ইন্দ্রজিৎ আইচঃ ১২৭ বছরের চির যুবক পদ্মশ্রী স্বামী শিবানন্দ মহারাজকে শিবানন্দ পিস এওয়ার্ডে ভূষিত করল সাউথ আফ্রিকার একটি সংস্থা ‘স্বামী শিবানন্দ ওয়ার্ল্ড পিস ফাউন্ডেশান’। এই পুরষ্কার এর আগে নেনসেন মেন্ডেলা ও দলাই লামার মতো ব্যাক্তিত্বকে দেওয়া হয়েছে। আজ কলকাতা প্রেস ক্লাবে এক অনুষ্ঠানে পুরষ্কার তুলে দেন শিবানন্দ পিস ফাউন্ডেশানের সভাপতি প্রিন্স ঈশ্বর রামলুচম্যান মাভেকা জুলু। যোগ-ব্যায়াম আর মানব সেবার মাধ্যমেই তিনি এত বছর বেঁচে আছেন । এই বয়সেও তিনি বিশ্বের ৪৫ টি দেশ ভ্রমন করেছেন। বর্তমানে বারানসিতে একটি ছোটো আশ্রমে থাকেলেও তিনি এই বয়সেও চসে বেড়াচ্ছেন সর্বত্র। শিবানন্দ বাবা পুরষ্কার পেয়ে সকলের মঙ্গল কামনা করেন। জুলু বলেন, তার পুর্বপুরষ ভারত থেকে সাউথ আফ্রিকা গিয়েছিলেন। তিনি তার পুর্বপুরুষের জন্মভূমিতে ফিরে এরকম একজন মানুষকে এই পুরষ্কার তুলে দিতে পেরে খুবই গর্ব বোধ করছেন।
Swami Shivanand World Peace Foundation, a South African organisation, has conferred the Sivananda Peace Award on 127-year-old Padma Shri Swami Shivanand Maharaj. The award has previously been given to personalities like Nansen Mandela and the Dalai Lama. Prince Ishwar Ramluchman Maveka Zulu, president of The Sivananda Peace Foundation, handed over the awards at a function at the Kolkata Press Club. He has lived for so many years through yoga and human service. Even at this age, he has traveled to 45 countries of the world. Although he currently lives in a small ashram in Varanasi, he is roaming everywhere even at this age. Sivananda Baba received the award and wished for the well-being of all. Zulu said his ancestors had travelled from India to South Africa. He is very proud to return to the birthplace of his ancestors and hand over this award to such a person.
