kolkata: ‘তারে জমিন পর’ সিনেমায় ডিসলেক্সিয়ায় আক্রান্ত ছোট্ট শিশু ঈশানের কথা অনেকেরই মনে আছে। কিন্তু ডিসলেক্সিয়া ছাড়াও শিশু ও খুদে পড়ুয়ারা এ ধরনের নানা ‘কমিউনিকেশন ডিসঅর্ডারে’ ভোগেন সারা বিশ্ব জুড়ে ;যা অনেক সময় বাইরে থেকে দেখে বোঝা যায় না। ফলে শিশুটি আর পাঁচ জন স্বাভাবিক ছেলে মেয়ের মতো বড় হয়ে উঠতে পারে না। ২০২১ সালের বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার রিপোর্ট অনুযায়ী সারা পৃথিবীতে ১৫ বছরের নিচে প্রায় ৩৪ মিলিয়ন বাচ্চার কানে শোনার সমস্যা রয়েছে। অনেকের মস্তিষ্ক আবার কোনো শব্দ বা বাক্য সঠিকভাবে প্রসেস করতে পারে না। সে কারণে বিভিন্ন ধরনের ‘লার্নিং ডিসঅর্ডার’,গলার স্বরের সমস্যা,তোতলামি,উচ্চারন ও অন্যান্য সমস্যা দেখা দেয়। অথচ সঠিক সময় বা সঠিকভাবে একজন বিশেষজ্ঞের পরামর্শ নিয়ে যদি ওই শিশুর চিকিৎসা করা যায় তাহলে বেশিরভাগ ক্ষেত্রেই এই সমস্যা দূর করা সম্ভব বলে মনে করেন বাক ও শ্রবণ বিশেষজ্ঞরা। কলকাতার আই সি সি আর এ ‘২১ শতকের স্কুল শিক্ষকতা’ বিষয়ে এক আলোচনাসভায় শিশু ও ছাত্র ছাত্রীদের এই সমস্যাগুলি তুলে ধরেন বিশেষজ্ঞরা। কলকাতার এস এস কে এম হাসপাতালের বাক ও শ্রবণ বিশেষজ্ঞ বা স্পিচ প্যাথলজিস্ট মহম্মদ শাহিদুল আরেফিন বলেন, পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন উন্নত দেশে এ বিষয়ে গবেষণা এবং সমীক্ষায় দেখা গেছে প্রাথমিক এবং সেকেন্ডারি স্কুলে পাঠরত বাচ্চাদের মধ্যে এই কমিউনিকেশন ডিসঅর্ডারে আক্রান্তের হার ৭.৭% থেকে ১৩% পর্যন্ত। অর্থাৎ প্রায় প্রতি ৭ থেকে ১২ জন শিশুর মধ্যে একজন বাচ্চা এই সমস্যায় ভুগছে। আমাদের দেশে বিজ্ঞানসম্মতভাবে এরকম কোন সমীক্ষা বা গবেষণা করা না হলেও সংখ্যাটা নেহাত কম নয় বরং একটু বেশি বলেই মনে করেন তাঁরা। আরেফিন বলেন, এই সমস্যাগুলি যে থেরাপি বা চিকিৎসার মাধ্যমে সারিয়ে তোলা সম্ভব সে ব্যাপারে যেমন সাধারণ মানুষকে সচেতন করে তোলা প্রয়োজন। একইভাবে স্কুল স্তরে পঠন-পাঠন বা বিশেষ ক্যাম্প করে ছাত্র-ছাত্রীদের এই ধরনের কোন সমস্যা আছে কিনা তা পরীক্ষা করা দরকার।

But in addition to dyslexia, children and young students suffer from various ‘communication disorders’ all over the world, which many times cannot be understood from the outside. As a result, the child cannot grow up like five normal boys and girls. According to a 2021 World Health Organization report, around 34 million children under the age of 15 worldwide have hearing problems. Many people’s brains cannot process words or sentences properly. Because of that, various types of ‘learning disorders’, voice problems, stuttering, pronunciation and other problems occur. But if the child can be treated at the right time or properly with the advice of a specialist, then in most cases it is possible to eliminate this problem, according to speech and hearing specialists. Experts highlighted these problems of children and students at a seminar on ’21st Century School Teaching’ at ICCRA, Kolkata. Mohammad Shahidul Arefin, a speech and hearing specialist or speech pathologist at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata, said that in various developed countries of the world, studies and surveys on this matter have shown that the rate of communication disorder among children studying in primary and secondary schools ranges from 7.7% to 13%. That is, about one in every 7 to 12 children suffers from this problem. Although no such survey or research has been done scientifically in our country, they think that the number is not less but a little more. Arefin said that it is necessary to make the general public aware that these problems can be cured through therapy or treatment. Similarly, school-level readings or special camps need to be checked if students have any such problems.
