মালদা: কেউ একশো আবার কেউ পাঁচশো ন’টি গ্রামের মানুষরা নিজেরাই চাঁদা তুলে তৈরি করে ফেললেন আস্ত একটি শ্মশান। শশাঙ্কের রাজধানী গৌড় এলাকায় অবস্থিত দখল গ্রামে তৈরি করা হয়েছে, এই শ্মশান। মহদীপুর গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েতের অন্তর্গত দখল গ্রাম, বারদুয়ারি সহ ন’টি গ্রামের মানুষজন নিজেরাই কেউ ১০০ কেউ আবার ৫০০ টাকা চাঁদা দিয়ে প্রায় ১৭ লক্ষ টাকা ব্যয় তৈরি করেছেন এই শ্মশান। ভাগরথী নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত আমবাগান ঘেরা এই শ্মশান। শুধু চাঁদা তুলে নয়, গ্রামবাসীরা একত্রিত হয়ে জমি দান করে প্রায় তিন বিঘা জমির উপর তৈরি হয়েছে এই শ্মশান। রবিবার এই শ্মশানের আনুষ্ঠানিক উদ্বোধন করা হয়। উপস্থিত ছিলেন ইংলিশবাজার ব্লকের বিডিও সৌগত চৌধুরী, ইংলিশ বাজার পঞ্চায়েত সমিতির সভাপতি লিপিকা বর্মন ঘোষ, বিশিষ্ট সমাজসেবী প্রসেনজিৎ ঘোষ সহ অন্যান্যরা। জানা যায় এই এলাকায় এতদিন কোন শ্মশান এবং চুল্লি ছিল না। ফলে প্রিয়জনরা মারা গেলে দাহ করতে নানা রকম সমস্যার মধ্যে পড়তে হত গ্রামবাসীদের। তাই গ্রামবাসীরা নিজেরাই একত্রিত হয়ে উদ্যোগ নিয়ে একটি পাকা চুল্লি এবং শ্মশানের মন্দির তৈরি করলেন। গ্রামবাসীরা জানান তাঁরা ন’টি গ্রামের মানুষজন নিজেরা উদ্যোগ নিয়ে এই শ্মশান এবং চুল্লি তৈরি করেছেন। শ্মশানের অবশিষ্ট কাজ নিজস্ব উদ্যোগে করার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছেন বিশিষ্ট সমাজসেবী প্রসেনজিৎ ঘোষ। তার এই উদ্যোগকে সাধুবাদ জানিয়েছেন তারা। অন্যদিকে এই বিষয় ইংলিশবাজার ব্লকের বিডিও সৌগত চৌধুরী জানান, গ্রামবাসীরা নিজেরাই উদ্যোগ নিয়ে এই শ্মশান তৈরি করেছেন। আগামীতে শ্মশানের পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়নে কোন সরকারি সাহায্য লাগলে বিভিন্ন প্রকল্পের মাধ্যমে পূরণের আশ্বাস দিয়েছেন বিডিও। অন্যদিকে এই বিষয়ে ইংলিশ বাজার পঞ্চায়েত সমিতির সভাপতি লিপিকা বর্মন ঘোষ জানান, গ্রামবাসীরা নিজেরা উদ্যোগ নিয়ে এই শ্মশান তৈরি করেছেন সত্যি তা প্রশংসনীয়। আজ তার উদ্বোধন করা হল।
Malda: Some hundred and some five hundred and nine villages have built a crematorium on their own. This cremation ground has been built in the village of Occupation located in Gaur area of The Capital of Shashanka. The people of nine villages, including Occupy village, Barduari under Mahadipur gram panchayat, have themselves built this cremation ground at a cost of about Rs 17 lakh with a donation of Rs 100 and Rs 500. This cremation ground is surrounded by mango orchards located on the banks of the Bhagarathi river. Not only by raising funds, the villagers got together and donated the land and built this cremation ground on about three bighas of land. The crematorium was formally inaugurated on Sunday. Bdo of Englishbazar block Saugata Chowdhury, English Bazar Panchayat Samiti President Lipika Burman Ghosh, eminent social worker Prasenjit Ghosh and others were present on the occasion. It is known that there were no crematoriums and furnaces in the area so far. As a result, when the loved ones died, the villagers had to face various problems to cremate. So the villagers themselves came together and took the initiative and built a pucca furnace and a temple of the cremation ground. The villagers said that the people of the nine villages took their own initiative and built these crematoriums and furnaces. Eminent social worker Prasenjit Ghosh has promised to do the remaining work of the crematorium on his own initiative. They applauded his initiative. On the other hand, BDO of Englishbazar block Saugata Chowdhury said that the villagers have built this crematorium on their own initiative. The BDO has assured to meet any government assistance for the development of the infrastructure of the crematorium through various projects in the future. On the other hand, English Bazar Panchayat Samiti President Lipika Barman Ghosh said that it is commendable that the villagers have built this crematorium on their own initiative. It was inaugurated today.
