Berger Paints India Ltd. Unveils Coffee Table Book Highlighting the Upskilling of 3 Lakh Household Painters

Kolkata, September 6, 2024: Berger Paints India Ltd. proudly released a coffee table book titled “From Canvas to Community,” celebrating the success of its nationwide upskilling initiative. The book features a collection of case studies from over 3,00,000 household painters trained across India under the “iTrain on Wheels” program, in partnership with Smile Foundation. The initiative, which operates 23 mobile training units across 25 states and 3 union territories, has successfully upskilled painters, enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial potential. A significant focus of the program is empowering women in the traditionally male-dominated painting industry.

“At Berger Paints, painters deserve the best opportunities to succeed and thrive. That’s why we’re committed to investing in their growth and development, upgrading their skills, and enhancing their livelihoods. We are particularly keen to increase the participation of women in the profession, breaking down barriers and creating a more inclusive and diverse community,” said Mr. Abhijit Roy, MD & CEO of Berger Paints. “By empowering painters, especially in small towns and villages, we are investing in their future and helping them build a better life for themselves and their families. We are proud to be a part of their journey towards a brighter tomorrow.”

“This initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration and commitment to make a positive impact in the lives of ordinary household painters,” said Mr. Santanu Mishra, Co-founder & Executive Trustee, of Smile Foundation. “By equipping men and women with the skills to excel in the paint industry, we contribute to their personal growth and the broader development of society. We are thankful to Berger Paints India Ltd for its trust in Smile Foundation to implement this innovative programme.” The book is a tribute to these inspiring journeys, encapsulating the transformative impact of the iTrain on Wheels initiative.
