নিজস্ব সংবাদ: নিউটাউনের বাসিন্দা সুমিতা বর্মন ফুসফুসের ক্যান্সারে ভুগছেন। গত চার বছর ধরে ক্যান্সারের সঙ্গে লড়াই করছেন। এখন অনেকটাই ভাল আছেন। একইভাবে ক্যান্সারের শিকার কমলা সাহা চ্যাটার্জি। ক্যান্সারকে হারিয়ে আজ তিনি জয়ী। তাঁদের মত আরও অনেকেই নিজেদের লড়াইয়ের কাহিনীর কথা ভাগ করে নিলেন শনিবার। তাদের মধ্যে কেউ কিডনি, ডিম্বাশয়, কোলন তো কেউ আবার ফুসফুস, জিআই ক্যান্সারের শিকার। ক্যান্সার সারভাইভার মাস উপলক্ষে এদিন নিউটাউনে একটি সচেতনতামূলক অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করা হয় এইচসিজি ক্যান্সার সেণ্টারের উদ্যোগে। ২০–২৫ জন রোগী ও তাঁদের পরিজনেরা সামিল হয়েছিলেন। তাঁদের সংবর্ধনা দেওয়া হয়। হাসপাতালের চিফ অপারেটিং অফিসার ডাঃ অমরজিৎ সিং বলেন,‘‌ক্যান্সার জয়ীদের নিয়ে এই ধরণের অনুষ্ঠান প্রথম করা হল। ক্যান্সারজয়ীদের একটু আনন্দ দিতে পরিবেশ বান্ধব যান ‘‌হেরিটেজ ক্যাব রাইড’‌–এ ইকো পার্ক, সিটি সেণ্টার টু সহ নিউটাউনের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় ঘোরানো হয়।’‌ মেডিক্যাল অঙ্কোলজিস্ট ডাঃ শশাঙ্কশেখর দাস বলেন,‘ ক্যান্সার নাম শুনলে রোগীর সঙ্গে বাড়ির সদস্যরাও উৎসাহ হারিয়ে ফেলেন। আর্থিক মানসিক সব দিক থেকে প্রভাব পড়েন। এখন ক্যান্সারের উন্নত আধুনিক চিকিৎসা রয়েছে, যে ক্যান্সার নিয়েও ভালভাবে বাঁচা যায়।’‌ ডাঃ সঞ্চয়ন মণ্ডল বলেন,‘‌ক্যান্সার এখন যে হারে বাড়ছে তাতে আগামী দিনে মহামারীর আকার ধারণ করতে চলেছে। কোলন, হেড অ্যান্ড নেক, জরায়ুর সঙ্গে গত কয়েক বছরে লিভার, অগ্ন্যাশয়, পাকস্থলির ক্যান্সার অনেক বেড়ে গেছে। পাশাপাশি অনেক কম বয়সে ধরা পড়ছে। এর পিছনে ধূমপান, স্ট্রেশ, অনিয়মিত জীবন যাপন, খাদ্যাভ্যাস, দূষণ অনেকাংশে দায়ী। প্রাথমিক অবস্থায় ক্যান্সার সনাক্তকরণ অত্যন্ত জরুরি।’‌

Kolkata, June 28: Ambuja Neotia, in collaboration with the Charles Correa Foundation, hosted the 8th edition of Charles Correa Memorial Lecture at the Royal Bengal Room, City Centre Salt Lake. The event, held in memory of the legendary Indian architect Charles Correa, brought together eminent personalities and members of the architectural and design community to celebrate Correa’s enduring legacy.

The evening featured a captivating keynote address by renowned Australian architect Peter Stutchbury, known globally for his contextual, environmentally sensitive, and poetic design philosophy. Reflecting on Correa’s influence, Stutchbury remarked, “It’s an immense honour to deliver the 8th Charles Correa Memorial Lecture in the very city where a part of his extraordinary vision came to life. Charles Correa was not merely an architect; he was a philosopher of space… His unwavering commitment to designing with deep respect for the environment, local culture, and human condition mirrors the very foundations of my practice.” He further added, “My deepest gratitude goes to Mr. Harshavardhan Neotia and the Ambuja Neotia Group for their remarkable vision in sustaining this crucial dialogue. Their dedication to propagating Charles Correa’s legacy through these lectures ensures that his vital principles continue to inspire the future of architecture.”

The event also marked the formal launch of the Late Christopher Benninger’s much-anticipated book, ‘Great Expectations – Notes to an Architect’, the sequel to his seminal work Letters to a Young Architect. The launch was carried out jointly by Ramprasad Akkisetti (MD, CCBA Designs), Harshavardhan Neotia, and Peter Stutchbury.

Speaking about the book, Ramprasad Akkisetti said, “In this latest work, Chris, with his characteristic wisdom and wit, delves deeper into the philosophical and practical challenges of our profession. It’s not just a book for aspiring architects, but a reflective journey for all who seek to understand the profound responsibility and immense joy of shaping our built environment.” Delivering a special address, Mr. Akkisetti also reflected on his personal and professional relationship with Correa, “For me, Charles Correa was more than an architect; he was a mentor and a guiding force whose work transcended structures to embody the soul of India.”

Speaking on the occasion, Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman, Ambuja Neotia, said, “Charles Correa was not just an architect; he was a visionary who profoundly shaped modern Indian architecture with his human-centric and eco-sensitive designs. His philosophy of integrating local context, sustainability, and social responsibility deeply resonates with our Group’s values. This lecture serves as a platform to inspire the next generation of architects and continue the dialogue on how design can enrich lives and build better communities.” The evening was seamlessly anchored by architect, author, and principal organiser of the Annual Charles Correa Memorial, Ashish Acharjee, who added narrative continuity and depth to the event. Reflecting on the keynote, he said, “Stutchbury’s body of work perfectly embodies the spirit of Charles Correa – crafting spaces that resonate with their environment, deeply attuned to natural forces and local rhythms. His designs, much like Correa’s, are intelligent, sensitive responses to place.”

কলকাতা, ২৬ জুন ২০২৫: পরীক্ষা প্রস্তুতির ক্ষেত্রে দেশের অগ্রণী সংস্থা আকাশ এডুকেশনাল সার্ভিসেস লিমিটেড (এইএসএল) আবারও তার একাডেমিক শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব প্রমাণ করেছে। শিক্ষার্থীদের আত্মবিশ্বাসী সমস্যা সমাধানকারী হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে প্রতিষ্ঠানটি যে অঙ্গীকার অবিচল, তা এই বছর আরও একবার প্রতিফলিত হয়েছে। নিট ইউজি ২০২৫-এর প্রশ্নপত্রে পরিবর্তন এবং কঠিনতর ধরন সত্ত্বেও, এইএসএল-এর ছাত্র ছাত্রীরা দেশব্যাপী অসাধারণ ফলাফল করেছে—যা প্রতিষ্ঠানটির লক্ষ্যভিত্তিক, ফলমুখী একাডেমিক মডেলের সাফল্যের স্পষ্ট প্রমাণ। নিট ইউজি ২০২৫-এ আকাশের শিক্ষার্থীরা শীর্ষ ১০-এর মধ্যে ৫টি স্থান (এ আই আর ২, ৩, ৫, ৯ এবং ১০) অর্জন করেছে। এছাড়াও শীর্ষ ৫০-এ ১৮ জন এবং শীর্ষ ১০০-তে ৩৫ জন স্থান অর্জন করে জাতীয় স্তরে সাফল্যের ধারা বজায় রেখেছে। পশ্চিমবঙ্গেও ছিল উল্লেখযোগ্য সাফল্য। রাজ্যে র‍্যাঙ্ক ১ এবং র‍্যাঙ্ক ২—দুজনই আকাশ-এর ছাত্র, এবং শীর্ষ ৫-এর মধ্যে ৪ জনই আকাশ-এর পশ্চিমবঙ্গের সেন্টার থেকে। রাজ্যের ১৮ জনেরও বেশি ছাত্রছাত্রী শীর্ষ ১০০০-এর মধ্যে স্থান পেয়েছে। অভিভাবকদের সহযোগিতা, শিক্ষক-শিক্ষিকাদের নিষ্ঠা এবং ছাত্রছাত্রীদের কঠোর পরিশ্রমের ফলে প্রায় ১৫০ জন (সুনির্দিষ্টভাবে বলতে গেলে ১৪৭ জন) ছাত্রছাত্রী শীর্ষ ১০,০০০-এ জায়গা করে নিয়েছে এবং প্রায় ৪০০ জন শীর্ষ ৩৫,০০০-এর মধ্যে স্থান পেয়ে দেশের সেরা সরকারি মেডিকেল কলেজে পড়ার সুযোগ পেয়েছে।

ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং এর ক্ষেত্রেও আকাশ-এর ধারাবাহিক সাফল্য বজায় ছিল। জেইই অ্যাডভান্সড-এ ২৯ জন ছাত্রছাত্রী শীর্ষ ১০০-তে এবং ৫১ জন শীর্ষ ৫০০-র মধ্যে র‍্যাঙ্কে পেয়েছে। শুধুমাত্র পশ্চিমবঙ্গ থেকেই ৫ জন ছাত্রছাত্রী শীর্ষ ১০০০-এ এবং ৫০ জন শীর্ষ ১০,০০০-এ নিজেদের র‍্যাঙ্ক অর্জন করেছে। এই অসাধারণ সাফল্যকে সম্মানিত করতে, এইএসএল আয়োজন করে তার বার্ষিক সম্মাননা অনুষ্ঠান ‘ব্যোম ২০২৫’, যা অনুষ্ঠিত হয় ২৬ জুন ২০২৫, বিস্ব বাংলা কনভেনশন সেন্টার, নিউ টাউন, কলকাতা-য়। এই অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন ফাউন্ডার ডিরেক্টর শ্রী সঞ্জয় খেমকা, সম্মানীয় ডিরেক্টরস শ্রীমতি অম্বিকা খেমকা, শ্রী কুমার মঙ্গলম এবং শ্রী তিলক রাজ খেমকা। এই উপলক্ষে শ্রী সঞ্জয় খেমকা বলেন: “এই সাফল্য এইএসএল পরিবারও আমাদের সবার জন্য এক গর্বের মুহূর্ত। আকাশ-এ আমরা এমন শিক্ষার্থীদের তৈরি করতে চাই যারা কঠিন সময়েও শান্ত, মনোযোগী এবং সমাধানমুখী থেকে এগিয়ে যেতে পারে। এই বছরের পরীক্ষার অনিশ্চয়তা সত্ত্বেও আমাদের ফলাফল আমাদের অ্যাকাডেমিক পদ্ধতির দৃঢ়তা, শিক্ষকদের নিষ্ঠা এবং ছাত্রছাত্রীদের সাফল্যের প্রতি আমাদের অঙ্গীকারকে প্রমাণ করে। আমরা প্রতিটি কৃতী শিক্ষার্থীকে আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা জানাই যারা আমাদের গর্বিত করেছে।”

In a powerful display of devotion and unity, the Sri Sathya Sai Prema Pravahini Yatra is making its way across India as part of the centenary celebrations of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Five exquisitely crafted Sri Sathya Sai Prema Pravahini chariots (Ratham) commenced their journey from the divine abode of Prasanthi Nilayam (Prasanthi Nilayam district, Andhra Pradesh) on the auspicious day of 25 April 2025 after Aradhana Mahotsavam.
Crafted with love and precision by master artisans from Odisha, these rathams are not just vehicles—they are moving sanctuaries, carrying the presence of the Divine into the heartlands of Bharat. Over the next 18 months, each chariot will cover over 30,000 kilometres, travelling across the five zones—North, South, East, West, and Central—spreading Bhagawan’s universal message of Love All, Serve All to millions.

At the heart of each chariot is a beautifully designed altar, a replica of the Prasanthi Sannidhi, radiating the same serenity and sanctity as the holy Mandir. Resting at the feet of this divine shrine are marble padukas, lovingly placed so that devotees may offer their reverence, experiencing the grace of Bhagawan. For the countless devotees who long to visit Prasanthi Nilayam but are unable to make the journey, these chariots have become Prasanthi itself, coming home to them.

When these divine vehicles return to Prasanthi in November 2026, they will take back not just memories of a nation moved, but the fragrance of a million prayers and the warmth of countless homes touched by Bhagavan.

The yatra reached West Bengal on June 1 and since then, the Chariot has traversed all the 23 districts to reach Kolkata on June 22nd spreading the message of love, peace, and selfless service. The first phase of the Divine journey gets completed on 25 June, thereafter Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in the form of Sri Sathya Sai Prema Pravahini, resting at State Centre of West Bengal for 15 days at Sri Sathya Sai Seva Kendra, 1, Riverside Road, Barrackpore from 26 June to 10 July 2025. During this period multifarious activities and programme such as Ati Rudra Maha Yagna for World peace, Chanting of Rudram, as also congregation of followers of differentreligions such as Muslims, Sikhs, Hindus and Christians will take place at Barrackpore so that they may celebrate the occasion according to their own religious practice.

The centenary celebrations are being organised by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations across the country, with the West Bengal chapter playing a leading role in the state. The yatra is not merely a commemorative event but a transformative movement aimed at inspiring selfless service and spiritual upliftment. A range of humanitarian initiatives are being undertaken as part of the celebrations, including free multi-specialty medical camps, blood donation drives, Narayan Seva etc.

Special attention is being given to youth empowerment, with the distribution of vocational training kits to underprivileged youngsters. Along the yatra route, cultural programs and devotional performances were held to engage local communities and spread spiritual awareness. _‘যোগ ফর এভরি জেনারেশন’ উদ্যোগে সব বয়সের মানুষের জন্য ছিল বিশেষ যোগ অনুশীলন_

কলকাতা, ২১শে জুন: আন্তর্জাতিক যোগ দিবস ২০২৫ উপলক্ষে কলকাতা প্রেস ক্লাবে আয়োজিত হল এক বিশেষ যোগ কর্মসূচি। অনুষ্ঠানটির নেতৃত্বে ছিলেন ফিটনেস বিশেষজ্ঞ ও ‘সৌমেন’স ওয়ার্কআউট’-এর প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সৌমেন দাস। ‘জাগো ইন্ডিয়া জাগো’ ফিটনেস ক্যাম্পেনের আওতায় আয়োজিত এই কর্মসূচি শুরু হয় সকাল ৭:৩০টায়।

এই বছর যোগ দিবসের থিম ছিল ‘যোগ ফর এভরি জেনারেশন’। লক্ষ্য ছিল এমন একটি আয়োজন যেখানে সব বয়স ও শারীরিক অবস্থার মানুষ যোগ অভ্যাসে অংশ নিতে পারেন। বিশেষভাবে সক্ষম শিশুদের জন্য ছিল সহজ ও আত্মবিশ্বাস বাড়ানো যোগব্যায়াম, অতিরিক্ত ওজনের শিশুদের জন্য ছিল হালকা যোগচর্চা। ডায়াবেটিস আক্রান্তদের জন্য ছিল মানসিক চাপ কমাতে সাহায্যকারী প্রাণায়াম ও যোগাসন। ৫০ থেকে ৮০ বছর বয়সী প্রবীণদের জন্য ছিল চেয়ার যোগ, যা শরীরচর্চার পাশাপাশি চলাফেরার ক্ষমতা ও মানসিক সতেজতা বাড়ায়।

সৌমেন দাস বলেন, “যোগ এমন একটা উপায় যা বয়স, শরীর বা রোগ বাধা হয়ে দাঁড়ায় না। সকলের জন্যই এটা উপকারী। এই আয়োজনের মাধ্যমে আমরা একটা বার্তা দিতে চেয়েছি — যোগ মানে শুধু শরীর বাঁকানো নয়, এটা আত্মবিশ্বাস গড়ে তোলার পথ।” প্রায় ২৬ বছর ধরে ‘সৌমেন’স ওয়ার্কআউট’ প্রাকৃতিক ও যন্ত্রমুক্ত ফিটনেস চর্চার মাধ্যমে বহু মানুষের জীবনে ইতিবাচক প্রভাব ফেলেছে।

সামার ক্যাম্প বুঝিয়ে দিল, ওরাও স্বাভাবিক

Own news: ছোটদের মধ্যে একটু ‘‌অস্বাভাবিক আচরণ’‌ দেখলেই আমরা কেমন ‘‌হাঁ ’‌ হয়ে অবাক বিস্ময়ে তাকিয়ে থাকি!‌ সেই ‘‌অস্বাভাবিক আচরণ’‌ যে আসলে অটিস্টিক শিশু–কিশোরদের ক্ষেত্রে খুবই স্বাভাবিক, তা বেশিরভাগ মানুষই জানেন না বা বুঝতে পারেন না। রাস্তাঘাটে, বিনোদন পার্কে অথবা কোনও শপিং মলে অটিস্টিক শিশুদের করুণার নজরেও দেখা হয়। কোথাও কোথাও কেউ না জেনেবুঝেই ‘‌পাগল’‌ শব্দটি জুড়ে দেয়। কেউ একবারও ভাবে না যে, ওই শিশুর বাবা, মায়ের মন কতটা ভারাক্রান্ত হতে পারে। জানা জরুরি, অটিজম স্পেকট্রাম ডিসঅর্ডারস (‌এএসডি)‌ কোনও নির্দিষ্ট রোগ নয়, স্নায়ুর বিকাশজনিত সমস্যা। সামাজিক যোগাযোগের ক্ষেত্রে একটু অসুবিধা। সেই অসুবিধা কাটিয়ে উঠতে অক্সিজেনের মতো কাজ করে সামার ক্যাম্প বা গ্রীষ্মকালীন শিবির। বিশেষজ্ঞদের মতে, সামার ক্যাম্পগুলি অটিস্টিক শিশুদের জন্য অত্যন্ত উপকারী হতে পারে। ওদের সামাজিকভাবে মেলামেশার দক্ষতা বাড়াতে, স্বাধীনভাবে কাজ করতে, ব্যক্তিগত মনোযোগ বাড়াতে, ভাগ করে কাজ করা শিখতে, সংবেদনশীল কাজ করতে এবং সর্বোপরি বন্ধুত্ব গড়ে তুলতে সাহায্য করে। শিবিরগুলিতে শিশুদের চাহিদা অনুসারে এমন একটি পরিবেশ তৈরি করা হয়, যাতে ওরা স্বয়ংসম্পূর্ণ হওয়ার সুযোগ পায়। কলকাতায় বিশেষভাবে সক্ষম শিশুদের জন্য তৈরি বিভিন্ন সেন্টার সামার ক্যাম্পের আয়োজন করে থাকে। লেকটাউনের এক ইনস্টিটিউট এরকমই এক সপ্তাহ ব্যাপী অটিস্টিক শিশুদের নিয়ে সামার ক্যাম্পের আয়োজন করে। ১৫ জন শিশু তাতে অংশ নেয়। সাতদিন ধরে বিভিন্নরকম কর্মসূচি ছিল। নাচ, যোগা, ফুচকা পার্টি, গল্প বলা, নাটক, কাগজ কেটে ছবি এঁকে প্রাণীদের মুখোশ তৈরি করা, বিনোদন পার্কে ঘোরা, রেস্তোরাঁয় খাওয়া–দাওয়া, সিনেমা দেখা, কী ছিল না সেখানে!‌ নিজেদের ইনস্টিটিউট ছাড়াও অন্য স্পেশ্যাল স্কুল থেকেও শিশুরা অংশ নেয় এই ক্যাম্পে। সঙ্গে ছিলেন অভিভাবক, প্রতিষ্ঠানের অধিকর্তা সুমিত্রা পাল বক্সি, দিপ্তি কর থেকে শুরু অন্যান্য শিক্ষক ও স্পেশ্যাল এডুকেটর।
১০ বছর ধরে স্পেশ্যাল এডুকেটরের অভিজ্ঞ শিক্ষক বুদ্ধদেব চক্রবর্তী বলেন,‘‌এই সামার ক্যাম্পের লক্ষ্য ছিল ছুটির সময়ে যাতে শিশুরা কিছু না কিছু কাজের মধ্যে দিয়ে কাটাতে পারে। যা তাদের সামাজিক বিকাশে উন্নয়ন ঘটাবে। ছোট ছোট ক্যাম্পে সকল পড়ুয়াদের একত্রিত করে বিভিন্ন কাজের মধ্যে ব্যস্ত রাখতে পারলে ওরাও এই সামাজিক বিকাশের বাধা কাটিয়ে উঠতে পারবে। আমাদের কর্মসূচিগুলি দেখে সমাজের অন্যান্য শ্রেণীর মানুষও সচেতন হতে পারলেই আমাদের উদ্দেশ্য সফল।’‌

অন্যান্য স্পেশ্যাল এডুকেটরের বক্তব্য, রোজকার জীবনে, সমাজে মেলামেশার দক্ষতা বাড়াতে, সমবয়সীদের সঙ্গে মিলেমিশে কাজ করতে, খাবার ভাগাভাগি করে খাওয়ার অভ্যেস তৈরি করতে সাহায্য করে এই ধরণের ক্যাম্প। দৈনন্দিন রুটিনের বাইরে নতুন পরিবেশের সঙ্গে পরিচয় করানো হয়। সমস্যার সমাধান খুঁজে বের করার পাশাপাশি আত্মবিশ্বাস বাড়াতেও সাহায্য করে।
দমদম থেকে শিল্পী বর্মন তাঁর ৭ বছরের মেয়ে স্নেহানিকে নিয়ে এসেছিলেন এই ক্যাম্পে। মেয়ের যখন আড়াই বছর বয়স তখন ধরা পড়ে অটিজম। প্রথমে জানার পর একটু ভেঙে পড়লেও হাল ছাড়েননি শিল্পী। লড়াইটা শুরু করে দেন। শিল্পী বলেন, ‘‌ধৈর্য্য ধরতে হবে। কথা বলায় একটু সমস্যা ছিল। বিভিন্ন রকম থেরাপির মাধ্যমে আগের তুলনায় মেয়ের কথা বলায় এখন অনেক উন্নতি ঘটেছে। পরিবারের পাশে থাকা খুব প্রয়োজন, যা আমি পেয়েছি।’‌ বাগুইহাটি জ্যাংড়ার বাসিন্দা সোনি গুপ্তার একমাত্র ছেলে হিমাংশু। বয়স ৯ বছর। ক্যাম্পে কিছুক্ষণ কাটিয়ে সেই সোনি বলেন, ‘‌এই ক্যাম্পে এসে ছেলের খুব ভাল লেগেছে। তিন বছর ধরে এই সেণ্টারে আমি যাতায়াত করছি। ছেলের এখন অনেক উন্নতি হয়েছে। সাড়ে তিন বছর বয়সে লক্ষ্য করি, সকলের সঙ্গে ওর মিশতে অসুবিধা হচ্ছে। তখনও জানতাম না অটিজম কী?‌‌ পরে জানতে পেরে পরিবারের সবরকম সাপোর্ট নিয়ে এগিয়ে চলেছি।’ বাকি অভিভাবকেরাও এগিয়ে চলেছেন। যাঁদের ঘরে, পরিবারে অটিস্টিক শিশু–কিশোর নেই, তঁারাও যাতে এই ব্যাপারটা সংবেদনশীলতার সঙ্গে বুঝতে পারেন, সেই আশা করেন ক্যাম্পে আসা বাবা–মায়েরা।

যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ডঃ ত্রিগুণা সেন অডিটোরিযামে বাংলার বিভিন্ন প্রান্ত থেকে আসা কিশোর কিশোরীরা নাটকের মাধ্যমে জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন নিয়ে তাদের চিন্তাতে অনেক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় সামনে নিয়ে আসে। প্লাস্টিক বিকল্প থেকে উষ্ণাযণ, গাছ বাঁচানো থেকে পরিবেশ উদ্বাস্তু ইত্যাদি নানান বিষয় উঠে আসে নাটক ও ছবির মাধ্যমে।

কলকাতা, ৫ই জুনঃ “প্লাস্টিকের বর্জন” থিমকে সামনে রেখে এ বছর গোটা পশ্চিমবঙ্গ জুড়ে শিশু-কিশোরদের সঙ্গে নিয়ে উদযাপিত হল বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবস। ‘চাইল্ড ইন নিড ইন্সটিটিউট’ (CINI)-এর নেতৃত্বে সুন্দারবন থেকে শুরু করে দার্জিলিং পর্যন্ত বিভিন্ন জেলায় আয়োজিত এই অনুষ্ঠানে উঠে এল পরিবেশ রক্ষায় শিশুদের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণের এক অনন্য বার্তা। সুন্দরবনের কুলতলিতে ছোট ছোট শিশুরাই অনুষ্ঠানের মূল দায়িত্বে ছিল। সকাল সাড়ে সাতটা থেকেই শুরু হয় অনুষ্ঠানের প্রস্তুতি। এখানে অংশ নেয় একশোর বেশি শিশু, মা এবং স্থানীয় বাসিন্দারা। বিশেষ আকর্ষণ ছিল গত বছর রোপণ করা গাছগুলোর “জন্মদিন” পালন — কেক কেটে! গাছকে সন্তানের মতো যত্ন করে লালন-পালনের এই ভাবনাটি শিশুদের মধ্যে গাছের প্রতি দায়িত্ববোধ ও ভালোবাসা গড়ে তোলে।

দার্জিলিং জলপাইগুড়ি,মুর্শিদাবাদ, দক্ষিণ দিনাজপুরেও বিভিন্ন অঞ্চলে চারাগাছ বিতরণ এবং পরিবেশ বিষয়ক আলোচনা সভা আয়োজন করা হয়। কলকাতায় যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ত্রিগুণা সেন অডিটোরিয়ামে আয়োজন করা হয় থিয়েটার ওয়ার্কশপ এবং চিত্র প্রদর্শনী। এখানে শিশুরা তাদের শিল্পীসত্তা দিয়ে তুলে ধরে কিভাবে প্লাস্টিক দূষণ ও জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন তাদের জীবনে প্রভাব ফেলছে। আয়লা-আম্ফান সহ সাম্প্রতিক ঘূর্ণিঝড় ও বন্যার কারণে জলবাহিত দুর্ঘটনা যেমন ডুবে মৃত্যু বেড়েছে, তার মূল কারণ হিসেবে তুলে ধরা হয় অতিরিক্ত প্লাস্টিক ব্যবহার এবং জলবায়ুর অবনতি। সিনির পক্ষ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, শিশুদের হাত ধরেই যদি সচেতনতার বীজ রোপণ করা যায়, আগামী প্রজন্ম পরিবেশ রক্ষার সৈনিক হয়ে উঠবে। এদিনের অনুষ্ঠানগুলোই তার প্রমাণ — শিশুরাই হয়ে উঠেছে পরিবেশ রক্ষার মুখ। সিনিয়র ম্যানেজার সুজয় রায় জানান যে “পরিবেশ ও মানুষের স্বাস্থ্যের মধ্যে অদৃশ্য কিন্তু গভীর সম্পর্ক রয়েছে। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের ফলে বন্যা ও প্লাবনের ঝুঁকি যেমন বাড়ছে, তেমনই বাড়ছে শিশুদের ডুবে মৃত্যুর হার। সুস্থ পরিবেশ মানেই নিরাপদ স্বাস্থ্য ও শিশুর জীবন সুরক্ষা। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার রাজ্যজুড়ে সবুজায়নের জন্য একাধিক প্রশংসনীয় ও ইতিবাচক উদ্যোগ গ্রহণ করেছেন, যার ফলে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ক্রমশ আরও সবুজ ও পরিবেশবান্ধব রাজ্যে রূপ নিচ্ছে। সরকার ও নাগরিক সমাজ একসঙ্গে কাজ করলে পরিবেশ সুরক্ষার লড়াই আরও শক্তিশালী হয়ে উঠবে। এই রকম উদ্যোগে সবুজ হোক ভবিষ্যৎ, শিশুদের হাতে গড়ে উঠুক আগামী পৃথিবী।
