Sreenidi Deccan FC edge past debutants Diamond Harbour FC

Diamond Harbour FC – 0                                                          Sreenidi Deccan FC – 1 (Fabrice Kah 60)

Kalyani, Saturday, February 28, 2026: Sreenidi Deccan FC edged past debutants Diamond Harbour FC by a solitary goal in Match three of the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26 at the Kalyani Stadium in Kolkata on Saturday, February 28, 2026. Cameroonian midfielder Fabrice Kah struck on the hour mark for the Hyderabad-based side, a goal that ultimately proved decisive in an early-season contest of significance. Diamond Harbour were handed a gilt-edged opportunity to draw level from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute, but substitute goalkeeper Aryan Niraj Lamba emerged as the hero, producing a superb save to ensure Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto’s side departed with all three points.

The hosts set the tempo early, enjoying the bulk of possession, but genuine clear-cut opportunities remained scarce as both sides were wary of conceding. Sreenidi Deccan stayed compact at the back, soaking up the pressure with discipline. At the other end, the visitors carried a threat on the counter-attack and from set pieces, registering three shots on target and winning three corners before the interval. The first half finished goalless, but Sreenidi Deccan were dealt a significant blow midway through the opening period. First-choice goalkeeper Bhaskar Roy suffered a non-contact muscle injury and was forced off, with Aryan Niraj Lamba coming on in his place. The breakthrough arrived on the hour mark. Lalromawia whipped in a superbly flighted corner that picked out David Castañeda, unmarked inside the area. Castañeda’s initial header was parried by Diamond Harbour goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh, but the rebound fell kindly to Kah, who reacted quickest to steer it home and hand Sreenidi a 1-0 lead.

Diamond Harbour head coach Vicuña responded with attacking substitutions, bringing on Hugo Diaz Rodriguez and Halicharan Narzary. The move almost paid dividends in the 72nd minute when Diamond Harbour were awarded a penalty after Jobby Justin was brought down in the box following an overrun challenge by Sreenidi defender Jagdeep Singh. Substitute goalkeeper Lamba, however, emerged as the saviour for Sreenidi, perfectly judging the spot-kick taken by Mikel Kortazar to deny the hosts. Following the penalty scare, Vaz Pinto bolstered his defence in the 78th minute, introducing Deepak DP and Brandon Vanlalremdika in place of Lalromawia and Hadi Idrissou, respectively. With a hefty ten minutes added on after regulation 90, Diamond Harbour threw caution to the wind and piled relentless pressure on the visitors’ penalty area. However, Sreenidi Deccan defended perfectly through the late onslaught to preserve their clean sheet and secure a crucial away victory.

Odisha and Chennaiyin share points at the Kalinga Stadium

Odisha FC – 1 (Carlos Delgado 68’)         Chennaiyin FC – 1 (Elsinho 45’+2)

Bhubaneswar, Sunday, March 1, 2026: A second-half header from captain Carlos Delgado ensured that Odisha FC earned a 1-1 draw against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League 2025-26 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Both teams settled for a point apiece. Odisha FC are provisionally ninth in the standings with two points, while Chennaiyin FC are placed eleventh with one point. Odisha left-back Saviour Gama was adjudged the Player of the Match. Odisha FC head coach TG Purushottaman named an unchanged starting XI from the previous encounter. Chennaiyin FC head coach Clifford Miranda, meanwhile, made two changes, introducing Farukh Choudhary and Maheson Singh. The contest began at a slow pace, with both sides probing for openings but lacking precision in the final third. The first meaningful opportunity arrived in the 14th minute when Odisha’s left winger Isak Ralte broke down the left in a swift counterattack, but his left-footed effort from inside the box drifted wide of the far post.

Chennaiyin responded in the 25th minute as striker Iñigo Martín’s right-footed effort from the right side of the box was blocked by defender Saviour Gama. Five minutes later, centre-back Pritam Kotal rose to meet Alberto Noguera’s corner but headed wide of the target. Martín continued to threaten, firing just over from the centre of the box in the 34th minute. Odisha nearly found the breakthrough in the 41st minute when Rahim Ali attempted a speculative shot from outside the box, but his effort sailed high and wide. Chennaiyin broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time. In the second minute of added time, Farukh Choudhary delivered a precise corner from the left, and the unmarked Elsinho rose highest to power a header into the net, handing the visitors a 1-0 lead.

The hosts responded immediately. Rahul KP’s left-footed effort from the right was acrobatically saved by Mohammad Nawaz at the top left corner. From the resulting set piece, Rahim Ali headed wide before Rahul’s follow-up header was blocked, as Odisha went into the interval trailing by a goal. The second half resumed similarly, with neither side able to carve out clear-cut chances early on. Chennaiyin’s substitute Imran Khan tried his luck in the 60th minute with a left-footed attempt from the right, but the shot sailed just over the bar. The equaliser arrived from a set piece in the 68th minute. After Isak won a free-kick near the halfway line, midfielder Lalthathanga Khawlhring delivered a deep ball into the area. Captain Carlos Delgado rose above the defence and guided a header into the goal to level the scores at 1-1.

Chennaiyin looked to restore their advantage soon after. Imran’s effort from a difficult angle was comfortably gathered by the Juggernauts goalkeeper Amrinder Singh in the 70th minute, while Iñigo Martín dragged a close-range attempt wide four minutes later. Both sides searched for a decisive goal in the closing stages. Odisha remained compact at the back, marshalled effectively by Delgado, limiting Chennaiyin’s space in the attacking third. Rohit Kumar came close in the 85th minute but headed over the bar. Despite late pressure from both ends, neither could find the finishing touch. The final whistle confirmed a 1-1 draw at the Kalinga Stadium.

Asian Institute of Immunology & Rheumatology (AIIR), Kolkata

The Asian Institute of Immunology & Rheumatology (AIIR) remained dedicated to raising awareness about rare immune and inflammatory disorders and strengthening patient support networks in Eastern India. On the occasion of Rare Disease Day, AIIR hosted a patient-focused awareness programme under the theme: “Moving Forward. Looking Ahead—An Event for Patients” The programme brought together patients living with complex and often under-recognised disorders, including:
  • Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) – a primary immune deficiency characterised by low antibody levels leading to recurrent infections and autoimmune complications. Early diagnosis significantly improved the quality of life.
  • Chronic Granulomatous Disease (CGD) is a rare inherited disorder affecting white blood cell function, predisposing individuals to severe bacterial and fungal infections.
  • Behçet’s disease—a multisystem inflammatory condition presenting with recurrent oral and genital ulcers, eye inflammation, skin lesions, and vascular involvement.
  • DiGeorge Syndrome (22q11.2 deletion syndrome)—a genetic condition associated with immune deficiency, cardiac anomalies, and developmental challenges.
  • DADA2 (Deficiency of Adenosine Deaminase 2)—a rare autoinflammatory disease causing early-onset strokes, vasculitis, cytopenias, and immune dysfunction.
  • Good’s Syndrome—an adult-onset immunodeficiency associated with thymoma leading to recurrent infections and autoimmune features.
  • IgG4-Related Disease – a chronic inflammatory condition affecting multiple organs, including the pancreas, salivary glands, kidneys, and retroperitoneum, often mimicking malignancy.
  • Relapsing Polychondritis – a rare autoimmune disease targeting cartilage, commonly affecting ears, nose, airways, and joints.
  • Giant Cell Arteritis—a large-vessel vasculitis seen typically in older adults that could lead to severe complications such as vision loss if untreated.
  • Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)—a chronic multisystem autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the body’s own tissues, potentially affecting the skin, joints, kidneys, brain, blood cells, and other organs. Early recognition with appropriate immunomodulatory therapy remained crucial to prevent long-term organ damage.
  • Sarcoidosis – a systemic inflammatory disorder characterised by non-caseating granulomas in affected organs, most commonly lungs and lymph nodes, but also skin, eyes, heart, and nervous system. The disease ranged from self-limiting to chronic progressive forms requiring long-term immunosuppressive treatment.
The event commenced with an introductory address by Dr Parthajit Das, Director, AIIR, who formally introduced the programme and reaffirmed the institute’s unwavering commitment to raising awareness, promoting early diagnosis, strengthening research, and building structured patient-support systems for rare immune-mediated diseases. Dr Samar Ranjan Pal, senior consultant rheumatologist, discussed the broader medical aspects of rare diseases, focusing on clinical red flags, diagnostic challenges, advances in immunotherapy, and the importance of coordinated multidisciplinary care. Dr Sanjib Mondal, Head of the Paediatric Rheumatology Unit, AIIR, highlighted autoimmune and gene-mediated autoinflammatory diseases in children, emphasising early recognition, the role of genetics, and long-term outcomes in paediatric populations. Dr A. K. Majumder, Senior Ophthalmologist, addressed the often-overlooked issue of ocular involvement in autoimmune diseases, underscoring how eye manifestations often preceded or complicated systemic disease and were frequently delayed in diagnosis. Dr Sampurna Roy Choudhury, Manager – Policy and Government Affairs, AstraZeneca Pharma India Ltd, spoke on “Rare Disease Policy in India – The Way Forward”, outlining the policy landscape, access barriers, and future directions for strengthening institutional and governmental support. Dr Abhirup Sarkar, Lab Director, Suraksha Diagnostics, discussed the critical role of genetics in rare disease diagnosis, highlighting the importance of genomic testing and precision medicine in shortening the diagnostic odyssey. Dr Arghya Chattopadhyay, academic director, AIIR, deliberated on the societal impact of living with rare diseases, addressing stigma, psychosocial burden, economic challenges, and the need for sustained advocacy and community engagement. The programme culminated in a dedicated Patient Experience Sharing Session that offered a meaningful platform for individuals and carers to narrate their lived journeys. Many rare disease patients had endured a prolonged “diagnostic odyssey”, often consulting multiple specialists over months or years before receiving an accurate diagnosis. During this session, patients reflected on the uncertainty, misdiagnoses, repeated investigations, financial strain, emotional distress, and social isolation that frequently accompanied rare conditions. They also spoke about the turning point of finally receiving a diagnosis—what it meant in terms of validation, access to appropriate therapy, and restoration of hope. Carers shared their perspectives on navigating healthcare systems, balancing family responsibilities, and advocating persistently for their loved ones. Beyond highlighting challenges, this segment aimed to celebrate resilience, demonstrating how informed care, multidisciplinary collaboration, and supportive communities transformed outcomes. By bringing the human voice to the forefront, the session sought to sensitise healthcare professionals, policymakers, and society at large to the real-world impact of rare diseases and the urgent need for awareness, timely referral pathways, and structured support systems. Through patient interactions, focused expert talks, and open dialogue, the programme emphasised the importance of early recognition, accurate diagnosis, and timely referral, which were often delayed in rare diseases due to a lack of awareness. Discussions highlighted the need for multidisciplinary collaboration—bringing together immunologists, rheumatologists, neurologists, ophthalmologists, dermatologists, geneticists, and other specialists—to ensure comprehensive care. The event also addressed access to advanced diagnostics, biologic therapies, immunoglobulin replacement, genetic counselling, and long-term monitoring, alongside the psychosocial challenges faced by patients and families. Importantly, the gathering created a supportive patient community where individuals and carers shared lived experiences, reduced isolation, and empowered one another. By fostering dialogue between patients and healthcare professionals, AIIR sought to bridge gaps in understanding, counter misinformation, and advocate for policy-level attention to rare immune-mediated disorders. The Asian Institute of Immunology & Rheumatology remained steadfast in its commitment to awareness, education, research, and compassionate care, ensuring that rare diseases were recognised early, managed scientifically, and addressed with dignity and empathy.

Mohammedan SC – 1 (Lalthankima 12 ’)

Kolkata, Saturday, February 28, 2026: A dominant attacking display powered Mohun Bagan Super Giant to a comprehensive 5-1 victory over Mohammedan Sporting Club in the Kolkata derby at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The Mariners moved provisionally to the top of the table with nine points, edging ahead of Jamshedpur FC on goal difference, while Mohammedan SC moved to the bottom without a point. Robson Azevedo was adjudged the Player of the Match. Mohun Bagan head coach Sergio Lobera rotated his squad, making four changes to the starting XI, to bring in Amey Ranawade, Manvir Singh, Deepak Tangri, and Jason Cummings. Mohammedan head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo made two changes in midfield, introducing Lalthankima and Lalngaihsaka as the visitors once again fielded an all-Indian lineup.

The derby began at a fast pace. Mohun Bagan forced an early corner in the opening minute, and Jason Cummings saw his effort blocked soon after. Robson Azevedo tested Subhajit Bhattacharjee from a distance in the second minute, while Alberto Rodríguez fired over from long range. Mohammedan stunned the hosts in the 12th minute. Lalngaihsaka delivered a precise corner from the right, and Lalthankima rose highest to power a header into the top left corner, giving Vishal Kaith no chance and handing them a 1-0 lead. The response from the Mariners was immediate. Robson struck the crossbar with a curling effort in the 18th minute before Anirudh Thapa tried his luck from inside the box. The equalizer arrived in the 22nd minute when Robson curled a right-footed shot from the left of the box into the bottom-left corner to make it 1-1.

Four minutes later, the Brazilian doubled his tally. A loose ball inside the area fell kindly to him, and he timed his right-footed finish perfectly into the bottom-right corner to put Mohun Bagan 2-1 ahead. Jamie Maclaren extended the advantage in the 35th minute after the Mohammedan defense failed to clear their lines, allowing the striker to slot home from close range and make it 3-1 before the interval. Despite a few attempts from Mohammedan, including long-range efforts from midfielder Amarjit Singh and substitute Makan Chothe Winkle, Mohun Bagan remained firmly in control. Manvir Singh came close early in the second half before making a decisive impact in the 62nd minute.

Abhishek Singh’s cross into the box found Manvir, whose diving header took a deflection off Mohammedan defender Sajjad Hussain before finding the net, stretching the lead to 4-1. The Mariners added a fifth in the 70th minute through Dimitri Petratos, whose powerful strike from 30 yards out clipped the woodwork before nestling into the net. Mohun Bagan continued to press, with Liston Colaco, Sahal Abdul Samad, and Maclaren, but all were denied by impressive saves from Subhajit Bhattacharjee. The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive 5-1 victory for Mohun Bagan Super Giants in the derby.

Inter Kashi triumph over Kerala Blasters to script maiden ISL victory

Kerala Blasters FC – 1 (Víctor Bertomeu 84’)                        Inter Kashi FC – 2 (Nauris Petkevičius 34’, Alfred Planas 78’)

Kochi, Saturday, February 28, 2026: A composed team performance saw Inter Kashi FC register their first-ever win in the top tier of Indian football with a 2-1 victory over Kerala Blasters FC in Match 18 of the Indian Super League 2025-26 season at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The visitors climbed provisionally to sixth in the standings with five points, while Kerala Blasters were left searching for consistency in the early phase of the campaign. Alfred Planas was adjudged the Player of the Match. Kerala Blasters head coach David Català made four changes to his starting XI, bringing in Muhammed Saheef, Vibin Mohanan, Matías Hernández, and French forward Kévin Yoke. Inter Kashi head coach Antonio Habas made three alterations, introducing Wayne Vaz, Lithuanian forward Nauris Petkevičius, and defender Narender.

The game began cautiously, with the first real opportunity arriving in the second minute when Inter Kashi midfielder Rohit Danu tested Arsh Shaikh from distance, the Kerala goalkeeper comfortably gathering the effort. The opening exchanges were evenly contested, with neither side able to impose itself in the final third. Kerala Blasters threatened from a set-piece in the 15th minute when centre-back Oumar Bah headed wide from Vibin Mohanan’s delivery. At the other end, Petkevičius was lively, seeing one effort blocked before firing another wide of the target after being picked out by Planas. The deadlock was broken in the 34th minute, just after the water break. Alfred Planas threaded a precise through ball into the path of Petkevičius, who created space before unleashing a powerful right-footed strike into the centre of the net, giving Inter Kashi a 1-0 lead.

Kerala had a golden opportunity to equalise in stoppage time of the first half, but Korou Singh failed to keep his effort down from a low cross by Naocha Singh, as the hosts went into the interval trailing by a goal. The Blasters emerged with greater urgency in the second half. Substitute Jai Quitongo forced a save early on, and defender Bikash Y fired over from a distance following a corner. Inter Kashi remained dangerous on the counter, with midfielder Prasanth testing Arsh Shaikh in the 55th minute. Kerala’s first effort on target came in the 66th minute when striker Muhammad Ajsal’s header from close range was well saved by Lluis Tarrés, who stood firm once again to deny Kévin Yoke minutes later.

Inter Kashi doubled their advantage in the 78th minute through a well-worked move. Petkevičius once again played a key role, setting up Alfred Planas on the right side of the box, and the Spaniard made no mistake, placing a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner to make it 2-0. The hosts responded in the 84th minute; substitute Ebindas Y delivered a cross following a set-piece, and Víctor Bertomeu produced an acrobatic right-footed finish from a tight angle to pull one back for the home side. Bertomeu nearly found an equaliser in the closing stages, first seeing a header blocked and then heading wide deep into stoppage time. However, Inter Kashi defended resolutely to see out the match and secure a memorable 2-1 victory.

Dempo SC hosts Real Kashmir FC; Shillong Lajong faces Rajasthan United in Sunday’s IFL double-header

Goa/Shillong, Saturday, February 28, 2026: The Indian Football League (IFL), the country’s second-tier men’s professional competition, continues its opening weekend action with two matches scheduled on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The first match will see the most successful club in the league, Dempo SC, host Real Kashmir FC at the PJN Stadium in Fatorda, Goa (16:00 IST). Later in the evening, Shillong Lajong FC will take on Rajasthan United FC at the SSA Stadium in Shillong (18:30 IST). The Indian Football League will be telecast live on DD Sports and streamed on the Waves app.

Dempo SC vs Real Kashmir FC

The legendary Goan club dominated the top tier between 2005 and 2012 with a record five national titles and will be looking to re-establish their dominance on home soil. Head coach Samir Naik emphasised their ambition, stating, “Whenever Dempo take part in any competition, we take it seriously. We want to become champions.” After finishing sixth last season, Dempo are targeting a top-five finish to fight for promotion. Bolstered by a confident Super Cup run where their all-Indian squad held ISL giants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan goalless, alongside the addition of key foreign signings like striker Marcus Joseph and defender Aubin Kouakou, Dempo look poised to set a strong early pace in the I-League. Their opponents, Real Kashmir FC, arrive with their trademark resilience and physical style of play. The Snow Leopards from Srinagar, under head coach Ishfaq Ahmed, are known for their stubborn defence and lethal counter-attacks. Acknowledging the tough task ahead, Ahmed noted, “Dempo are historically a very strong side, especially at home in Fatorda. They have their philosophy; they dominate on the ground and play good football.

“The first 20 minutes in a season opener are about controlling your nerves and performing to your best ability,” he said. Adapting to the coastal heat of Goa will be a test of endurance for the travelling side. RKFC’s Mohammad Inaam praised Dempo’s recent form, noting, “They played very good football against Mohun Bagan and East Bengal, and I think this season it will be equally tough as the last because every team is strong, but we believe we can do it,” he stated, urging fans to tune into the broadcast and support the team. With both sides eager to set the tone in a fiercely competitive campaign, Sunday’s clash promises to be an early indicator of intent. Hosts Dempo SC will be keen to make a strong first impression upon their return to the national stage in front of their home supporters, while Real Kashmir FC will look to draw on their trademark grit and experience in what is expected to be a closely fought contest.

Shillong Lajong FC vs Rajasthan United FC

In the evening fixture, Shillong Lajong FC step onto the pitch, backed by their passionate home crowd. The Meghalaya-based club remains firmly committed to promoting local talent over massive spending. Head coach Viru Thapa said, “Our fans are our 12th man. They will motivate us to play our best. The fan support of Shillong is our pride, and it is evident with our Durand Cup results.” Standing in their way are Rajasthan United FC, who arrive in Shillong with a revamped squad and a point to prove. The Jaipur-based outfit, led by interim head coach Vikas Rawat, has bolstered its ranks with key foreign signings during the break. They will aim to dictate the tempo and play a controlled, possession-heavy game to silence the raucous home support and secure valuable points on the road. Rajasthan’s head coach said, “Football is always challenging. It doesn’t matter if you are playing at home or away. We are planning to get promotion to ISL; that’s our only aim this season.” Their skipper, Bhabindra Malla Thakuri, echoed the coach’s confidence ahead of their away encounter: “We are motivated to get three points in the away game. We have been together more than three times. Now it is our time to deliver.” With the stakes high right from the opening weekend, both sides will be eager to lay down an early marker. Hosts Shillong Lajong will be desperate to capitalise on their home advantage and vocal support, while Rajasthan United will look to navigate what is expected to be a highly competitive and intense encounter.

Mumbai City aim for third straight victory; Odisha and Chennaiyin seek first win

Bhubaneswar/Mumbai, Saturday, February 28, 2026: Odisha FC will take on Chennaiyin FC as both sides aim to secure a crucial victory in their Indian Super League 2025-26 encounter on Sunday, March 1, at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar. The match is scheduled to kick off at 17:00 IST. The second match of the day sees Mumbai City FC host Northeast United FC in an intriguing clash at the Mumbai Football Arena, with the kickoff slated for 19:30 IST on Sunday. Both matches will be streamed live on FanCode and telecast on Sony Sports Ten 2.

Odisha FC vs Chennaiyin FC

Odisha FC head into the fixture looking to capitalise on their passionate home advantage. After being held to a goalless draw against debutants Inter Kashi FC in their season opener, the Juggernauts will be eager to find their clinical edge and open their goalscoring account in Bhubaneswar. With Odisha currently sitting on one point after a tight defensive display anchored by goalkeeper Amrinder Singh, they know the importance of turning their home ground into a fortress early in the season.

Odisha FC head coach, T.G. Purushottaman, emphasised his team’s focus on the necessity of maintaining their intensity and finding their finishing touch. “We created several chances in our first game but lacked the final touch. “It doesn’t matter if the opponents have won or lost. What matters is how we manage space – how we create it, how we deny it, and how we press. Consistency is what we’re building.”

Odisha FC goalkeeper Amrinder Singh said, “After just three days of training together, to keep a clean sheet shows the character of this team. As a goalkeeper and captain, I stay calm because the rest look at me. If I show pressure, they lose confidence. Defence can be organised quickly, but an attack needs time. Now we’ve had more sessions, and we’re ready to improve going forward.”

Chennaiyin FC, meanwhile, arrives in Bhubaneswar aiming to bounce back from a difficult start to their campaign. Clifford Miranda’s men are searching for their first points and first goal of the season after suffering back-to-back defeats. In their recent 0-2 loss to defending champions Mohun Bagan SG, where they conceded goals to Jamie Maclaren and Dimitrios Petratos, the Marina Machans struggled offensively and failed to register a single shot on target.

Currently languishing in 11th place in the points table, the visitors will aim to carry better defensive organisation and sharper counter-attacks against their opponents to turn their fortunes around. Acknowledging the home support of the Odisha fans at the Kalinga Stadium and the need to convert resilience into actual points, Chennaiyin FC head coach Clifford Miranda views the pressure as a vital developmental tool for his side. “We have faced two very tough opponents in our first two games, and we need a bit of time to cope with the pressure and intensity of our new system. The team is constantly evolving and improving. It has only been two matches. We must remain positive, stick together, and be at our very best to compete and try to secure a positive result against Odisha,” said Miranda.

Chennaiyin FC goalkeeper Samik Mitra said, “The morale inside our dressing room is still high despite the results. We want to win the next game and climb the points table. Against Mohun Bagan, we defended well for large parts but were punished for small margins. We need to stick to the plan as a team, and the results will follow.”

Odisha FC will look to control and dictate the tempo in front of their home fans, while Chennaiyin FC aims to stay compact and capitalise on transitions. With three important points to be won, the match promises to be an interesting contest.

Mumbai City FC vs NorthEast United FC

Mumbai City FC will look to extend its dominant run as they face Northeast United FC in a highly anticipated Sunday evening clash. The Islanders have started the season brilliantly, currently sitting at third in the points table with six points from two matches. They enter the match on the back of a clinical 1-0 victory over Kerala Blasters FC, propelled by a decisive 48th-minute strike from Lallianzuala Chhangte and sharp near-post saves from Phurba Lachenpa. They will be eager to secure their third consecutive win and clean sheet.

Reflecting on his team’s form and the importance of maintaining momentum, Mumbai City FC head coach Petr Krátký stressed the importance of maintaining intensity. “If we think it will be an easy game, we are not going to win, for sure. We need maximum respect for the opponents because in football, anything may happen. On paper, maybe we are in better form, but on the pitch, we must prove it. If we are not at 100 per cent, if we have overconfidence, we may have problems. It is important to give everything with the right approach and show that we are better during the 90 minutes.”

Mumbai City FC winger Lallianzuala Chhangte said, “I came into this season to be successful as a team first. I know the goals will come because I work hard every day, and my confidence is high after scoring in Kochi. Winning individual awards would be special, but my ambition is to win trophies with this team. We want to keep this winning streak going for our fans.”

NorthEast United FC will head into the match searching for their first win of the campaign after a mixed start. They arrive following a 1-1 draw against Bengaluru FC, where they impressively matched the hosts in possession and attempts. After falling behind to an early 20th-minute Braian Sánchez strike, substitute Lalrinzuala scored a brilliant 68th-minute equaliser with a composed finish over Gurpreet Singh Sandhu. The Highlanders showed great character and will be desperate to build on that momentum against the Islanders.

Speaking about the performances in the last two encounters, Northeast United head coach Juan Pedro Benali said, “Yes, we faced challenges in our opening defeat, but the reaction against Bengaluru was fantastic. There is no excuse in football. We have a young squad, and we believe in them. These players have shown incredible professionalism. We will not give up, we will fight in every match, and we are confident that with hard work and unity, this team will continue to improve and compete against a top side like Mumbai.”

NorthEast United forward Lalrinzuala said, “Getting my goal in the last game was a huge boost for me, but when we step onto the pitch against Mumbai, the only thing that matters is the team result. For those 90 minutes, it’s about pride, emotion, and giving everything for the badge. We know Mumbai City is a strong side in good form, but we are motivated to improve every game, stay focused on our plan, and put in a performance that reflects our character.”

Mohun Bagan, Mohammedan clash in Kolkata derby; Kerala Blasters, Inter Kashi aim for first win

Kochi/Kolkata, Friday, February 27, 2026: Kerala Blasters FC will take on Inter Kashi FC as both sides aim to secure a crucial victory in their Indian Super League 2025-26 season encounter on Saturday, February 28, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. The match is scheduled to kick off at 17:00 IST. The second match of the day sees Mohun Bagan Super Giant host Mohammedan SC in a blockbuster derby at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, in Kolkata, with the kickoff slated for 19:30 IST on Saturday. Both matches will be streamed live on FanCode and telecast on Sony Sports Ten 2. Kerala Blasters FC vs Inter Kashi FC

Kerala Blasters FC head into the fixture looking to capitalise on their passionate home support. After suffering consecutive defeats to open their campaign, including a narrow 0-1 loss to Mumbai City FC, where they conceded a 48th-minute strike by Lallianzuala Chhangte, the Yellow Army will be eager to open their account and secure three vital points in Kochi. With the Blasters currently sitting at the bottom of the table without a point, they know the importance of turning their home ground into a fortress early in the season against the newly promoted visitors.

Kerala Blasters FC head coach David Català emphasised his team’s focus on the necessity of maintaining their intensity. “We are improving, but improvement alone is not enough—we must be more decisive in the final third and more compact in defence. Against a team like Inter Kashi, who defend in a mid-to-low block, we have to move the ball faster, arrive in the box with more players, and maintain our intensity for the full 90 minutes. I don’t want excuses about preparation time or late arrivals; this is our reality, and we must adapt quickly, compete with personality, and show that we are ready to fight for victory.” Kerala Blasters midfielder Vibin Mohanan said, “Playing at home in Kochi after a long time was a proud and emotional moment for me. Even though we didn’t get the result, the support from the fans gave us extra motivation. Whether I start or play just ten minutes, I will give everything for the team. We know we must improve, especially in contributing more from midfield, and we are working hard to give our supporters a performance they can be proud of.”

Inter Kashi FC, meanwhile, arrives in Kochi aiming to continue their resilient start to their debut ISL campaign. Antonio Habas’s men have shown impressive defensive solidity to remain unbeaten, accumulating two points from consecutive draws, including a recent hard-fought 0-0 stalemate against Odisha FC. As this is the first-ever meeting between the two sides, the visitors will aim to carry this defensive organisation against their opponents, who will be backed by a massive home crowd. Acknowledging the intimidating home support of the Kerala fans at the JLN Stadium and the need to convert defensive resilience into actual points, Inter Kashi head coach Antonio Habas views the pressure as a vital developmental tool for his side.

“Being the newest entrant of the ISL, we need a bit of time to cope with the pressure and intensity. The team is constantly evolving and improving. Only two matches. We need to play regularly to be competitive with the other ISL teams. We must be at our very best to compete and try to secure a positive result,” said Habas. Inter Kashi defender Narender Gahlot said, “The morale inside our dressing room is extremely high. We want to win the next game and get into the points table. Against Odisha, we started the game really well, but we were not at our 100 per cent physically. We need to stick to the plan as a team, and the results will follow.”

Kerala Blasters will look to control and dictate tempo in front of their home fans, while Inter Kashi aim to stay compact and capitalise on transitions. With three important points to be won, the match promises to be an interesting contest. Mohun Bagan SG vs Mohammedan Sporting Club: Mohun Bagan SG will look to extend their dominant run as they face local rivals Mohammedan Sporting in a highly anticipated Kolkata derby. The defending champions have started the season brilliantly on the attacking front, currently sitting second in the table with six points, level with arch-rivals East Bengal FC but behind on goal difference. They enter the derby on the back of a clinical 2-0 victory over Chennaiyin FC, propelled by goals from Jamie Maclaren and Dimitrios Petratos, and will be eager to secure the bragging rights.

Reflecting on his team’s form and the emotional weight of a derby, Mohun Bagan SG head coach Sergio Lobera stressed the importance of maintaining the intensity. “If we think it will be an easy game, we are not going to win, for sure. We need maximum respect for the opponents because in football, anything can happen. On paper, maybe we are favourites, but on the pitch, we must prove it. If we are not at 100 per cent, if we have overconfidence, we may have problems. It is important to give everything with the right approach and show that we are better during the 90 minutes.” Mohun Bagan SG forward Jamie Maclaren said, “I came here to be successful as a team first. I know the goals will come because I work hard every day, and my confidence is high. Last year I didn’t win the Golden Boot, but I scored in the final, and we won the championship — that is what matters most. Of course, winning individual awards would be special, but my ambition is to win trophies with this team.” Mohammedan will head into the match searching for their first points and first goal of the campaign after back-to-back defeats in their first two matches. Coming off a 0-2 defeat to FC Goa, the Black and White Brigade, currently languishing down the table, will be desperate to bounce back.

Speaking about the performances in the last two encounters, Mohammedan head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo said, “Yes, we are facing challenges—from a short pre-season to the transfer ban and financial issues—but there is no excuse in football. We have a young, all-Indian squad, and we believe in them. These players have shown incredible professionalism despite not having the same facilities or advantages as other ISL clubs. We will not give up; we will fight in every match, and we are confident that with hard work and unity, this team will continue to improve and compete strongly in this league.”

Mohammedan Sporting goalkeeper Subhajit Bhattacharjee said, “Problems will always be there in football, but when we step onto the pitch for a derby, nothing else matters. For those 90 minutes, it’s about pride, emotion, and giving everything for the badge and the fans. We know Mohun Bagan is a strong side in good form, but we are motivated to improve every game, stay focused on our plan, and put in a performance that reflects our character and determination.”

Debutants Diamond Harbour FC set for stern test against Sreenidi Deccan FC

Kolkata, Friday, February 27, 2026: Sreenidi Deccan FC and I-League 2 champions Diamond Harbour FC will kick off their Indian Football League 2025-26 campaigns at the Kalyani Stadium on Saturday, February 28, 2026. The match is scheduled to kick off at 18:30 IST. Diamond Harbour FC will be making its Indian Football League debut after earning promotion as I-League 2 champions. At the same time, Sreenidi Deccan FC enters its fifth consecutive season in the country’s second-tier competition. All matches of the Indian Football League will be telecast live on DD Sports and streamed on the Wtheaves app.

The home side will be led by experienced coach Kibu Vicuña, who is in his third consecutive season with the club and has assembled a strong side that was the surprise package of the Durand Cup 2025, going all the way to the semi-finals, where they went down 1-2 to East Bengal FC. Vicuña also has the experience of winning the I-League 2019-20 in his maiden season in India with Mohun Bagan.

Speaking ahead of their debut match in the IFL, Vicuña said, “We are happy that the league is finally starting. We have been preparing for this for a long time and are prepared to give our 100 per cent. It is a short season, and there will be less margin for error for all the teams. So, every match will be crucial for us. “They (Sreenidi Deccan) are one of the best teams in the competition, with a strong budget and experienced players. They have quality foreign players and experienced Indian players who have played in both the I-League and the ISL. “It will be a tough game,” said Vicuña, who has previously coached ISL sides like Kerala Blasters and Mohammedan SC, while talking about the opposition. Diamond Harbour will be led from the front by talismanic striker Luka Majcen, who has previously won the I-League with Gokulam Kerala FC and Punjab FC, finishing as the league’s leading scorer during his title-winning campaign with the latter. He brings experience of playing in the ISL as well. He will be ably supported by former India internationals Jobby Justin and Halicharan Narzary.

Majcen said, “It could be the toughest season because in a short format, you cannot afford many mistakes. We must stay focused from the first match until the last game. We have been preparing for six months. In the end, it’s a normal match. But mentally, because it’s the first game, it feels very important. That part is in your head.” Sreenidi Deccan have reappointed Carlos Vaz Pinto ahead of the new season following his return from Portuguese second-tier side Clube Desportivo de Mafra. The Hyderabad-based outfit retained the core of the squad that finished ninth last season and will be aiming to put in a stronger showing in the upcoming campaign. Speaking ahead of their first match of the season, Carlos Vaz Pinto said, “Our preparation was good. We know it was a difficult period for Indian football, and the break was long, but we started at a good time to prepare the team for the season. The atmosphere around the team is very positive. However, we expect a tough and competitive league. The format is different this season, and many teams have strong squads and experienced coaches. Several clubs will aim for promotion to the ISL, so I believe the league will be very competitive.”

Sreenidi Deccan will rely on the experience of players such as David Castañeda, I-League winner with Punjab FC; Brandon Vanlalremdika; Bhaskar Roy; and Muhammad Hammad, who won the Jarnail Singh Award for Best Defender in the 2023-24 I-League season, while also drawing on the youthful energy of emerging talents like Rashid CK, C Lalchungnunga, and R Lalbiakliana. Sreenidi striker and captain David Castañeda said, “This is my fifth year with the club, and I believe we have a very strong squad this season, with both Indian and foreign players who are professional and good human beings. The atmosphere is positive, and I hope we can compete strongly in every game this season. “We want the city and state to feel proud of how we represent Telangana football. Telangana has a strong football history, and Hyderabad has done very well in recent years in the ISL. Now we are the only professional football team in the state, and that’s a big responsibility. We promise to compete in every game. “Our focus is game by game,” said the Colombian. With both sides eager to set the tone in a fiercely competitive campaign, Saturday’s clash promises to be an early indicator of intent. Hosts Diamond Harbour FC will be keen to make a strong first impression in front of their home supporters, while Sreenidi Deccan FC will look to draw on their experience in what is expected to be a closely fought contest.

Namdhari and Aizawl split points in Indian Football League opener

Namdhari SA – 1 (Abdoulaye Diallo 90+6)                          Aizawl FC – 1 (Vanlalhriatzuala K 43’)

Sri Bhaini Sahib, Friday, February 27, 2026: Former champions Aizawl FC and hosts Namdhari Sports Academy split points in the inaugural match of the rechristened Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26 season, after they played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at the Namdhari Stadium in Sri Bhaini Sahib, on Friday, February 27, 2026. Vanlalhriatzuala struck for the former champions in the 43rd minute of the first half to put Aizawl ahead. Still, Senegalese striker Abdoulaye Diallo restored parity in the sixth minute of added time ahead of the final whistle to ensure the Punjab side came away with a point in the Division Two season opener. The result was the second draw in five encounters between the two sides, with Aizawl ahead 2-1 to date.

Aizawl coach Lalruatfela packed his midfield at kick-off, leaving Zomuansanga as the lone striker up front, to express a clear intent to exploit the wings. Namdhari gaffer Harpreet fielded a regular 4-4-2 formation and started with three Ghanaians: skipper Lamine Moro at the heart of defence and Francis Addo and Najeeb Ibrahim in the centre of midfield. The People’s Club were quicker off the blocks and had their first shot at goal as early as the fourth minute. Laldawngzuala, the Aizawl right back, managed to make forays upfield and sent some good crosses, keeping Namdhari goalkeeper Nishan Singh busy under the bar. The best chance of the period ahead of the goal came Aizawl’s way, however, when Vincent Lalduhawma found Omoma clear at the top of Namdhari’s six-yard box, but his shot at goal was too feeble to worry Nishan. Hriata then struck just two minutes before half-time, when what initially looked like a harmless floater from the flank by Dawnga glided across the goal to find the former in acres of space. The diminutive midfielder moved swiftly to unleash a right-footed curler which beat Nishan and bulged the Namdhari net.

Coach Harpreet did not waste time and brought on Bhupinder Singh in place of forward Jaskaranpreet Singh after the half-time break to bolster his midfield. Despite the move, Aizawl got the first good chance after the break when Zozoa’s controlled curler was tipped onto the bar by Nishan. Harpreet then brought on Diallo in place of Najeeb in the 59th minute. Namdhari kept pressing harder, which brought about the first cautions, with skipper Moro getting into the books in the 81st minute, followed by Aizawl’s Hriata in the 86th minute. Earlier, Namdhari coach Harpreet had received the first yellow card of the match. With six minutes added on after the regulation 90, Namdhari almost equalised when Diallo got through in the box and, with only the keeper to beat, lobbed above both him and the crossbar. Diallo would not be denied on the day, though, when in the final minute, a snapshot from Lotjem hit the left upright and came back for the Senegalese to tap it in, as he saved the day for the hosts.

East Bengal FC – 1 (Edmund Lalrindika 40’)                Jamshedpur FC – 2 (Stephen Eze 61’, Rei Tachikawa 87′)

Kolkata, Friday, February 27, 2026: A late strike from substitute Rei Tachikawa completed a dramatic turnaround as Jamshedpur FC defeated East Bengal FC 2-1 in Match 16 of the Indian Super League 2025-26 season at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Friday, February 27, 2026. The visitors registered their third consecutive victory to move provisionally to the top of the table with nine points from three matches. In comparison, East Bengal remains on six points following their first defeat of the campaign. Stephen Eze was adjudged the Player of the Match. East Bengal head coach Óscar Bruzón made one change to his starting line-up, bringing in Anton Søjberg in place of Nandha Kumar. Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle also made a solitary alteration, handing Vincy Barretto a start ahead of Ritwik Kumar Das. The contest began at a high tempo with both sides looking to assert early control. East Bengal left-back Jay Gupta came close in the third minute, heading over from a Miguel Figueira delivery following a set-piece. Jamshedpur responded immediately, with Raphael Bouli finding the net from a cross by Mohammed Sanan, but the effort was ruled out for offside. Bouli was caught offside twice in the opening exchanges as East Bengal maintained a disciplined defensive line.

Vincy Barretto remained a threat down the right and forced a save from East Bengal’s keeper Prabhsukhan Gill, while defender Anwar Ali blocked Jamshedpur FC’s Madih Talal’s long-range effort. East Bengal, too, looked dangerous from set pieces, with Anwar and Søjberg both going close from headers. Despite Jamshedpur asking more questions of the home defense before the water break, East Bengal broke the deadlock in the 40th minute. A throw-in from the left led to Bipin Singh delivering a cross into the box, where Edmund Lalrindika showed composure to lose his marker and guide a right-footed finish into the bottom-left corner past Albino Gomes. Miguel Figueira nearly doubled the advantage before half-time, while Youssef Ezzejjari headed narrowly over from a corner as the hosts carried a slender 1-0 lead into the interval. Jamshedpur began the second half with renewed attacking intent. Bouli’s header in the 55th minute was acrobatically saved by Gill, and moments later, Talal’s free kick tested the East Bengal goalkeeper again. The pressure eventually told in the 61st minute when Stephen Eze rose highest to meet Nikola Stojanović’s corner and powered a header into the top right corner to level the scores.

The match opened up thereafter, with both sides searching for a decisive goal. Bipin Singh and Jay tested Gomes, while Bruzón introduced fresh legs in the 69th minute to inject energy into his attack. However, Jamshedpur’s defensive unit held firm. Coyle’s change in the 84th minute proved pivotal as Rei Tachikawa made an immediate impact. In the 87th minute, Tachikawa initiated the move, combining with Mohammed Sanan before playing a clever one-two with Madih Talal. The Japanese midfielder then curled a sublime right-footed effort from the left side of the box into the top right corner, handing Jamshedpur a 2-1 lead. East Bengal pushed forward in stoppage time in search of an equalizer. Anwar Ali’s header was saved by Gomes, and Vishnu Puthiya fired wide with the goalkeeper off his line, but the visitors managed the closing minutes effectively to secure three points.

East Bengal FC vs Jamshedpur FC

East Bengal FC heads into the fixture sitting at the top of the table on the back of a commanding 4-1 victory against Sporting Club Delhi in their previous encounter. Goals from Edmund Lalrindika, Miguel Figueira, and a brace from Youssef Ezzejjari ensured a comfortable victory for the Red and Gold Brigade.

With both East Bengal and Jamshedpur tied on six points from their opening two games, the winners of this clash will move to the top of the table temporarily. Speaking on the necessity of maintaining their winning form and the weight of home expectations, East Bengal FC head coach Óscar Bruzón emphasised his team’s focus. “The most important objective is to secure the three points, but we will do it our way by respecting our pattern of play and performing at our highest level. Jamshedpur is emphasised strongly in transitions, dangerous on set pieces, and very well organised, so we must stay concentrated and disciplined for the full 90 minutes.” East Bengal midfielder Saúl Crespo said, “They are a strong team. We know some of their players and their quality. We also know their coach. It will be a difficult game, but we are confident as a team this season. We started very well. We are in a great moment, and we want to continue in the same way with the help of the fans.”

Jamshedpur FC, meanwhile, arrive in Kolkata sitting behind the hosts in fourth place with six points, separated only by goal difference. The Men of Steel secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Punjab FC in their last outing, courtesy of a 78th-minute strike by Vincy Barretto and a second consecutive clean sheet. They will aim to carry this defensive organisation against their opponents, who have started the season brilliantly on the attacking front. Acknowledging the home support of the East Bengal fans at the VYBK and the need to convert defensive resilience into actual points, Jamshedpur FC head coach Owen Coyle views the pressure as a vital developmental tool for his side.

“It’s a huge game away in Kolkata against East Bengal. They are a fantastic club with a proud history and heavy investment this season. Óscar Bruzón is a good friend and an excellent coach, but during the match, both of us will do everything to win. They have quality with strong Indian internationals and talented foreigners. We must be at our very best to compete and try to secure three points,” said Coyle. “It’s not always about scoring three or four goals; it’s about discipline, hard work, and getting the result. Six points from two games with two clean sheets show the character and commitment of this group,” Coyle noted.

Jamshedpur midfielder Pronay Halder said, “The morale inside our dressing room is extremely high. We believe in each other, we trust our coaching staff, and we are united as a team. If we continue with this mentality and fighting spirit, we can achieve something special this season.” East Bengal will look to control and dictate tempo in front of their home fans, while Jamshedpur aims to stay compact and capitalise on transitions. With three important points to be won, the match promises to be an interesting contest.

Bengaluru FC vs Punjab FC

Bengaluru FC return to the Sree Kanteerava Stadium looking to bounce back to winning ways after being held to a 1-1 draw by Northeast United FC. Despite taking an early lead through Braian Sánchez’s 20th-minute strike, the Blues were pegged back by a brilliant goal by Lalrinzuala Lalbiaknia. Reflecting on his team’s return to Bengaluru and the tactical adjustments needed to sustain their form, Bengaluru FC head coach Renedy Singh stressed the importance of maintaining the intensity. “We need to have more control with the ball and create more chances in the final third,” he stated. “If we are consistent in defence and carry the same intensity for 90 minutes, we will be closer to winning games.”

Bengaluru FC midfielder Lalremtluanga Fanai said, “The intensity should be absolutely high according to the style of play adopted by the coach. My job is to help the defenders and to initiate the attack at the same time. I am absolutely enjoying this dual role. Getting great support from my teammates whenever the situation is challenging.”

Punjab FC travels to Bengaluru after facing a setback in their first game against Jamshedpur, which they lost 0-1. Known for their organised structure, Punjab held firm for much of their last game before conceding a late 78th-minute goal. They will take confidence from beating their opponents in the group stages of the AIFF Super Cup. Punjab FC have a better head-to-head record against Bengaluru, winning two matches and drawing one, while Bengaluru have one victory to their name.

Speaking about the encounter, the Punjab FC head coach, Panagiotis Dilmperis, emphasised the challenge ahead: Bengaluru, with a new Indian coach, is playing differently this season. They can adapt between attacking and defensive styles. But we must focus on our own tempo and playing style. We are building a clear identity and a specific playing style. With patience and hard work, we will continue to grow stronger with every match.”

Punjab FC Captain Dani Ramírez said, “This is a short league, and we cannot afford too many mistakes. But that also makes it exciting. If we put together a strong run of wins, we can quickly move to the top of the table. We are calm, confident, and united as a group, and we absolutely believe that we can fight to become champions.” Bengaluru FC will look to assert itself on home turf by sustaining pressure and showing greater ruthlessness in front of goal, while the Shers will aim to stay compact and execute their game plan with discipline.

FC Goa aims to build winning momentum against SC Delhi

fc goa training 1Margao, Wednesday, February 26, 2026: FC Goa will look to secure a second straight win when they take on Sporting Club Delhi in Match 15 of the Indian Super League 2025-26 at the PJN Stadium in Goa on Thursday, February 26, 2026. The match is scheduled for a 19:30 IST kick-off and will be streamed live on FanCode and telecast on Sony Sports TEN 2. FC Goa stuttered to a 1-1 draw against ISL debutants Inter Kashi, then defeated Mohammedan Sporting 2-0 in Kolkata. On the other hand, SC Delhi started their season with a 0-2 loss to Bengaluru FC and went down 1-4 to East Bengal after taking the lead in their second match. Speaking ahead of their home fixture, FC Goa head coach Manolo Márquez said, “It won’t be an easy game. They (SC Delhi) had chances in both matches they played. We need to forget statistics when we enter the pitch. If we don’t play well, we will have problems.”

Midfielder Ayush Chhetri, who has gradually become a stable fixture in the FC Goa midfield, said, “I played the last three years with foreign players and learned a lot from them. I’m using that experience this season. Now I’m trying to apply those lessons and take more responsibility on the pitch.” A young SC Delhi side has played some entertaining football under Tomasz Tchórz, and early signs are there of them wanting to establish a clear identity for their style of play. Speaking ahead of the match, Tchórz said, “Goa are always difficult opponents defensively. They are very compact, and at Fatorda, they make the field very narrow, blocking access between the lines. Of course, we have ideas on how to break their lines and attack the space behind. We have studied the game carefully and will prepare in the best possible way.” Delhi will hope to draw confidence from their early attacking intent shown against current table toppers East Bengal as they look to secure a positive outcome in what promises to be a demanding contest.

Discussing the squad’s development and their recent defensive struggles, Tchórz said, “We are a new team, and building chemistry takes time. Yes, we conceded goals, but this is part of the process. We are working hard to become more compact, more aggressive in attacking spaces, and better in communication. I am confident that with patience and belief, the results will come.” Echoing his coach’s determination, SC Delhi forward Alan Saji said, “After my injury last year, it was difficult to stay away from the game. Getting my ISL debut and minutes on the pitch mean a lot to me,” Saji said. “I am grateful for the trust from the coach, and I am focused on scoring goals and helping the team improve every match.” While the hosts will look to make home advantage count, the visitors will be eager to translate their attacking promise into a complete performance, making it a fixture that could be decided on fine margins.

Odisha and Inter Kashi share points in Bhubaneswar

Odisha FC – 0                          Inter Kashi FC – 0

Bhubaneswar, Tuesday, February 24, 2026: Odisha FC and Inter Kashi FC played out a goalless draw in Gameweek 2 of the Indian Super League 2025-26 at the Kalinga Stadium on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Odisha FC, playing their first match of the season, and Inter Kashi FC, building on their encouraging league debut, were evenly matched throughout. Despite chances at both ends, neither side could find the breakthrough as the contest ended in the first stalemate of the season. Despite nine attempts from Odisha and eight from Inter Kashi, only two shots on target were registered by each side. Odisha’s Rahul KP was named the Player of the Match. The visitors started brightly. In the opening minute, Inter Kashi midfielder Tomba Singh made a sharp low save from distance. Odisha responded around the quarter-hour mark when Rahul KP fired over from long range, following a quick transition initiated by Lalthathanga Khawlhring. Shortly after, Suhair, VP, headed over for Odisha from close range after a set-piece delivery by Isak Vanlalruatfela.

Midway through the first half, Thoiba Singh won a free kick for the hosts on the right and later headed narrowly wide from Khawlhring’s delivery. Suhair again failed to hit the target from another set-piece situation. At the other end, Planas saw a close-range effort blocked by the defense. Just before the break, Vanlalruatfela tested Lluis Tarrés with a low strike from distance, but the Inter Kashi custodian gathered comfortably as the teams went into the interval. Early in the second half, Inter Kashi forward Rohit Danu had a header blocked inside the area. A little after the hour mark, Vanlalruatfela came closest for the Juggernauts, but his left-footed effort from a tight angle was blocked by defender David Humanes. In the 73rd minute, Danu dragged a shot wide from the left after being picked out by Prasanth Mohan. Deep into stoppage time, he attempted another effort from a distance, which sailed just over the crossbar. Both teams pushed in the closing ten minutes, with Inter Kashi threatening more. However, neither could apply the finishing touch, as the contest ended goalless, with both sides sharing the spoils.

Global Convergence at IIT Kharagpur Heralds “Renaissance 2.0” – A Parliament of Enlightened Thoughts for Collaborative Prosperity

Kolkata, February 24, 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur today hosted a historic global convergence titled “Renaissance 2.0: Parliament of Enlightened Thoughts towards Collaborative Prosperity” at the IIT Kharagpur Research Park, New Town, Kolkata. Organised under the aegis of the Institute’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, in collaboration with The Boston Pledge on its Silver Jubilee, the landmark gathering set the stage for a renewed civilisational dialogue for the 21st century.

Inspired by the seminal Parliament of the World’s Religions, where Swami Vivekananda repositioned India on the global stage and sparked a profound intellectual awakening, Renaissance 2.0 aspires to catalyse a contemporary renaissance rooted in collaborative prosperity, ethical innovation, and spiritual humanism. The Parliament brought together eminent leaders from government, academia, industry, science, technology, and the spiritual and cultural spheres to deliberate upon humanity’s shared future amid global volatility and rapid technological transformation. The initiative seeks to move beyond zero-sum paradigms towards a “plus-sum” framework of cooperation, sustainability, and collective well-being.

The inaugural session was graced by Dr Sukanta Majumdar, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Education, Government of India, alongside distinguished dignitaries, including Shri TV Narendran, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT Kharagpur; Prof. Suman Chakraborty, Director, IIT Kharagpur; Dr Partha S. Ghosh, Chairman, The Boston Pledge, USA; Prof. Madhusudan Chakraborty, Former Director, IIT Bhubaneswar; Shri Harshvardhan Neotia, Chairman, Ambuja Neotia Group; Dr Asoke Deysarkar, President, IIT Alumni Foundation US; Prof. Subrata Chattopadhyay, Emeritus Professor and Chair, Renaissance 2.0; and Padma Bhushan Pt Ajoy Chakraborty, eminent classical vocalist.

Renaissance 2.0 is anchored in four transformative plenary dialogues designed to reimagine the foundational pillars of civilisation: reimagining education to awaken the whole human being; rethinking economic constructs beyond capitalism and socialism; guiding technological evolution through a framework of “Science with Soul”; and reawakening the spiritual vector to advance the vision of One Humanity. Addressing the gathering, speakers underscored that the equations that shaped the industrial and postindustrial eras must now evolve to ensure planetary sustainability, inclusive growth, and ethical technological advancement. The Parliament emphasised responsible self-expression over unchecked self-interest and long-term planetary fitness over short-term gains.

As the inaugural edition concluded, delegates collectively affirmed their commitment to developing collaborative research initiatives, policy frameworks, and cross-sector partnerships that will translate enlightened thought into actionable global impact. Renaissance 2.0 thus marks not merely an event, but the beginning of a sustained global movement toward collaborative prosperity and a renewed human future.

IIT Kharagpur Director, Prof. Suman Chakraborty Quote: – “Renaissance 2.0 reflects IIT Kharagpur’s enduring commitment to shaping not just technological advancement but the moral and intellectual compass of the 21st century. As we celebrate our Platinum Jubilee, we reaffirm our responsibility to integrate education, economy, technology, and spirituality into a unified vision of collaborative prosperity. The future demands institutions that do not merely respond to change but consciously design it for the greater good of humanity.” Issued by:

Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, reviews the academic and infrastructure initiatives of CSTARI Kolkata. Lays Foundation Stone for Auditorium

Kolkata, 24 February 2026: Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India, visited the Central Staff Training and Research Institute (CSTARI), Kolkata, today to review the institute’s ongoing academic reforms, curriculum development initiatives, and infrastructure expansion plans.

During the visit, the Hon’ble Minister undertook a detailed assessment of CSTARI’s work in strengthening industry-aligned and future-oriented curricula under various flagship schemes, including the Craftsmen Training Scheme, Apprenticeship Training Scheme, and Crafts Instructor Training Scheme. The institute has developed and updated a substantial number of courses across these schemes and has aligned several programs with the National Credit Framework levels, with approvals from NCVET. Emphasising emerging technologies and green sectors, CSTARI has introduced foundational modules on artificial intelligence for all trainees and developed new-age courses such as Data Annotation Assistant, Artificial Intelligence Programming Assistant, Cyber Security Assistant, Semiconductor Technician, and 5G Network Technician. It has also prepared specialized curricula in areas such as green hydrogen production and nuclear power plant technology.

Addressing faculty members, officers, and trainees, Shri Jayant Chaudhary stated, “CSTARI Kolkata plays a critical role in shaping the institutional capacity of India’s skill ecosystem by strengthening curriculum design, trainer development, and research-led interventions. ” As India advances towards new frontiers in technology, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing, our institutions must remain agile, innovative, and globally benchmarked. The integration of emerging domains such as artificial intelligence and green hydrogen, along with the modernization of infrastructure, reflects our commitment to building future-ready institutions that can empower our youth and reinforce India’s position as a global skill capital.” The minister was also apprised of the institute’s structured consultative approach in revising curricula, which includes stakeholder consultations with industry experts, state directorates, sector skill bodies, and training institutions to ensure responsiveness to evolving labour market demands.

“Our curriculum architecture must remain agile, technology-aware, and globally aligned. A periodic review of CTS and CITS courses is essential to ensure that they reflect industry realities, integrate emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence where relevant, and prepare instructors and trainees for the future of work. Institutional collaboration between CSTARI and NIMI must be strengthened around a common vision of quality course and content development. Additionally, integrating internationally relevant language competencies like Japanese and German within an NSQF-compliant framework will significantly enhance global employability prospects for our skilled youth. Our objective is clear—to make India’s skilling ecosystem adaptive, globally competitive, and forward-looking,” he further added. Reviewing the institute’s training performance, the Hon’ble Minister noted that CSTARI has exceeded its annual training target for the current financial year, having trained 1211 participants against a target of 1200. The training portfolio includes foundation courses for officers recruited through the Engineering Services Examination, induction and in-service programmes for DGT officers, trainers’ competency enhancement initiatives, pedagogy training, employability skills training, and capacity building for master trainers under national programmes such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

As part of the institute’s long-term development roadmap, the Hon’ble Minister laid the foundation stone for a 200-seat capacity auditorium that will strengthen CSTARI’s academic and training infrastructure. He was also briefed on plans for the construction of a new academic block and a 50-room executive hostel to support expanding training activities. Marking the occasion, the minister participated in a tree plantation drive within the campus, reiterating the importance of sustainable development and green practices in public institutions. The visit concluded with an interaction with faculty and officials on accelerating curriculum modularization, deepening industry partnerships, and enhancing institutional excellence in alignment with national skilling priorities.
