কলকাতা, ২৪ ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২৬: এমজাংশন সার্ভিসেস লিমিটেড-এর আয়োজনে আজ শুরু হলো ১৯তম ইন্ডিয়ান কোল মার্কেটস কনফারেন্স ২০২৬। “কোলোসিয়াম: দ্য কোল ব্যাটলগ্রাউন্ড” শীর্ষক এই দুই দিনের সম্মেলনে নীতিনির্ধারক, শিল্পক্ষেত্রের শীর্ষ ব্যক্তিত্ব, খনি সংস্থা, বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদক, পরিবহন ও সরবরাহ সংস্থা এবং আন্তর্জাতিক বাজার বিশেষজ্ঞরা ভারতের কয়লা খাতের ভবিষ্যৎ নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা করতে একত্রিত হয়েছেন। কোল ইন্ডিয়া লিমিটেড-এর তথ্য ও যোগাযোগ প্রযুক্তি বিভাগের নির্বাহী পরিচালক ভি. এস. মহারাজ বলেন, কয়লা বিনিময় ব্যবস্থার মাধ্যমে কয়লা বিক্রি ধাপে ধাপে চালু করার পক্ষে রয়েছে কোল ইন্ডিয়া। তাঁর কথায়, “আমরা সংস্কারের বিরোধী নই, বরং সংস্কারের সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ। আধুনিকভাবে গড়ে তোলাকে আমরা সমর্থন করি, তবে সেই পরিবর্তন হতে হবে পরিকল্পিত, ধাপে ধাপে এবং জাতীয় জ্বালানি নিরাপত্তার সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে।”

গ্রান্ট থর্নটন ভারত-এর অংশীদার নিলাদ্রি ভট্টাচার্য মনে করেন, কয়লা লেনদেন ব্যবস্থা তখনই বেশি সফল হবে, যখন বাজারে কয়লার সরবরাহ স্বচ্ছন্দ বা উদ্বৃত্ত থাকবে। তিনি বলেন, “উদ্বৃত্ত কয়লার পরিস্থিতি এই ব্যবস্থার জন্য ইতিবাচক হবে। এতে লেনদেনের খরচ থাকা সত্ত্বেও দাম নিয়ন্ত্রণে থাকবে এবং বাজার ধীরে ধীরে বর্তমান সরাসরি গ্রাহকমুখী কাঠামো থেকে সরে আসতে উৎসাহিত হবে।” মহারাজ ও ভট্টাচার্য উভয়েরই মত, এই লেনদেন ব্যবস্থায় বেচাকেনার মাধ্যমে কয়লার দাম তুলনামূলকভাবে নিম্ন স্তরে স্থিতিশীল হতে পারে। সম্মেলনের বর্তমান প্রেক্ষাপট তুলে ধরে এমজাংশন সার্ভিসেস লিমিটেড-এর ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক ও প্রধান নির্বাহী আধিকারিক বিনয়া বর্মা বলেন, “একদিকে দ্রুত অর্থনৈতিক বৃদ্ধি এবং বাড়তে থাকা জ্বালানি চাহিদা, অন্যদিকে জ্বালানি রূপান্তর, স্থায়িত্ব এবং কার্বন নিঃসরণ হ্রাসের প্রতিশ্রুতি—এই দুইয়ের মাঝখানেই রয়েছে কয়লা। আজও এটি অপরিহার্য, যদিও সৌরশক্তি, বায়ুশক্তি, জলবিদ্যুৎ এবং পারমাণবিক শক্তির মতো বিকল্প শক্তির সঙ্গে প্রতিনিয়ত প্রতিযোগিতার মুখে পড়ছে।”

তিনি আরও জানান, জ্বালানির উৎস কয়লা হোক বা বিকল্প শক্তি—বিদ্যুতের খরচ সাশ্রয়ী হওয়া অত্যন্ত জরুরি। মহারাষ্ট্র রাজ্য বিদ্যুৎ উৎপাদন সংস্থা (মহাজেনকো)-এর জ্বালানি বিভাগের নির্বাহী পরিচালক পঙ্কজ সাপাতে বলেন, “আমাদের বিদ্যুতের শুল্ক প্রতিযোগিতামূলক হওয়া প্রয়োজন। তথ্যভাণ্ডার কেন্দ্র চালাতে বিদ্যুৎ শুধু পরিবেশবান্ধব হলেই হবে না, সেটি সাশ্রয়ীও হতে হবে।” নবায়নযোগ্য শক্তির দ্রুত প্রসার সত্ত্বেও কয়লা এখনও নির্ভরযোগ্য, সাশ্রয়ী এবং সার্বক্ষণিক বিদ্যুতের উৎস হিসেবে ভারতের জ্বালানি নিরাপত্তার মূল ভিত্তি হয়ে রয়েছে বলে জানান আদানি পাওয়ার লিমিটেড-এর জ্বালানি ব্যবস্থাপনা বিভাগের সহ-সভাপতি রাজ বন্ধু সন্তোষ। দিনভর বিভিন্ন অধিবেশনে বিদ্যুৎ, সিমেন্ট ও স্পঞ্জ লোহা শিল্পসহ বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে কয়লার চাহিদার প্রবণতা নিয়ে আলোচনা হয়। দুই দিনের এই সম্মেলনে পরিবহন সংক্রান্ত সমস্যা, খনি প্রযুক্তি, টেঁকসই যন্ত্রপাতির ব্যবহার এবং পরিচালনাগত উদ্ভাবন নিয়েও বিস্তারিত আলোচনা হবে। সম্মেলনের সমাপ্তি হবে পারস্পরিক যোগাযোগ পর্ব এবং আইসিএমসি পুরস্কার প্রদান অনুষ্ঠানের মাধ্যমে।

Kolkata, 24th February, 2026: The 19th Indian Coal Markets Conference 2026, organised by mjunction services limited, kicked off today, under the theme “COALosseum: The Coal Battleground,” bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, miners, power producers, logistics players, and global market experts for two days of deliberations on the future of India’s coal sector.

V S Maharaj, ED-ICT, Coal India Ltd, said Coal India is in favour of the phased introduction of the sale of coal through the coal exchange. “We are reform-aligned, not reform-resistant. We support modernization, but reform must be calibrated, phased, and aligned with national energy security,” he said.

Niladri Bhattacharjee, Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat, believes the Coal Exchange would be more successful in a supply-comfortable or supply-surplus scenario. “Surplus coal situation would be good for the coal exchange. It will keep prices in check despite market transaction charges and encourage the market to shift from its current D2C character,” Bhattacharjee said.

Both Bhattacharjee and Maharaj believe prices should settle at lower levels during trading at the exchange. Giving an overview of the current state of the conference, Vinaya Varma, MD & CEO, mjunction services limited, said: “On one hand, we are witnessing rapid economic growth and rising energy demand. On the other hand, we are committed to energy transition, sustainability, and decarbonisation. In between lies coal: indispensable today yet constantly fighting hard to exist in a world with other competing forces of energy such as solar, wind, hydro & even nuclear.”

Coal or renewable, whatever the form of energy, electricity costs need to be affordable. “Our power tariffs should be competitive. To power the data centres, power should not only be green but also affordable.” Pankaj Sapate, Executive Director (Fuel), Mahagenco, commented. Despite the rapid rise of renewable energy, coal continues to be the reliable, cost-effective, and round-the-clock source of energy and remains the backbone of India’s energy security, said Raj Bandhu Santosh, VP – Fuel Management, Adani Power Ltd. Sessions through the day assessed demand trends across industries such as power, cement, and sponge iron. The 2-day event will also examine logistics issues, mining technology, sustainable equipment deployment, and operational innovation, before concluding with networking engagements and the ICMC Awards.

Kolkata, Monday, February 23, 2026: Mohun Bagan Super Giant delivered another commanding display to defeat Chennaiyin FC 2-0 in Match 13 of the Indian Super League 2025-26 season at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, in Kolkata, on Monday, February 23, 2026. The Mariners climbed to second in the table with six points, level with city rivals East Bengal FC but behind on goal difference, while Chennaiyin FC are 11th. Jamie Maclaren broke the deadlock in the fourth minute of first-half stoppage time to hand the Mariners a slender lead at the interval, before Dimitrios Petratos’ 65th-minute strike wrapped up the three points. Petratos was adjudged as the Player of the Match. Both head coaches, Sergio Lobera and Clifford Miranda, retained the same starting XI for a second consecutive match in a bid to maintain consistency. Mohun Bagan SG settled into their rhythm early, dominating possession, while Chennaiyin FC looked to threaten on the counter. The visitors fashioned the first sight of goal when Dinliana’s cross found Iñigo Martín inside the area, but the Spaniard was unable to make any connection as he stretched to meet the delivery. At the other end, Chennaiyin defended in numbers, clearing deliveries from Liston Colaco and Tekcham Abhishek Singh, while also closing down Anirudh Thapa’s left-footed effort from inside the box. Thapa had earlier come close with a fizzing volley that sailed narrowly over the crossbar.

The Mariners stepped up the intensity, pinning Chennaiyin deep inside their own half with a wave of attacks. Petratos drew a sharp low save from Chennaiyin goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz as the pressure mounted. Nawaz, however, was forced off soon after, a collision with Mohun Bagan defender Mehtab Singh rendering him injured. Samik Mitra was introduced in his stead. Mohun Bagan eventually made their pressure count in the final minute of first-half stoppage time. Anirudh Thapa robbed Irfan Yadwad of possession and, in one fluid movement, threaded a defence-splitting pass into the path of Maclaren. The striker timed his run to perfection and calmly slotted beyond the advancing goalkeeper to register his second goal of the season. The home side began the second half on the front foot, applying sustained pressure on the visitors. Maclaren had two early efforts, one blocked inside the area and another drifting marginally wide. He also met Subhasish Bose’s cross with a header but was unable to generate sufficient power to trouble the goalkeeper.

A little after the hour mark, Petratos doubled Mohun Bagan’s advantage with a superb first-time finish. Liston Colaco initiated the move by switching play with a driven diagonal pass, and Subhasish Bose delivered a first-time cross into the area from the left. Arriving unmarked at the back post, Petratos struck a sweet volley that flew past the goalkeeper, who could manage only a touch as the ball struck the net. Petratos and Maclaren both had opportunities to add a second to their tally, but a lack of composure in front of goal kept the scoreline unchanged. Substitute Jason Cummings, introduced in place of Maclaren, also tested the goalkeeper on a couple of occasions, only to be denied. Bengaluru, Sunday, February 22, 2026: Bengaluru FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Northeast United FC in Match 11 of the Indian Super League 2025-26 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. The Blues took a first-half lead through Braian Sánchez, but the Highlanders responded after the break to earn their first point of the season. Sánchez handed Bengaluru the lead in the 20th minute with a strike from distance. Lalrinzuala equalised in the 68th minute with a composed finish over Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. NorthEast United went into half-time trailing 0-1 despite matching the hosts in possession and attempts. Lalrinzuala was named the Player of the Match. All ISL 2025-26 matches are streamed live on FanCode and telecast on Sony Sports Ten 2. NorthEast United FC head coach Juan Pedro Benali made one change, bringing in Robin Yadav in defence for Redeem Tlang as they lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Bengaluru FC head coach Renedy Singh also made a defensive change, introducing Takhellambam Bungson Singh for Rahul Bheke.

The match began at a fast pace. Northeast United’s Parthib Gogoi tested Sandhu inside the opening minute, and Jithin Madathil Subran followed with a blocked effort. Andy Rodríguez then delivered a teasing corner that Míchel Zabaco headed against the woodwork. Despite NorthEast United’s early pressure, it was Bengaluru who struck first. Ashique Kuruniyan released Sánchez on the left. The Argentine cut inside and drilled a right-footed shot into the bottom corner from outside the box. NorthEast United continued to press. Jithin forced a sharp save from Sandhu, while Jairo Samperio and Macarton Nickson saw efforts blocked. Just before the interval, Andy’s free-kick delivery struck the woodwork again following a deflection, with Robin unable to apply the finishing touch. The Highlanders resumed strongly after the break. Zabaco headed wide, and Sandhu produced a fine diving save at the hour mark to deny Asheer Akhtar. Moments later, he stood tall again to keep out Jairo’s effort.

Benali introduced Lalrinzuala in the 64th minute, and the substitute made an immediate impact. In the 68th minute, he controlled a long ball from Asheer inside the area and lifted a right-footed finish over Sandhu into the top corner to level the score at 1-1. Both sides pushed for a winner. Kolkata. Allen Kolkata students have excelled in the JEE-Main 2026 January session results released by the National Testing Agency. Allen Kolkata Centre Head Debashish Sanyal stated that Allen Kolkata classroom student Neelankan Mondal scored in the 99.9377228th percentile, and Tanvi Jhunjhunwala scored in the 99.90th percentile. Tanvi has been an Allen Kolkata classroom student for the past two years. Similarly, 36 Allen Kolkata students scored in the 99th percentile or higher, while 85 scored in the 95th percentile or higher. Allen Career Institute CEO Nitin Kukreja stated that 12 students across the country were declared overall 100th-percentile scorers, of whom 8 were from Allen. Furthermore, 18 state toppers were from Allen Career Institute. Kabir Chhillar, a classroom student at Allen Kota, scored 300 out of 300. Arnav Gautam, Shubham Kumar, Bhavesh Patra, Anay Jain, Nimay Purohit, and Chiranjib Kar from the classroom course also scored in the 100th percentile. Shreyas Mishra, a student of the Allen Online Recorded and Test Series course, also scored in the 100th percentile. The 18 state toppers were Allen students, including students from Rajasthan, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Odisha, Delhi-NCT, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Puducherry, Sikkim, Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, and Mizoram. Jamshedpur, Saturday, February 21, 2026: Jamshedpur FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Punjab FC in the Indian Super League 2025-26 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex Stadium in Jamshedpur on Saturday, February 21, 2026. The Red Miners capitalised on a second-half error to snatch three points against The Shers. The result provisionally moved them to second place with six points, with East Bengal FC sitting on top based on a higher goal difference. After a goalless first half, Vincy Barretto struck in the 78th minute to decide the contest. Goalkeeper Albino Gomes produced key saves to preserve a second clean sheet for Jamshedpur. Barretto was named Player of the Match. Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle made one change from the side that defeated Mohammedan Sporting, bringing in Nikola Stojanović for Rei Tachikawa in midfield. Punjab FC head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis started with Arshdeep Singh in goal, while Muhammad Suhail and Bikash Singh supported Nigerian forward Nsungusi Junior in attack. Punjab FC threatened early. Muhammad Suhail saw his effort blocked, and Bikash found the net in the 18th minute, only to be flagged offside. Punjab FC pushed forward late on. Manglenthang Kipgen fired wide, and Osuji headed over in stoppage time. However, Jamshedpur FC held their nerves to secure another narrow victory at home.

The Red and Gold Brigade overturned an early deficit to secure their second consecutive win and move to the top of the table with six points. SC Delhi took the early lead against the run of play in the fourth minute, but Edmund Lalrindika equalized three minutes later. Youssef Ezzejjari converted a 12th-minute penalty to put the Red and Golds ahead before adding his second in the 40th minute. Miguel Figueira capped his performance with a stoppage-time goal. The victory provisionally lifted FC Goa to the top of the table with four points from two matches, while Mohammedan are yet to score their first after their first two games. Pol Moreno opened the scoring in the 4th minute, and their advantage was doubled in the 32nd through a Dejan Dražić penalty as the Gaurs went into halftime with a 2-0 lead. Pol Moreno was adjudged the Player of the Match. FC Goa struck early, as Dražić’s out-swinging corner found Moreno unmarked inside the area. The defender powered a header past Subhajit Bhattacharjee, leaving the Mohammedan goalkeeper with no chance.

Goa nearly doubled their advantage moments later with another sweeping move. Brison Fernandes, left completely unmarked inside the area, met Boris Singh’s cross with a diving header that beat the goalkeeper but crashed back into play off the upright. The visitors dictated the tempo through their dominance in midfield, controlling possession, but Mohammedan remained a threat on the break, using swift counterattacks to unsettle the Goa backline. The Gaurs scored their second just before the water break when Udanta Singh was fouled inside the penalty box by goalkeeper Bhattacharjee. Dražić stepped up and calmly dispatched the resulting penalty, sending the Mohammedan custodian the wrong way. Mohammedan head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo made three changes at the restart, introducing Md. Fardin Ali Molla, Makan Winkle Chothe, and Lalngaihsaka in a bid to shift the momentum. The Department of Pulmonology & Respiratory Medicine at Ruby General Hospital has been performing Emergency Advanced Interventional Pulmonology procedures for quite some time. Advanced Interventional Pulmonology is rapidly evolving, focusing on minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for complex airway, lung, and pleural diseases, offering alternatives to traditional surgery, usually as outpatient care. In the last month, a couple of unique and life-saving interventional procedures have been done by the dedicated Interventional Pulmonology team of Ruby General Hospital, comprising Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty, Dr. Deboprasad Das, and Dr. Riksoam Chatterjee. These procedures are extremely rare in Eastern India and have turned thelife-threateningg situations into instant relief for the patients without any cut. We would like to discuss these couple of unique interventional procedures which have helped in excellent patient outcomes. The first case is about a62-year-oldd lady from Jharkhand who had initially been presented in OPD with complaints of progressive respiratory distress, dry cough with streaky hemoptysis, andleft-sidedd severe chest pain for the last three months and then rushed for admission through Emergency as she was unable to even breathe while waiting in the OPD. After a thorough clinico-radiological evaluation, videobronchoscopy was performed, which revealed a bulky tumor growth fully obstructing the left main bronchus,s causing complete collapse of the left lung. After discussion with the family members and with written and informed consent, the lady had been posted for rigid bronchoscopy under general anaesthesia. The tumour was completely removed by the expert team of trained Pulmonologists, very carefully, restoring the airway. Post-procedure, the left main bronchus reopened completely, and the left lung expanded fully, giving instant relief to the patient. This would not have happened if the lung remained collapsed for a longer period. Rigid Bronchoscopy helped make this procedure possible. Rigid bronchoscopy is a minimally invasive, operative procedure to visualize and treat central airway obstructions, such as tumours, foreign bodies, or strictures. This is primarily used for therapeutic interventions, including removing foreign bodies, debulking tumours, managing life-threatening hemoptysis, and placing airway stents. The second case is about a 69-year-old senior citizen from Midnapore who presented with complaints of shortness of breath and chest discomfort with a prior history of COPD. Being a heavy smoker, low dose CT thorax was done, which revealed a spiculated nodule in the right upper lobe and a pendunculated intrabronchial growth in the left upper lobe. Subsequent FDG Digital PET-CT scan showed significant SUV uptake, raising a strong suspicion of malignancy. Bronchoscopic evaluation by the Interventional Pulmonology team revealed that the anterior segment of the left upper lobe bronchus was completely occluded by a sessile pedunculated endobronchial tumor. Using advanced interventional techniques, the entire tumor was successfully removed en bloc using a bronchoscopic snare with electrocautery. Adequate hemostasis was secured, resulting in complete recanalisation of the airway. Radial EBUS (catheter) guided biopsy was taken from the right upper lobe lung nodule. The patient tolerated the procedure well, remained stable post-procedure, and is currently doing well with significant symptomatic improvement. Again EBUS instrument made this procedure possible. Thanks to the technological advancements. Ruby General Hospital has a 24-hour respiratory management team with rround-the-clockavailability of Interventional Pulmonologists who are specially trained to perform a wide range of procedures, turning life-threatening situations into instant relief for the patients. The Young Tigresses will take on Hammarby IF’s senior teams on February 19, Täby FK on February 22, Enskede IK Dam on February 25, and Karlbergs BK on February 28 as part of their preparations for April’s AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup in Thailand. The Kochi–Muziris Biennale has evolved into one of India’s most compelling cultural landmarks, transforming Kochi into a vibrant global destination for art-led travel. Set within the historic quarters of Fort Kochi and its heritage precincts, the Biennale seamlessly blends contemporary art with living history, offering visitors an immersive tourism experience rooted in culture, creativity, and place. Running until March 31, South Asia’s largest contemporary art event draws artists and travelers from across the world, activating heritage venues across the city. The Biennale stands as a powerful example of culture-driven tourism—revitalising historic spaces, energising local economies, and positioning Kochi as a city where art becomes the gateway to discovery. Through the Biennale, Kerala invites travellers to explore beyond the familiar, experiencing the destination through the transformative lens of art and culture. “As an experiential tourism destination, Kerala has witnessed a big surge in arrivals in the post-Covid years. Apart from its core assets, new products have also received a good response from both domestic and foreign tourists. The ensuing inbound season is expected to keep up this trend,” Tourism Minister Shri P A Mohamed Riyas said.

Seeking to whip up new resonance with tourists for the fast-approaching summer holiday season, Kerala Tourism will launch an all-India campaign and organize a string of roadshows in prominent cities of the country, and also participate in leading trade fairs during January-March. Started with a Partnership Meet in Chennai, followed by Bengaluru in January, and Hyderabad earlier this week, Kerala Tourism will hold B2B meets in Kolkata, Lucknow, and Indore as well during February to introduce its new products and experiential travel to a wider audience and increase domestic tourist footfalls. Another annual cultural event of Kerala that attracts travellers during the season is the ‘Nishagandhi Dance Festival’, which will be held in February in the capital city, as a stellar cultural event featuring classical dances like Odissi, Kathakali, and Bharatnatyam. Kerala will highlight new destinations, especially those of North Kerala like Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Bekal, improved infrastructure for lesser-known spots, and activities beyond typical backwaters/beaches, targeting urban families with themes of adventure (surfing, cycling, paragliding, mountain biking), wellness (Ayurveda), luxury, and culture (destination weddings, MICE) to attract domestic travellers for the season.

Ramping up heritage tourism, the state earlier this month rolled out 33 heritage trails stretching across the state from up north Kasaragod to Kollam in the south as part of its Muziris Heritage Project. Besides emphasizing improved facilities in emerging areas, Kerala will be projected as a safe destination. An upswing in international bookings is also expected in the upcoming holiday season. Kerala’s credentials as a major tourist destination got a major boost recently, with the state featuring in Rough Guides’ 26 travel destinations in the world in 2026. The state also won the Travel + Leisure India’s Best Wellness Destination Award for 2025, in a testament to its reputation for Ayurvedic traditions and holistic healing, cementing its position as a premier wellness tourism spot globally.

Upcoming roadshows also coincide with the all-India Lenscape Kerala photo exhibition, to be opened by Kerala Tourism in New Delhi on January 20. Conceived as a travelling visual narrative of Kerala, the exhibition showcases 100 curated photographs by 10 leading Indian travel photographers. Following its launch, the exhibition will tour Vadodara (January 27–29), Ahmedabad (February 3–5), Mumbai (February 12–14), Pune (February 18–20), Bengaluru (February 27–March 1), Chennai (March 4–7), Hyderabad (March 12–14), Kolkata (March 22–24), before concluding in Surat from March 29 to 31. Kerala is internationally acclaimed for providing a variety of experiences for travel enthusiasts, like houseboats, caravan stays, plantation visits, jungle resorts, homestays, Ayurveda-based wellness solutions, adventure activities, and countryside walks, including trekking to verdant hills. Alongside the new projects, the state’s core assets like beaches, hill stations, houseboats, and the backwater segment will heighten the totality of the visitors’ experience.

Kolkata: The Bengal Tuberculosis Association (BTA) officially launched “From Seals to Survival: Echoes of the Unspoken Crusade Against TB in India” by Dr. Bhaskar Mitra at the Kolkata Press Club, offering a rare and compelling perspective on India’s long and evolving fight against tuberculosis. The book presents India’s TB awareness journey through medical philately, documenting the government-issued postal seals and stamps released annually on October 2 to promote tuberculosis awareness. Spanning an extraordinary timeline from 1940 to 2025, the publication curates an extensive collection of TB seals that once served as powerful public health tools, carrying messages of prevention, responsibility, and hope to millions across the country. Authored by Dr Bhaskar Mitra, consultant pathologist and noted medical philatelist, the book goes beyond archival documentation. It explores the stories behind the designs—including the artists, creative concepts, annual themes, and national campaigns that reflected India’s public health priorities over different decades. Several renowned artists contributed to these designs, making the seals both medical and cultural artifacts. The publication also captures India’s historic struggle with tuberculosis, a disease that once posed a major public health challenge, and traces the nation’s progress toward improved control and near-safe-zone status today. Through visuals and narratives, the book highlights the evolution, history, and legacy of India’s TB eradication efforts. Dr. Ranjan Das, Chairman, West Bengal Tuberculosis Association, said, “This book is not just a collection of postal seals but a powerful reminder of India’s decades-long commitment to combating tuberculosis.” It beautifully documents how awareness, art, and public health came together to inspire communities and save lives. Such initiatives help preserve our medical heritage while motivating future generations to continue the fight against TB.” Founded in 1929, the Bengal Tuberculosis Association has played a pioneering role in TB diagnosis and care, particularly for underserved communities. The book launch underscored BTA’s enduring commitment to public health and positioned the publication as a significant contribution to India’s medical, social, and public health history, making it a story of national relevance and enduring impact.
