সম্মেলনটির আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন করেন মি. কৃষ্ণন ভেনুগোপাল, প্রেসিডেন্ট, IIA ইন্ডিয়া। উদ্বোধনী অধিবেশনে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মি. নীরজ বানসাল, হেড – ইন্ডিয়া গ্লোবাল, KPMG। তিনি বৈশ্বিক ঝুঁকির পরিবর্তনশীল ধারা, বোর্ডের প্রত্যাশা এবং শক্তিশালী ও স্থিতিশীল নিয়ন্ত্রণ কাঠামোর গুরুত্ব সম্পর্কে তাঁর মতামত তুলে ধরেন। “ভারত আর বিচ্ছিন্ন অর্থনীতি নয়। আজকের দিনে ব্যবসা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলো একাধিক ভৌগোলিক অঞ্চলে পরিচালিত হচ্ছে এবং বৈশ্বিক ভূ-রাজনৈতিক পরিস্থিতি, সাইবার ঝুঁকি এবং দ্রুত পরিবর্তনশীল প্রযুক্তির দ্বারা প্রভাবিত হচ্ছে। এমন পরিস্থিতিতে অভ্যন্তরীণ নিরীক্ষকদের এই ঝুঁকিগুলোকে নিয়মিত পর্যবেক্ষণ করা এবং সংস্থাগুলিকে তাদের শাসন ও নিয়ন্ত্রণ কাঠামোকে আরও শক্তিশালী করতে সহায়তা করা প্রত্যাশিত,” বলেন অবিন মুখোপাধ্যায়, প্রেসিডেন্ট, IIA ইন্ডিয়া – কলকাতা চ্যাপ্টার।

সম্মেলনের মূল প্রতিপাদ্য ছিল “ইন্টারনাল অডিট: কন্ট্রোল – রিস্ক – গভর্নেন্স অ্যান্ড বিয়ন্ড”, যা বর্তমানের জটিল ও পারস্পরিকভাবে সংযুক্ত বৈশ্বিক পরিবেশে অভ্যন্তরীণ নিরীক্ষার দ্রুত বিস্তৃত পরিসর এবং এর ক্রমবর্ধমান কৌশলগত গুরুত্বকে প্রতিফলিত করে। মুখোপাধ্যায় উল্লেখ করেন যে, সাম্প্রতিক বছরগুলিতে অভ্যন্তরীণ নিরীক্ষা কার্যক্রমে উল্লেখযোগ্য পরিবর্তন ঘটেছে। অতীতে যেখানে অভ্যন্তরীণ নিরীক্ষকদের মূল দায়িত্ব ছিল লেনদেন যাচাই করা এবং নিয়ম মেনে চলা নিশ্চিত করা, সেখানে এখন তাদের কাছ থেকে উদীয়মান ঝুঁকি মূল্যায়ন করা, শাসন ব্যবস্থাকে আরও শক্তিশালী করা এবং ঝুঁকি-ভিত্তিক পদ্ধতি গ্রহণের মাধ্যমে একটি সংস্থার সামগ্রিক বিকাশে আরও বিস্তৃত ভূমিকা পালনের প্রত্যাশা করা হচ্ছে।

“একই সঙ্গে প্রযুক্তি নিজেই একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ঝুঁকির ক্ষেত্র হিসেবে উঠে আসছে। প্রতারকরা ক্রমশ উন্নত প্রযুক্তিগত সরঞ্জাম ব্যবহার করে ভুয়া নথি তৈরি করা বা ফিশিং আক্রমণ চালানোর চেষ্টা করছে। তাই সংস্থাগুলিকে নিজেদের সুরক্ষার জন্য আরও শক্তিশালী নিয়ন্ত্রণ ব্যবস্থা এবং ধারাবাহিক পর্যবেক্ষণ প্রক্রিয়া গড়ে তুলতে হবে,” বলেন মুখোপাধ্যায়। তিনি আরও জোর দিয়ে বলেন যে, ঝুঁকির পরিবেশ দ্রুত পরিবর্তিত হওয়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে বিশেষায়িত পেশাদারদের প্রয়োজনীয়তা এবং ধারাবাহিকভাবে নতুন দক্ষতা অর্জন (রিস্কিলিং) অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ।“পরিবর্তনের গতি এখন অত্যন্ত দ্রুত হয়ে উঠেছে। আগে প্রযুক্তির পরিবর্তনের চক্র এক দশক ধরে বিকশিত হতো, কিন্তু আজ তা কয়েক মাসের মধ্যেই বদলে যেতে পারে। তাই অভ্যন্তরীণ নিরীক্ষকদের কার্যকর থাকতে হলে ধারাবাহিক শিক্ষা ও পেশাগত প্রশিক্ষণ অত্যন্ত অপরিহার্য,” তিনি মন্তব্য করেন।

Kolkata, 14 March 2026: Geopolitical developments, economic volatility, rapid digitalisation, cyber threats, evolving regulatory expectations, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence are reshaping the global risk landscape for organisations and posing new challenges for traditional governance and control systems. Against this backdrop, internal auditors are playing an increasingly strategic role in helping organisations anticipate risks and strengthen governance frameworks, a theme that was highlighted at the Annual Conference 2026 of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) India – Calcutta Chapter held on March 14. The event brought together internal audit professionals, risk practitioners, and industry leaders to discuss the expanding role of internal audit in enhancing corporate governance.

The conference was formally inaugurated by Mr Krishnan Venugopal, president, IIA India. The inaugural session was graced by Mr Neeraj Bansal, Head – India Global, KPMG, as the Chief Guest, who shared perspectives on evolving global risks, board expectations, and the importance of resilient control frameworks. India is no longer an isolated economy. Businesses today operate across multiple geographies and are influenced by global geopolitical developments, cyber risks, and rapidly evolving technologies. In such an environment, internal auditors are expected to continuously monitor these risks and help organisations strengthen their governance and control frameworks,” said Abin Mukhopadhyay, President, IIA India – Calcutta Chapter. The conference was centred on the theme “Internal Audit: Control – Risk – Governance and Beyond”, reflecting the rapidly expanding scope and strategic relevance of internal audit in today’s complex and interconnected global environment.

Mukhopadhyay noted that the internal audit function has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. While internal auditors were traditionally focused on verifying transactions and ensuring compliance, they are expected to assess emerging risks, strengthen governance systems, and play a broader role in the holistic growth of an organisation.

Fraudsters are increasingly using sophisticated tools to generate fake documentation or launch phishing attacks. Organisations therefore need stronger controls and continuous monitoring mechanisms to protect themselves,” Mukhopadhyay said. He also emphasised the need for specialised professionals and sustained reskilling as the risk environment evolves rapidly. “The pace of change has accelerated dramatically. Earlier technology cycles evolved over a decade; today, they can shift within months. This makes continuous learning and professional training essential for internal auditors to remain effective,” he observed.

The conference brought together experts from all over India who spoke on the paradigm shift of internal audit from compliance assurance to a strategic advisory role. The technical sessions explored how internal audit must evolve beyond traditional assurance roles to become forward-looking, insight-driven partners to management and boards. There were two panel discussions, which were chaired by industry and professional firm experts and were hugely appreciated by participants. A souvenir is also published on this occasion with articles from eminent professional experts under the editorship of Mr Suman Chaudhuri, past president and BOG member.

The visitors started the match brightly, putting early pressure on the hosts. However, their momentum was halted when East Bengal broke the deadlock in the 10th minute against the run of play. Edmund Lalrindika received the ball inside the box and squared it to Youssef Ezzejjari, who Aibanbha Dohling brought down. Soukouna’s injury-time strike gives Rajasthan United their first win of IFL 2025-26

Jaipur, Friday, March 13, 2026: A late strike by Amadou Soukouna in injury time ensured Rajasthan United edged past Namdhari Sports Academy 3-2 in a thrilling encounter of the Indian Football League 2025-26 at the Vidhyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur on Friday, March 13, 2026. Amadou Soukouna gave the home side the lead in the 13th minute before Pedro Astray doubled the advantage in the 57th. Namdhari mounted a late comeback in the final ten minutes, levelling the score through Manvir Singh’s (83) and Najib Ibrahim’s (90) goals. However, Soukouna struck again in the sixth minute of stoppage time to ensure the first win of the season for Rajasthan United.

The home side climbed to fourth in the table with as many points from three matches, while Namdhari remains ninth with two points from three games. Rajasthan United FC head coach Vikrant Sharma made five changes for his first home match of the season, bringing in Gautam Virwani, Thomyo L. Shimray, Joseph Lalvenhina, Jonathan Reis, and Abdul Samed Ango in place of William Pauliankhum, Lalfelkina, Pangambam Naoba Meitei, Gerard Artigas, and Cedric Gogoua. The home side, who were lively from the start of the second half, put Namdhari’s defence under pressure and doubled their advantage 12 minutes after the resumption. Jonathan Reis forced a save from the goalkeeper with a curling effort from the edge of the box. The rebound fell kindly to Pedro Astray, who was free inside the area, and the Spaniard showed outstanding composure to slot the ball home for his second goal of the season. Namdhari was reduced to 10 men when Moro was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in as many minutes. The Ghanaian defender was first booked for a foul on Naoba Meitei and, still unhappy with the decision, showed his dissent to the referee, who had little choice but to issue a yellow card for the second time, leaving Namdhari to play the remainder of the match with 10 men.

The visitors halved the deficit seven minutes from time through Manvir Singh. The forward beat the offside trap to latch on to a deflected cross from midfield and calmly slotted the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper. Seven minutes later, Namdhari dramatically levelled the scores. Jaskaranpreet Singh made a fine run down the right wing and delivered a low cross across the six-yard box that evaded the goalkeeper’s outstretched hands. Najib Ibrahim arrived ahead of two defenders to finish expertly. As the match appeared to be heading towards a draw, Rajasthan United carved out one final chance that proved decisive in injury time. Dempo comes from behind to hold Chanmari

Aizawl, Thursday, March 12, 2026: Chanmari DC and Dempo SC played out a 2-2 draw in the first match of Gameweek 3 of Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26 Stage 1 at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Aizawl on Thursday. Chanmari took an early lead through Suangaihmuna’s header in the 15th minute and doubled their advantage in the 43rd minute when Malsawmsanga finished a well-worked move from close range. Dempo pulled one back just before half-time as Marcus Joseph set up Sebastián Gutiérrez in the 45th minute. The hosts were reduced to ten men in the 69th minute after Malsawmsanga Renthlei was shown a red card. Dempo capitalised on the advantage in the 81st minute, when Marcus Joseph scored a powerful strike to level the match at 2-2. A 26th-minute Pyari cross into the box saw Sanfida Nongrum charge at the near post, but she only managed to collide with the opposition keeper.

India finally levelled the score when they got a free-kick some 25 yards out. Huang Ke-sin’s off-the-ball push on Soumya in the 38th minute got the video assistant referee into action, as a possible red card offence was being checked. However, the VAR deemed the referee’s original decision of a yellow card to Huang was correct. A minute later, Manisha produced a thunderous free kick that struck the underside of the crossbar and bounced out of play before being cleared. Delhi looked to respond quickly, with midfielder Mohammed Amin seeing his effort from distance blocked in the fifth minute before firing another shot narrowly wide ten minutes later. However, Mumbai doubled their advantage in the 17th minute through a well-worked attacking move. Mumbai came close to restoring their two-goal cushion in the 73rd minute when Mishra’s header from a Fernandes cross was comfortably saved by SC Delhi goalkeeper Nora Fernandes. However, Delhi found the equaliser moments later. Babović produced an impressive run through the Mumbai defence before calmly finishing from close range to level the scoring at 2-2 in the 73rd minute. The match opened up in the closing stages as both teams searched for a winner. Franklin Nazareth fired wide from a distance for Mumbai in the 78th minute, while Zothanpuia saw his long-range effort blocked 10 minutes later. Delhi nearly snatched victory deep into stoppage time when Devendra Murgaokar met a cross from Ramhlunchhunga, but his header drifted wide of the target. The final whistle confirmed a 2-2 draw, with SC Delhi staging a determined comeback to claim their first point of the season against Mumbai City FC.

Kolkata, 12th March 2026: The Kidney Care Society, in association with Nephrocare India, one of the most esteemed kidney care institutions in the country, observed World Kidney Day 2026 by organizing a Scientific Symposium aimed at spreading awareness about kidney health and the prevention of chronic kidney disease. The event was held today at The Stadel, Kolkata. The program aligned with the global World Kidney Day theme “Kidney Health for All – Caring for People, Protecting the Planet.” The symposium aimed to educate both the public and healthcare professionals about early diagnosis, prevention, and holistic management of kidney diseases. The event brought together leading nephrologists and healthcare experts who discussed important aspects of kidney health, including managing creatinine levels, delaying dialysis, redefining CKD care, and lifestyle interventions to improve kidney function.

The program began with an Inauguration Ceremony and Lamp Lighting, followed by the inaugural address by renowned nephrologist Dr. Pratim Sengupta. The session was also graced by Chief Guest Prof. Dilip Baidya, who addressed the gathering. নদিয়া জেলা প্রশাসন এবং রানাঘাট মহকুমা শাসকের যৌথ উদ্যোগে ১২ মার্চ, ২০২৬ তারিখে রানাঘাট পৌরসভার ডা: বি. সি. রায় অডিটোরিয়ামে প্রবীণদের সুরক্ষা ও নারীদের কল্যাণে বিশেষ সচেতনতা শিবির আয়োজিত হল। এদিনের শিবিরের প্রধান লক্ষ্য ছিল রাজ্য সরকারের ‘স্টেট অ্যাকশন প্ল্যান ফর সিনিয়র সিটিজেন্স’ (SAP SrC)-এর সুযোগ-সুবিধাগুলো সাধারণ মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছে দেওয়া । বক্তারা প্রবীণদের অধিকার এবং তাঁদের সামাজিক সুরক্ষার ওপর বিশেষ জোর দেন। স্মার্টফোন ব্যবহার, অনলাইনে টাকা লেনদেন এবং ব্যক্তিগত তথ্যের নিরাপত্তা সম্পর্কে প্রবীণদের সচেতন করতে ডিজিটাল ও আর্থিক সাক্ষরতার ওপর আলোকপাত করা হয়। তৃণমূল স্তরে সচেতনতা ছড়িয়ে দিতে মহকুমা শাসকের আহ্বানে অনুষ্ঠানে সক্রিয়ভাবে যোগ দিয়েছিলেন ১০ জন আশা কর্মী, ২০ জন আইসিডিএস কর্মী, ৫ জন সুপারভাইজার এবং রানাঘাট পৌরসভার ২০ জন স্বনির্ভর গোষ্ঠীর সদস্যা । এঁদের পাশাপাশি এগিয়ে এসেছিল বেশ কিছু এনজিও, বাদ যায়নি ধর্মগুরুরাও।

Women’s Health Insurance Ownership Rises, But Adequacy Gap Remains: Care Health Insurance

March 2026: Indian women are joining the workforce in record numbers, with their employment nearly doubling to over 40% and 1.56 crore women entering formal jobs in the past seven years, according to recent government data. Yet despite rising economic participation and expanding gender-focused policy allocations, women’s personal health insurance ownership remains disproportionately low, exposing a persistent self-protection gap.

On International Women’s Day, Care Health Insurance highlights that women proposers currently account for 28–30% of its individual health insurance portfolio, with this share increasing consistently over the past few years. The average sum insured opted for by women is in the range of ₹10–15 lakh. These findings indicate that although ownership and coverage adequacy challenges remain, awareness around independent and sufficient health coverage is increasing amid rising medical inflation and escalating hospitalisation costs.

Manish Dodeja, Chief Operating Officer, Care Health Insurance, said, “Women have traditionally been the health anchors of their families, often prioritising everyone else’s well-being before their own. ” Even as more women take charge of household financial and healthcare decisions, their own long-term health security has often taken a back seat. That dynamic is now beginning to change. Women proposers today account for nearly a quarter of our individual policy base, and this share has been rising steadily. However, there remains meaningful headroom to strengthen coverage adequacy. As medical costs continue to rise, women must move to becoming primary policyholders with comprehensive and sustained health insurance.”

Care Health Insurance also highlights that women are increasingly opting for riders that strengthen coverage beyond standard hospitalisation benefits. These include maternity benefits such as IVF and surrogacy as per policy terms, OPD benefits for outpatient consultations and diagnostics, automatic recharge features that reinstate the sum insured if exhausted during the policy year, and instant cover options that reduce waiting periods for select treatments. Additionally, a growing number of women are choosing wellness-linked enhancements, including women-specific health check-ups and return-of-premium benefits tied to activity milestones, signalling a broader shift towards sustained, preventive, and proactive health security.

Recent public health statistics further indicate that non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cervical and breast cancer, along with persistent anaemia, are among the most prevalent and rising health concerns affecting Indian women, underscoring the growing health and financial risks across age groups.

According to the latest annual report published by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), women account for approximately 34% of life insurance policyholders. However, their presence in distribution remains lower at roughly 29% in standalone health insurers and 32% across the overall insurance industry, highlighting a broader participation imbalance within the insurance ecosystem.

With medical inflation rising and treatment journeys becoming more prolonged, closing both the participation and adequacy gap remains critical to strengthening women’s long-term financial resilience and reducing financial vulnerability.
