর ক্ষেত্রে ল্যাপারোস্কোপিক পাইলোপ্লাস্টি এখনও খুবই বিরল, বিশেষত পূর্ব ভারতে। আমরা মণিপাল মুকুন্দপুরে ২০২১ সাল থেকে সাতটি ইনফ্যান্ট কেস এবং ২০১৩ সাল থেকে ১–১৬ বছর বয়সী প্রায় ৭০টি ল্যাপারোস্কোপিক পাইলোপ্লাস্টি সফলভাবে সম্পন্ন করেছি। এর সুবিধাগুলি হল—কম ব্যথা, দ্রুত আরোগ্য, দৃশ্যমান কোনও দাগ না থাকা এবং সবচেয়ে বড় কথা, সময়মতো কিডনির কার্যক্ষমতা রক্ষা।”

শিশুটির বাবা বিজয় সেন বলেন, “আমরা বহু জায়গায় ঘুরেছি, কেউই আমাদের ঠিকভাবে কিছু বলেনি। এমনকি কেউ একজন কিডনি ট্রান্সপ্লান্টের কথাও বলেছিলেন। মুকুন্দপুরের মণিপাল হাসপাতালে এসে ডা. সাহার সঙ্গে দেখা হলে, তিনি আমাদের সবকিছু স্পষ্টভাবে বোঝান এবং আশ্বস্ত করেন যে ছোট একটি (keyhole) সার্জারিতেই আমাদের সন্তানের কিডনি বাঁচানো সম্ভব। এখন আমার ছেলে ধীরে ধীরে সুস্থ হয়ে উঠছে। ডা. সাহা ও তার টিমকে আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ জানাই।” এই সফল অস্ত্রোপচার আবারও প্রমাণ করে মণিপাল হাসপাতাল, মুকুন্দপুরে শিশুদের জটিল কিডনি সমস্যার চিকিৎসায় কতটা উন্নতমানের পরিষেবা পাওয়া যায়। পূর্ব ভারতের প্রথম ডেডিকেটেড পেডিয়াট্রিক নেফ্রো-ইউরোলজি ইউনিট এখানে গড়ে উঠেছে, যা বহু শিশু রোগীকে সুস্থ জীবনের পথ দেখিয়েছে। ডা. শুভাশিস সাহা ও শিশু নেফ্রোলজিস্ট ডা. রাজীব সিনহার নেতৃত্বে এই ইউনিট শিশুদের কিডনি ট্রান্সপ্লান্টও সফলভাবে পরিচালনা করেছে, যা বহু পরিবারকে নতুন আশার আলো দেখিয়েছে।

4^th August 2025, Kolkata: A five-month-old baby boy from Nabadwip in Nadia district recently underwent a successful laparoscopic pyeloplasty—a minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery to correct a severe kidney blockage—at Manipal Hospital, Mukundapur. This delicate procedure, performed by Dr. Subhasis Saha, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at Manipal Hospital, Mukundapur, involved treating congenital hydronephrosis, a condition where the kidney becomes abnormally swollen due to urine buildup caused by an obstruction. Pyeloplasty is a surgical procedure that removes this blockage at the junction where the kidney connects to the ureter, allowing urine to flow freely and preventing further kidney damage.

The baby, Ayush Sen (name changed), had been diagnosed with this condition during a prenatal scan. Such advanced procedures in infants remain rare across the country, making this case a significant milestone. His situation had caused a 20% impairment in the functioning of his kidneys by the age of five months. His parents, Roma Sen (name changed), a homemaker, and Bijoy Sen (name changed), a car driver, had been visiting different hospitals repeatedly but were told to wait until Ayush (name changed) grew up for the operation. When Dr Lalit Kumar Agarwal, a Nephrologist, referred the case to Dr. Subhasis Saha, he understood the gravity of the situation and did not hesitate to act in time to save the 5-month-old from further damage. The laparoscopic pyeloplasty was done on 29th July with only one 5mm and two 3mm cuts. Ayush (name changed) recovered well post-surgery and was discharged within 48 hours without any incision on the abdomen.

Dr. Subhasis Saha, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, Manipal Hospital, Mukundapur, said, “Several kidney dilatations found in prenatal ultrasounds correct themselves. But some are genuine obstructions that, if not treated, can seriously hamper kidney function. In the case of Ayush (name changed), there was a definite blockage at the junction between the kidney and the ureter. Though adult laparoscopic pyeloplasty is prevalent now, infant laparoscopic pyeloplasty is done very infrequently, particularly in children younger than one year of age. While these procedures are routinely performed in other parts of the country, they remain relatively rare in Eastern India. However, we have been doing this successfully for years. In fact, since 2021, only in our hospital, we have had seven infants with laparoscopic pyeloplasties and approximately 70 laparoscopic pyeloplasties in children aged 1–16 years since 2013. The benefits are evident: less pain, quick recovery, no visible marks, and most importantly, timely kidney function preservation.”

Ayush’s father, Bijoy Sen (name changed), “We had been running from one hospital to another for months, and were even told a kidney transplant might be needed. When we came to Manipal Hospital and met Dr. Subhasis Saha, he explained everything clearly and reassured us. He said a small keyhole surgery could save my baby’s kidney. The operation went well, and my son is now recovering. I wish we had come here earlier. I am truly thankful to the doctor and the entire team at Manipal for giving my child a new life.”

Kolkata, 27th July 2025: Bhowanipur 75 Palli, one of Kolkata’s most iconic and culturally vibrant puja committees, commenced its 61st year of Durga Puja celebrations with the auspicious Khuti Puja at its premises on 1/1C, Debendra Ghosh Road, near Netaji Bhavan Metro Station. Following the rituals, the committee unveiled this year’s much-anticipated theme – “Binodini” – a tribute to Nati Binodini, a pioneering figure in Bengali theatre who symbolises courage, dignity, and creative brilliance. The results of ANTHE 2025 will be announced in phases. Results for Class X students will be declared on October 24, 2025, while results for Classes VII to IX will be declared on October 29, 2025. The results of Class V & VI will be declared on November 1st 2025. Results for Classes XI and XII will be announced on November 4, 2025. All results will be available on the official ANTHE website. ANTHE will be a one-hour test comprising 40 multiple-choice questions based on the grade and stream aspirations of students. For Class V-IX students, the questions will cover subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Mental Ability. For Class X students aspiring for medical education, the questions will cover Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mental Ability, while for engineering aspirants of the same class, the questions will cover Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Mental Ability. শ্রীরামপুরে বসলো বিশেষ জাতীয় লোক আদালত

পারিজাত মোল্লা , চিরাচরিত জাতীয় লোক আদালত নয়, এবার রাজ্যের ৫ টি জেলায় বিভিন্ন দিনের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে বসেছিল বিশেষ জাতীয় লোক আদালত। বৃহস্পতিবার দেশের সর্বোচ্চ আদালত সুপ্রিম কোর্টের নির্দেশ অনুযায়ী হুগলির শ্রীরামপুর মহকুমা আদালতে বসেছিল ‘বিশেষ’ জাতীয় লোক আদালত। গোটা রাজ্যে মাত্র ৫ টি জেলায় গড়ে ১ টি করে বিশেষ লোক আদালত বেঞ্চ বসেছে। হাওড়া – পূর্ব বর্ধমান জেলাগুলিতে ইতিমধ্যেই হয়ে গেছে এই জাতীয় আইনী কর্মসূচি। এদিন হুগলি জেলা আইনী পরিষেবা কর্তৃপক্ষ এর সচিব শ্রীমতী মানালী সামন্তের নেতৃত্বে তিন সদস্যের একমাত্র বেঞ্চ-টি বসেছিল শ্রীরামপুর মহকুমা আদালতে । উক্ত বেঞ্চে এডভোকেট মেম্বার হিসাবে ছিলেন আইনজীবী মানস সাঁতরা, সমাজকর্মী মেম্বার হিসাবে ছিলেন কলকাতা হাইকোর্টের ‘নন এডভোকেট মিডিয়েটর’ হিসাবে তালিকাভুক্ত ‘আইনী সংবাদদাতা’ মোল্লা জসিমউদ্দিন।এদিন আইনের ছাত্রী (ইন্টার্ন) দিয়া মুখার্জি ছিলেন লোক আদালতের কাজকর্ম জানতে। হুগলি জেলা আইনী পরিষেবা কর্তৃপক্ষ এর অফিস মাস্টার সাহানা খাতুন বলেন -“বাজাজ ফাইনান্সের তরফে ৬২৬ টি মামলা নথিভুক্ত ছিল। যার একাংশ মিটে গেছে”। জানা গেছে, হুগলি জেলায় বাজাজ ফাইনান্স কর্তৃপক্ষ জেলা আইনী পরিষেবা কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে নির্ধারিত জাতীয় লোক আদালত বসার প্রাক্কালে জমে থাকা মামলার নিস্পত্তি ঘটানোর জন্য বিশেষ লোক আদালত চেয়ে লিখিত আবেদন জানিয়েছিল। সেই আবেদনের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে এই বিশেষ জাতীয় লোক আদালতের বেঞ্চ। অপরদিকে হুগলি জেলা ও দায়রা বিচারক শ্রী শান্তনু ঝার নেতৃত্বে মিডিয়েশন ক্যাম্পেন নিয়ে ব্যাপক প্রচার চলছে সারা জেলাজুড়ে। বিনা খরচে দু’পক্ষের সহমতের ভিত্তিতে কিভাবে দ্রুত মামলার নিস্পত্তি ঘটবে? তা সাধারণ বিচারপ্রার্থীদের কাছে বার্তা পৌঁছে দিচ্ছে সংশ্লিষ্ট জেলা আদালত কর্তৃপক্ষ ।

Apollo Cancer Centres Launches ‘End-O Check’ – An Early Screening and Diagnosis Program for Endometrial and Ovarian Cancers

End-O Check will provide risk-based assessments, diagnostic testing, and symptom evaluation for women, particularly those in the postmenopausal age group.

Kolkata, July 30, 2025: Reinforcing its commitment to preventive oncology for women, Apollo Cancer Centres (ACCs) today launched End-O Check, a comprehensive early detection program targeting women aged 45 and above. The initiative is designed to detect two of the most prevalent gynaecologic cancers—endometrial and ovarian—at an early and more treatable stage. While endometrial cancer often presents with symptoms such as unexpected bleeding or abnormal discharge, many women fail to report these signs early, leading to delayed diagnosis and poorer outcomes. End-O Check is designed with a focus on early detection in high-risk populations, symptom awareness, and timely intervention, empowering women to take proactive steps for their gynaecologic health.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Dinesh Madhavan, President, Group Oncology & International, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, said, “Early detection remains our most powerful ally in improving survival and quality of life in cancer care. Global data indicate a five-year survival rate of around 96% for localised disease. However, survival rates drop substantially when diagnosis is delayed, underscoring the importance of timely detection. Key risk factors include obesity, diabetes, early menstruation, late menopause, and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), all of which are becoming more prevalent among Indian women.”

কলকাতা, ২৭শে জুলাই ২০২৫: দক্ষিণি প্রয়াস ও তার শিক্ষা সংস্থা মাদুরদহ সত্যবৃত্তি বিদ্যালয়ের উদ্যোগে কলকাতা সেন্টার ফর ক্রিয়েটিভিটিতে আয়োজিত হল ৩৩তম প্রতিষ্ঠা দিবস। এ বছরের থিম ছিল “সোশ্যাল মিডিয়া ও ডিজিটাল প্ল্যাটফর্ম ব্যবহারের সঠিক কৌশল”— যার মূল লক্ষ্য ছিল তরুণ প্রজন্মকে ডিজিটাল দুনিয়ায় সচেতন ও গঠনমূলক অংশগ্রহণ সম্পর্কে শিক্ষিত করে তোলা। এই অনুষ্ঠানটিতে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ছাত্রছাত্রী, শিক্ষক, সমাজকর্মী ও সম্মানিত অতিথিরা। অনুষ্ঠানের মূল আকর্ষণ ছিল শিশুদের তৈরি একটি দেয়ালচিত্র, যেখানে বিমানের মাধ্যমে উচ্চাশা ও পরিসরের প্রতীক, বিভিন্ন সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ার আইকন, এবং ডিজিটাল জগতের সুফল ও চ্যালেঞ্জ চিত্রায়িত করা হয়েছিল। এই চিত্রকলার মাধ্যমে তুলে ধরা হয়— ডিজিটাল সাক্ষরতা এবং প্রযুক্তির সচেতন ব্যবহার কীভাবে শিশুদের ক্ষমতায়িত করতে পারে।

অনুষ্ঠানের প্রধান অতিথি, এমপকেট-এর প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক মি. গৌরব জালান বলেন, “আজকের প্রজন্মের জন্য শুধু ডিজিটাল প্ল্যাটফর্মে সক্রিয় থাকা নয়, বরং তার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে দায়িত্ববোধও অত্যন্ত জরুরি। দক্ষিণি প্রয়াসের মতো সংস্থার এই ধরনের উদ্যোগ ডিজিটাল এক্সপোজার ও নৈতিক সচেতনতার মধ্যে সেতুবন্ধন গড়ে তোলে— এবং এই প্রয়াসের অংশ হতে পেরে আমি গর্বিত।” এই উপলক্ষে দক্ষিণি প্রয়াস-এর সভাপতি অনুভূতি প্রকাশ বলেন, “গত তিন দশকেরও বেশি সময় ধরে আমাদের লক্ষ্য একটাই— শিক্ষা, যত্ন এবং সমাজিক অংশগ্রহণের মাধ্যমে ক্ষমতায়ন। আগামী দিনে আমরা কলকাতার একটি আর্থিকভাবে পিছিয়ে পড়া পাড়াকে একটি পরিপূর্ণ, আত্মনির্ভর ও টেকসই কমিউনিটিতে রূপান্তরিত করার প্রয়াসে আছি — যাতে সেটি অন্যদের জন্য একটি মডেল হয়ে উঠতে পারে।”

শিক্ষা, স্বাস্থ্যসেবা, আত্মনির্ভরতা ও টেকসইতা— এই চারটি স্তম্ভের উপর ভিত্তি করেই দক্ষিণি প্রয়াস গড়ে তুলেছে তাদের কমিউনিটি মডেল। এই সংস্থাটি পরিচালনা করে একটি বিদ্যালয়, যেখানে ৩১৭ জন ছাত্রছাত্রী ও ৩৭ জন শিক্ষক রয়েছেন; একটি নারী ক্ষমতায়ন কেন্দ্র যেখানে ৩৫ জন মহিলার সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণ রয়েছে, সঙ্গে রয়েছেন ৫ জন প্রশাসনিক কর্মী; এবং একটি স্বাস্থ্য সচেতনতা কেন্দ্র, যেখানে ১২ জন কর্মী নিয়মিত স্বাস্থ্য শিবির ও সচেতনতা মূলক কর্মসূচি পরিচালনা করেন। ৩৩ বছরের এই যাত্রা শুধুমাত্র একটি উদযাপন নয়— বরং ভবিষ্যতের পথে নতুন করে সংকল্প গ্রহণ করার একটি মুহূর্ত, যেখানে প্রতিটি শিশুকে গড়ে তোলা হবে এক একজন সচেতন, স্বনির্ভর ও সমাজদায়ী নাগরিক হিসেবে।

Kolkata, 27th July 2025: Dakshini Prayas, in collaboration with its educational wing Madurdaha Satyavritti Vidyalaya, successfully celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day at the Kolkata Centre for Creativity. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Learning how to navigate Social Media and Digital Outlets”, aiming to educate young minds on safe and productive engagement in the digital world. The event witnessed the presence of students, educators, social workers, and guests. The venue came alive with an artistic display of the theme, where children showcased a vibrant wall painting depicting elements like an aeroplane symbolising ambition and reach, icons of various social media platforms, and informative visuals highlighting both opportunities and challenges of the digital space. The artwork served as a powerful visual storytelling tool to explain how digital literacy and mindful usage of technology can empower the youth.

Chief Guest Mr. Gaurav Jalan, Founder and MD of mPokket, addressed the audience and shared valuable insights. In his words, “It is crucial for today’s youth to not only be active on digital platforms but also be aware of the responsibilities that come with it. Initiatives like this by Dakshini Prayas bridge the gap between digital exposure and ethical awareness, and I am honoured to be a part of it.” Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Anubhuti Prakash, President of Dakshini Prayas, said, “For over three decades, our mission has been to empower through education, care, and community engagement. As we look to the future, we are committed to transforming an economically weak neighbourhood of Kolkata into a holistic and self-sustaining community by 2030 — a model others can learn from and replicate.”

Dakshini Prayas is built on four foundational pillars: *Education, Health Care, Self-Reliance, and Sustainability. These principles guide all its endeavours — from running *Madurdaha Satyavritti Vidyalaya with 317 students and 37 teachers, to empowering women through its centre with 35 active members and 5 administrative staff, and conducting regular health camps and awareness drives with the support of a dedicated 12-member health team. As the organisation celebrates this landmark year, the focus remains firmly on nurturing responsible, informed, and empowered citizens — capable of leading themselves and their communities toward a brighter, more equitable future.

২৭শে জুলাই বিশ্ব হেড-নেক ক্যান্সার দিবস। এই উপলক্ষে স্টুডেন্টস’ হেলথ হোম, কলকাতা তাদের প্রথম ‘কন্টিনিউয়িং মেডিক্যাল/ডেন্টাল এডুকেশন’ অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজন করে শনিবার, ২৬শে জুলাই ২০২৫ ।ভারতে পুরুষদের মধ্যে হেড-নেক ক্যান্সার অন্যতম প্রধান ক্যান্সার এবং পূর্ব ভারতে হেড-নেক ক্যান্সারের মধ্যে মুখের ক্যান্সারই সবচেয়ে বেশী দেখা যায়। এই রোগগুলি মূলত জীবনধারাজনিত, কারণ তামাক ব্যবহারই এর সর্বাধিক প্রধান কারণ। আক্রান্তরা সাধারণত খেটে খাওয়া মানুষ। আর্থিক সীমাবদ্ধতা বা পেশাগত ব্যস্ততায় এবং সচেতনতার অভাবে প্রায়শই দেরিতে চিকিৎসা করাতে আসেন। এই ক্যান্সারগুলির চিকিৎসা সাধারণত মুখ মন্ডলের বড় বড় অস্ত্রোপচারের মাধ্যমে হয়, মুখাবয়ব পরিবর্তন হয়ে যায়, যা রোগী এবং তাঁর পরিবারের উপর গভীর প্রভাব ফেলে।স্বাভাবিক কার্যকারিতা ও মুখের চেহারা চলনসই ভাবে রক্ষার জন্য উচ্চমানের প্লাস্টিক সার্জারির প্রয়োজন হয় । এই অনুষ্ঠানে বক্তারা ক্যান্সারের কারণ ও বিকাশ, নির্ণয় এবং চিকিৎসা (অঙ্কোসার্জারি, পুনর্গঠন, রেডিওথেরাপি ও কেমোথেরাপি) নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন।

স্টুডেন্টস’ হেলথ হোম-এর রাজ্যজুড়ে ৩৫টি কেন্দ্র রয়েছে এবং তারা রাজ্যব্যাপী একটি ওরাল ক্যান্সার স্ক্রীনিং প্রোগ্রাম চালুর কথা ভাবছে। এই উদ্যোগে সাফল্য অর্জনের চাবিকাঠি হল “ট্রেন দ্য ট্রেইনার্স”, অর্থাৎ অচিকিৎসকদের এমন একটি প্রশিক্ষিত বাহিনী তৈরির পরিকল্পনা, যারা ওরাল ক্যান্সারের লক্ষণ চিনে নিতে পারবে ও তা রিপোর্ট করবে। আশা করা যায়, এর ফলে রোগ দ্রুত ধরা পড়বে ও সফলভাবে চিকিৎসা সম্ভব হবে। পাশাপাশি, SHH আরও কঠোরভাবে তামাক বিক্রি ও ব্যবহারে বিধিনিষেধ আনার জন্য সচেষ্ট হবে এবং স্কুল-কলেজের ছাত্রদের মধ্যে সচেতনতা তৈরির কাজ করবে, যাতে তারা অল্প বয়সেই ক্ষতিকারক তামাকের অভ্যাসে না জড়িয়ে পড়ে।
