While audiences all over the world are eagerly waiting for Spider-Man in the Spider-Verse, Indian fans are naturally excited. The film will introduce the first Indian Spider-Man, Pavitra Prabhakar, and is voiced by Indian cricketer Shubman Gill in Hindi and English. The original Indian version of Spider-Man was first directed by Sharad Devarajan, Suresh Sitharaman and Jeevan J. Kang introduced the Spider-Man: India comic book in January 2005. Now Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse will mark his first appearance on the big screen. The film’s director Kemp Powers explained how the Holy Light differs from the other Spider-People of the multiverse, “The Holy Light’s powers come through magic, so he is quite different from the other Spider-People who are bitten by radioactive spiders. He actually gained his powers from a mystical shaman. Like many other Spider-People, he has suffered a loss, and in his case, it was his uncle. Yet he is probably one of the most optimistic characters in the movie. He is definitely a glass-half-full kind of guy. He is Miles’ contemporary, and his happy, positive nature may lead Miles astray.” Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse by Sony Pictures Entertainment India English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Gujarati, will release in Marathi, Punjabi and Bengali on 1 June 2023 in theatres only.
