মালদা, ৫ আগস্ট । রক্ষকই যেন হলো ভক্ষক। লাঠি দিয়ে পিটিয়ে এবং শ্বাসরোধ করে স্ত্রীকে খুন করার অভিযোগ উঠলো পুলিশ কর্মী স্বামীর বিরুদ্ধে। এমন কি স্ত্রীকে খুন করার পর বাড়ি থেকে সামান্য দূরে একটি বাগানের মধ্যে গাছে শাড়ি দিয়ে ঝুলিয়ে দেওয়া হয় বলে অভিযোগ। বিষয়টি জানাজানি হতেই ক্ষিপ্ত হয়ে ওঠেন গ্রামবাসীরা। গণপিটুনির হাত থেকে রক্ষা পেতে অবশেষে সংশ্লিষ্ট থানায় অভিযুক্ত নিজেই আত্মসমর্পণ করেন। শুক্রবার সকালে চাঞ্চল্যকর ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে পুকুরিয়া থানার পীরগঞ্জ গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েতের খনিবাথান এলাকায়। এদিকেই এই ঘটনার খবর পেয়ে ওই এলাকায় তদন্তে পৌঁছায় পুখুরিয়া থানার পুলিশ । মৃত গৃহবধূর দেহ উদ্ধারের পর মালদা মেডিকেল কলেজের মর্গে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য পাঠানোর ব্যবস্থা করে পুলিশ। এই ঘটনায় অভিযুক্ত পুলিশ কর্মী জয়ন্ত মন্ডলের বিরুদ্ধে মৃতের পরিবার সংশ্লিষ্ট থানায় লিখিত অভিযোগ দায়ের করেছেন।
পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, মৃত গৃহবধূর নাম মাম্পি মন্ডল (২৫)। তার বাবার বাড়ি পুরাতন মালদা থানার পোপরা এলাকায়। গত সাত বছর আগে পুখুরিয়ার বাসিন্দা পেশায় পুলিশ কর্মী। জয়ন্ত মন্ডলের সঙ্গে বিয়ে হয় মাম্পির। তাদের চার এবং এক বছরের দুই নাবালক পুত্র সন্তান রয়েছে। গৃহবধূর এক দিদি রিঙ্কি মন্ডল পুলিশকে অভিযোগে জানিয়েছেন, যে লাঠি নিয়ে জামাই জয়ন্ত মন্ডল ডিউটি করতো। সেই লাঠি দিয়েই বাড়িতে এসে তার বোনকে প্রতিনিয়ত মারধর করে অত্যাচার চালাতো। জামায় আমার বোনকে বাজে সন্দেহ করতো । এনিয়ে বোন মাম্পি মন্ডলকে পিটিয়ে খুন করার পর বাড়ি থেকে সামান্য দূরে আম গাছে ঝুলিয়ে দেওয়া হয়। মৃতের পরিবারের আরো অভিযোগ, মাম্পি মন্ডলের যখন মৃতদেহটি উদ্ধার করে পুলিশ। তখন আম গাছের সঙ্গে গলায় শাড়ি জড়ানো অবস্থায় ছিল। মৃতদেহটি হাঁটুভাজ করা অবস্থায় জঙ্গলের মধ্যেই পড়েছিল। পুরো ঘটনাটি নিয়ে অভিযুক্ত পুলিশ কর্মীর বিরুদ্ধে দৃষ্টান্তমূলক শাস্তির দাবি জানিয়েছেন গ্রামবাসীরা।
পুখুরিয়া থানার পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, মৃত গৃহবধুর পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে অভিযোগের ভিত্তিতে বিষয়টি তদন্ত করে দেখা হচ্ছে । যার বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ সেই জয়ন্ত মন্ডল থানায় আত্মসমর্পণ করেছে। তাকে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করা হচ্ছে। মৃত্যুর প্রকৃত কারণ সম্পর্কে ময়না তদন্ত রিপোর্ট হাতে পাওয়ার পরেই বলা যাবে।

The accused finally surrendered himself at the concerned police station to escape the beating. The sensational incident took place on Friday morning in The minebathan area of Pirganj gram panchayat under Pukaria police station. Meanwhile, the police of Pukhuria police station reached the area after getting information about the incident. After recovering the body of the deceased housewife, the police arranged to send it for postmortem to the mortuary of Malda Medical College. The family of the deceased has lodged a written complaint with the concerned police station against the accused policeman Jayant Mandal in the incident.
According to police sources, the deceased housewife has been identified as Mampi Mondal (25). His father’s house is in The Popera area of old Malda police station. A resident of Pukhuria seven years ago is a policeman by profession. Mampi is married to Jayanta Mandal. They have two minor sons aged four and one. Rinki Mondal, one of the housewives’ sisters, told the police in her complaint that son-in-law Jayanta Mondal was on duty with a stick. He used to come home with that stick and beat his sister constantly and torture her. I used to have bad doubts about my sister in my clothes. His sister Mampi Mondal was beaten to death and hanged from a mango tree a little away from the house. The family of the deceased also alleged that the body of Mampi Mandal was recovered by the police when it was recovered by the police. At that time, the saree was tied around the neck with the mango tree. The body lay in the forest with its knees crossed. The villagers have demanded exemplary punishment against the accused police personnel over the entire incident.
Police from Pukhuria police station said the matter is being investigated on the basis of a complaint lodged by the family of the deceased housewife. Jayant Mandal against whom the complaint is lodged has surrendered at the police station. He is being questioned. The actual cause of death can be said only after the autopsy report is received.
