মেডিকেল কলেজের ছয় তলা ছাদ থেকে মারণ ঝাঁপ মহিলা রোগীর

মালদা, ৪ আগস্ট। মেডিকেল কলেজের ছয় তলা ছাদ থেকে মারণ ঝাঁপ মহিলা রোগীর। আর নিচে পড়ে ঘটনাস্থলে মৃত্যু হলো ২৬ বছর বয়সী ওই রোগীর । এই ঘটনাই আবারও মালদা মেডিকেল কলেজের নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা নিয়ে বিস্তর অভিযোগ উঠতে উঠতে শুরু করেছে। বৃহস্পতিবার সকাল সাড়ে এগারোটা নাগাদ ওই মহিলার মৃত্যুর ঘটনার পর তীব্র চাঞ্চল্য ছড়িয়ে পড়ে মেডিকেল কলেজ সংলগ্ন এলাকায় । তড়িঘড়ি অচৈতন্য এবং রক্তাক্ত অবস্থায় ওই মহিলাকে মেডিকেল কলেজের জরুরী বিভাগে নিয়ে গেলে চিকিৎসাকেরা মৃত বলে জানিয়ে দেয়। মেডিকেল কলেজ সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, মৃত ওই মহিলা রোগীর নাম সাবেরা খাতুন (২৬)। তার বাড়ি রতুয়া থানার মাগুরা এলাকায়। আংশিক মানসিক ভারসাম্যহীন ছিল ওই মহিলা। এদিন এক আত্মীয়ের সঙ্গে মেডিকেল কলেজের আউটডোরে ডাক্তার দেখাতে আসে সে। এরই মাঝে এই দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটে।
মৃতের এক দাদা মুরশেদ রহমান জানিয়েছেন , বোনকে নিয়ে মেডিকেল কলেজের আউটডোরে ডাক্তার দেখাতে এসেছিলাম। বোন আংশিক মানসিক ভারসাম্যহীন ছিল । ওকে নিচে বসিয়ে ছয় তলার বিল্ডিং-এ গিয়েছিলাম কুপনের মাধ্যমে ডাক্তারের কাছে নাম লেখাতে। এরই মধ্যে বোন হঠাৎ করে মেডিকেল কলেজের আউটডোরের এই ছয় তলা বিল্ডিং-এর ছাদে উঠে পড়ে। সেখান থেকেই পড়ে যায়। ছাদের উপর থেকে নিজেই ঝাঁপ দিয়েছে না বমি করতে গিয়ে বেসামাল হয়ে পড়েছে কিছুই বুঝতে পারছি না।
মৃত রোগীর আত্মীয়দের অভিযোগ, মেডিকেল কলেজের সবথেকে উপর তলার ছাদের দরজার যদি তালা বন্দি থাকতো, তাহলে এই দুর্ঘটনাটি ঘটতো না। এমনকি মেডিকেল কলেজের নিরাপত্তা রক্ষীরাও ছিল না‌। যাতে করে তার বোনকে ওপরে যেতে বাধা দিতে পারতো । সকলের নজর এড়িয়ে ওপরের ছাদে উঠে যাওয়াই পরই চয় তলা ছাদ থেকে পড়ে গিয়ে মৃত্যু হয়েছে আমার বোনের।
মেডিকেল কলেজের আউটডোর সামনে প্রত্যক্ষদর্শী কয়েকজন মহিলারা জানিয়েছেন, আউটডোরের ছয় তলার ওপর হঠাৎ করে রেলিঙে ওই মেয়েটিকে ঘোরাফেরা করতে দেখছিলাম। আমরা নিচ থেকে চিৎকার চেঁচামেচি করি। মেডিকেল কলেজের নিরাপত্তা রক্ষীদেরও ডাকার চেষ্টা করি। কিন্তু ওরা সাহায্য না করে কেউ কেউ মোবাইলে ছবি তুলতে শুরু করে দেয় । চোখের সামনে নিচে ঝাঁপ দিয়ে প্রাণ চলে যায় মহিলা রোগীর।
এদিকে মেডিকেল কলেজের প্রকাশ্যে দিবালোকে এরকম দুর্ঘটনার পর রীতিমতো সেখানকার নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা নিয়ে তুমুল চাঞ্চল্য ছড়িয়েছে। এর আগেও মেডিকেল কলেজে এরকম দুর্ঘটনা ঘটেছে বলে অভিযোগ। কিন্তু তারপরও হুঁশ ফেরেনি কর্তৃপক্ষের বলে অভিযোগ । মালদা মেডিকেল কলেজের ভাইস প্রিন্সিপাল ডা: পুরঞ্জয় সাহা জানিয়েছেন, বিষয়টি শুনেছি। কিভাবে ঘটনাটি ঘটলো তা পরিষ্কারভাবে বলতে পারব না। মেডিকেল কলেজের সিসি ক্যামেরা রয়েছে। অবশ্যই বিষয়টি খতিয়ে দেখা হবে। কোথাও কোনো গাফিলতি থাকলে প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।

Murshed Rahman, one of the grandfathers of the deceased, said he had come with his sister to see a doctor outside the medical college. The sister was partially mentally unstable. I sat him down and went to the six-story building to write his name to the doctor with a coupon. In the meantime, the sister suddenly climbed on to the roof of this six-storey building outside the medical college. It falls from there. I don’t understand whether he jumped from the roof himself or vomited.

The relatives of the deceased patient alleged that had the terrace door on the top floor of the medical college been locked, the accident would not have happened. There were not even security guards at the medical college. So that he could have prevented his sister from going upstairs. My sister died after falling from the roof of the fifth floor after she went up to the top roof, avoiding everyone’s attention.
Some of the women who witnessed the outdoor front of the medical college said they saw the girl suddenly moving on the railings on the sixth floor of the outdoor. We shout from below. I also tried to call the security guards of the medical college. But without helping them, some people started taking pictures on their mobile phones. The female patient died by jumping down in front of her eyes. Meanwhile, after such an accident in broad daylight in the medical college, there has been a lot of confusion about the safety measures there. Such an accident has allegedly taken place in the medical college before. However, the authorities did not budge. Dr Puranjay Saha, vice-principal of Malda Medical College, said he had heard about it. I can’t say exactly how it happened. The medical college has CC cameras. Of course the matter will be looked into. If there is any negligence anywhere, necessary action will be taken.
