The Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata (I-NK) will inaugurate its advanced Gamma Knife Radiosurgery facility on 2 October 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Seminar Hall, 9th Floor of the Institute.
The facility will be inaugurated by Shri Samik Bhattacharya, State President, Bharatiya Janata Party, West Bengal, and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Mr Narayan Swaroop Nigam, IAS, Health Secretary, Govt. of WB, Ms Smita Pandey, IAS, S Administrator at Kolkata Municipal Corporation, in the presence of I-NK’s senior leadership, neurologists, neurosurgeons, clinical specialists, guests and members of the media.
Advancing Precision Brain Care
Gamma Knife Radiosurgery is a specialised form of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) that delivers highly focused radiation to precisely targeted areas of the brain without conventional surgical incision or opening of the skull.
The technology is used for appropriately selected patients with conditions such as brain tumours, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), trigeminal neuralgia, and other neurological conditions. Treatment suitability is determined through detailed clinical and imaging assessment by a multidisciplinary team. The introduction of Gamma Knife, I-NK, further strengthens its comprehensive neurological and neurosurgical services, bringing advanced, precision-focused treatment to patients from West Bengal and across Eastern and North-Eastern India.
