ডা. বীরেন দাভে বলেন, বিশ্ব হিন্দু সনাতন বোর্ড প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে হিন্দু সমাজকে ঐক্যবদ্ধ করা, সামষ্টিক চেতনার জাগরণ ঘটানো এবং অন্তর্ভুক্তিমূলক ও গঠনমূলক উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে মানবসেবায় আত্মনিয়োগ করার মূল উদ্দেশ্যে। তিনি উল্লেখ করেন, সংগঠনটি নিয়মিতভাবে বিভিন্ন সমাজকল্যাণমূলক কর্মসূচি পরিচালনা করে, যার মধ্যে রয়েছে চিকিৎসা শিবির ও রক্তদান শিবির, যোগ ও সুস্থতা বিষয়ক উদ্যোগ, গো-রক্ষা কার্যক্রম এবং সাংস্কৃতিক ও ধর্মীয় সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধির কার্যকলাপ। বোর্ডের অরাজনৈতিক চরিত্রের ওপর জোর দিয়ে ডা. দাভে স্পষ্টভাবে জানান যে এই সংগঠন কোনো রাজনৈতিক দলের সঙ্গে যুক্ত নয়। তিনি বলেন, “আমাদের লক্ষ্য রাজনৈতিক নয়। আমাদের লক্ষ্য ঐক্য, সচেতনতা ও মানবসেবা।” তিনি আরও যোগ করেন, বোর্ড সর্বদা শান্তি, সম্প্রীতি ও সকল সম্প্রদায়ের মধ্যে পারস্পরিক শ্রদ্ধাবোধের পক্ষে কথা বলে এবং একই সঙ্গে অন্যায় ও জোরপূর্বক ধর্মান্তরের বিরুদ্ধে দৃঢ় অবস্থান গ্রহণ করে। সংগঠনের বৈশ্বিক উপস্থিতির কথা উল্লেখ করে ডা. বীরেন দাভে জানান, বিশ্ব হিন্দু সনাতন বোর্ড কেবল ভারতেই নয়, নেপাল, কানাডা, যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, যুক্তরাজ্য ও দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকাতেও সক্রিয়ভাবে কাজ করছে। অভিন্ন সাংস্কৃতিক মূল্যবোধ ও সেবামূলক কর্মকাণ্ডের মাধ্যমে এই দেশগুলির মধ্যে পারস্পরিক সংযোগ গড়ে তোলা হচ্ছে। যুবসমাজের সম্পৃক্ততার গুরুত্ব তুলে ধরে তিনি বলেন, বোর্ডের লক্ষ্য হল নতুন প্রজন্মকে আধ্যাত্মিক জ্ঞান, সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্য ও নৈতিক নেতৃত্বের সঙ্গে পুনরায় সংযুক্ত করা। অনুষ্ঠানের শেষে শান্তি, সামাজিক সম্প্রীতি ও অর্থবহ সমাজসেবার জন্য এক যৌথ আহ্বান জানানো হয়, যখন নতুন নেতৃত্ব পশ্চিমবঙ্গ জুড়ে বোর্ডের কার্যক্রম আরও সম্প্রসারিত করার প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছে।

ভারতবর্ষের অন্যতম প্রাচীন রাজনৈতিক দল অখিলভারত হিন্দুমহাসভার পশ্চিমবঙ্গের রাজ্য সভাপতি ডক্টর চন্দ্রচূড় গোস্বামীর নেতৃত্বে রাজ্য কমিটির একাধিক সদস্য দিল্লিতে রাষ্ট্রপতি ভবনে গিয়ে ভারতের সাংবিধানিক প্রধান রাষ্ট্রপতি দ্রৌপদী মুর্মুরকে চিঠি দিয়ে ভারতে হালাল অর্থনৈতিক ব্যবস্থাকে নিষিদ্ধ ঘোষণা করতে চিঠি দিয়ে আবেদন করলেন । ডক্টর চন্দ্রচূড় গোস্বামীর বক্তব্য ভারত যদি ধর্ম নিরপেক্ষ রাষ্ট্র হয় তাহলে কেন হালাল অর্থাৎ ইসলামী শরিয়ত অনুযায়ী বৈধ বা অনুমোদিত পণ্য বা খাদ্যবস্তু বিক্রি হবে ? একাধিক তথ্য সামনে এসেছে যেখানে প্রমাণ পাওয়া গেছে মুসলমানদের হালাল অর্থনৈতিক ব্যবস্থার একটি বৃহত্তর অংশ পৃথিবীতে মুসলিম মৌলবাদ ও সন্ত্রাসবাদকে শক্তিশালী করতে ব্যবহৃত হচ্ছে । আজ বাংলাদেশ, পাকিস্তান, ভারত তথা অন্যান দেশে মুসলিম জিহাদী মৌলবাদের যে বাড়বাড়ন্ত তার সিংহভাগ টাকা আসে হালাল অর্থনৈতিক ব্যবস্থা থেকে এবং আরব দেশের তেল বিক্রির ডোনেশনের টাকা থেকে । তাই সন্ত্রাসবাদের কোমড় ভাঙতে চাইলে অবশ্যই ভারতে হালাল অর্থনৈতিক ব্যবস্থাকে নিষিদ্ধ ঘোষণা করতে হবে । শুধু তাই নয় আমরা সনাতনী হিন্দুরা ভগবান মহাদেব, ভগবান শ্রীকৃষ্ণ, খাটো শামজি, দেবী দুর্গা, বা বৈষ্ণ মাতার উপবাস বা ব্রত পালন করার সময় ইসলামীয় রীতিতে বানানো খাদ্য বা সামগ্রী গ্রহণ করবো কেন ? আমরা ভারতের মাননীয়া রাষ্ট্রপতি দ্রৌপদী মুর্মুজির চিফ সেক্রেটারিকে আমাদের চিঠি দিলাম এবং রাষ্ট্রপতি ভবন এই বিষয়টি গুরুত্ব দিয়ে বিবেচনা করার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছে । মুসলমানরা নিজেদের মধ্যে হালাল অর্থনৈতিক ও খাদ্য সামগ্রী ব্যবহার করুক, তাতে হিন্দুমহাসভার কোন আপত্তি নেই, কিন্তু মুসলমানদের এই অধিকার কে দিয়েছে যে তারা এই ব্যবস্থা অন্য ধর্মাবলম্বী মানুষদের ওপর চাপিয়ে দিচ্ছে । সমস্ত অমুসলমান মানুষের উচিৎ এই হালাল পদ্ধতিতে বানানো খাদ্য ও পণ্যসামগ্রীকে বর্জন করা । যে দোকানে হালাল প্রোডাক্ট পাওয়া যায় সেই দোকান থেকে কোন জিনিস না কিনে সেই দোকানকেও অর্থনৈতিক ভাবে বর্জন করা উচিত । এর বিকল্প হিসেবে অবশ্য হিন্দুমহাসভা সনাতনী হিন্দুদের সেন্টিমেন্টকে মাথায় রেখে “ওম সার্টিফাইড বা স্বস্তিক সার্টিফাইড” প্রোডাক্ট বাজারে আনতে চলেছে । এখানে মূলত হিন্দু সনাতনীদের ধর্মীয় ভাবাবেগ ও জীবনশৈলীকে মাথায় রেখেই খাদ্যবস্তু ও পণ্যসামগ্রী বানানো হবে । সম্প্রতি গীতা পাঠের দিন প্যাটিস বিতর্কে মুখ খুলে রাজ্য সভাপতি ডক্টর চন্দ্রচূড় গোস্বামী বলেন আমরা যে কোন মানুষের গায়ে হাত তোলার বিরুদ্ধে কিন্তু এটাও সত্যি সনাতানীদের গীতা পাঠের মত পবিত্র অনুষ্ঠানে ভেজ প্যাটিস বলে চিকেন প্যাটিস বিক্রি করে শেখ রিয়াজুল নিশ্চই অন্যায় করেছে । এতে আমাদের সনাতনীদের ধর্মীয় ভাবাবেগে আঘাত লেগেছে । তিনি আরো বলেন কংগ্রেস, তৃণমূল, বিজেপি বা হিন্দুমহাসভা যে রাজনৈতিক দলই হোক, যদি তারা হিন্দু সনাতনীদের ধর্মীয় ভাবাবেগকে গুরুত্ব না দিয়ে সেক্যুলারিজম দেখাতে গিয়ে বেশি বাড়াবাড়ি করে তাহলে আগামী দিনে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ এবং ভারতে নির্বাচনের সময় রাজনৈতিক দলগুলোর নিজেদের অস্তিত্ব টিকিয়ে রাখা মুশকিল হয়ে পড়বে । হিন্দু মহাসভার অফিস সেক্রেটারি অনামিকা মন্ডল বলেন আমরা পশ্চিমবঙ্গে ফিরেই মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এবং রাজ্যপাল সি.ভি.আনন্দ বোসকে জানিয়ে বিভিন্ন স্থানে “ওম বা স্বস্তিক” সার্টিফাইড খাদ্য বা প্রোডাক্টের স্টল দেব । রাষ্ট্রপতি ভবনে হিন্দু- মহাসভার রাজ্য কমিটির প্রতিনিধি দলে রাজ্য সভাপতি ডক্টর চন্দ্রচূড় গোস্বামী ও অফিস সেক্রেটারি অনামিকা মন্ডল ছাড়াও সোমা দে মন্ডল, জিতেন গোস্বামী, দীপঙ্কর রায় সহ একাধিক সদস্য উপস্থিত ছিলেন ।

বকেয়া বেতনের দাবিতে সুপারের অফিস ঘেরাও, ধর্নামঞ্চেই অসুস্থ দুই মহিলা—৫ দিনে আন্দোলনে উত্তাল শক্তিনগর ও সদর হাসপাতাল ।

গোপাল বিশ্বাস -নদীয়া- বকেয়া বেতন ও বোনাসের দাবিতে নদীয়া জেলা মুখ্য স্বাস্থ্য আধিকারিক (CMOH) এবং কৃষ্ণনগর সদর হাসপাতালের সুপারের দপ্তরের সামনে টানা বিক্ষোভে সামিল হলেন জেলা সদর হাসপাতাল ও শক্তিনগর জেলা হাসপাতালে কর্মরত প্রায় ৫০ জন অস্থায়ী কর্মী। আন্দোলনকারীদের অভিযোগ, গত বছর দুর্গাপুজোর আগেই কাজ শুরু করলেও দীর্ঘ সাত মাস ধরে তাঁরা কোনও বেতন বা বোনাস পাননি। একাধিকবার কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে দাবি জানানো হলেও শুধুমাত্র আশ্বাসই মিলেছে, বাস্তবে বেতন মেলেনি। গত ১৮ ডিসেম্বর বৃহস্পতিবার থেকে শুরু হওয়া এই আন্দোলন সোমবার পঞ্চম দিনে পড়ল। আর্থিক অনটনের চাপে সংসার চালানো থেকে শুরু করে চিকিৎসা—সব কিছুতেই চরম সমস্যার মুখে পড়েছেন কর্মীরা। এর মধ্যেই আন্দোলনের মধ্যেই রবিবার রাতে ও সোমবার সকালে দুই মহিলা অস্থায়ী কর্মী অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েন। শারীরিক অবস্থার অবনতি হওয়ায় তাঁদের ভর্তি করা হয় শক্তিনগর জেলা হাসপাতালে। এই ঘটনায় আন্দোলনকারীদের ক্ষোভ আরও বেড়ে যায়। বিক্ষোভকারীরা স্পষ্ট জানিয়েছেন, অবিলম্বে বকেয়া বেতন পরিশোধ না হলে আন্দোলন আরও বৃহত্তর আকার নেবে। সোমবার সকাল থেকেই ফের সুপারের অফিসের সামনে স্লোগান ও বিক্ষোভে সরব হন তাঁরা।

গোপাল বিশ্বাস -নদীয়া- এই প্রথম খাদি বোর্ড নদীয়ার উদ্যোগে শুরু হলো প্রাকৃতিক রঙের ব্যাবহার নিয়ে কর্মশালার। খাদি বোর্ডের ডিষ্ট্রিক্ট অফিসার চন্দনকুমার দাস জানান, সাধারণত আমরা বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে যে সব রঙের ব্যাবহার করি তার অনেকটাই কৃত্রিম উপায়ে তৈরী, চমকপ্রদ দেখতে হলেও কিছু ক্ষেত্রে তা ক্ষতিকারক হয়, আর এই বিষয়ে সকলকে অবগত করতে ও কৃত্রিম রং এর পরিবর্তে প্রাকৃতিক রঙের ব্যাবহারে উৎসাহ দিতে এই কর্মসূচী। সোমবার থেকে শুরু হলো এই কর্মশালা চলবে পাঁচ দিন, প্রথম প্রযায়ে এখানে দশজনকে এই প্রশিক্ষন দেওয়া হবে, তিনি আরও জানান শুধু প্রশিক্ষন নয়, তারা কতোটা শিখলো তার ওপর ভিত্তি করে মানপত্রও প্রদান করা হবে প্রশিক্ষকদের। মূলত বিভিন্ন ফুল, পল, কয়ের, সহ নানা প্রাকৃতিক উপাদান দিয়ে রঙের তৈরি বয়াবহার উপকারীতা সহ বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে প্রশিক্ষন দেওয়া হবে এই কর্মশালায়।

গোপাল বিশ্বাস -নদীয়া- রাস্তা তৈরি করার জন্য সাধারণ মানুষ টাকা দিয়েছিল, দাবি ভাইরাল মহিলা কাউন্সিলারের নদীয়ার গয়েশপুর পৌরসভার ঘটনা। সম্প্রতি গয়েশপুর পৌরসভার ১১ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডের মহিলা তৃণমূল কাউন্সিলার সোমা ঢালী দাসের একটি ভিডিও ভাইরাল হয়। ভিডিওতে দেখা গিয়েছে, সোমা ঢালি দাসকে ২ লাখ দিচ্ছেন এক মহিলা। সেই টাকা গোনার জন্য সোমা সেই টাকা দিলেন পাশে থাকা এক ব্যক্তিকে। যিনি একজন ঠিকাদার। আর এই ভিডিও প্রসঙ্গে দলেরই কাউন্সিলরদের সহ পৌরপতিকে নিশানা করেন সোমা ঢালী, তিনি আরও জানান পৌরপ্রধান টেন্ডার ছাড়াই কাজ দেয় কন্ট্রাক্টটারদের, পাশাপাশি রাস্তা তৈরি সহ বিভিন্ন ভাবে সাধারণ মানুষের থেকেও টাকা তোলে ! আর এই ঘটনা প্রকাশ্যে আসতেই তৃণমূলকে তীব্র আক্রমণ শানিয়েছে বিজেপি, বিজেপির নদীয়া দক্ষণের মুখপাত্র সোমনাথ কর বলেন এটা হরিণঘাটা নয় শুধু গোটা রাজ্যের প্রতিটা পৌরসভা, পঞ্চায়েত সর্বত্রই একই ছবি, কাঠমানি, তোলাবাজি ছাড়া তৃণমূল চলতে পারে না! আর এর সরাসরি যোগআছে কালিঘাটেও। বিধানসভা নির্বাচনের আগে তৃণমূল কাউন্সিলারের এমন ভাবে টাকা নেওয়ার ভিডিও ভাইরাল হওয়া ও তা নিয়ে প্রকাশ্যে দলের নেতৃত্বের বিরুদ্ধে তৃণমূলের কাউন্সিলারের প্রকাশ্যে মুখ খোলা আগামী দিনে যে তৃণমূলকে যথেষ্ট কোনঠাসা করতে ছাপিয়ে পরবে বিরোধীরা তা বলাই বাহুল্য।

মোদির সভার আগুন ছড়াল শান্তিপুরে! ‘গো ব্যাক মোদি’ পোস্টার ঘিরে নদীয়ায় তীব্র রাজনৈতিক তরজা

গোপাল বিশ্বাস -নদীয়া- বিধান সভা নির্বাচন যতোই এগিয়ে আসছে নদীয়ায় রাজনৈতিক উত্তেজনা ক্রমশ চড়ছে। প্রধানমন্ত্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদির সভার আগেই শনিবার চাকদহে ‘গো ব্যাক মোদি’ পোস্টার ঘিরে তৈরি হয়েছিল চাঞ্চল্য। সেই রেশ কাটতে না কাটতেই রববির নদীয়ার শান্তিপুর শহরের একাধিক জায়গায় চোখে পড়ল একই ধরনের পোস্টার। শনিবার শান্তিপুরে যেখানে এই পোস্টার দেখা যায়নি,রবিবার সকাল হতেই সেখানেই পোস্টার পড়তে দেখা যায়, যা ঘিরে নতুন করে শুরু হয়েছে রাজনৈতিক তরজা। রানাঘাট লোকসভা কেন্দ্রের বিজেপি সাংসদ জগন্নাথ সরকার এই ঘটনার পিছনে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের হাত রয়েছে বলে অভিযোগ করেন। তাঁর দাবি, পরিকল্পিত ভাবেই বিজেপি ও প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সভা ঘিরে অশান্তির পরিবেশ তৈরি করার চেষ্টা চালিয়েছিলো। যদিও এই অভিযোগ সম্পূর্ণ নস্যাৎ করে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস। শান্তিপুরের তৃণমূল বিধায়ক ব্রজ কিশোর গোস্বামীর স্পষ্ট দাবি, এই ঘটনার সঙ্গে তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস কোনওভাবেই যুক্ত নয়। সব মিলিয়ে ‘গো ব্যাক মোদি’ পোস্টারকে কেন্দ্র করে নদীয়ার রাজনীতিতে উত্তেজনা তুঙ্গে, আর তা ঘিরেই জোর রাজনৈতিক চাপানউতোর শুরু হয়েছে।

ACA Cricket Stadium and Pavilion inaugurated in Umrangso

Assam took a significant step in its sporting infrastructure today with the inauguration of the ACA Cricket Stadium and the Sengya Tularam Pavilion in Umrangso on Friday. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, in the presence of DHAC CEM Debolal Gorlosa, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Nandita Gorlosa, BCCI Honorary Secretary and ICC board director Devajit Saikia, KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang, ACA President Taranga Gogoi, and ACA Secretary Sanatan Das, among others, formally inaugurated the stadium and pavilion.

The project was launched in 2021 and has been described as a major addition to the Assam Cricket Association’s efforts to expand the game across all regions of the state. Set against a striking natural landscape, the venue has been developed as a destination cricket ground with an emphasis on both performance and aesthetics. The facility covers 30 bighas and includes five center wickets, five practice pitches, eight residential staff quarters, a modern pavilion with bunk bed accommodation for 32 players, and an earthen gallery that can seat about 15,000 spectators.

After unveiling the stadium and the pavilion, the chief minister congratulated the Assam Cricket Association and called it a good day for Umrangso. He said some leading names of Indian cricket would be invited to play at the venue soon. Devajit Saikia thanked the chief minister for his support in making the project a reality and acknowledged the assistance from Debolal Gorlosa. He said the ground’s setting reminded him of venues in England or Scotland. ACA president Taranga Gogoi said the stadium would be among the most beautiful in the country. He expressed hope that a first-class match would be hosted there in the coming days. Officials said the facility would help the association organise coaching camps and competitive matches, creating opportunities for young players from the hill districts. The event was attended by DHAC executive member for sports, Probita Johori; Dima Hasao, Deputy Commissioner, Munindra Nath Ngatey; members of the ACA Apex Council; and several other dignitaries.

Fabric of Music: An Immersive Dialogue Between Sound and Textile Traditions of Bengal

Kolkata | 18–20 December 2025: Weavers Studio Resource Centre, in collaboration with Soumik Datta Arts (UK), presents Fabric of Music, a three-day interdisciplinary initiative bringing together music, textile heritage, storytelling, and artistic practice. Hosted at Daga Nikunj, Ballygunge, with Alka Jalan Foundation as Venue Partner and Sangeet Ashram as Institutional Supporter, the programme includes a two-day creative workshop, a public showcase of new compositions, a documentary film screening, and a solo performance by internationally acclaimed sarod virtuoso Soumik Datta.
About the Concept
Fabric of Music explores the deep, intuitive relationship between sound and cloth—rhythm and weave, memory and material. Rooted in Bengal’s rich textile traditions, the project invites young musicians to engage with music not only as performance but also as a medium for social reflection, collaboration, and storytelling. Through direct interaction with master artisans—kantha embroiderers, block printers, and dyeing practitioners who are an integral part of Weavers Studio—participants translate textures, motifs, and processes of craft into original soundscapes. The result is a rare creative exchange where music is shaped by touch, labour, and inherited knowledge.
The Workshop | 18–19 December 2025 The two-day workshop brings together 15–20 emerging musicians (aged 18–35) from West Bengal, selected through an open call. Led and mentored by Soumik Datta, the workshop includes immersive sessions on textile heritage, sound-mapping exercises, collaborative improvisation, and guided composition. The programme culminates in a public showcase on the evening of 19 December, where participants present original works developed during the workshop in collaboration with artisans, offering audiences an intimate glimpse into evolving artistic journeys shaped by craft, collaboration, and place.
Documentary Film Screening & Music Performance | 20 December 2025 The programme concludes with the screening of a powerful documentary film titled Textiles of the Bengal Delta: Epaar Opaar, tracing the legacy of Bengal’s textile heritage across rivers, borders, and time. The film examines Bengal’s historical dominance in the world textile trade, its disruption due to colonisation and partition, and its continued resilience and rebirth by fusing personal narratives, archival material, and reenacted scenes.
Additionally, Soumik Datt will perform on the evening with Debjit Patitundi on tabla. His vast musical vocabulary combines spoken word, ambient textures, field recordings, Indian classical ragas, and modern sound design. His artwork resonates strongly with the stories examined in the workshop and film, reflecting themes of migration, memory, borders, and interconnectedness.
Regarding Soumik Datta, Soumik Datta is a sarod virtuoso, composer, bandleader, BBC presenter, and recipient of the Aga Khan Music Award. Vogue has called him “one of the biggest new music talents in Britain”. Soumik, a student of the renowned Pandit Buddhadev Das Gupta, is renowned for expanding the expressive potential of Indian classical music via intercultural and socially conscious partnerships. He has collaborated with artists like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Nitin Sawhney, Joss Stone, and Anoushka Shankar, and he has performed at prestigious international venues like the BBC Proms, Glastonbury Festival, WOMAD, and St Paul’s Cathedral. The Philharmonia Orchestra currently has him as an artist in residence.

Chinsura, Dec 20: West Bengal beat Chandigarh 37 to 33 to lift the 54th Senior Men’s National Handball Championship at the Netaji Subhash Sports Arena here today. Jagender of WB was adjudged the most valuable player of the match, while WB’s keeper Sourabh was adjudged the best goalkeeper of the tournament. Chandigarh’s Ravi emerged as the player of the tournament. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay gave away the trophies to both teams. Techno India Managing Director Satyam Roychowdhury was present on the occasion. Chhattisgarh (43) emerged as the third team of the meet, defeating Rajasthan (37) for the third position. গোপাল বিশ্বাস -নদীয়া- শ্রীচৈতন্য মহাপ্রভুর জন্মভূমি নবদ্বীপ—যেখানে প্রতিটি অলিগলিতে ভেসে আসে কীর্তন ও নামসংকীর্তনের সুর। কিন্তু এই নবদ্বীপেই আজ মানুষের কানে ধরা দিচ্ছে এক অন্যরকম সুর—বাঁশির সুর। সেই সুরের শিল্পী ‘কৃষ্ণ’। তবে তিনি পৌরাণিক নন, বাস্তবের মানুষ—নবদ্বীপের কুটিরপাড়ার বাসিন্দা কৃষ্ণ সাহা। পেশায় কাঠের মিস্ত্রি কৃষ্ণ সাহার জীবন এক সময় ছিল সাধারণই। কিন্তু প্রেমের এক গভীর অধ্যায় তার জীবনকে বদলে দেয়। দীর্ঘ কয়েক বছর ধরে যাকে ভালোবেসেছিলেন, সেই সম্পর্ক পরিণতি পায়নি। প্রিয় মানুষটি অন্যত্র বিবাহবন্ধনে আবদ্ধ হওয়ার পর ভেঙে পড়েন কৃষ্ণ। সেই মানসিক যন্ত্রণা, নিঃসঙ্গতা থেকেই যেন জন্ম নেয় তার বাঁশির সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক। গত প্রায় দু’বছর ধরে বাঁশিই হয়ে উঠেছে কৃষ্ণের একমাত্র সঙ্গী। আশ্চর্যের বিষয়, কোনো প্রথাগত তালিম ছাড়াই তিনি নিপুণভাবে বাঁশি বাজাতে পারেন। তার সংগ্রহে রয়েছে মোট চারটি বাঁশি—দুটি আর বাঁশি, একটি রাখাল বাঁশি এবং একটি মুরলী। প্রতিটি বাঁশিতে যেন লুকিয়ে আছে তার না-বলা কথা, না-পাওয়ার বেদনা। প্রায়ই গঙ্গার পাড়ে কিংবা যোগনাথতলার নিতাই মন্দির চত্বরে বসে যখন তিনি বাঁশি বাজান, তখন থমকে দাঁড়ান পথচারীরা। ভক্তদের অনেকেই বলেন, তার বাঁশির সুরে রয়েছে এক অদ্ভুত প্রশান্তি, এক ধরনের আধ্যাত্মিক টান। কেউ কেউ চোখ বন্ধ করে সেই সুরে ডুবে যান। ভাঙা প্রেমকে শক্তিতে পরিণত করে সুরের আশ্রয়ে নিজেকে নতুন করে খুঁজে পাওয়া এই মানুষটিকেই আজ নবদ্বীপবাসী আদর করে ডাকছেন—‘নবদ্বীপের কৃষ্ণ’।

গোপাল বিশ্বাস -নদীয়া- চাকদহ পৌরসভার ২ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডের বাসিন্দা সোমনাথ লাহিড়ী জীবিত থেকেও এখন ‘ভূত’! চাকদহ পৌরসভায় ভোটার তালিকা সংশোধনকে ঘিরে চাঞ্চল্যকর ঘটনা সামনে এল। পৌরসভার ২ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডের বাসিন্দা সোমনাথ লাহিড়ীর নাম ২০০২ সাল থেকে টানা ভোটার লিস্টে ছিল। ২০২৫ সালেও তার নাম ছিল বলে জানান তিনি। এমনকি সম্প্রতি পরিবারের তিন সদস্যের বাড়িতে বিএলএ (BLA) এসে ইনুমারেশন ফর্ম দেন, যা সঠিকভাবে পূরণ করে জমাও দেওয়া হয়। কিন্তু নির্বাচন কমিশনের খসড়া ভোটার তালিকা প্রকাশ হতেই চক্ষু চড়কগাছ! তালিকায় স্ত্রী ও মেয়ের নাম থাকলেও সোমনাথ লাহিড়ীর নাম উধাও। পরবর্তীতে খোঁজ নিয়ে তিনি জানতে পারেন, ভোটার তালিকায় তাকে ‘মৃত’ হিসেবে দেখানো হয়েছে। “আমি বেঁচে থেকেও মৃত!” — বিস্মিত সোমনাথ এই ঘটনায় রীতিমতো হতবাক সোমনাথ লাহিড়ী। তিনি জানান, আমি জীবিত, অথচ সরকারি নথিতে আমাকে মৃত বানিয়ে দেওয়া হয়েছে। এখন তো মনে হচ্ছে আমি ভূত হয়ে ঘুরে বেড়াচ্ছি!” ঘটনার কথা তিনি সঙ্গে সঙ্গে স্থানীয় কাউন্সিলর ও ডিএল অফিসে জানান। সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষ থেকে সমাধানের আশ্বাস দেওয়া হয়েছে বলে জানান সোমনাথ। প্রশ্ন উঠছে কীভাবে একজন জীবিত ভোটার ‘মৃত’ হলেন তালিকায়?ভোটার তালিকা সংশোধনে এত বড় গাফিলতির দায় কার? সামনে নির্বাচন, তার আগে কি ঠিক হবে এই ভুল? এই ঘটনাকে কেন্দ্র করে এলাকায় তীব্র রাজনৈতিক ও প্রশাসনিক চাঞ্চল্য ছড়িয়েছে। এখন সকলের নজর— নির্বাচন কমিশন কত দ্রুত এই ‘মৃত ভোটার’-কে ফের জীবিত করে তোলে!

কলকাতা: নারীদের স্বাস্থ্য ও ক্ষমতায়ণের প্রতি দীর্ঘদিনের অঙ্গীকার পুনর্ব্যক্ত করে, দ্য বেঙ্গল অবস্টেট্রিক অ্যান্ড গাইনোকোলজিক্যাল সোসাইটি (বিওজিএস) তাদের ৪৯তম বার্ষিক সম্মেলন BOGSCON 49-এর অংশ হিসেবে “নারীদের জীবন রক্ষা ও সচেতনতা” শীর্ষক একটি বিশেষ পাবলিক ফোরামের আয়োজন হ’ল। এই সম্মেলনটি ১৯ থেকে ২১ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৫ তারিখ কলকাতার আইটিসি রয়্যাল বেঙ্গলে চলবে। এই পাবলিক ফোরামের নেতৃত্ব দিলেন বিওজিএস-এর প্রেসিডেন্ট ডা. এম. এম. সামসুজ্জোহা এবং অনারারি সেক্রেটারি ডা. তুলিকা ঝা। তাঁরা সমাজের কৌশলগত দৃষ্টিভঙ্গি এবং বিশেষ করে সুবিধাবঞ্চিত ও প্রান্তিক জনগোষ্ঠীর নারীদের জন্য মানসম্মত স্বাস্থ্যসেবার সুযোগ বাড়াতে গৃহীত ধারাবাহিক উদ্যোগগুলির রূপরেখা তুলে ধরবেন।

এই উপলক্ষে বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে বিওজিএস-এর প্রেসিডেন্ট ডা. এম. এম. সামসুজ্জোহা বলেন, “নারীদের জীবন রক্ষা কেবলমাত্র চিকিৎসা হস্তক্ষেপের মধ্যেই সীমাবদ্ধ নয়। সচেতনতা, প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে রোগ নির্ণয় এবং সমাজের সক্রিয় অংশগ্রহণ—এই তিনটি বিষয়ই টেকসই নারীর স্বাস্থ্যসেবার মূল ভিত্তি। এই ফোরামের মাধ্যমে বিওজিএস জ্ঞান ও কার্যকর পদক্ষেপের মধ্যকার ব্যবধান কমাতে চায়।” এই বক্তব্যের প্রতিধ্বনি করে বিওজিএস-এর অনারারি সেক্রেটারি ডা. তুলিকা ঝা বলেন, “নারীদের স্বাস্থ্য সামাজিক ক্ষমতায়নের সঙ্গে অঙ্গাঙ্গিভাবে জড়িত। চিকিৎসা বিশেষজ্ঞ ও বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রের চিন্তানায়কদের একত্রিত করে আমরা সচেতন সিদ্ধান্ত, শক্তিশালী অ্যাডভোকেসি এবং তৃণমূল স্তরে অর্থবহ পরিবর্তনের অনুপ্রেরণা জোগাতে চাই।” BOGS-এর প্রধান বার্ষিক একাডেমিক সম্মেলন BOGSCON 49-এ রাজ্য ও রাজ্যের বাইরের বিভিন্ন প্রান্ত থেকে ১,২০০-রও বেশি স্ত্রীরোগ বিশেষজ্ঞের অংশগ্রহণ প্রত্যাশিত। ২০২৫–২০২৬ সালের সম্মেলনের থিম, “সচেতনতা থেকে কার্যকর উদ্যোগের মাধ্যমে নারীর জীবনরক্ষা”, সমাজের এই লক্ষ্যকেই তুলে ধরে—চিকিৎসাগত দক্ষতা ও সচেতনতা-ভিত্তিক উদ্যোগকে বাস্তব ও পরিমাপযোগ্য স্বাস্থ্য ফলাফলে রূপান্তরিত করা।

৯০ বছরেরও বেশি ঐতিহ্য নিয়ে বিওজিএস ধারাবাহিক কমিউনিটি আউটরিচ কর্মসূচির মাধ্যমে উল্লেখযোগ্য প্রভাব ফেলেছে। এর মধ্যে রয়েছে ৮০০টি বিনামূল্যের সার্ভিক্যাল ক্যান্সার ভ্যাকসিনেশন, ৭০০টি অ্যানিমিয়া স্ক্রিনিং, ৫০০টি সার্ভিক্যাল ক্যান্সার স্ক্রিনিং টেস্ট এবং ১০০টি ব্রেস্ট ক্যান্সার স্ক্রিনিং টেস্ট—যা বিভিন্ন সামাজিক-অর্থনৈতিক স্তরের নারীদের জন্য প্রতিরোধমূলক ও প্রাথমিক পর্যায়ে রোগ নির্ণয়ভিত্তিক স্বাস্থ্যসেবাকে আরও মজবুত করেছে। ফেডারেশন অব অবস্টেট্রিক অ্যান্ড গাইনেকোলজিক্যাল সোসাইটিজ অব ইন্ডিয়া (এফওজিএসআই)-র প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সদস্য হিসেবে, বিওজিএস নারীদের স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিয়ে আঞ্চলিক ও জাতীয় স্তরের আলোচনায় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করে চলেছে এবং নারীদের জন্য একটি আরও সুস্থ ও সমতাভিত্তিক ভবিষ্যৎ গড়ে তোলার লক্ষ্যে তাদের অঙ্গীকার পুনর্ব্যক্ত করছে।

Kolkata: Reaffirming its long-standing commitment to women’s health and empowerment, The Bengal Obstetric & Gynaecological Society (BOGS) organised a dedicated Public Forum on “Saving Women’s Lives and Awareness” during its 49th Annual Conference, BOGSCON 49, held from 19th to 21st December 2025 at ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata. The Public Forum was spearheaded by Dr. M. M. Samsuzzoha, President, BOGS, and Dr. Tulika Jha, Honorary Secretary, BOGS, who outlined the Society’s strategic vision and sustained initiatives aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for women, particularly among underserved and marginalised communities. The distinguished panel included eminent medical professionals Dr. Dibyendu Banerjee and Dr. Sebanti Goswami, along with influential voices from education, civil society, media, and culture. Panelists comprised Mrs. Seema Sapru, Principal, The Heritage School; Ms. Kasturi Raha, President, Calcutta Club; acclaimed film personality and rights activist Ms. Debleena Dutt; Ms. Priyanka Roy, Assistant Editor, T2; and Mr. Abijit Ganguly from Beyond Academics.

Discussions at the forum focused on awareness-driven interventions to prevent life-threatening conditions affecting women, the critical role of education and advocacy in reproductive and preventive healthcare, and the collective responsibility of institutions and society in empowering women to make informed health decisions. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. M. M. Samsuzzoha, President, BOGS, said, “Saving women’s lives goes far beyond clinical intervention. Awareness, early detection, and community engagement are the cornerstones of sustainable women’s healthcare. Through this forum, BOGS aimed to bridge the gap between knowledge and action.” Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Tulika Jha, Honorary Secretary, BOGS, stated, “Women’s health is intrinsically linked to social empowerment. By bringing together medical experts and thought leaders from diverse fields, we hoped to inspire informed choices, stronger advocacy, and meaningful change at the grassroots level.”

BOGSCON 49, the flagship annual academic conference of BOGS, witnessed participation from over 1,200 gynaecologists from across the state and beyond. The conference theme for 2025–2026, “Saving Women’s Lives: From Awareness to Action,” underscored the Society’s focus on translating clinical expertise and advocacy into measurable health outcomes. With a legacy spanning over 90 years, BOGS has made a tangible impact through sustained community outreach initiatives, facilitating 800 free cervical cancer vaccinations, 700 anaemia screenings, 500 cervical cancer screening tests, and 100 breast cancer screening tests, significantly strengthening preventive and early-detection healthcare for women across socio-economic strata. As a founding member of the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI), BOGS continues to play a pivotal role in shaping regional and national discourse on women’s healthcare, reaffirming its mission to build a healthier and more equitable future for women.

The landmark 10th edition will witness some of the world’s best athletes take centre stage at the US$142,214 prize money race. With equal prize money for the men’s and women’s winners, the top three winners each stand to win INR 300,000, INR 250,000, and INR 200,000, respectively. An event record bonus of INR 100,000 will further incentivise the runners. Leading the men’s field is Gulveer Singh, India’s 10,000 m and 5,000 m national record holder and the reigning Indian Elite champion at the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata, who said, “There is no pressure, only the desire to do better than last year step by step. I am thinking beyond records, focusing on personal growth and winning medals for the country.” Sawan Barwal, multiple national gold medallist and former Tata Steel World 25K winner in 2023, said, “Competition motivates me to push harder and understand my true limits. Road races help in building the strength that matters the most on the track.” The women’s race is equally poised for a gripping battle, headlined by defending champion Sanjivani Jadhav, one of India’s most accomplished long-distance runners. A two-time Tata Steel World 25K winner, Sanjivani arrives in strong form and will be eager to defend her title once again on a course she knows well. “Returning as champion to the track is pure motivation for me and not pressure. I compete against myself, and this time my aim is clear: setting a new event record.” Said Sanjivani.

Standing in her way is Seema, winner of the 2025 Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon among Indian elites and one of the fastest Indian women over long distances this season. Seema added, “My preparation is good, and this time I want to perform better than last year. Defending champion and Newcomers clash for top honours in Tata Steel World 25K

Kolkata – 19th December 2025: Three of the globally acclaimed runners, all of them venturing into their maiden appearance in the 25K, will fight it out for the top honours here on Sunday (21) at the 10th edition of the Tata Steel World 25K Kolkata, a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race. Appearing in a “Meet and Greet” with the media today, the recently crowned World Marathon Champion Alphonce Felix Simbu played it cool by saying, “I don’t feel pressure; I see running as joy and a responsibility to represent my country well. With a new generation rising, every race is about growth and preparing for bigger challenges ahead.” Lesotho’s 29-year-old Tebello Ramakongoana, who earlier this year set a national record of 2:06:18 while runner-up to Ethiopian Dawit Wolde in the Xiamen International Marathon and has run several half-marathons in his career, revealed that he is ready for Sunday’s race. “The 25K is the perfect bridge between the half-marathon and the marathon. Every race prepares me for bigger dreams ahead,” he further stated.

Uganda’s double Olympic champion Joshua Cheptegei, the top name among the men’s roster, said, “India is like a second home to me, because my international journey truly began here. Coming back to race and see the sport grow in India is something I deeply celebrate.”

Kebede returns to face a challenge: Ethiopian Sutume Kebede, who triumphed in the women’s race here twice and set a stand-alone world best for 25K two years ago, will face a challenge this time to accomplish a hat-trick of wins. “I have prepared very well, my training is complete, and with confidence and experience behind me, I am ready to deliver a stronger performance than last year,” was her reaction to questions during the press conference. Procam International, the race promoters, have announced a USD 25,000 bonus to boost the world record attempt in Kolkata this year.

With a total prize purse of USD 142,214, the top three finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories will receive USD 15,000, USD 10,000, and USD 7,000, respectively. Runners will be further incentivised with a USD 5,000 event record bonus. Kebede’s countryman, Degitu Azimeraw, who won the title here in 2017, along with the Kenyan Agnes Keino, is ready to make the women’s race enjoyable. “I am happy to be here, and I believe God will strengthen me on Sunday to run my best. With the support of my family and teammates, every race becomes part of my testimony. Looking forward to the experience,” the 37-year-old veteran runner from Kenya said.
