ইন্দ্রজিৎ আইচঃ বরানগর নামক জনপদের উল্লেখ আছে মধ্যযুগীয় বাংলা সাহিত্যে। তাই বয়স মাহাত্ম্যে শহর কলকাতার অগ্রজ বরানগর। এই বরানগর যেমন শ্রীচৈতন্য, রামকৃষ্ণ পরমহংস, স্বামী বিবেকানন্দ, গিরিশচন্দ্র ঘোষ, ভগিনী নিবেদিতা, রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর, নেতাজী সুভাষচন্দ্র বসুর পদধূলি ধন্য তেমনি বরানগরের ইতিহাসে মানিক বন্ধোপাধ্যায়, শিশির ভাদুড়ী,সঞ্জীব চট্টোপাধ্যায়ের নামও সমান ভাবে স্মরণীয়। এই জনপদের প্রাচীন বনেদি বাড়িগুলি আজও স্থাপত্য শিল্প নিয়ে সুপ্রাচীন ইতিহাসের সাক্ষ্য বহন করছে। অগ্নি যুগের বিপ্লবীদের স্মৃতি চিহ্ন আজও বরানগরের আনাচে কানাচে ছড়িয়ে আছে। এহেন বরানগরের ইতিহাসে এই প্রথম অনুষ্ঠিত হল এক অভিনব ইলিশ উৎসব। চিরকালই বাঙালিদের নানান উৎসবে ইলিশের ম-ম গন্ধে মেতে ওঠার গল্পের শেষ নেই। যুগে যুগে মাছে-ভাতে বাঙালি জাতি এই রূপালী শস্যের কদর করে এসেছে। বলা যেতে পারে “রজতবর্ণ মনোহরদর্শন মৎস্যকুলরাজ মহান ইলিশ।” তাই এই ইলিশ উৎসবের প্রধান দুই হোতা সঞ্জীব বসাক ও সৌরভ মন্ডলের মূল বক্তব্য “ইলিশ এক দেহে এতটা প্রতিভা ধারণ করে, যে শুধু তাকে দিয়েই তৈরি হতে পারে পঞ্চপদি নানান স্বাদযুক্ত বিভিন্ন ভোজন উপযুক্ত পদের সম্ভার। ইলিশের পাতুরি, ইলিশের ডিমের চচ্চড়ি, ইলিশের ভাপা, ইলিশের জাফরানি, মেথি ইলিশ, রশুন নারকেল ইলিশ, ইলিশ হরিয়ালি, ইলিশের শুক্ত, ইলিশের ভুনা খিচুড়ি, ইলিশ বিরিয়ানি, ইলিশ পালং, ইলিশ ভর্তা, ইলিশ কোর্মা, ইলিশের টক কি নেই! অর্থাৎ এই ভোজন উৎসবের শুরু থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত শুধুই ইলিশ।” গত ১৭ই জুলাই, রবিবার নবোদয় ক্লাব প্রাঙ্গনে, দুপুর ১২টা থেকে রাত ১০টা পর্যন্ত ছিল রীতিমতো রাজকীয় খাওয়ার আয়োজন! উক্ত দিনে এই অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন সমাজের নানান বিশিষ্ট ও কৃতি ব্যক্তিবর্গ।
সেদিন অতিথি তালিকায় ছিলেন পারমিতা মুন্সী ভট্টাচার্য (স্ক্রিপ্ট রাইটার ও ফিল্ম ডিরেক্টর)- এখানে আকাশ নীল, গুড্ডু গুড়িয়া, জয় বাবা লোকনাথ, গোধূলী আলাপ ইত্যাদি বহু সিরিয়ালের চিত্রনাট্যকার। লিখেছেন “মাইকেল”, “লাইম লাইট” “The Sun goes around the Earth” এর মতো মুভি স্ক্রিপ্ট। নিজের পরিচালিত সিনেমা “গুহামনব”. পেয়েছেন বেস্ট ডেবিউ ডিরেক্টর এওয়ারর্ড।
সুদীপ ভট্টাচার্য (আর্ট ডিরেক্টর)- “হার্বার্ট”, “আবার অরণ্যে”, ” একলা আকাশ” ইত্যাদি প্রচুর সিনেমা ও সিরিয়ালের আর্ট ডিরেক্টর।
মধুমিতা চক্রবর্তী- বিখ্যাত অভিনেত্রী। “লক্ষ্মী কাকীমা সুপারস্টার” জি বাংলা।

Indrajit Aich: Baranagar is mentioned in medieval Bengali literature. Therefore, baranagar is the oldest city of Kolkata in the glory of age. It can be said that “Rajatvarna Manohardarshan Matsyakulraj is the great Ilish. ” Therefore, the main statement of sanjeev basak and saurabh mandal, the two main hotas of this festival of ilish, is that “ilish possesses so much talent in one body, that only it can be made with it a variety of different dishes with different flavors of panchapad. Ilish’s paturi, ilish’s egg chachdi, ilish’s bhapa, ilish’s saffron, fenugreek ilish, roshun coconut ilish, ilish hariali, ilish’s dry, ilish roast khichuri, ilish biriyani, ilish spinach, ilish bharta, ilish korma, ilish sour is not there!
