গোপাল বিশ্বাস,নবদ্বীপঃ নরেন্দ্র দাভোলকার — ভারতবর্ষে কুসংস্কার বিরোধী আন্দোলন ও যুক্তিবাদ প্রসারে এক অগ্রণী নাম।মহারাষ্ট্রে কুসংস্কার বিরোধী আইন প্রণয়নের দাবিতে আন্দোলন সংগঠিত করার ‘অপরাধে’ ধর্মীয় মৌলবাদীদের হাতে খুন হতে হয়েছিল তাঁকে। সেই শহিদ যুক্তিবাদী ডা. দাভোলকারকে শ্রদ্ধা জানাতে আজ ভারতীয় বিজ্ঞান ও যুক্তিবাদী সমিতি নবদ্বীপ শাখার পক্ষ থেকে নবদ্বীপ শহরের “নাস্তিক ভিলা”- য় আয়োজন করা হয় এক ঘরোয়া আলোচনা সভার। অনুষ্ঠান শুরু হয় বিভাস বিশ্বাসের কণ্ঠে মানবতাবাদী গান দিয়ে। তারপর শুরু হয় কবিতা পাঠ। কবিতা পাঠ করেন মৌসুমী দেবনাথ, সুবল সাহা, তানিয়া বিশ্বাস এবং সোনালি দাস। ‘রাষ্ট্র কর্তৃক যুক্তিবাদীদের কন্ঠরোধ ‘ এই বিষয়ের উপর বক্তব্য রাখেন বীণা বিশ্বাস, বিভাস বিশ্বাস এবং প্রতাপ চন্দ্র দাস।
নরেন্দ্র দাভোলকার ছিলেন একজন দরদী চিকিৎসক, সমাজসেবী, যুক্তিবাদী, কুসংস্কার বিরোধী আন্দোলনের নেতা, লেখক এবং মহারাষ্ট্র অন্ধশ্রদ্ধা নির্মূলন সমিতির প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সভাপতি। সমাজ থেকে কুসংস্কার দূর করে মানুষকে বিজ্ঞানমনস্ক হিসেবে গড়ে তুলতে যে আন্দোলনের সূচনা তিনি ও তাঁর সতীর্থরা করেছিলেন তাতে দক্ষিণপন্থী উগ্র হিন্দুত্ববাদী সংগঠন খুব বিপাকে পড়ে। এই আন্দোলনকে প্রতিহত করতে তারা সর্ব শক্তি নিয়ে ঝাঁপায়। কুসংস্কার ও অন্ধ বিশ্বাসের অচলায়তন ভাঙা সহজ কাজ নয় । স্বভাবতই দাভোলকার বিরাগভাজন হয়েছিলেন স্বার্থান্বেষী ধর্মীয় গোষ্ঠী ও তথাকথিত সমাজপতিদের। এরই পরিণামে খুন হতে হয় তাঁকে। ২০১৩ সালের ২০ আগস্ট মহারাষ্ট্রের পুনেতে প্রাতঃভ্রমণে বেরিয়ে উগ্রপন্থী হিন্দুত্ববাদী সংগঠনের দুই আততায়ীর গুলিতে তাঁর শরীর ঝাঝরা হয়ে যায়।
শুধু নরেন্দ্র দাভোলকর নয়, ভারতবর্ষের ধর্মীয় মৌলবাদীরা আরও অনেক বিজ্ঞানকর্মী, যুক্তিবাদী ও সমাজকর্মীদেরও হত্যা করেছে। তাদের উদ্দেশ্য, এই হত্যার মধ্য দিয়ে কুসংস্কার ও মৌলবাদ বিরোধী আন্দোলনের গতিকে রোধ করা। তারা আসলে ভাঙতে চায় আন্দোলন কর্মীদের মনোবল। কিন্তু সে কাজে তাদের সফল হবার আদৌ কোনও সম্ভাবনা নেই। আলোর দিশারি দাভোলকারের আদর্শ সমাজের কোণে কোণে পৌঁছে দিতে ভারতীয় বিজ্ঞান ও যুক্তিবাদী সমিতি আজ তাঁকে মর্যাদার সাথে স্মরণ করলো। শুধু ভারতবর্ষেই নয়, প্রতিবেশী বাংলাদেশেও বিজ্ঞানকর্মী, যুক্তিবাদী ও মুক্তমনাদের উপর চলছে ধর্মীয় মৌলবাদীদের অত্যচার। রাষ্ট্রীয় উদাসীনতা, এবং ধর্মকে তোষণের কারণে মৌলবাদীদের এতো বাড়বাড়ন্ত।
ভারতীয় বিজ্ঞান ও যুক্তিবাদী সমিতির সম্পাদক প্রতাপ চন্দ্র দাস বলেন, ” রাষ্ট্র জনগণকে শোষণ করার জন্য সমাজে কুসংস্কার ও অন্ধবিশ্বাস টিকিয়ে রাখতে চায়। রাষ্ট্রীয় প্রশ্রয় ছাড়া মৌলবাদীদের এই বাড়বাড়ন্ত সম্ভব নয়। কাজেই সকল বিজ্ঞানমনষ্ক, যুক্তিবাদী এবং মুক্তমনাদের ঐক্যবদ্ধ হয়ে ধর্মীয় মৌলবাদের বিরুদ্ধে লড়তে হবে। কুসংস্কারের বিরুদ্ধে ব্যাপক সচেতনতামূলক প্রচার চালাতে হবে। নরেন্দ্র দাভোলকারের দৃঢ়, অবিচলিত কুসংস্কারবিরোধী মানসিকতা আমাদের এগিয়ে চলার পাথেয়। তাঁর দেখানো পথ ও শিক্ষাকে আদর্শ করে এগোতে হবে এবং বাস্তবে তা প্রয়োগ করতে হবে। এই বাংলায় তথা সারা দেশে কুসংস্কার বিরোধী বিল পাশ করানোর জন্য আমাদের গন আন্দোলন গড়ে তুলতে হবে এবং আমাদের আশা যে আমরা সেটা পারবো। “
Gopal Biswas, Nabadwip: Narendra Dabholkar – a leading name in the anti-superstition movement and the spread of rationalism in India. He was murdered by religious fundamentalists for the “crime” of organising a movement demanding an anti-superstition law in Maharashtra. The martyred rationalist Dr. To pay tribute to Dabholkar, the Nabadwip branch of the Indian Association of Science and Rationalists organized a domestic discussion meeting at the “Atheist Villa” in Nabadwip city today. The program started with a humanitarian song sung by Bibhas Biswas. Then the poetry begins. The poems were recited by Moushumi Debnath, Subal Saha, Tania Biswas and Sonali Das. Veena Biswas, Bibhas Biswas and Pratap Chandra Das spoke on the topic of ‘The voice of rationalists by the state’.
Narendra Dabholkar was a doctor, philanthropist, rationalist, leader of the anti-superstition movement, writer and founder president of the Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti. The right-wing extremist Hindutva organization was in great trouble with the movement started by him and his colleagues to remove superstitions from the society and make people science-minded. They jumped with all their might to resist this movement. It is not an easy task to break the shackles of superstition and blind faith. Naturally, Dabholkar was disenchanted by vested religious groups and so-called socialists. As a result, he had to be murdered. On August 20, 2013, he was shot dead by two assailants of a radical Hindutva outfit while he was on a morning walk in Pune, Maharashtra.
Not only Narendra Dabholkar, but religious fundamentalists in India have also killed many other scientists, rationalists and social workers. Their aim is to stop the movement against superstition and fundamentalism through this murder. They really want to break the morale of the movement workers. But there is no chance of them succeeding in that work. The Indian Association of Science and Rationalists today remembered dabholkar with dignity to take his ideals to every nook and corner of the society. Not only in India, but also in neighboring Bangladesh, the atrocities of religious fundamentalists are going on on science workers, rationalists and free-thinkers. The fundamentalists are growing so much because of the state’s apathy, and the appeasement of religion.
Pratap Chandra Das, secretary of the Indian Association of Science and Rationalists, said, “The state wants to maintain superstitions and superstitions in the society to exploit the people. This rise of fundamentalists is not possible without state patronage. Therefore, all scientists, rationalists and free-thinkers have to unite and fight against religious fundamentalism. There should be a massive awareness campaign against superstition. Narendra Dabholkar’s strong, unwavering anti-superstition mentality is on the way for us to move forward. The path and teachings shown by him have to be idealized and implemented in reality. We have to build a mass movement to pass the anti-superstition bill in this Bengal and across the country and we hope that we can do it. “
