East Bengal eye top-half push; Odisha FC seek a revival.

Goa, Monday, April 27, 2026: East Bengal FC will look to strengthen their push towards the top half of the table when they host Odisha FC in their Indian Super League 2025-26 match at the PJN Stadium, Goa, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:30 IST and will be streamed live on FanCode and telecast on the Sony Sports Network. The Red and Gold Brigade showed commendable resilience in their previous outing, playing out a 3-3 draw against Bengaluru FC despite being reduced to 10 men early on. A victory here would lift East Bengal to fifth with 18 points, level with Jamshedpur FC, who would remain ahead on the head-to-head record. Odisha, meanwhile, comes into the contest on the back of a 1-2 defeat to Kerala Blasters FC. The Juggernauts currently sit on six points, and a win would see them climb to 12th, overtaking NorthEast United FC. Following that late setback, Odisha will look to respond quickly, with head coach TG Purushothaman acknowledging the disappointment while emphasising the positives: “It was a disappointing result, especially conceding a sloppy goal at the end. However, we dominated the match and created many chances. The main issue was finishing. There is no need for major changes. We will not overhaul everything. Only small adjustments are required. The focus is on improving and climbing up the table. We have internal targets, and we believe we can achieve them.”

For Odisha, cohesion across all departments will be essential. Captain Carlos Delgado will need to marshal the defensive line against an East Bengal attack that has been the most prolific in the league so far, with 22 goals. Rahim Ali addressed the forward line’s recent struggles, offering a composed perspective on their finishing issues: “In football, sometimes you score, and sometimes you miss. It is part of the game. We are working hard in training to improve. I try to motivate my teammates and help them perform better when they get opportunities. Every match is difficult, so we must support each other. I will continue to work harder to help the team get results.” In attack, Isak Vanlalruatfela and Rahim will be key to stretching a disciplined East Bengal defence that has conceded just eight goals this season, the joint third-best record alongside Punjab FC. With K Lalrinfela expected to operate in the No. 10 role, Odisha must ensure a consistent supply line to lone striker VP Suhair if they are to trouble the hosts.

Historically, this fixture has been dominated by Odisha. In 10 meetings in the Indian Super League, Odisha have won eight, while East Bengal have managed just one victory, with one match ending in a draw. They have also outscored East Bengal 28 to 19 across these encounters. The most recent meeting came on December 12, 2024, when Odisha secured a 2-1 victory, courtesy goals from Jerry Mawhmingthanga and Hugo Boumous, while Lalchungnunga netted East Bengal’s only goal. East Bengal’s primary strength lies in their attacking unit, with Youssef Ezzejjari and Edmund Lalrindika forming a dangerous forward pairing. With Miguel suspended for two matches, Nandhakumar Sekar is expected to slot in on the right flank. Head coach Óscar Bruzón underlined both tactical clarity and flexibility ahead of the fixture. “We are one of the teams that try to dominate with the ball. We are flexible and not fixed to one formation. We adapt depending on the opponent and the game situation,” he said.

Ezzejjari’s aerial presence remains central to their attacking framework, while the PV Vishnu-Bipin Singh combination is likely to be retained on the flanks. Souvik Chakraborty should provide balance in midfield, with Crespo expected to operate with greater freedom and frequently advance as an auxiliary attacker. On the team news front, Bruzón confirmed that Naorem Mahesh Singh will be unavailable due to injury, while Mohammed Rashid and Anwar Ali are carrying minor injury concerns. Attacker Anton Søjberg, who delivered a crucial equaliser in the previous match, also stressed the importance of maintaining focus despite Odisha’s position in the table. “Well, I think we take every game seriously. Obviously, Odisha is struggling at the moment. But they are also looking to get back, whether through a strong performance or after a hard defeat at the end of the game,” he said. With contrasting objectives at stake, the contest could ultimately be decided by which side shows greater efficiency in both boxes.

Fazila Ikwaput’s hat-trick powers East Bengal to commanding win against Sribhumi

East Bengal FC – 3 (Fazila Ikwaput 37’, 46’, 60’)

Sreebhumi Sports Club – 1 (Rimpa Haldar 80’)

Kolkata, Monday, April 27, 2026: Defending champion East Bengal FC extended its lead at the top with a 3-1 win against Sribhumi FC in their Indian Women’s League 2025-26 match at the East Bengal Ground on Monday, April 27. Fazila Ikwaput’s hat-trick secured three points, taking the Moshal Girls to 21 points from seven matches. The Ugandan striker took her IWL goals tally to 54, overtaking Ngangom Bala Devi, with 51 goals, to become the competition’s second-highest scorer behind Sabitra Bhandari (60). Rimpa Haldar scored Sribhumi’s lone goal. East Bengal dominated from the outset with an aggressive press and direct attacking play. Ikwaput found the net early on but was denied by the offside flag. The Ugandan remained a constant threat. In the sixth minute, she latched onto Ashalata Devi’s lofted through ball and attempted a chip over Moirangthem Monalisha Devi but missed the target. Despite sustained pressure, Sribhumi showed composure at times, playing out from the back and building patient moves.

Karishma Purushottam Shirvoikar tested Elangbam Panthoi Chanu in the 11th minute, though without conviction. Rimpa then cut in from the right five minutes later but struck the side-netting, underlining Sribhumi’s sporadic threat. East Bengal continued to probe, with Ikwaput firing over from distance in the 28th minute. Moments later, Ashalata’s cutback nearly found Soumya Guguloth, only for Monalisha to intercept. Ikwaput then beat her marker inside the box but failed to hit the target. The breakthrough came in the 37th minute. A long ball towards Ikwaput was misjudged by Toijam Thoibisana Chanu, whose attempted header fell kindly for the forward. Ikwaput calmly slotted past the advancing Monalisha. She nearly doubled the lead before the break, but Thoibisana recovered to block, while Kayenpaibam Anju Chanu struck the crossbar at the other end, leaving East Bengal with a slender lead at half-time.

East Bengal struck again within a minute of the restart. Ikwaput surged forward, cut inside, and curled a precise effort into the bottom-right corner to make it 2-0. The hosts tightened their grip thereafter, pinning Sribhumi deep. The visitors struggled to retain possession, though Rimpa’s cross in the 55th minute nearly found Dangmei Grace before Panthoi intervened. Three minutes later, Dangmei fired over after a loose clearance from Abena Anoma. Ikwaput completed her hat-trick on the hour mark, turning sharply under pressure before lashing the ball past Monalisha for 3-0. Sribhumi responded with a brief spell of pressure but failed to create clear chances.

At the other end, Ikwaput nearly added a fourth in the 67th minute after combining with Sulanjana Raul, but Monalisha made a sharp save. East Bengal’s defence remained largely untroubled as Sribhumi’s attacking combinations failed to click. The visitors pulled one back in the 80th minute following a midfield error. Nameirakpam Arina Devi drove forward and set up Rimpa, who finished clinically past Panthoi. It was only the second goal conceded by East Bengal in the league this season. The late consolation did little to change the outcome, as East Bengal sealed a convincing win, driven by Ikwaput’s clinical finishing and sustained dominance.

Dempo SC hold firm to deny Shillong Lajong in goalless stalemate

Shillong Lajong FC – 0 Dempo SC – 0

Shillong, Sunday, April 26, 2026: Shillong Lajong FC were held to a goalless draw by a resolute Dempo SC in their Star Cement Indian Football League 2025-26 Championship Phase fixture at the SSA Stadium in Shillong on Sunday, April 26, 2026. The result keeps Shillong second in the table with 18 points, seven behind leaders Diamond Harbour FC, while Dempo remain sixth with 10 points. Shillong named an unchanged starting XI from their last match, while Dempo made two changes, with Sebastián Gutiérrez Atehortua and Vieri Colaco replacing Ariston Costa and Richmond Kwasi Owusu. Shillong imposed themselves from the outset, applying immediate pressure on Dempo straight from kick-off. Inside the opening minute, a long ball into the box created an early opening as Phrangki Buam rose to meet it, but the defence recovered in time to clear.

The hosts sustained a high tempo in the early exchanges, unsettling Dempo’s backline before the visitors slowed the pace and attempted to play out from the back. Both sides showed a clear inclination to build through the flanks, with Buam and Ephraim Lalremtluanga stretching play for Shillong, while Saiesh Bagkar and Kapil Hoble looked to supply Gutiérrez and Marcus Leric Jr Joseph centrally. Shillong’s sharpness in possession, aided by strong home support, translated into early control. In the eighth minute, Lamlallian found space in the final third and struck at goal, but Aubin Kouakou positioned himself well to block. Dempo’s attempts to construct from deep led to repeated turnovers under Shillong’s high press. Everbrightson Sana Mylliempdah tested Ashish Sibi with a skidding effort from a distance that the goalkeeper handled securely.

Shillong also limited Nestor Dias’ influence in midfield, restricting his ability to dictate play and connect with the forwards. Although Hoble looked to release Joseph with early passes from wide areas, Shillong’s compact defensive shape ensured those moves did not develop. The clearest opening of the first half came in the 34th minute when Kouakou lost possession, allowing Sana to break through on goal. José Luis Moreno Peña recovered with a well-timed sliding challenge to prevent the shot. The hosts continued to threaten, with Damaitphang Lyngdoh delivering a low cross across the six-yard area in the 38th minute that evaded any finishing touch. Shillong came closest in the 43rd minute, when Buam’s shot from a tight angle was parried by Sibi before Lyngdoh struck the woodwork from distance. Shillong resumed on the front foot after the interval. Lyngdoh attempted an ambitious strike from distance in the 47th minute, but the effort drifted off target.

Dempo produced a moment of quality in the 58th minute as Gutiérrez connected cleanly with a first-time volley from a tight angle, forcing Ranit Sarkar into a sharp save. Despite limited attacking output, Dempo’s central defensive pairing of Kouakou and Moreno remained assured, with the latter delivering another composed performance. The visitors came close once again in the 67th minute from a set-piece. A delivery into the box was met by Moreno, who cushioned the ball into Kouakou’s path. The defender’s close-range volley was struck firmly but straight at Sarkar, who reacted well. The rebound fell to Joseph, but he fired over the crossbar. Shillong continued to push for a breakthrough, and in the 81st minute, Buam delivered a precise low ball into the box. Sana looked set to shoot, only for Kouakou to intervene and clear it. The hosts came agonisingly close to a late winner in stoppage time. In the second minute of additional time, substitute Abelson Jachi forced a spill from Sibi, and Kenstar Kharshong lifted the rebound over the goalkeeper, only to see his effort strike the crossbar again. Shillong’s inability to convert dominance into goals proved decisive. Despite registering 20 shots, including five on target, they were unable to breach a disciplined Dempo defence.

Mohammedan Sporting deny SC Delhi full points in 2-2 draw

Sporting Club Delhi – 2 (Matija Babovic 17’ pen, 52’)               Mohammedan SC – 2 (T. Adison Singh 40’, Hira Mondal 65’)

New Delhi, Sunday, April 26, 2026: Mohammedan Sporting Club came from behind twice and secured a 2-2 draw against Sporting Club Delhi in Indian Super League 2025-26 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday, April 26, 2026. The result means Mohammedan pick up their third consecutive point, taking their tally to three from ten matches. However, they remain at the bottom of the table. SC Delhi, meanwhile, moves to 10th place with nine points from as many matches. Sporting Club Delhi began on the front foot, dominating possession and pushing Mohammedan deep into their own half in the early exchanges. Their pressure paid off in the 17th minute when Mohammed Aimen drew a foul inside the penalty area by Mohammedan keeper Padam Chhetri, and Matija Babovic stepped up to calmly convert from the spot and give the hosts the lead.

The home side continued to control proceedings, with Aimen and Augustine Lalrochana orchestrating attacks, while Mohammedan struggled to build momentum going forward. However, the visitors gradually grew into the contest after the drinks break, showing greater composure in possession. Their improvement was rewarded in the 40th minute with a moment of sharp awareness from forward Thokchom Adison Singh. A long-lofted ball from Makan Chothe caught the defence off guard, and as goalkeeper Nora Fernandes rushed out to clear, Adison calmly took the ball past him before finishing emphatically into an open net to restore parity. The second half saw a more balanced contest, with Mohammedan showing greater intent in attack. However, it was Sporting Delhi who regained the lead in the 52nd minute. A shot from Lalrochana was parried by Padam Chettri, but it was inside the box and took a rebound off SC Delhi’s Joseph Sunny to fall kindly for Babovic, who reacted quickest to slot home his second goal of the evening.

Undeterred, Mohammedan continued to press and was rewarded again in the 65th minute. From a short corner, a cross was delivered by Lalngaihsaka from the right, and Hira Mondal found himself unmarked at the far post and powered a header into the top corner to level the scores once more. The final quarter of the match saw both sides push for a winner, with chances at either end. Mohammedan came close through Lalthankima, whose effort was brilliantly saved by Fernandes, while Sporting Delhi threatened via Sourav K and Rafael Ribeiro, both denied by Padam Chettri. Despite sustained attacking intent from both teams in the closing stages, neither side could find the decisive goal, as defensive resilience and goalkeeping at both ends ensured the points were shared.

Jamshedpur FC return to winning ways with dominant victory against Chennaiyin

Jamshedpur FC 4 (Sanan Mohammed 7’, 58′; Raphaël Messi Bouli 27′; Nikola Stojanović 78’)                            Chennaiyin FC 1 (S Prakadeswaran 68’)

Jamshedpur, Saturday, April 25, 2026: Jamshedpur FC produced a commanding performance to defeat Chennaiyin FC 4-1 in Indian Super League 2025-26 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Saturday, April 25, 2026. A brace by Sanan Mohammed, along with goals from Raphaël Messi-Bouli and Nikola Stojanović, secured three points for the hosts after five matches. They climb to fourth in the standings with 18 points, while Chennaiyin FC remains 10th with nine points. The Men of Steel set the tone early, combining attacking intent with high pressing, while Chennaiyin FC struggled to cope with the intensity despite creating a few chances of their own. Jamshedpur’s clinical finishing ultimately proved the difference in a contest where they capitalised on key moments.

The hosts made a bright start, with Stojanović and Madih Talal testing the Chennaiyin defence inside the opening minute. Chennaiyin nearly responded immediately, but Irfan Yadwad’s close-range header was brilliantly saved by Jamshedpur keeper Albino Gomes. Jamshedpur took the lead in the seventh minute through Sanan. A well-worked move down the right saw Rosenberg Gabriel deliver a low cross into the box. While Messi Bouli failed to connect, the ball fell to Sanan’s foot, who fired it home from close range to give the hosts an early advantage. The momentum stayed with Jamshedpur, who continued to press forward and create chances through Talal and Stojanović, both of whom came close from distance. Chennaiyin, however, remained a threat on the break and were unlucky not to equalise when Yadwad struck the post following a neat pass from Mandar Dessai.

Jamshedpur doubled their lead in the 27th minute. Nikhil Barla floated in an inviting cross from the left, and Messi Bouli rose highest to head the ball into the top corner, making it 2-0. The hosts continued to dominate proceedings, creating multiple opportunities before the break, but were unable to extend their lead further. Chennaiyin attempted to respond after the restart and saw more of the ball in the early stages of the second half, but struggled to break down a disciplined Jamshedpur defence, with Gomes producing another sharp save to deny Daniel Chima. Jamshedpur struck again in the 58th minute to effectively seal the contest. Following a quick transition from a goal kick, Sanan found space behind the Chennaiyin defence, rounded the goalkeeper, and calmly slotted home his second of the night to make it 3-0.

Chennaiyin pulled one back in the 68th minute through Prakadeswaran S, who cut inside from the right and curled a fine effort into the top corner, offering the visitors a glimmer of hope. However, Jamshedpur restored their three-goal cushion ten minutes later. A well-worked move involving Rosenberg Gabriel and Rei Tachikawa saw the ball worked across to Stojanović, who finished clinically from close range to make it 4-1. Both sides continued to push forward in the closing stages, but neither could add to the scoreline as Jamshedpur comfortably saw out the match.

Shillong Lajong FC eye strong start in Championship phase as Dempo SC face uphill task

Shillong, Saturday, April 25, 2026: Shillong Lajong FC will host Dempo SC in a championship-phase fixture of the Star Cement Indian Football League 2025–26 at the SSA Stadium in Shillong on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Kick-off is scheduled at 18:30 IST. The match will be broadcast live on DD Sports and Sony Sports Network and streamed on Waves and Sony LIV. With the league stage concluded, the Championship phase brings together the top six teams in a decisive round-robin format. Each side will play five matches, with the team finishing with the highest points tally at the end of the phase crowned champions. In head-to-head encounters in the Indian Football League (formerly the I-League), Shillong Lajong and Dempo SC have faced each other 13 times. Dempo hold the upper hand with seven victories, while Shillong have won four matches, with two encounters ending in draws. In terms of goals scored, Dempo have netted 24 times compared to Shillong’s 13.

The most recent meeting between the two sides came on April 7, when Dempo registered a comprehensive 3-0 victory. Marcus Joseph, Kapil Hoble, and Richmond Kwasi Owusu were on the scoresheet in that contest. Shillong Lajong enter the decisive phase, placed third in the standings with 17 points, one behind second-placed Sreenidi Deccan FC and five adrift of leaders Diamond Harbour FC. With a maximum attainable tally of 32 points, the Reds are likely to require at least four wins from their remaining fixtures to sustain a credible title challenge, leaving them with little margin for error. Consequently, securing all three points in the opener assumes paramount importance.

Shillong Lajong head coach Birendra Thapa reflected on the lessons from their previous meeting against Dempo and emphasised the improvements made since then. “In the first 30 minutes, we were very poor defensively; everyone was poor. Two or three crucial mistakes cost us the game. It was a good lesson for us—our second defeat in an away match—and we bounced back. We learned a lot and worked on the two or three things we did poorly. We are doing well now.”

Dempo SC, meanwhile, begin the phase at the bottom of the table in sixth place with nine points. While mathematically still in contention, their pathway to the title remains extremely narrow. The Goa-based side can finish with a maximum of 24 points, meaning that a victory for Diamond Harbour FC against Chanmari on Saturday would officially eliminate Dempo from the title race even before they take the field. Dempo SC head coach Samir Naik acknowledged the challenges of facing Shillong away from home while expressing confidence in his side’s preparation. “It’s always challenging when you travel to the Northeast States. The altitude plays a part, and the ground also—we train on natural grass, so shifting to artificial turf is difficult. The ball doesn’t roll the way you want. But I feel we have all the qualities, and we have prepared well. We just need to focus on one game at a time.”

Shillong will take confidence from both circumstance and form, opening their campaign on home soil, an undeniable psychological advantage. Their 6-1 victory over Aizawl FC in the final league-stage fixture further bolsters their momentum. Treimiki Lamurong netted a brace in that contest, while Phrangki Buam, Everbrightson Sana Mylliempdah, Lamlallian, and Gladdy Nelcen Kharbuli also found the scoresheet. Shillong’s campaign has been built on strong structural balance, scoring 16 goals in nine league-stage matches—the second-highest tally—while conceding just nine, the second-best defensive record behind Sreenidi Deccan.

In contrast, Dempo has struggled for consistency, particularly in defence, conceding 14 goals—an aspect that could play into Shillong’s hands. Much of the attacking spotlight for the hosts will fall on centre-forward Sana, who has emerged as a potent presence in the final third with four goals to his name. Beyond his finishing ability, Sana’s effectiveness lies in his hold-up play and ability to draw defenders, creating space for teammates. With two assists to his name, his dual-threat capability enhances Shillong’s attacking dynamics. Supported by Buam and Nelcen operating in advanced roles behind him, the Meghalaya side possesses a well-rounded and formidable offensive unit.

Shillong Lajong midfielder Kitboklang Khyriem highlighted the strong team cohesion within the squad at this crucial stage of the season. “Everyone in training is pushing each other. We are here as a family. The bonding in the team is very strong, and we are looking forward to giving our best on the field.” For Dempo, the possibility of elimination prior to kick-off does not diminish their competitive intent. While the title may be slipping out of reach, the Golden Eagles remain capable of influencing the outcome of the championship phase, particularly against higher-ranked opponents. They will, however, need to respond after a 2-1 defeat to Rajasthan United FC in their final league-stage outing, where a second-half comeback overturned an early advantage provided by Joseph.

Statistically, Dempo have registered identical returns in attack and defence, scoring and conceding 14 goals apiece. Their attacking output has been largely driven by Joseph, who has netted seven times—accounting for half of the team’s total—pointing to a degree of reliance in the final third. Dempo SC midfielder Nestor Dias, who assisted Joseph in the last match, emphasised the growing understanding within the squad in the attacking phase. “Yeah, I think the understanding is going well after so many matches now. We’ve been playing together for a long time, so I think we will continue the good work in the upcoming matches.” Head coach Naik will look towards Joseph’s striking partner, Owusu, to alleviate that burden. With one goal and one assist so far, Owusu will need to elevate his output in the Championship phase if Dempo are to pose a more balanced and sustained attacking challenge.

A draw against Bengaluru FC keeps Mumbai City adrift of the top of the table.

Bengaluru FC – 0                                                                                                                                  Mumbai City FC– 0

Bengaluru, Saturday, April 25, 2026: Mumbai City FC missed the chance to go top of the table after being held to a goalless draw by Bengaluru FC in their Indian Super League 2025-26 clash at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday, April 25. The result leaves Mumbai City FC third with 19 points from 10 matches, while Bengaluru climbs to fourth with 16. Vikram Partap Singh was adjudged Player of the Match. In a high-tempo contest defined by aggressive pressing and compact defensive structures, both sides created promising openings but lacked the final product. Mumbai looked the more incisive side, particularly from wide areas, while Bengaluru remained organised enough to keep the visitors at bay.

Bengaluru FC started on the front foot, pressing high and forcing Mumbai City FC into early errors. Inside two minutes, Siroshiddin Kuziev struck from distance but missed the target despite a full-stretch dive from Phurba Lachenpa. Mumbai responded in the 4th minute when Valpuia’s volley from the edge of the box drew a sharp save from Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. The early exchanges were fast, with both teams pressing high, leaving little time in possession. Width remained central to both sides. Vikram, in his 100th ISL appearance, was a constant threat on the right, delivering dangerous balls across the goal without a finishing touch.

The Islanders nearly took the lead in the 21st minute when Zothanpuia’s inswinging free-kick found Akash Mishra at the far post, but Gurpreet gathered comfortably. They came closer in the 25th minute, as Vikram’s cross found Noufal P.N., who blazed over from point-blank range. The Blues, despite entering the final third regularly, struggled to create clear-cut chances. Their best moment came in the 34th minute when Roshan Naorem Singh’s cross picked out Sunil Chhetri at the near post, whose flick took a deflection and went wide. In the 39th minute, Ashique Kuruniyan’s cross found Ryan Williams at the far post, but he failed to control his first-time attempt, opting to shoot instead of cutting it back. Tactically, Mumbai edged chance creation, but Bengaluru’s structure nullified Brandon Fernandes, forcing play wide—particularly through Vikram.

Mumbai City FC began the second period strongly and created a major chance in the 49th minute. Valpuia won the ball before Joni Kauko released Lallianzuala Chhangte with an aerial through pass. Chhangte, one-on-one with Gurpreet, rounded the keeper but could only hit the side netting as the angle tightened. Bengaluru FC suffered an early setback when Nikhil Poojary was forced off in the 52nd minute and replaced by Namgyal Bhutia. Mumbai remained defensively alert, with Bijay Chhetri intercepting Ashique’s cross in the 54th minute. Bengaluru continued to lack penetration, with Phurba Lachenpa largely untested. Their problems worsened in the 60th minute when Williams was forced off through injury; local youngster Soham Varshneya replaced him.

Varshneya injected energy into the contest, finding good positions and showing quick feet, even striking the side-netting once. The home crowd responded loudly each time the local lad was on the ball. In the 62nd minute, Ashique drove into the box and slipped a pass towards Brian Sanchez through Bijay’s legs, but the forward failed to connect cleanly. Bengaluru appealed for a penalty in the 73rd minute after Ashique went down inside the area, but the referee waved play on. Mumbai had a free-kick in the 77th minute after Valpuia was fouled just outside the box, but his effort failed to hit the target. Mumbai wasted a late chance in the 84th minute when Vikram latched onto a loose ball inside the box but failed to hit the target. Four minutes of added time followed, but neither side found a breakthrough as the match ended goalless.

Clinical FC Goa ease past NorthEast United FC in Guwahati

NorthEast United FC 0                                                                                        FC Goa 2 (Dejan Dražić 20′; Mohammed Yasir 90+3’)

Guwahati, April 24, 2026: FC Goa continued their strong run of form in the Indian Super League 2025-26, registering a 2-0 victory against NorthEast United FC at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati, on Friday. A first-half strike from Dejan Dražić and a stoppage-time goal from substitute Mohammed Yasir ensured all three points for the Gaurs, who climbed to second place with 19 points from 10 matches. NorthEast United FC, meanwhile, remains in 12th place with seven points. Captain Sandesh Jhingan, who delivered a commanding performance at the back, was named the Player of the Match. The Highlanders began brightly, with Redeem Tlang testing Hrithik Tiwari early on with a long-range effort that was comfortably saved. Moments later, Brison Fernandes made a lively run down the left but failed to find a teammate inside the box. At the other end, Boris Singh came close twice from distance, but both efforts drifted just wide.

NorthEast United looked threatening on the break, with Jithin MS nearly capitalising on a well-timed through ball from Lalrinzuala, only to be denied by a composed save from Tiwari. The breakthrough came in the 20th minute when the Gaurs striker Muhammed Nemil produced a clever lofted pass from deep to release winger Dejan Dražić. The forward held off pressure from NorthEast fullback Mayakkannan before unleashing a precise right-footed strike into the bottom corner, giving Goa a deserved lead. However, Dražić’s evening was cut short soon after, as he was forced off with an injury and replaced by Abdul Rabeeh. The substitute made an immediate impact, linking up well with Udanta Singh to create chances, including a close effort from Nemil that narrowly missed the target.

Goa continued to assert control, with Sandesh Jhingan marshalling the defence effectively and stepping up with crucial interceptions to nullify NorthEast’s attacking moves. The hosts did manage a few late first-half advances, but Goa’s backline held firm to take a 1-0 lead into the break. The second half followed a similar pattern, with Goa dictating possession while NorthEast United searched for openings. Early pressure from Goa nearly yielded a second goal when Nemil’s curling free-kick forced an excellent save from the Highlanders keeper Gurmeet. NorthEast United showed greater urgency as the half progressed, with Jithin MS and substitute Parthib Gogoi combining well in attack. However, their efforts were repeatedly thwarted by Goa’s disciplined defensive unit.

Despite a series of corners and attacking phases from the Highlanders, clear-cut chances remained limited. Goa, meanwhile, continued to probe, with Rabeeh and Ayush Chhetri testing the defence, but without adding to the scoreline. Just as NorthEast looked to push for a late equaliser, FC Goa sealed the result in stoppage time. Substitute Huidrom Thoi Singh initiated the move before Aakash Sangwan delivered a hopeful cross from the left. The ball eventually fell to Mohammed Yasir on the right, who controlled it calmly before curling a superb left-footed effort into the top left corner off the post, putting the result beyond doubt. FC Goa comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to register a convincing victory.

Mumbai City FC eye response against Bengaluru FC; Jamshedpur FC host Chennaiyin FC

Bengaluru/Jamshedpur, Friday, April 24, 2026: Mumbai City FC will seek an immediate return to winning ways as they face Bengaluru FC in their Indian Super League 2025–26 match at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday, April 25. The match will kick off at 17:00 IST. Later in the evening, Jamshedpur FC will host Chennaiyin FC at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, with kick-off at 19:30 IST. Both fixtures will be streamed live on FanCode and telecast on Sony Sports TEN 2. Bengaluru FC vs Mumbai City FC Bengaluru FC will aim to return to winning ways following a 3-3 draw against East Bengal FC.

Despite possessing proven attacking threats in Ryan Williams, Sunil Chhetri, and Ashique Kuruniyan, the Blues face a stern examination against the league’s second-best defensive unit, with Mumbai City FC conceding just seven goals in nine matches. Currently on 15 points, a victory would take Bengaluru FC to 18, drawing them level with second-placed Mumbai City FC. Head coach Pep Muñoz underscored the fixture’s significance within the broader title context. “We are still in the race. If we get a good result, we’ll be right there. We can’t change past games, but we can control the performance. We’re facing a very strong team, built to win the league, with quality players and depth. But we are Bengaluru FC, and we’re playing at home. For me, this is a final. It’s my third week here, but tomorrow is a final. We’ve prepared with high motivation and intensity, focusing on improving the details that cost us points in recent games,” he said.

Defender Rahul Bheke, set to face his former club, adopted a measured outlook ahead of the contest. “It’s my former team, but I approach it like any other match. I’ve faced them before, so there’s no added pressure. Of course, I’d like to get on the scoresheet. I haven’t scored this season, so hopefully tomorrow is the day,” he noted.

Mumbai City FC, meanwhile, suffered its first defeat of the campaign, going down 0-2 to FC Goa. The Islanders will be acutely aware of the limited margin for error and will look for an immediate response to sustain pressure on Mohun Bagan Super Giant, who moved to the top of the table after defeating NorthEast United FC. Head coach Petr Krátký highlighted both the contextual and tactical challenges of the fixture.

Bengaluru is a very good team and is in strong form. It’s not easy to play there. The 5 pm kick-off means heat could be a factor, especially in the first half. We are preparing accordingly and making sure the team is ready to perform better than before,” he said. Forward Vikram Partap Singh reinforced the importance of the encounter. “This game is like a final for us. We’re in a strong position and want to win the next few matches. We’ll give everything, and fan support will boost us even more,” he added. With Lallianzuala Chhangte and Brandon Fernandes providing creative impetus and Jorge Pereyra Díaz leading the line, Mumbai City FC will expect a more incisive attacking display following their subdued outing against FC Goa. A victory would take Mumbai City FC back to the top of the table with 21 points, displacing Mohun Bagan Super Giant, who would still have a game in hand.

Historically, Mumbai City FC holds an edge in this fixture, with 9 wins from 18 meetings compared to Bengaluru FC’s 8, with 1 draw. The Islanders have outscored the Blues 31 goals to 26 across these encounters.

Jamshedpur FC will target a return to winning ways at home following a 0-2 defeat to Kerala Blasters FC, where Nihal Sudheesh and Vibin Mohanan scored. The Men of Steel have demonstrated defensive solidity, conceding just eight goals thus far, but have lacked attacking output, scoring only nine in as many matches. Madih Talal is expected to return to the starting XI after featuring as a substitute in the previous match and will serve as the primary creative outlet, with Raphaël Messi Bouli leading the line. In team news, head coach Owen Coyle confirmed that Albino Gomes will start in goal, while Stephen Eze is likely suspended and Sourav Das will miss out due to injury. Currently on 15 points, Jamshedpur FC can climb as high as second with a win, moving to 18, provided other results are favourable.

Coyle, former coach of the Marina Machans, acknowledged his familiarity with the opposition while maintaining a results-orientated focus. “It helps in understanding their players and strengths. They have very good players, such as Farukh Chaudhury, Irfan Yadwad, and Daniel Chima Chukwu. But during the match, my only focus is to win for Jamshedpur. It will be good to see familiar faces, but both teams will be fully competitive,” he said.

Goalkeeper Albino Gomes reflected on the team’s mindset ahead of the fixture. “The pressure is there, but it is good pressure. Everyone is working hard in training, and we need to bring that effort into the match to get a positive result,” he said.

Chennaiyin FC, meanwhile, dropped crucial points after being held to a goalless draw by Mohammedan SC in their previous outing. With the Marina Machans yet to establish a consistent rhythm this season, head coach Clifford Miranda will be targeting a positive run of results, beginning with this fixture. Despite possessing attacking options such as Irfan, Farukh, and Daniel Chima Chukwu, goals have been scarce, with Chennaiyin FC scoring just six, which is the second-lowest tally in the league after Mohammedan SC’s four. Currently 10th with nine points, Chennaiyin FC can climb to eighth place with a win. In Indian Super League head-to-head meetings, Chennaiyin FC holds a clear advantage over Jamshedpur FC, having won eight of their 16 encounters, while Jamshedpur FC has registered three victories, with five matches ending in draws. In terms of goals scored, Chennaiyin FC has netted 31 goals across these fixtures, compared to Jamshedpur FC’s 21.

Miranda delivered a candid assessment of recent performances and the challenge ahead. “In my opinion, the game against Inter Kashi was the worst game we have played this season. Until the 75th minute, we were not in our element, both in terms of attitude and in how we approached the match. We were slow with the ball and too predictable, and we could not match their energy. All they did was put man-to-man pressure in midfield and wait for their chances. Tomorrow, we expect a similar kind of game, but against a much better opponent. Jamshedpur can play direct; they are strong in the air, and at the same time, they have quality players who can play football. Their foreign players especially add quality, so that makes them a much more dangerous side,” he said. Forward Daniel Chima Chukwu, when asked about his role in the coach’s emphasis on tactical change, said, “It is not very different for me. The coach’s style of play is similar to what I experienced back in Europe, so I am comfortable with it. It is a style that suits me more compared to what I was used to before.”

Must-win clash for Chanmari FC as Diamond Harbour FC look to consolidate top spot

Aizawl, Friday, April 24, 2026: Chanmari FC will host Diamond Harbour FC in a championship phase fixture of the Star Cement Indian Football League 2025-26 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on Saturday, April 25. The match is scheduled to kick off at 18:30 IST. The match will be broadcast live on DD Sports and Sony Sports Network and streamed on the Waves App and Sony LIV. Diamond Harbour FC enters the Championship phase at the top of the table with 22 points, firmly in control of the title race. A return of 10 to 11 points from their remaining five fixtures would take them to the 32-33 point range, a tally that would be difficult for their rivals to overhaul, while four wins (34 points) would effectively secure the title irrespective of other outcomes.

Chanmari FC, meanwhile, commence the championship phase in fifth place on 11 points and face a steep climb to force their way into contention. While they remain mathematically alive, their margin for error is virtually non-existent. The Aizawl-based side can reach a maximum of 26 points, meaning they must secure victories in all five fixtures while relying on a significant drop-off from teams above them, an equation that leaves little room for deviation. Beginning the phase on home turf offers Chanmari a tangible psychological advantage, but this fixture carries clear must-win significance. They will draw confidence from ending the league stage on a positive note, having recorded a commanding 4-1 win over Namdhari FC in their last outing, with Pepe, Christopher Kamei, J. Lalruatsanga, and Lalthangliana all finding the net.

Defensively, however, Chanmari remains susceptible. They have conceded 15 goals so far, the third-highest in the league, and are now against the most prolific attacking unit in the competition. Diamond Harbour has scored 22 goals this season, comfortably the highest tally, with second-placed Shillong Lajong FC on 16, six fewer, underscoring the table-toppers’ attacking dominance. The likely centre-back pairing of Lalrinchhana Tochhawng and Zothanpuia will be tasked with containing a potent frontline comprising Luka Majcen, Hugo Diaz, Antonio Moyano and Jobby Justin and will need to absorb sustained attacking pressure.

In the final third, Chanmari’s effectiveness will hinge on Kamei’s influence in midfield. His ability to operate between the lines and deliver incisive, line-breaking passes will be central to unlocking opportunities for Lalruatsanga, Jota and Pepe, who are expected to lead the attack. Kamei’s free role also enables him to advance into scoring positions, adding an additional dimension to the hosts’ attacking play. On paper, Diamond Harbour FC hold a clear edge across departments, further reinforced by their 3-1 victory over Chanmari earlier this season, a result that will serve as a psychological boost heading into this encounter. Kibu Vicuña’s side arrive in strong form, having closed out the league stage with a 5-2 victory over Gokulam Kerala FC. Diaz struck twice in that fixture, while Majcen, Jobby Justin, and Tharpuia also contributed to the scoresheet. With technically sound players such as Diaz and Moyano operating behind Majcen in the No. 9 role, Diamond Harbour is expected to command possession in advanced areas. The presence of former India internationals, Halicharan Narzary and Jobby Justin, on the flanks further enhances their attacking width, enabling them to pin Chanmari deep and restrict their ability to build from the back.

Their attacking threat is further amplified by the distribution of goals across the squad. Majcen, Diaz and Moyano have each scored four goals this season, while Narzary and Tharpuia have contributed three and two, respectively, highlighting a well-balanced and multi-faceted attack. Despite their offensive firepower, Diamond Harbour has shown signs of defensive vulnerability. They have registered just one clean sheet in nine league-stage matches, which came in a 2-0 win against Aizawl in March. This presents a potential opening for Chanmari, and should the hosts construct patient attacking sequences, they are likely to generate opportunities, though converting those chances will be crucial.

Hernández’s late header seals dramatic win for Kerala Blasters against Odisha FC

Kerala Blasters FC – 2 (Víctor Bertomeu 12’, Matías Hernández 90+3’)          Odisha FC – 1 (Rahim Ali 27’)

Kochi, Thursday, April 23, 2026: Kerala Blasters FC secured a 2-1 victory against Odisha FC in Indian Super League 2025-26 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Goals from Víctor Bertomeu and a stoppage-time winner by substitute Matías Hernández sealed all three points for the hosts. The win sees Kerala Blasters move up to ninth in the standings with 11 points from as many matches, while Odisha FC remain 13th with six points from eight games. Bertomeu was named Player of the Match for his influential performance. Kerala Blasters began on the front foot, with Kévin Yoke proving a constant threat down the left flank. His early runs caused problems for Odisha’s defence, and it was his influence that led to the opening goal in the 12th minute. After a driving run and a blocked effort by Hitesh Sharma that ricocheted into the box, Bertomeu reacted quickest, controlling the ball neatly before slotting home from close range to give the hosts the lead.

The Tuskers continued to press, with Bertomeu testing Amrinder Singh again moments later, while Arsh Anwer Shaikh remained alert at the other end to deny Rahim Ali during Odisha’s first meaningful attack. Despite Kerala’s early dominance, Odisha gradually grew into the game, enjoying more possession and probing for openings. Their persistence paid off in the 27th minute when Rahim Ali finished a well-worked move, combining neatly with Hitesh before firing a composed effort into the bottom corner to bring the visitors level. The remainder of the first half saw both sides exchange chances, with Francisco Feuillassier and Nihal Sudheesh going close for Kerala, while Odisha continued to threaten on the counter through Rahim Ali. However, neither side could find the breakthrough before the interval.

Odisha started the second half with renewed intensity, forcing a series of early corners and testing Arsh Shaikh, who produced a string of important saves to keep the scores level. Kerala’s defence, led by Aibanbha Dohling and Vibin Mohanan, also stood firm under sustained pressure. As the game progressed, both teams traded spells of control, but clear-cut chances remained limited. Yoke continued to orchestrate Kerala’s attacks from midfield, while Odisha looked dangerous through quick transitions, with Lalthathanga Khawlhring and Isak Vanlalruatfela involved in several forward moves. The contest appeared to be heading towards a draw until late drama unfolded in stoppage time. In the 93rd minute, Kerala Blasters capitalised on a corner, as substitute Ebindas Y delivered a precise cross into the box. Substitute Matías Hernández timed his run perfectly and rose to head the ball into the net, sealing a crucial late winner for the hosts.

Kerala nearly added another moment later through Yoke, but the goal was ruled out for offside, while Odisha’s final attempt in stoppage time drifted wide as the visitors searched desperately for an equaliser. At the final whistle, Kerala Blasters FC emerged with a hard-fought three points, extending their positive run, while Odisha FC were left to reflect on missed opportunities despite a spirited performance.

Infusio 2026: Where Nature Becomes Design’s Most Intelligent Muse

In a city where culture and creativity constantly evolve, NIF Global Saltlake – the Platinum Centre in the country & a Centre of Excellence – introduces Infusio 2026 – an interior design exhibition that doesn’t just present ideas but redefines how we experience space itself. With nearly three decades of legacy and a reputation for producing industry-ready designers, the institute has long stood at the intersection of education and real-world impact. But this year, it moves a step further—into the realm of design that thinks, adapts, and breathes. At the heart of Infusio 2026 lies Biomimicry—not as a trend, but as a philosophy. Here, nature is not referenced; it is translated. Forms echo organic intelligence, materials respond with intention, and spaces are conceived as living systems rather than static environments.

The exhibition unfolds as a curated journey through the minds of emerging designers. Sculptural furniture crafted from recycled cardboard challenges perceptions of materiality, while eco-conscious product designs balance restraint with refinement. Compact studio concepts reveal an acute understanding of modern urban living, and landscape interventions—both vernacular and contemporary—bring forth a quiet dialogue between ecology and design. The subtle integration of Vastu principles adds another layer, where spatial harmony meets intuitive well-being. What sets this showcase apart is not just its visual language but also its underlying conviction—that sustainability and luxury are no longer opposing ideas. Here, they coexist effortlessly, expressed through thoughtful detailing, innovative material exploration, and a deep sensitivity to the environment.

Beyond the installations, Infusio 2026 becomes a space of exchange. Workshops on professional photography and Vastu-integrated landscape design extend the experience, offering a tactile understanding of how design is both seen and felt. It is in these moments—between concept and craft—that the exhibition reveals its true intent. More than an academic showcase, Infusio 2026 positions itself as a cultural statement—one that signals the emergence of a new design consciousness. A generation that is not only aesthetically driven but also ethically aware and globally relevant. In this carefully constructed world, design is no longer about decoration. It is about intelligence, responsibility, and emotion. And perhaps most importantly, it is about the future.

Ltd., creator of India’s most loved homegrown children’s character Chhota Bheem, has partnered with Indo Nissin Foods Private Limited for the launch of “Nissin Chhota Bheem Masala Noodles”, marking a significant brand extension into the high-frequency FMCG space. The collaboration brings together two strong consumer brands – Chhota Bheem, a character that has built deep emotional equity with Indian families over two decades, and Nissin, a household name in the instant noodles category. Kelvinator Turns up the Cool Factor this summer with its Disruptive ‘Summer Paused’ 3D OOH Innovation

Larger-Than-Life Installation brings ‘Heavy Duty Cooling’ alive in Kolkata.

Kolkata, April 22, 2026: Kelvinator India has elevated outdoor advertising with a high-impact 3D hoarding that boldly declares ‘Summer Paused’, bringing its powerful cooling promise to life in a way that stops commuters in their tracks. Currently rolled out across a high-impact site in Kolkata, the campaign will soon extend to Ahmedabad and Mangalore, timed to cut through peak summer clutter when air conditioner advertising is at its most competitive.

Creative Execution

The installation features a bold 3D visual where a frost-covered figure scales a towering ladder to climb into a larger-than-life billboard—one that has been entirely taken over by the chill. Inside the frame, a Kelvinator split AC cools the space so powerfully that a cheerful snowman, complete with a yellow beanie and scarf, lounges comfortably on a couch. Icicles cascade dramatically along the billboard’s borders and extend beyond the frame, blurring the line between the creative and the real world. The headline “Summer Paused” anchors the idea, while the sub-message “Heavy Duty Cooling” reinforces the product promise—turning a static outdoor format into a theatrical, temperature-defying spectacle.

Media Strategy

The campaign leverages premium OOH formats in three climatically and commercially significant markets during peak summer months. By extending elements beyond the billboard frame, the brand reimagines traditional outdoors into an experience-led medium. Designed for both on-ground impact and digital amplification, the installation encourages user-generated content, as commuters stop to capture and share the creative, driving organic social visibility alongside physical reach. #KelvinatorForTheCoolestOne #SummerPaused

Brand Objective

The campaign reflects Kelvinator’s positioning—”For the Coolest One”—targeting aspiration-driven consumers who seek both performance and style. The creative translates the product promise into a compelling, real-world brand experience. With this campaign, Kelvinator India demonstrates how innovative OOH can drive both visibility and engagement, particularly in high-clutter, seasonal categories like air conditioners. As temperatures rise, the message is clear: for powerful, reliable cooling, Kelvinator air conditioners deliver. The new range of Kelvinator air conditioners is thoughtfully designed to meet the evolving demands of India’s diverse and increasingly challenging climatic conditions. The new range represents a seamless convergence of intelligent smart technology, superior energy efficiency, and the time-tested dependability that has long been synonymous with the Kelvinator name.

Experts highlight the rising burden of road accidents and osteoporosis-related fractures; they call for stronger awareness, faster response systems, and improved access to care.

Kolkata, 17th April, 2026: With trauma emerging as a leading cause of death and disability in India, healthcare experts today emphasized the urgent need for a comprehensive approach to trauma care—spanning prevention, early intervention, and advanced treatment Speaking at a press conference on “Rebuilding Lives: Advancing Trauma Care in India”, leading clinicians and industry representatives highlighted the dual burden of road traffic accidents and osteoporosis-related fragility fractures, which together account for a significant proportion of trauma cases across the country. India continues to witness a high incidence of road traffic accidents, particularly affecting the young and economically productive population. These incidents often result in complex injuries such as long bone fractures, pelvic trauma, and multi-system complications.

Dr. Rakesh Rajput said, “Timely intervention during the golden hour can make the difference between life and death, or permanent disability and full recovery. Strengthening emergency response systems and increasing awareness on road safety are critical steps toward reducing this burden.” Alongside high-energy trauma, experts also highlighted the growing incidence of fragility fractures, especially among the elderly population. Often caused by low-impact falls, these fractures are linked to underlying osteoporosis and can lead to long-term disability and loss of independence if not managed effectively.

Dr. Rajesh Kushwaha added, “Osteoporosis is often underdiagnosed. Early screening, lifestyle changes, and timely treatment can significantly reduce the risk of fractures and improve quality of life.” Over the past decade, trauma care in India has seen significant advancements in surgical techniques, implant technologies, and minimally invasive procedures—enabling faster recovery and better patient outcomes. A strong emphasis was also placed on continuous surgeon training and standardisation of care, which play a vital role in ensuring consistent, high-quality treatment across healthcare centres. Addressing trauma effectively requires collaboration between healthcare providers, industry, policymakers, and the community. Experts concluded by urging all stakeholders to prioritise trauma as a public health agenda.

“Trauma is not just a medical challenge—it is a societal one. With the right focus on prevention, timely care, and rehabilitation, we can significantly reduce its impact and help patients return to their normal lives,” the panel noted.
