কলকাতা, ৭ জুলাই, ২০২৫: কলকাতার সায়েন্স সিটিতে ২ লক্ষ বর্গফুট এলাকা জুড়ে তিন দিনব্যাপী ৫৮তম গার্মেন্টস মেলা এবং বি২বি এক্সপো অনুষ্ঠিত হওয়ার মাধ্যমে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ গার্মেন্টস শিল্প প্রাণবন্ত হয়ে উঠেছে। ৬০ বছর ধরে শিল্পের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ হিসেবে কাজ করা ওয়েস্ট বেঙ্গল গারমেন্ট ম্যানুফ্যাকচারার্স এন্ড ডিলার্স অ্যাসোসিয়েশন (ডব্লিউবিজিএমডিএ) আয়োজিত এই অনুষ্ঠানটি উল্লেখযোগ্য ব্যবসায়িক সম্ভাবনা তৈরি করবে বলে আশা করা হচ্ছে। এই ৫৮তম পোশাক ক্রেতা ও বিক্রেতা সম্মেলন এবং বি২বি এক্সপোতে ১০০০ টিরও বেশি জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক ব্র্যান্ড উপস্থিত থাকবে, যেখানে শিশু, পুরুষ এবং মহিলাদের জন্য তৈরি পোশাকের বিস্তৃত নির্বাচন প্রদর্শিত হবে এবং পাইকারি বাজারে প্রায় ১২০০-১৫০০ কোটি টাকার বাণিজ্যিক লেনদেন হবে বলে আশা করা হচ্ছে।

এই উপলক্ষে, পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পোশাক প্রস্তুতকারক ও বিক্রেতা সমিতির সভাপতি শ্রী হরি কিষাণ রাঠি বলেন, “সরকারি উদ্যোগগুলি একাধিক পোশাক কেন্দ্র প্রতিষ্ঠায় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেছে, যার আরও সম্প্রসারণের পরিকল্পনা ইতিমধ্যেই চলছে। এই প্রচেষ্টাগুলি বাংলার টেক্সটাইল এবং পোশাক শিল্পের জন্য অসাধারণ সুযোগের দ্বার উন্মোচন করছে। আমাদের সেক্টর সফলভাবে বিশ্বব্যাপী ক্লায়েন্টদের আকর্ষণ করেছে, বিশেষ করে ইউরোপ এবং মধ্যপ্রাচ্য থেকে, এবং আমরা সারা বছর ধরে রপ্তানি টেকসই করেছি। আমাদের সাম্প্রতিক সম্মেলনের ফলাফল ব্যবসায়িক এবং বাণিজ্যিক মূল্যের দিক থেকে আমাদের প্রত্যাশাকে অনেক বেশি ছাড়িয়ে গেছে।” মিডিয়ার সাথে কথা বলতে গিয়ে, শ্রী দেবেন্দ্র বৈদ, পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পোশাক প্রস্তুতকারক ও বিক্রেতা সমিতির সচিব বলেন, “আমাদের ক্রেতা ও বিক্রেতা সম্মেলন পাঁচ দশক ধরে ব্যবসায়িকভাবে ধারাবাহিক সাফল্যের মুখ দেখেছে। এটি দেশের তৈরি পোশাকের জন্য বৃহত্তম বাণিজ্য মেলাগুলির মধ্যে একটি। অর্থনৈতিক ওঠানামা এবং শিল্পের পরিবর্তন সত্ত্বেও, আমাদের সমিতি ক্রমবর্ধমান অব্যাহত রেখেছে এবং পোশাক সেক্টরকে যথেষ্ট সহায়তা প্রদান করছে। উল্লেখযোগ্যভাবে, আমাদের সম্মেলনটি MSME সেক্টর দ্বারা স্বীকৃত হয়েছে, যা এটিকে আমাদের শিল্পে এই ধরণের প্রথম প্রতিষ্ঠানে পরিণত করেছে।”

Kolkata, 7th July, 2025: The West Bengal garment industry comes alive with the 58th Garment Fair and B2B Expo being held over three days from 7th to 9th July, 2025, at Science City, Kolkata, spread within 2 lac sqft. area. This event, organised by the West Bengal Garment Manufacturers and Dealers Association (WBGMDA), which has been a pivotal part of the industry for 60 years, is expected to create significant business prospects. More than 1000 national and international brands will be featured in this 58th Garment Buyers & Sellers Meet & B2B Expo, showcasing a wide selection of readymade garments for kids, men, and women, and it is projected to generate commercial dealings valued at around Rs. 1200-1500 crore in the wholesale market. The significance of the event for the state’s economy was underlined by the presence of the State Government and leading businessmen and prominent corporate houses who attended the event, demonstrating the significance of the Association’s endeavour in boosting the State economy. The event was inaugurated by: Sri. Sujit Bose, Minister of State for Fire, Govt. of WB, along with notable figures such as Sri. Hari Kishan Rathi, President of WBGMDA; Sri. Vijay Kariwala, Senior Vice President of WBGMDA; Sri. Pradeep Murarka, Vice President of WBGMDA; Sri. Devendra Baid, Hon. Secretary and Sri. Manish Agarwa, an executive committee member of WBGMDA and many others.
Since its establishment, this association has organized readymade garments fairs and business-to-business (B2B) events with the goals of assisting the nation in becoming a major player in the global textile supply chain and fostering the growth of a modern, thriving, and competitive apparel industry—this time the association has made an effort to include the Retail Segment to this event. The Garment Buyers and Sellers Meet, organised by WBGMDA, has become a prominent hub for the most well-known and respected businesses in the eastern region of the country. This event generates a lot of jobs and also makes a significant contribution to the state’s economy. On this occasion, Sri. Hari Kishan Rathi, President of West Bengal Garment Manufacturers & Dealers Association, stated, “Government initiatives have played a vital role in the establishment of multiple garment hubs, with plans for further expansion already underway. These efforts are opening up tremendous opportunities for Bengal’s textile and apparel industry. Our sector has successfully attracted global clients, particularly from Europe and the Middle East, and we’ve sustained exports throughout the year. The outcomes of our most recent meeting far exceeded our expectations in terms of business and commercial value.” Speaking to the media, Sri. Devendra Baid, Hon. Secretary of West Bengal Garment Manufacturers & Dealers Association, stated, “Our Buyers and Sellers Meets have seen consistent success over five decades of business. This is one of the largest trade fairs for readymade garments in the country. Despite economic fluctuations and industry shifts, our association has continued to grow and provide unwavering support to the garment sector. Notably, our meet has been recognised by the MSME sector, making it the first of its kind in our industry.”
About WBGMDA: The West Bengal Garment Manufacturers and Dealers Association is one of the leading organisations in Eastern India, representing the ready-made garment industry and its commerce. Founded in 1962, the organisation offers specialised services to promote the growth of the ready-made clothing sector. The Bharat Chamber of Commerce is in charge of its operations.
