Chennaiyin FC look to build winning momentum against Mohammedan Sporting

Chennai, Monday, April 20, 2026: Chennaiyin FC will aim to build momentum when they host Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Indian Super League 2025-26 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday, April 20, 2026. The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:30 IST. The fixture will be streamed live on the FanCode app and telecast on Sony Sports TEN 2. The Marina Machans come into the contest on the back of a narrow 1-0 victory against Sporting Club Delhi, a result that helped them snap a three-match winless run that included a draw against FC Goa and defeats to Inter Kashi and East Bengal. That outcome has provided a timely lift for Chennaiyin, who are currently placed 10th with eight points from as many matches and could move up to ninth with another positive result. While they have shown encouraging attacking intent in recent outings, Chennaiyin have scored six goals so far this season, the second-lowest tally in the league, and will look to improve their efficiency in the final third. Providing insight into the team’s evolving approach, assistant coach Anthony Fernandes said, “In previous home matches, like the one against East Bengal, we performed well in terms of possession and chance creation. We are currently in the process of adapting to a slightly different playing style than what the coach refers to as ‘progressive possession’. These changes take time, and while results may not always reflect the effort immediately, it’s part of the transition. That said, we cannot use that as an excuse. We must capitalise on our home advantage and aim to improve in every match. We are putting in our best effort to get better results going forward.” Meanwhile, defender Laldinliana Renthlei provided an update on Farukh Choudhary’s availability after the forward suffered a niggle in his last match against Sporting Club Delhi, where he scored the winner.

“Farukh is currently around 50-50. He was undergoing rehabilitation even today. A final decision will be made tomorrow after his fitness test,” said Renthlei. Mohammedan SC, meanwhile, will be keen to build on the positives from their last outing, a 1-1 draw against Odisha FC that saw them register their first point of the campaign. The Kolkata club is yet to record a win this season and currently has one point from eight matches. Attacker Thokchom Adison Singh, who scored in Mohammedan’s 1-1 draw against Odisha, highlighted a positive shift in morale within the camp following the last result: “The atmosphere is very good. Everyone is motivated, much better than before. Personally, I feel fresh and confident after scoring.” With Thokchom leading the line, alongside experienced defender Hira Mondal and midfielder Amarjit Singh Kiyam, Mohammedan will hope to cause an upset in Chennai. বিশেষ প্রতিবেদক, কোলকাতা: মনোরম বসন্তের বিদায়ঘণ্টা বেজে গেল রাজ্যে। আলিপুর আবহাওয়া দফতরের সাম্প্রতিকতম পূর্বাভাস অনুযায়ী, কালবৈশাখী বা বজ্রবিদ্যুৎসহ বৃষ্টির পালা শেষ করে ফের বাংলাজুড়ে ফিরছে প্রাণান্তকর গরম। আগামী সাতদিন রাজ্যের কোথাও বৃষ্টির কোনও সম্ভাবনা নেই বললেই চলে, বরং পাল্লা দিয়ে বাড়বে রোদের তেজ এবং লু-এর দাপট। বিশেষ করে ১৩ থেকে ১৬ এপ্রিল—এই চারদিন দক্ষিণবঙ্গের জেলাগুলিতে আবহাওয়া ‘ভয়ঙ্কর’ রূপ নিতে পারে বলে সতর্ক করেছেন আবহাওয়াবিদেরা। উত্তর থেকে দক্ষিণ, গোটা রাজ্যেই তাপমাত্রার পারদ এক ধাক্কায় অনেকটা চড়বে।হাওয়া অফিসের বুলেটিন বলছে, আগামী কয়েক দিনে দক্ষিণবঙ্গের জেলাগুলিতে সর্বোচ্চ তাপমাত্রা স্বাভাবিকের চেয়ে ৫ থেকে ৭ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস পর্যন্ত বাড়তে পারে। পশ্চিমাঞ্চলের জেলাগুলিতে পরিস্থিতির অবনতি হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা সবথেকে বেশি। সোমবার থেকে বৃহস্পতিবার পর্যন্ত বাঁকুড়া, পুরুলিয়া, পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর, ঝাড়গ্রাম এবং পশ্চিম বর্ধমানে দহনজ্বালা চরমে উঠবে। শুষ্ক গরম বাতাসের পাশাপাশি আর্দ্রতাজনিত অস্বস্তি সাধারণ মানুষের নাভিশ্বাস তুলবে। যদিও সোমবার স্থানীয়ভাবে বজ্রগর্ভ মেঘ সঞ্চারের ফলে দু-এক জায়গায় ছিটেফোঁটা বৃষ্টির সম্ভাবনা উড়িয়ে দিচ্ছে না হাওয়া অফিস, তবে সেই বৃষ্টিতে দহনজ্বালা কমার বদলে ভ্যাপসা গরম আরও বাড়বে বলেই মনে করা হচ্ছে।কলকাতার চিত্রও যথেষ্ট উদ্বেগজনক। রবিবার সকাল থেকেই তিলোত্তমার আকাশ পরিষ্কার, তবে বেলার বাড়ার সাথে সাথে আর্দ্রতাজনিত অস্বস্তি বাড়তে শুরু করেছে। গত শনিবার যেখানে শহরের সর্বোচ্চ তাপমাত্রা ছিল ৩১.৩ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস, রবিবারের মধ্যেই তা একলাফে কয়েক ডিগ্রি বেড়ে যাওয়ার আশঙ্কা রয়েছে। বুধবারের মধ্যে মহানগরীর পারদ স্বাভাবিকের চেয়ে অনেকটাই উপরে অবস্থান করবে। মূলত শুষ্ক পশ্চিমা বাতাসের প্রভাবে বাতাসে জলীয় বাষ্পের পরিমাণ কম থাকায় রোদের তাপ ত্বকে জ্বালা ধরাবে। আগামী কয়েক দিন বেলা বাড়লে খুব প্রয়োজন ছাড়া সাধারণ মানুষকে বাড়ির বাইরে বের না হওয়ার পরামর্শ দিয়েছেন চিকিৎসকেরা।এদিকে উত্তরবঙ্গের ক্ষেত্রে আবহাওয়ার কিছুটা মিশ্র ছবি ধরা পড়ছে। পাহাড়ি জেলাগুলোতে এখনও হালকা বৃষ্টির আমেজ থাকলেও তা দীর্ঘস্থায়ী হবে না। দার্জিলিং, কালিম্পং এবং জলপাইগুড়ির মতো জেলাগুলিতে রবিবার পর্যন্ত হালকা বজ্রবিদ্যুৎসহ বৃষ্টির পূর্বাভাস রয়েছে। তবে আগামী সপ্তাহ থেকে পাহাড়ের চিত্রও বদলাতে শুরু করবে। সেখানেও বৃষ্টির দাপট কমে গিয়ে রোদের তেজ বাড়তে শুরু করবে। মালদহ এবং দুই দিনাজপুরের মতো উত্তরবঙ্গের নিচের দিকের জেলাগুলোতেও পারদ ৩ থেকে ৫ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস পর্যন্ত চড়তে পারে বলে অনুমান করা হচ্ছে।চৈত্র শেষে বৈশাখের শুরুতেই এমন চরম দাবদাহের ভ্রুকুটি কপালে চিন্তার ভাঁজ ফেলেছে সাধারণ মানুষের। একদিকে যেমন নির্বাচনী প্রচারের পারদ চড়ছে, অন্যদিকে প্রকৃতির এই রুদ্ররূপ জনজীবনকে বিপর্যস্ত করে তুলতে পারে বলে আশঙ্কা করা হচ্ছে। চিকিৎসকদের মতে, এই সময়ে ডিহাইড্রেশন এবং সানস্ট্রোকের ঝুঁকি এড়াতে পর্যাপ্ত পরিমাণে জল ও লিকুইড ডায়েট অত্যন্ত জরুরি। আবহাওয়া দফতরের ইঙ্গিত, আপাতত সাতদিন বৃষ্টির দেখা পাওয়ার কোনও আশা নেই, ফলে বাংলার মানুষকে এখনই রোদের কামড় সইবার প্রস্তুতি নিতে হবে।

India Autism Centre Leads Dialogue on Lifelong Autism Care through ‘Autism in Practice’

Kolkata, 12 April 2026: The India Autism Centre (IAC), a leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting individuals with autism and related developmental conditions, commemorated World Autism Awareness Month through “Autism in Practice” in association with the Society of Paediatric Neurology Bengal, a thoughtfully curated series of parent-focused knowledge sessions. Aligned with its vision of building Samaavesh, India’s largest lifelong residential care ecosystem for neurodiverse individuals, the initiative reflected IAC’s commitment to creating an inclusive, informed, and supportive community ecosystem. The sessions brought together leading multidisciplinary specialists as panellists, including Dr. Sudip Saha, Dr. R Arijit Chattopadhyay, Dr. Jashodhara Chaudhuri, Dr. Mousumi Mukherjee, Dr. Abir Mukherjee, Dr. Nandita Chattopadhyay, Dr. Kaushambi Basu, Dr. Pradip Paria, Dr. MD Sahidul Arefin, and Dr. Siddhartha Nandi. The programme commenced with a keynote address by Mr. Jaishankar Natarajan, Director and CEO, India Autism Center, setting the tone for meaningful dialogue and awareness. This was followed by a focused session on occupational therapy led by Dr Manish Samnani, Clinical Director at SOCH and President of the Haryana Chapter of AIOTA, who shared actionable strategies aimed at enhancing functional independence among individuals on the autism spectrum.

The event featured multiple expert-led sessions, of which “Medicines and Beyond”, moderated by Dr Rudrajit Sinha, brought together multispecialty clinicians, therapists, and domain experts. The discussion explored integrated approaches to autism care, highlighting the importance of balancing medical, behavioural, and therapeutic interventions, while underscoring the need for collaborative, multidisciplinary care models tailored to individual needs. It also extended beyond autism care to touch upon evolving intervention methods and the growing landscape of paediatric neurology, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis, specialised care, and continuous advancements in treatment approaches.

The latter half of the event featured other sessions on nutrition in children on the spectrum led by Prof. Dr. Kalpana Dutta, focusing on dietary considerations, feeding challenges, and the role of nutrition in the overall development of children on the spectrum. A fireside chat with parent advocates, Ms. Nilanjana Rambothu and Ms. Sumitra Paul Bakshi highlighted lived experiences and milestones in one’s parenting journey, followed by a session by Ms. Ranjana Chakraborty on behavioural modification strategies for pre-teens and teens on the spectrum, addressing emotional regulation, social skills, and practical interventions, and concluding with closing remarks by Dr. Jashodhara Chaudhuri and Sakhi Singhi.

Speaking at the event, Mr Jaishankar Natarajan, Director and CEO, India Autism Center, shared, ‘Autism in Practice’ reflects our commitment to empowering families with the right knowledge, tools, and insights to make informed decisions. At IAC, we believe that awareness must go together with practical guidance, and this initiative is a step towards bridging that gap for parents navigating complex care journeys. Equally important is our focus on addressing the long-term needs of autistic individuals beyond early intervention, particularly around residential care. Engaging with parents, professionals, and individuals on the spectrum created a valuable space for shared learning and dialogue. While I had the opportunity to discuss practical, day-to-day behavioural management strategies for home settings, I also gained important insights from the lived experiences and perspectives shared during the session. Such collaborative initiatives are essential in strengthening our collective understanding and advancing more responsive, person-centric approaches to autism care.”

IIT Kharagpur Launches Online Executive Programmes in AI, Machine Learning, and Tech Leadership

Kharagpur, 13th April 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, has launched a series of online executive certification programmes in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and technology leadership, designed to equip working professionals with end-to-end, production-ready AI capabilities, from problem framing and system design to deployment at scale.

IIT Kharagpur is launching online executive programmes for the first time as part of its Platinum Jubilee Year celebration. Languishing at the bottom of the table with just one point from seven matches, the Blasters desperately need to spark their season into life. A victory on the road would provide them with a massive morale boost to avoid the relegation zone.

Bengaluru FC has dominated this matchup. In 17 previous ISL meetings, the Blues have claimed 11 victories to Kerala Blasters FC’s four, with just two matches ending in a draw. Despite Jamshedpur’s sustained pressure, it was Mumbai City who struck on the brink of half-time with a well-worked move. The conference saw industry leaders and policymakers come together to discuss how India can scale up manufacturing, adopt Industry 4.0 technologies, and strengthen its position in global value chains. Emphasising the importance of such a shift, Mr Sutirtha Bhattacharya, Chairman, WEBEL, Government of West Bengal, stated, “Conferences such as these are points of inflection. The integration of cutting-edge technology with traditional manufacturing processes will drive India’s growth. India has launched several missions in the past; it is now time to introduce the “Advanced Manufacturing Mission.”

Two key priorities must be emphasised: first, scaling up alongside skilling; and second, expanding the country’s industrial base through technology and innovation,” he said.

Mr Dilip Sawhney, Chairman, CII National Committee on Smart Manufacturing and Managing Director, Rockwell Automation India, said, “Crises in the Middle East are impacting global supply chains and energy, while trade disruptions due to tariffs continue to persist. ” Manufacturing, however, is growing and attracting investments through initiatives such as PLI and deeper integration into global value chains. This is clear proof that the sector is on an upward trajectory, supported by technological advancements. The scale of manufacturing must transition towards greater sophistication, with increased local value addition across the value chain. MSMEs represent the ‘missing middle’ with immense potential, and this gap must be bridged to create an ‘emerging middle’. Connectedness through IoT and AI enables flexibility and drives outcomes such as productivity, safety, quality, resilience, and sustainability. We must explore how a new operating model can evolve through this paradigm.”

Adding further momentum to the discussions, CII also unveiled its report titled ‘Strategic Insights on Advanced Manufacturing – A CII MFS Report’. The report captures how India is steadily moving towards advanced manufacturing, driven by the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies and a sharper focus on global competitiveness. It offers a clear view of the key trends, emerging technologies, and policy priorities shaping the sector. With strong market knowledge, CII Market Facilitation Services (MFS) has been important in this effort by providing useful data and helping businesses connect more with the industry, making it easier for them to find global opportunities and support India’s move towards a stronger and more technology-focused manufacturing system. New Range of Room Air Conditioners for 2026

Blue Star Limited has announced the launch of its new range of Room Air Conditioners for Summer 2026, further strengthening the Company’s presence in India’s residential and commercial cooling segments. The comprehensive portfolio comprises 125 models of Room Air Conditioners, including a flagship premium range, catering to a wide spectrum of customer requirements and usage environments. All models comply with the new Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) standards that came into effect on January 1, 2026. The expanded lineup has been strategically developed to address the growing demand for energy-efficient, high-performance cooling solutions across diverse applications.

India’s room AC industry is witnessing sustained structural growth, supported by rising affluence, rapid urbanisation, and increasing climate intensity. The category is projected to expand from approximately 14 million units to 30 million units by FY30, driven by strong first-time adoption in low-penetration markets as well as replacement demand in more mature urban centres. Tier 3, 4, and 5 markets are emerging as key growth engines, outpacing Tier 1 and 2 cities, albeit on a smaller base.

The comprehensive portfolio includes inverter, fixed-speed, and window air conditioners, catering to diverse customer segments across multiple price points. A key highlight is the launch of ‘Iconia’, a premium range in an elegant Midnight Silver finish, designed to appeal to discerning consumers.

The Company has launched a formidable range of flagship models, including ‘Super Energy-Efficient ACs’, ‘Heavy-Duty ACs’, ‘Hot & Cold ACs’, and ‘ACs with Anti-Virus Technology’.
Blue Star’s ‘Super Energy-Efficient ACs’ feature a unique Dynamic Drive Technology to achieve enhanced energy efficiency with optimised cooling by delivering high airflow volumes. As a result, the 1TR inverter split ACs achieve an ISEER of 6.25, making it 45% more energy efficient than a 3-star inverter AC.
The ‘Heavy-Duty ACs’ range is built with superior specifications and delivers exceptional cooling power and comfort, even in the scorching heat of up to 56°C. Featuring a robust air throw of up to 55 feet, the ACs maintain full cooling capacity even at 43°C, ensuring optimal performance in extreme conditions.

The Company’s ‘Hot & Cold ACs’ are engineered to provide year-round comfort across diverse climates. Blue Star offers a specialised model that operates at ambient temperatures as low as -15°C, ideal for extreme winter markets like Srinagar, along with models designed to perform efficiently down to -5°C for regions experiencing harsh winters.

To support the growth of its Room Air Conditioners business, Blue Star has strengthened its manufacturing footprint across multiple facilities. The Company’s current production capacity is approximately 1.4 million units, scalable to 1.8 million units to meet rising demand. Blue Star operates a state-of-the-art plant at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, along with two plants in Himachal Pradesh, all dedicated to room AC production.
