মালদাঃ—করোণা সংক্রমণ এবং লকডাউনের জেরে মালদা ঢাকিদের রুজি- রোজগার না থাকায় দিশেহারা হয়ে পড়েছিলেন। ঢাক বাদ্য ছেড়ে এখন অধিকাংশই ঢাকিরা দিনমজুরি করছেন । কেউ যাচ্ছেন ভিন রাজ্যে কাজ করতে। আবার কেউ ইঁট ভাটা থেকে শুরু করে নির্মাণ কাজের শ্রমিকের কাজ করছেন।কেউবা করছেন জুতো সেলাই। অধিকাংশ ঢাকিদের বক্তব্য, গত দু’বছর ধরে লকডাউনের জেরে ভিন রাজ্যে থেকে কোন বায়না আসে নি। ঢাক বাজানো ছেড়ে অন্য পেশায় যুক্ত হতে হয়েছে । সংসারে বৃদ্ধ বাবা-মা, স্ত্রী, সন্তানদের নিয়ে চরম অসহায় তার মধ্যে চলতে হচ্ছে । রাজ্য সরকার বা প্রশাসনের পক্ষ থেকেও মেলনি কোনো সরকারী ভাতা। এই অবস্থায় কেউ কেউ আবার পরিবার নিয়ে আত্মহত্যার কথা অভিমান করে বলেছেন। এরকম পরিস্থিতি চলতে থাকলে আগামীতে এই বাংলার প্রাচীন ঐতিহ্যবাহী শিল্প ঢাকিদের একটা বড় অংশ বিলুপ্ত হয়ে যাওয়ার পথে।
মালদা জেলার ইংরেজবাজার ব্লকের যদুপুর ঢাকিপাড়া, ফুলবাড়ী ঢাকিপাড়া কালিয়াচকের ব্লকে রথবাড়ি এলাকায় রয়েছে ঢাকিদের একটি পাড়া । যেখানে ৫০টিরও বেশি পরিবার এই ঢাক বাদ্যের সঙ্গে যুক্ত রয়েছেন। কিন্তু গত দুই বছর ধরে করোনা সংক্রমনের জেরে এখন জেরবার অবস্থা ওইসব ঢাকি পরিবারদের। অধিকাংশ ঢাকিরা বিগত দিনে ভিন রাজ্য যথা – দিল্লি , মুম্বাই , মধ্যপ্রদেশ , উত্তরাখন্ড, আসাম, ঝাড়খন্ড, বিহার সহ বিভিন্ন রাজ্যের ঢাক বাজানোর মোটা টাকা পেতেন । যার দরুন পরিবারের লোকেরাও কিছুটা হলেও স্বস্তিতে পুজোর কটা মাস কাটাতেন। কিন্তু গত দু’বছর ধরে করোণা সংক্রমণ এবং লকডাউনের জেরে দিশেহারা অবস্থা মালদার ঢাকিদের। ঢাক বাজানো বন্ধ হয়ে যাবার কারণে এখন কেউ ঠিকা শ্রমিক। আবার কেউ রাজমিস্ত্রির সাথে সহযোগী শ্রমিক হিসেবে কাজ করছেন।কোউবা করছেন জুতো সেলাই। অনেকের হাতে আবার কাজ নেই । তাই সারাদিন বাড়িতে বসেই কাটাচ্ছেন। মানসিকভাবে ভেঙে পড়েছেন অনেক পরিবার। এই অবস্থায় কি করবেন কিছুই ভেবে কূলকিনারা করতে পারছেন না তাঁরা। তাই মালদার ঢাকিদের সরকারি সহযোগিতার পাওয়ার ক্ষেত্রে প্রশাসনের কাছে বিভিন্নভাবে দরবার করেছেন অধিকাংশ পরিবারের সদস্যরা।
নওদা ঢাকিপাড়া এলাকার ঢাক বাদক উত্তম রবিদাস , বাবলু রবিদাসদের বক্তব্য, পুজোর সময় বেশি অর্থ উপার্জনের জন্য ভিন রাজ্যে পাড়ি দিতাম। মোটা টাকা রোজগার হতো। কিন্তু করোণার জন্য ভিন রাজ্য থেকে ঢাক বাজানোর কোন বায়না এখন আসছে না। মালদাতেও বিভিন্ন পুজো উদ্যোক্তারা ঢাক বাজানোর ক্ষেত্রে আমাদের অগ্রিম কোন বরাত দিচ্ছেন না। বাপ-ঠাকুরদাদার আমল থেকে তৈরি হয়ে আসা প্রাচীন শিল্প এখন তিলে তিলে শেষ হয়ে যাচ্ছে। সরকারি কোন সাহায্য পাওয়া যাচ্ছে না। আর্থিক সংকটে দিন কাটছে এই সমস্ত অসহায় পরিবারের। অনেকেই এই পরিস্থিতিতে আত্মহত্যার হুমকি দিচ্ছেন। তাই এখন ঢাকিদের পরিবারের পাশে যাতে সরকার মানবিক মুখ নিয়ে চেয়ে দেখে সেই আশায় পথ চেয়ে রয়েছেন মালদার ঢাকিরা।

Malda: Due to the corona infection and the lockdown, the Malda Dhakis had lost their livelihood due to lack of income. Most of the dhakis are now working as daily wage labourers leaving the dhak music. Some are going to work in different states. Others are working as labourers from brick kilns to construction workers. Someone is sewing shoes. According to most of the dhakis, due to the lockdown for the last two years, there has been no demand from other states. I had to quit playing the dhak and join another profession. In the family, he has to walk in extreme helplessness with his elderly parents, wife, and children. There is no government allowance from the state government or administration. In this situation, some have boasted about committing suicide with their families. If such a situation continues, a large part of the dhakis, the ancient traditional art of this Bengal, is on the verge of extinction in the future. Jadupur Dhakipara of Englishbazar block of Malda district, Phulbari Dhakipara kaliachak block has a neighborhood of Dhakid in Rathbari area. Where more than 50 families are associated with this dhak instrument. But due to the corona infection for the last two years, these dhaki families are now in a state of disrepair. In the past, most of the dhakis used to get a hefty amount of money to play the dhak in different states such as Delhi, Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Jharkhand, Bihar and other states. As a result, the family members also used to spend some months of the puja with some relief. But for the last two years, due to corona infection and lockdown, the Dhakis of Malda are in a state of disrepair. Now someone is a contract worker because the dhak has stopped playing. Others are working as co-workers with masons. Kouba is sewing shoes. Many people don’t have work again. So he’s sitting at home all day. Many families are mentally broken. In this situation, they are not able to think about what to do. Therefore, most of the family members have appealed to the administration in various ways to get government support to the Dhakis of Malda.
Uttam Ravidas and Bablu Ravidas, dhak players of Naoda Dhakipara area, said, “I used to go to other states to earn more money during the puja. He earned a lot of money. But now there is no way to play the drum from other states for corona. In Malda too, various puja organisers are not giving us any advance to play the dhak. The ancient art, which was created from the time of the father-grandfather, is now ending in sesame seeds. There is no government help available. All these helpless families are spending their days in financial crisis. Many people are threatening to commit suicide in this situation. So now the Dhakis of Malda are looking for a way so that the government looks at the family of the Dhakis with a human face.
