বিগত ২২শে মার্চ কলকাতার সাংস্কৃতিক পরিমণ্ডলে এক উল্লেখযোগ্য সংযোজন হিসেবে অনুষ্ঠিত হল জাতীয় স্তরে খ্যাতি সম্পন্ন ভারতনাট্যম নৃত্যশিল্পী যাজ্ঞসেনী চ্যাটার্জীর একক নৃত্যানুষ্ঠানে ; ২০০৬ সালের পর ২0 বছর পরে নিজের শহর কলকাতায় অনুষ্ঠান করলেন তিনি। প্রখ্যাত অভিনেত্রী সোমা দে-র কন্যা যাজ্ঞসেনীর এই অনুষ্ঠান আয়োজিত হয় ডক্টর থাঙ্কুমণি কুট্টির নৃত্যপ্রশিক্ষণ কেন্দ্র কলা মণ্ডলমে। দুই পর্বে বিভক্ত এই অনুষ্ঠানে একদিকে যেমন ছিল যাজ্ঞসেনীর মনোমুগ্ধকর ভারতনাট্যম পরিবেশনা, অন্যদিকে ছিল নৃত্য, অভিনয় এবং শিল্পীসত্তার নানা দিক নিয়ে এক বিশেষ আলোচনা সভা। এই আলোচনায় অংশ নেন অভিনেত্রী সোমা দে ও যাজ্ঞসেনী নিজে, এবং সঞ্চালনার দায়িত্বে ছিলেন সোমনাথ কুট্টি। ভারতবর্ষের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় ভারতনাট্যম বিষয়ক আলোচনা সভায় অংশগ্রহণ করেছেন যাজ্ঞসেনী। নৃত্যের মধ্যে দিয়ে শিশু মনের বিকাশ বিষয়ে বিশেষ ভাবে কাজ করে চলেছেন তিনি । যাজ্ঞসেনী দীর্ঘদিন ধরে খ্যাতনামা ভারতনাট্যম গুরু ডক্টর লক্ষ্মী রামস্বামীর কাছে গুরুশিষ্যা পরম্পরায় নৃত্যশিক্ষা গ্রহণ করেছেন। দক্ষিণ ভারতে নিজের শিল্পচর্চার মাধ্যমে তিনি ইতিমধ্যেই ভারতনাট্যম জগতে একটি স্বতন্ত্র পরিচিতি গড়ে তুলেছেন।

নিজের প্রথম কলকাতা পরিবেশনা প্রসঙ্গে যাজ্ঞসেনী বলেন, ছোটবেলা থেকেই মা সোমা দে-র প্রভাবে নৃত্যের সঙ্গে অভিনয়ের প্রতি তাঁর বিশেষ আকর্ষণ তৈরি হয়। পড়াশোনার পাশাপাশি নাচ, গান, আঁকার মধ্যে বড় হয়ে ওঠা সত্ত্বেও নৃত্যই হয়ে ওঠে তাঁর মূল সাধনা। গুরু ডক্টর লক্ষ্মী রামস্বামীর অবদান তিনি বিশেষভাবে স্মরণ করেন এবং জানান, দক্ষিণ ভারতে শিল্পচর্চার সময় বহু সম্মান ও মঞ্চ পাওয়ার সুযোগ হলেও নিজের শহরে এই প্রথম পরিবেশনা তাঁর কাছে অত্যন্ত আবেগঘন। এই অনুষ্ঠানে সময়ের স্রোত ধরে বিভিন্ন যুগের কবিতায় নারীর উপস্থিতি, আবেগ ও অনুভূতিকে বিভিন্ন চরিত্রের মাধ্যমে তুলে ধরেন তিনি। প্রাচীন কাব্য থেকে শুরু করে বিংশ শতাব্দীর কবিতায় মননের বিবর্তনকে নৃত্যের ভাষায় প্রকাশ করার এক অনন্য প্রচেষ্টা ছিল এই উপস্থাপনায়। অবিব্যক্তির প্রকৃত প্রকাশে যে ভাষা কোনও বাধা সৃষ্টি করতে পারে না, নৃত্যের প্রকাশে ভাষা ও ভাবনার ঊর্ধ্বে উঠে অনুভূতিই হয়ে ওঠে প্রধান, এই ভাবনাই ফুটে উঠেছে পরিবেশনার মধ্যে দিয়ে । খুব শীঘ্রই কলকাতায় আরও নতুন নতুন প্রযোজনা নিয়ে আসার পরিকল্পনাও রয়েছে যাজ্ঞসেনী চ্যাটার্জীর।

The book serves as a practical and comprehensive guide addressing the rising burden of digestive disorders, covering key concerns, preventive strategies, advanced treatment options, and surgical interventions tailored to modern lifestyles.

Blue Tigers head coach Khalid Jamil names 23-member squad for Asian Cup qualifier against Hong Kong

New Delhi, Tuesday, March 24, 2026: Indian senior men’s national team head coach Khalid Jamil has named a 23-member squad for the last match of the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 qualifiers final round against Hong Kong, China, to be held on March 31, 2026. The Blue Tigers begin their camp in Kochi on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, where 20 players, along with the staff, have assembled. Defender Anwar Ali, midfielder Jeakson Singh Thounaojam, and forward Edmund Lalrindika, who played their last Indian Super League 2025-26 match against Mohammedan Sporting Club on Monday, March 23, will join the squad later on Tuesday. India lands in Maldives for SAFF U20 Championship, Malé, Maldives

March 24, 2026: The India U20 men’s team has arrived in the Maldives ahead of the SAFF U20 Championship, with the tournament kicking off in Malé on Monday, March 23, 2026. The Blue Colts arrived in the Maldives capital on Monday and will face Pakistan (March 26) and Bangladesh (March 28) in Group B. Both matches will kick off at 16:15 IST at the National Stadium in Malé. Group A consists of hosts Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bhutan. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, which will take place on April 1. The final will be held on April 3. In the 65th minute, Rahul KP found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper following a quick break and finished confidently to extend the lead to 3-1.

The visitors added a fourth just three minutes later. A cross into the box by right-back Vanlalzuidika found Ali and, eventually, Isak, who immediately smashed it into the goal. The midfielder from NorthEast, Bekey, attempted to clear the ball but only managed to hit the roof of his own net, resulting in a 4-1 victory for the visitors in the 68th minute. Odisha continued to threaten, with Isak testing Gurmeet Singh from distance in the 72nd minute. Speaking ahead of the match, Kerala Blasters head coach David Català said, “We performed better than in other games in the last match. We showed character and competed, especially in the first half against them. I’m satisfied with the point, but I’m overall dissatisfied with the situation. Both have faced each other four times in the ISL, winning two each away from their respective homes. In the last meeting between the teams, Blasters edged Punjab FC 1-0 with Noah Sadaoui scoring the winner in New Delhi. In Kochi, they beat the home side 2-1, which was also Dilmperis’s first match in charge of the side. Both head coaches had mutual respect before the crucial fixture. “They are a very difficult team to play against. They are compact on defence and know exactly what they have to do. Rajasthan United eye top spot; Real Kashmir hope for first win in IFL 2024-25

The Islanders recorded their third win of the campaign to move up to third in the standings with 11 points, while Inter Kashi remained eighth with five points. Islanders’ captain Lallianzuala Chhangte was adjudged Player of the Match.

Mumbai dominated possession in the opening exchanges, putting the hosts under sustained pressure. Left winger Ayush Chhikara produced the first effort in the fourth minute, but his close-range attempt was comfortably saved by Inter Kashi keeper Lluis Tarrés. Guwahati, Sunday, March 15, 2026: Two second-half goals from Andy Rodríguez powered NorthEast United FC to a 2-1 victory over Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League 2025-26 season at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday, March 15, 2026. The Highlanders secured their first victory of the campaign and moved up to seventh in the standings with six points, while Jamshedpur FC suffered their first defeat of the season but remains second with 12 points. Rodríguez was adjudged the Player of the Match for his decisive two-goal performance.

NorthEast United FC head coach Juan Pedro Benali made three changes to his starting lineup, introducing Bekey Oram and Laishram Danny Meitei in midfield along with defender Dinesh Singh in a 4-3-2-1 formation. Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle also made two alterations in midfield, bringing in Rei Tachikawa and Rosenberg Gabriel while retaining the same tactical setup. The contest began at a brisk pace with both sides exchanging possession in the opening minutes but struggling to break into the final third. Jamshedpur keeper Albino Gomes produced a sweeping clearance outside the box in the 13th minute to deny a potential attacking opportunity for the hosts.

Jamshedpur created the first real chance in the 19th minute when Messi Bouli rose to meet Mohammed Sanan’s cross, but his header drifted narrowly wide. NorthEast responded soon after with midfielder Macarton Nickson testing Gomes from a distance, though the goalkeeper comfortably gathered the effort. The Highlanders looked increasingly dangerous in attack, with Parthib Gogoi troubling the defence before being brought down by centre back Pratik Chaudhari during a promising run in the 27th minute.

Northeast was forced into an early change in the 39th minute when captain Míchel Zabaco was substituted due to a hamstring injury, with Asheer Akhtar coming on in his place. The Highlanders nearly found the breakthrough just before the interval when midfielder Danny Meitei headed over from an Andy Rodríguez corner, as the first half ended goalless. NorthEast broke the deadlock eight minutes into the second half. Andy Rodríguez stepped up to take a free-kick in the 53rd minute and produced a precise left-footed strike into the bottom-right corner to give the Highlanders the lead.

Jamshedpur responded with attempts from Nikola Stojanović and Rei Tachikawa, but both efforts failed to trouble the goal. Stojanović then forced a save from Gurmeet Singh in the 58th minute as the visitors increased the pressure. The Men of Steel were awarded a penalty in the 66th minute when Bouli was brought down inside the box by centre back Dinesh Singh. Bouli stepped up to take the spot kick and calmly converted in the 68th minute, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to level the scores at 1-1. However, NorthEast restored their lead almost immediately. Just a minute later, Rodríguez collected the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a precise left-footed strike into the net to score his second goal and make it 2-1 in the 69th minute.

Jamshedpur continued to search for another equaliser, with Bouli attempting a long-range effort in the 79th minute that drifted wide. NorthEast too looked to extend their lead, but Ankith Padmanabhan’s strike in the 85th minute was blocked. The hosts came close again in the 89th minute when substitute Thoi Singh fired narrowly wide from inside the box. Jamshedpur pushed forward in stoppage time, but Stojanović’s long-range effort in injury time sailed wide of the target. The final whistle confirmed a 2-1 victory for NorthEast United FC, as Andy Rodríguez’s brace secured the Highlanders’ first win of the season.

Unbeaten FC Goa face Punjab FC

New Delhi, Sunday, March 15, 2026: FC Goa will look to continue their unbeaten run when they face Punjab FC in the Indian Super League 2025-26 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on Monday, March 16, 2026. FC Goa, who are unbeaten in their first four matches of the season, including two wins and as many draws, will be up against Punjab FC, who themselves are unbeaten in their last two games. Speaking ahead of the match, FC Goa head coach Manolo Márquez said, “Against East Bengal, the team played with a lot of personality and kept possession for long periods. We would like to continue playing in the same way against Punjab. The atmosphere in the dressing room is very good, and that helps the team move in the right direction.” Punjab FC could not find the winner in their previous match against NorthEast United after dominating the game for most periods. Punjab FC head coach Pangiotis Dilmperis said, “We need faster decision-making and better quality in our final actions. We must improve our finishing and decision-making to convert those opportunities into goals.”

Speaking about the opposition, the Greek coach said, “FC Goa are a very good team with a clear plan and strong players. CTMA organises free cataract surgery camp for the underprivileged in Kolkata

15th March 2026, Kolkata: The Cable TV Equipment Traders & Manufacturers Association (CTMA), in association with East Kolkata Nagrik Foundation (EKNF), organised a Free Eye Operation Camp for more than 100 cataract patients from economically weaker sections of society at Lake Town, Kolkata, on Sunday. Dr Shiladitya Mukherjee, an eminent eye surgeon; Dr Manoj Baidy; and his team performed phaco surgeries on needy patients at the Foundation’s Lake Town facility. The camp, which has become an annual hallmark of CTMA’s social welfare calendar, saw more than 100 patients – predominantly elderly – receive sight-restoring surgical care free of charge.

“CTMA has remained steadfast in its commitment to serving those who lack access to essential medical care. This Free Eye Operation Camp is a reflection of our belief that quality healthcare must not be a privilege of the few. We are deeply grateful to Dr Shiladitya, Dr Baidy, and his team – our valued partners at East Kolkata Nagrik Foundation – for their dedication and expertise in making this initiative a resounding success year after year. CTMA had earlier donated specialised eye-care equipment to the Foundation to strengthen its capacity to serve the general public, particularly those from the most vulnerable sections of society, said Mr Pawan Jajodia, Treasurer, CTMA.

“This initiative exemplifies the spirit of giving back to society that has always been at the core of CTMA’s values. Before the surgeries, patients underwent a comprehensive battery of preoperative medical tests, including ECG, blood tests, ultrasonography, and biometric assessments.
