National Science Day, observed on 28th February each year at IISER Kolkata, commemorates the discovery of the Raman Effect by Nobel Laureate Sir C. V. Raman in 1928.

Prof. Dirk Scherler, from the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam – GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences and Freie Universität Berlin, as the Chief Guest.
