Ruby General Hospital has officially announced a massive expansion of its surgical infrastructure, solidifying its position as a leading healthcare provider in Eastern India. The hospital has added 6 state-of-the-art modular Operating Theatres (OTs), which include 2 dedicated transplant OTs and 2 advanced robotic surgery OTs. This major expansion comes in addition to the hospital’s existing 5 super-speciality OTs, drastically increasing its capacity for complex, life-saving procedures.
Alongside the infrastructure expansion, the hospital celebrated the official inauguration of two cutting-edge robotic systems: the Orthopaedic Total Knee Replacement (TKR) Robotic Surgery system and the globally renowned Da Vinci Robotic Surgical System for general and advanced surgical procedures. The landmark facility and systems were officially inaugurated by Dr Kamal Kumar Dutta (Chairman and Managing Director), Dr Sourav Dutta (Director), and Mrs Ruby Dutta (Director).
Key Infrastructure Expansion:
6 New Modular OTs: Engineered with infection-control laminar airflow systems.
2 Dedicated Transplant OTs: Optimised for complex organ transplant procedures.
2 Robotic Surgery OTs: Specially designed to house advanced robotic arms and consoles.
5 Existing OTs: Maintained alongside new units, bringing the total capacity to 11 highly specialised surgical suites.

Advanced Robotic Systems Introduced:
Da Vinci Robotic System: Enables minimally invasive, high-precision general and advanced surgeries with faster patient recovery.
Orthopaedic TKR Robotic System: Allows sub-millimetre accuracy in total knee replacements, ensuring better implant alignment and joint longevity.

Leadership & Expert Perspectives:  

Speaking at the inauguration, CMD Dr Kamal Kumar Dutta emphasised that this expansion bridges the gap between high-end global medical technology and regional accessibility. Director Dr Sourav Dutta added that the integration of artificial intelligence and robotics into the OTs ensures maximum patient safety and significantly shortens hospital stays. Director Mrs Ruby Dutta noted that the expansion is a testament to Ruby General Hospital’s three-decade-long commitment to constant healthcare innovation and patient-centric care.

The press meet was also joined by eminent medical experts, including Dr Pratik Das, a well-known nephrologist, and Dr T. K. Saha, a famous transplant surgeon. Both Dr Das and Dr Saha emphasised the critical requirement for modern, advanced transplant facilities in the region, highlighting that Ruby General Hospital’s new infrastructure perfectly addresses this need.
Prominent robotic surgeons also shared their insights, including Dr Debarchan Ghosh (General and Robotic Surgeon) and Dr Dipanjan Bhadra (Orthopaedics and Robotic Surgeon), showcasing the hospital’s multidisciplinary robotic expertise.
