ইন্দ্রজিৎ আইচঃ উত্তর ২৪ পরগনার বরানগর পৌরসভার নেতাজী কলোনীর দুর্গা ভবন চত্বরে শতবার্ষিকী অনুষ্ঠান পালন করল ‘সেটেলমেন্ট কানুনগো সমিতি’। ১৯২২ সালে গঠিত হয়েছিল এই সমিতি। শতবর্ষ পালনের অঙ্গ রূপে সমিতির তরফ থেকে আজ প্রকাশিত হয় ‘সেটেলমেন্ট কানুনগো সমিতিকে শতবর্ষের আলোকে ফিরে দেখা’ একটি বই। এই বইতে ভূমি ও ভূমি রাজস্ব দফতরের বিভিন্ন সিনিয়র অফিসাররা লিখেছেন। সেটেলমেন্ট সমিতির প্রাক্তন সভাপতি ও সাধারণ সম্পাদক মাণিক্যনারায়ণ রায় । তিনি আজ সাংবাদিকদের জানান, “আজ থেকে শতবর্ষ আগে ‘সেটেলমেন্ট কানুনগো সমিতি’ পথচলা শুরু করলেও বর্তমানে এই সমিতির সাথে যুক্ত সদস্য সদস্যাগণ কানুনগো রূপে নয় বরং অন্য নামে পরিচিত। একদিন যাঁরা কানুনগো রূপে কাজে যোগদান করেছিলেন পরবর্তী সময় তাঁদের অনেকেই সরকারের উচ্চ পদে বিরাজ করেছেন।
আজ শতবর্ষের এই আনন্দময় মুহুর্তে আমরা ফিরে দেখতে চলেছি আমাদের স্বর্ণালি অতীতকে।” আয়োজক সংস্থার তরফ থেকে জানানো হয়েছে, “সমগ্র রাজ্য থেকে আজ শতবার্ষিকী অনুষ্ঠানে ৪০০ প্রতিনিধি সমবেত হয়েছিলেন। শতবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষ্যে প্রকাশিত স্মরণিকায় লিখেছেন ৬৩ জন সদস্য-সদস্যা।” প্রসঙ্গত উল্লেখ্য, ‘সেটেলমেন্ট কানুনগো সমিতি’-র শতবার্ষিকী উপলক্ষ্যে একটা তথ্যচিত্রও বানানো হচ্ছে, সমিতি-র হয়ে তথ্যচিত্র নির্মাণের দায়িত্ব পেয়েছেন খোকন চক্রবর্তী।
Settlement Kanungo Samity celebrated its 100th birth anniversary at Durga Bhawan premises in Netaji Colony of Baranagar municipality in North 24 Parganas. This association was formed in 1922. As part of the centenary celebration, the association today published a book titled ‘Looking back at the settlement Kanungo Samity in the light of the centenary’. The book has been written by various senior officers of the Land and Land Revenue Department. Manikya Narayan Roy is the former president and general secretary of the Settlement Association. “The ‘Settlement Kanungo Samity’ started its journey a hundred years ago, but now the members associated with this association are not known as Kanungo but by other names,” he told reporters today. Many of those who joined work as kanungo one day later held high positions in the government.
Today, in this joyous moment of the centenary, we are going to look back at our golden past. “More than 400 delegates from across the state had gathered for the centenary celebrations today. 63 members have written in the memorial published on the occasion of the centenary. It is to be noted that a documentary is also being made on the occasion of the centenary of ‘Settlement Kanungo Samity’, khokon Chakraborty has been given the responsibility of making a documentary on behalf of the association.
