Moreover, Kolkata hosted the 4 August 2026 launch of the 10 Crore Addiction-Free Pledge Mega Campaign at New Town. The campaign marks the beginning of a nationwide movement that will be conducted from 6 August to 20 August 2026, aiming to inspire more than 10 crore citizens across India to embrace an addiction-free, healthy, and value-based lifestyle. However, the initiative is organised under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan and Mission SPANDAN, via MoUs with Brahma Kumaris and ministries. Held in the lead-up to International Youth Day and India’s Independence Day, the campaign is dedicated to the sacred memory of Rajyogini Dadi Prakashmani Ji, the former Chief Administrative Head of the Brahma Kumaris, whose life exemplified selfless service, spiritual values, and nation-building. The Hon’ble Minister Shri Dilip Ghosh inaugurated the launch programme (Cabinet Minister-Department of Panchayats & Rural Development, Department of Agriculture Marketing, etc., Govt of West Bengal). (Higher Education Minister-Govt of West Bengal), said, ‘……………… Speaking on the occasion, Brahma Kumari Madhu Didi, sub-zone in charge of the Brahma Kumaris for Bengal, Greater Kolkata, and the Andaman region, referred to the gathering of more than 2,500 Brahma Kumars and Brahma Kumaris in the packed auditorium and said, “They are leading the way through the example of their own lives. I can confidently say this. Each one has, through regular Raja Yoga meditation, naturally adopted a pure, healthy, addiction-free lifestyle.

Brahma Kumari Asmita, coordinator of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge and Raja Yoga teacher, said, “Many individuals sincerely wish to overcome addiction but find themselves trapped by deeply ingrained habits and sanskars. Raja Yoga meditation enables them to draw spiritual power from the Supreme, making transformation easier, more natural, and sustainable. The stronger the inner self becomes, the weaker the addiction grows, ultimately leading to lasting freedom from dependency.”

The event also featured inspiring messages from distinguished dignitaries, including the minister in charge of the departments of higher education, industries, youth & sports; the minister of state for women & child development and social welfare; the minister of state for the dept of law; the minister of state for municipal affairs and urban development; the minister of state for industries, commerce and enterprises; and the minister of state for science and technology and biotechnology.

Moreover, the organisers highlighted the urgent need for collective action against substance abuse and addiction-free living for a healthy society. The campaign seeks to mobilise citizens through public awareness programmes, value-based education, youth engagement, Rajyoga meditation, healthy lifestyle promotion, and active community participation.

The Brahma Kumaris and RERF Medical Wing expressed confidence that the campaign will become a significant national movement encouraging individuals, families, educational institutions, and communities to adopt positive values and make a conscious commitment to an addiction-free India.

The organisation acknowledged the vital role of the media in spreading awareness. It invited media houses to support the campaign by amplifying its message nationwide.
