গোপাল বিশ্বাস, নদীয়া-বছর ভর বিভিন্ন পুজোপার্বনের মূর্তী গড়লেও দূর্গা পুজোকে ঘিরে একটা আলাদা চাহিদা ও মুনাফার আশায় থাকে অন্যান্য পেশায় যুক্ত সকলের সাথে মৃৎশিল্পীরাও। কিন্তু এবছরও নদীয়ার, শান্তি পুর নবদ্বীপ সহ জেলার প্রায় সিংহ ভাগ মৃৎশিল্পীদের কোথাও যেন বিষাদের শুর। মৃৎশিল্পীরা জানায় এবছর কাজের বড়াত,ভাল থাকলেও মুখে হাসি নেই তাদের, একদিকে একটানা প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগ, অন্যদিকে প্রতিমার সাজ-সজ্জার আকাশ ছোঁয়া দাম,তারওপর রয়েছে শ্রমিকদের মজুরি বৃদ্ধি,। সময়মতো প্রতিমা তৈরি করতে শ্রমিকের সংখ্যাটাও লাগছে অনেকটাই বেশি। এবছর লাভ অংশে অনেকটাই ভাটা, গোটা নদীয়া জেলার মৃৎশিল্পীদের।গোটা নদীয়া জেলার বিভিন্ন প্রান্ত থেকে মৃৎশিল্পীরা জানাচ্ছেন, গত দুবছর করোনা কালের কারণে মুখ থুবড়ে পড়তে হয়েছিল তাদের। মৃৎ শিল্পীর কাজের সাথে যুক্ত থাকা অনেকেই ভিন রাজ্যের চলে যায় রুটি রুজির টানে। করোনা শিথিল হওয়ার পরে আবারো মৃৎ শিল্পীর কাজে যোগ দেয় তারা, কিন্তু প্রতিমা তৈরীর সমস্ত সরঞ্জামের মূল্য বৃদ্ধি হওয়ায় নতুন করে কপালে চিন্তার ভাঁজ পড়ে। এবছর নদীয়া জেলার বিভিন্ন কুমোরটুলি গুলিতে দুর্গা প্রতিমা তৈরীর অর্ডার বেশি থাকলেও একটানা প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগের কারণে এখন দিনরাত এক করে কাজ করতে হচ্ছে শিল্পীদের। অন্যদিকে প্রতিমা শোকানোর জন্য ব্যবহার করতে হচ্ছে বিভিন্ন জ্বালানির মাধ্যমে ব্লু লাইট ল্যাম্প, তাতেও খরচের সংখ্যাটা অনেকটাই বেশি। একটানা প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগ না হলে এই খরচ কম হতো বলেই জানাচ্ছেন মৃৎশিল্পীরা।

This year, the orders for making Durga idols in various potters in the Nadia district are high, but due to continuous natural calamities, the artists have to work day and night. On the other hand, blue light lamps with different fuels have to be used to mourn idols, and the number of expenses is also very high. Potters say that this cost would have been less if there had been no continuous natural calamities.
