The Institute of Neurosciences Kolkata (I-NK), a unique public–private partnership initiative of the Neurosciences Foundation, Bengal, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, and the Government of West Bengal, proudly announces the 7th INKREHABCON 2026, a national conference dedicated to rehabilitation in traumatic brain injury (TBI) with an AI-driven approach, highlighting the integration of advanced artificial intelligence technologies in TBI care and recovery.

The two-day scientific conclave will be held on 28th February and 1st March 2026 at the prestigious Royal Bengal Room, CC1, Kolkata.

Advancing Neurorehabilitation: A Commitment to Excellence

Since its inception on April 15, 2009, I-NK has remained committed to excellence in neuroscience care. The Department of Neurorehabilitation, founded on the five foundational pillars—clinical excellence, academics, research, extracurricular engagement, and humanity—continues to set benchmarks in comprehensive and compassionate rehabilitation. INKREHABCON 2026 is a joint academic initiative of the Department of Neurorehabilitation, I-NK, and The Neotia University, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing education, research, and innovation in neurorehabilitation.

INKREHABCON 2026 aims to bring together distinguished clinicians, researchers, academicians, therapists, and other allied healthcare professionals to explore cutting-edge developments in the management and rehabilitation of traumatic brain injury, one of the most significant global health challenges. TBI often leaves patients and families grappling with long-term physical, cognitive, emotional, and social consequences. The conference will highlight modern rehabilitation strategies that restore independence, dignity, and quality of life through a state-of-the-art and holistic approach.

Technological Innovation & Research Leadership

The Department of Neurorehabilitation at I-NK is at the forefront of technological innovation. The Institute now houses advanced upper limb and lower limb robotic rehabilitation systems, strengthening its capacity to deliver precision-based therapy.

In collaboration with IIT Madras, Dr Suparna Gangopadhyay, HOD of the Department, has recently been granted a patent for the “Lower Limb Rehabilitation Exoskeleton Device and Gait Trainer System”. This significant achievement reflects I-NK’s continued commitment to translational research and the advancement of indigenous innovation in neurorehabilitation technology.

The department continues collaborative research with the IITs, integrating robotics, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality-based rehabilitation protocols into clinical practice.

Comprehensive Rehabilitation Framework

Our multidisciplinary model ensures evidence-based, patient-centred, and goal-orientated recovery pathways. The approach includes:

  • Advanced TBI Assessment & PMR-Based Neurorehabilitation
  • Holistic Neuro-Pain Management
  • VR & EMG Biofeedback-Assisted Neurorecovery
  • FES, VitalStim & Bodyweight-Supported Gait Rehabilitation
  • Neuropsychological Counseling & Community Reintegration
  • Home-Based Neurorehabilitation, Telerehabilitation & Continuum of Care

With a highly skilled team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists, rehabilitation psychologists, prosthetists and orthotists, wheelchair trainers, vocational counsellors, rehab assistants, rehab nurses, and medical social workers, the department ensures continuity of care from acute management to community reintegration.
